    Roy Harper , probably the most overlooked poets of are time. Master guitar player , very clever, unique and humble. He may sometimes have his moments when he will slowly talk philosophy during his gigs even when heckled by the odd person, but he never gives in to that and will talk longer and slower. One of the great minds and thinkers of are generation. That's why people like Jimmy page and many others from the music world are drawn in by this man's ability to be a social critic, a voice, a poet all through his music. Roy Harper has probably had chances to sell out and make the album that the record producer wants him to make (don't get me wrong some off his later albums not up their to his standards, but he can still pull off a gem of a song on a bad album) but he has never gave in to the world of fame fortune and fakeness. He's stayed a traditional musical artist , putting bread on his table . Today in a world of false celebrities who pass somehow off as musicians or artists and make millions, Roy is an example too all the people who are real artists who put the craft ahead of fame and fortune. Easily along with musicians like Nick drake and other artists who came to light to the bigger audience after they had gone, Roy Harper will hopefully be appreciated and set an example for the world of music and poetry.

    This collaboration was incredible. Both of them sounding just as fantastic as the old days. Roy's voice is a little deeper in tone, than in the past, naturally, but wow he's still got it.
    I can't say enough about Jimmy...he has more imagination, creativity and talent than any other guitarist I've ever known. No one has ever had that "feel" to playing, producing and writing music like hes always had. I couldn't care less that he missed some notes onstage during the few yrs he was on heroin. When he wasn't strung-out, he played beautifully.
    Is hilarious to see the haters come out of the woodwork at the mere mention of his name...much of it stemming from spiteful jealousy, IMO. They can piss up a rope for all I care 😂

    Tears to my eyes…I remember when Harper would try and recruit any guitar superstar that happened to be recording their Album in the same studio as him, in the 70’s…because his music was deemed un-commercial. Page, Gilmour…I have all those Albums. But to see how Page is so on top of his guitar playing in his older years compared to the end of Zeppelin or his 80’s projects where he was so doped….makes my heart sing! What a success story of a Man! Went to Hell and came back stronger!

      Dave V- Very true, but I can't think of many guitarists, excluding Hendrix, Green, and Roy, that had Jimmy's creative mind, even if it was above his own technical ability. If Page hadn't done drugs, he would probably have pushed further with Zep's compositions. He broke a boundary between technicality and creativity that captivates me, and I respect him fully for that.

      JH For me, no one was better than JP 68-72. No one came close as a player, producer, or, really band leader. Ppl always compare JP to specific players; however, no one did EVERYTHING Jimmy did during those early Zeppelin yrs. But, yea, his addictions fucked up some of his legacy. LZ was over for me creative-wise after 75. Having said that, I'd fly anywhere, pay anything, do anything to see them in concert tomorrow.

    Great soundtrack that he wrote, composed, produced, and played many of the instruments. Amazing musician and once in a lifetime talent. Great music lives on through the ages and Deathwish 2 while not exactly pop radio material is a wonderful display of Page's talents especially when considering he created it all himself to fit a particular movie and even got an album out of it. Roy Harper was our bonding. We were together in the time of Stormcock (which had a profound effect on me) but lost contact, only to get in touch again by sheer chance many years later. Meeting up again to go to this concert was something very special.
    My ex died a few days ago. I was looking for something of Roy to listen to in his honour. I couldn’t have found anything better.

      "lesser talents" how judgmental.

    • @paramidge8935
      @paramidge8935 8 месяцев назад

      Agreed - and to the 'how judgemental' comment - without qualitative assessment - as a reasoned combination of felt experience and a broad knowledge of the subject what do we have to discern anything? A relativistic plateau of mindless, slavish and soulless consumption? The music industry and who it exploits/pushes on the consumer are not very interesting compared to the experience of something unique and life enhancing and this is where a qualitative judgement becomes absolutely necessary. Hence the right and duty to call out 'lesser talents' as the music industry bottom line in the current climate. It does not mean some great talent does not slip through today (thank goodness) - but what real talent produces is often at odds with the 'business model' for more reasons than simply sales.

    This is the fourth time I've heard someone say page is sloppy. I feel it's almost becoming trendy among guitarists to say it. Please think before you speak people

      beemelonhead1- Yeah, he was only sloppy when he was addicted to heroin (77- 83, for those who didn't know). He's definitely a player with feel, but not overly sloppy.

      Even on a 'sloppy' day, Jimmy Page is still tens times the guitar player that anyone else is. ;)

      Yep and those same people praise sloppiness by Hendrix. It's all how they've programmed by media.

    It is strange how the simple combination of two acoustic guitars is so rare. These are both well known, one very well known, artists and they can do it. They were famously ridiculed on Whistle Test playing in the hills. I am not a huge fan of Roy Harper, saw a couple of times but he is his own man.

    I'm fine with people enjoying themselves and lets face it Roy gives enough opportunity for fans to make themselves heard, but its too much when they carry on when he is singing. I'll look forward to see/hearing whatever you upload onto youtube after the next concert, I think everyone might be the last, lol
