I never understood, from a consumer's perspective, why people hate competition. Competition is GREAT for us as consumers. It forces companies to make better, more accessible, and cheaper products.

I don't understand why they are comparing the 0-60 speed of a car that doesn't even have an interior with a fully functional Tesla. I bet the steering wheel didn't even have an airbag, just to name one thing. It's all about weight.
Alex Dediu and some car magazines did a test with a Tesla where they put down a 0-60 in 2.3 seconds which is the limit of what can be done with the standard tires. The Tesla’s P100D acceleration is limited by grip not by power. At least to 60 mph.
Think about it. They are already on par with the roadster 2.. add interior (questionable to weight ratio) retest and tweak drive system. You'll have a roadster for less than advertised price.
So... slower than the P100D's 2.28s currently put on record. Not so close to the roadster 2. Still, always hope for more e-competition, keep progress rolling! Nice to see some positive news about FF again at last.

With everything coming out saying how the company has lied about having money, lied about having means of actually producing these vehicles, and straight up sneaking an engineer into the driver seat of the thing during the presentation because the self driving mode wouldn't work, I highly doubt they conducted a fair test.
That wouldn't be an outright "lie". It would be fibbing/stretching the truth. Which is EXTREMELY common in pretty much everything in the world (journalism, academic research/science, etc) in fact probably more common than being completely honest. I mean how many AI news articles have we seen in the last year which were super over-hyped exaggerations

I really like the idea of the Faraday entering the market. This company is going to keep Tesla on their toes and help advance the tech. Hopefully they become more affordable in the near future.

But IMHO the competition should not be thought of as being between Faraday & Tesla, or anyone else and Tesla. It's between ICE and BEV's.
The " reveal " makes you confident about Faraday entering the market ? lol When they will have money to build the factory, or to find a new supplier for their seats and pay them in time, maybe they will have a shot. But with a pile of dirt in the desert, using a stripped prototype so that can say they didn't lie when their car, at that moment, was faster than a Tesla with 30kwh less ( like you'd compare a model s 70 vs P100 for example)..? Remember all the hype about the video before the release, it was 2.39. Once in front of people, that went to 2,59. And of course we didn't see the real result, just what they said. Or simply use the prototype with the seats in it, and all the interior, to have a real idea of their time. Because let's face it, that 0-60 segment of the reveal was like 95% of the content of it. The rest was ( bad ) filler.. Why not use the model closest to " production " to have a real idea how it performs .. ? Probably something else they want to keep as discreet as possible before trying to produce them..
FF91 is a scam same as the company. Don't even think about this car. FF was unable to deliver anything that they promised. From the failing car, that totally flop on the CES presentation to the factory that supposed to be built in Nevada. Plus six high executives left the company at the same time. These executives previously worked on projects for bigger names than Faraday Future. Don't expect and get hyped by FF91. it's already a history.
Imagine the 0-60 time with a smaller, more areodynamic body and without all the tech. And full carbonfiber. That same battery (or even more powerful) and others in a fully stripped out carbon racecar body. Would be close to 2 seconds! Insane

I think the Gigafactory is a great idea, I think all these electric cars are a direct response to their innovation, and I think Teslas look better aesthetically than any other EV I've seen, including this one. I don't use Macs, I'm a strictly Windows/Linux guy. I also use an Android phone. Am I an Android sheep? Am I a Windows/Linux sheep? Am I not allowed to have brand preferences without being stigmatized because of other people that are fanatical about the same products that I enjoy? This car is not on the market, and if it was I wouldn't buy it because I think it's hideously ugly. I think it has some really awesome features though. If Mercedes, Cadillac, Lexus, or Audi come out with a really awesome EV that's comparable in price, or if a new company comes along and builds one that blows my hair back, then at that point I'll consider buying something other than a Tesla. Lol. The Tesla weighs 2.5 tons. That's 1 ton more than any other car. It's mostly the strong body using much of the weight. Imagine if they lighten it down to only 1.5 tons
The speed of an electric car today is almost entirely determined by the battery size. For example, the motors on a Tesla P100DL can output over 200 more horsepower than the battery can. This is because the battery can only release so much electricity at once. The only thing Tesla would need to do in order to make their car faster than this one is stick a larger battery under it.
The model s p100d with the new easter egg does 2.4. So this car does 1/100th of a second faster. Otherwise it is .11 seconds faster. How can you even claim that. It is a joke. Who cares about .01 or .11 faster?. What about the conditions of the road and the tires used? A model s still does 2.7 in the rain with a wet road for petes sake. Does this car even have effective traction control at all? So in order to do so, this car has to have more effective hp at over 1000. So that means you have less range than you could have with 130kwh than if you put a it in a tesla. Do you need such ridiculous numbers? Is that range even legitimate that they claim and accounts for eveyday use? Teslas range numbers are real world and have been shown.

