    Pete Rose bets on baseball: banned for life.
    Dozens of players literally caught cheating in the decades since: not even a slap on the wrist.

      The players union is made up with the cheaters in this league, as well as the ones who do not cheat, who play the game with fairness and integrity. A house divided cannot stand! This union MUST allow the league to punish the players! It must do something to remove the most glaring stigma of the scandal. As Pete said in this interview, attendance in baseball is down. It is gonna get worse, as the fans don't wanna watch a game full of cheaters. They wanna see the integrity of the game upheld. If there's a lax in integrity, then don't even have umpires.

    • @braxtonslife7779

      Jose Carranza Pete never bet against his team. And regardless players cheating does fix the game.

    • @BamaShanks
      @BamaShanks 4 года назад +19

      @@josecarranza7555 I think actually cheating is far worse than possibly throwing a game. If there was evidence that he threw games, then you would have a point. Deliberately cheating to win a world series, with irrefutable evidence is much worse. And for there to be no penalty whatsoever, the comparison is hard to avoid.

      @jonlarsen3090 4 года назад +1

      Doctor Siege By only betting on his team to win, Rose could have impacted games the following day, games he didn’t bet on. For example, he could empty his bullpen to win his bet, knowing full well, tomorrow’s game he would be playing short, and no bet was made. The fact is, gambling on games was against baseball rules then, and still is.

    He will be 79 in April.
    Pete’s last game was in August 1986. So, he would have probably been in the HOF in 1992-1993.
    So he has NOT been in the HOF for 28+ years. Think of all that he missed out on due to his punishment.
    If he dies and then put in... you will lose the opportunity to talk to him, hear a great speech probably filled with sincere apologies for his errors.

    It’s not “sign stealing”. That’s legal in baseball. It’s the fact they were relaying via electronics in real time to the batters what pitch was coming. That’s cheating. And no they didn’t cheat every game and not every player on the Astros did it. It was select amount of players that could be trusted to not leak it and it only happened in certain games. Some wore buzzers in their jerseys, others had buzzers in their cleats. Ban these players for life.

      Pete rose has some sort of jealousy or insecurity of ichiro that has him as very anti Seattle

    • @FerdinandCesarano
      @FerdinandCesarano 4 года назад

      @@marcusweidauer40 - Well, Rose has a valid gripe about Ichiro, considering that there are some goofballs running around calling Ichiro the Hit King.
      Minor league stats do not count alongside a player's Major League totals. Hank Aaron's career home run total does not include those homers that he hid for Jacksonville of the Sally League; and Babe Ruth's total does not include the home runs that he hit for the Baltimore Orioles of the International League. Likewise, there is no sensible reason to include Ichiro's hits from the Japanese leagues in his career hit total.
      Let us be perfectly clear that Ichiro's winning of the A.L. Rookie-of-the-Year award in 2001 confirms that the leagues in Japan count as minor leagues relative to Major League Baseball.
      So the idea of combining Ichiro's minor league hits with his Major League hits is absurd. If minor league stats are going to be counted, then someone should probably check on the totals of Razor Shines at Indianapolis, because maybe he is the Hit King.
      Still, Rose's legitimate gripe with Ichiro provides no justification for casting doubt on Edgar Martinez as a Hall of Famer, or for saying that Martinez "didn't own a glove", as though Martinez was never a position player.

      lj86mets playonplaya bro it’s so simple of why players don’t get discipline, there are DEFINITELY other teams that do it so if players get suspended I guarantee they will snitch on others. The Astros just did it to a very VERY high level. It was also make the scandal bigger than it is and it could ruin baseball for a long time.

      People are really Blind if they don’t think the rest of the teams didn’t do this. I’m sure there are a lot of teams out there that did the same thing. But yet they can’t fire everyone. It will ruin baseball. And for people to say to strip them of their titles will open a door to many other titles being stripped. I don’t think we want to go there. And the players know it.

    Pete is on point about the pitching changes making baseball less exiting. One of the biggest forms of lore in the game was the starting pitcher toughing out 7-8 innings despite getting teed up on early like a gladiator and taking that away and adding all these commercials for pitching changes every batter turned a lot of people off.