If that thing has cameras instead of rear-view mirrors, why mount the cameras where they cause a lot of drag? Why not mount them almost flush with the body or something? Cool logo, though. I hope these guys succeed... because it'll do a lot of great for future tech!
Legal issues. Law requires cars to have things to hold up rear view mirrors, the law doesn't talk about the mirror though. It was originally teslas idea to do this but they didnt have the thingy that sticks out the side and ran into the legal issue, so they ditched the idea and added mirrors

Actually, many cars nowadays already have the speed limit. For example, it might be capable of going up to 240 km/s, but the computers, sensors and micro controllers limit it to something like 180 km/s. I think it depends on the region. Can say this is true for Russia.

Is it really a competition? Tesla's model 3 is 35k with pretty much every feature the model x and model s has, minus performance. This is starting at 150k. This isn't really competition, just a higher budget alternative. I guess thats why people are mad, because they want them to create an affordable car to challenge Tesla.
Firstly, the Model 3 only starts at $35k, most will be a lot more than that. I think they said the average config will be around $45k. Secondly, this is only their first car. Like Tesla's roadster, which was also well over $100k, they need something attention grabbing and something that they can make money on without needing to sell a huge number. Presumably they will be making less expensive models if this succeeds.
I'm not bashing them at all, I understand why they're going this route, I'm just pointing out that at least for the time being, they are no threat to Tesla. And although I understand they need money, I really wish they bumped down to the 100k price range so they can compete with not only Tesla but other luxury SUV's. At the current price point, the only competition would be something like a fully spec'd Range Rover or Mercedes G class, and I don't see most people opting for the FF91 in that scenario.
I appreciate the honest review and optimistic outlook on this new and ambitious concept. The fact that you own a product manufactured by a competitor says a lot about the potential of this vehicle. We definitely need more of this!
I don't think it can really compete. While it does a lot of things better, it is also significantly more expensive. Tesla is now focusing on the average consumer (with the model 3) and presumably will continue to do so with cheaper and cheaper cars.

Ben Fierros I believe it's the combination of rear wheel steer and torque vectoring that makes this new. I'm not sure if any other car manufacturer is doing this, but maybe I'm wrong. EDIT: Rear wheel steer + torque vectoring has been done by Porsche too. Doesn't mean FF91 is not an impressive car though.

Tesla was doing the same when testing their stripped down model S to m4s and other competitors before throwing all its luxuries in there. Pretty much every car company does that now-a-days. We'll just have to wait to see if the production model still holds it's own even after adding all of the luxuries. Bet It'll be pretty damn close though XD
JVP Do you have any proof of that? There is no "Stripped down" version of the model S. My brother owns a P100D, and I don't think anything this company creates will even come close to the sort of innovation Tesla is bringing to the market. It's not gonna touch Tesla's autopilot system (pretty much no car manufacturers are) and I highly doubt it will provide the same level of luxury a Model S or X has (Heated & cooled seats, automatic and falcon doors for the model X, Gigantic tablet in the center console, Free Super charger stations all across the United States that charge incredibly fast, Fantastic customer service from Tesla service centers all over the country, great fantastic features like geofencing and Automatic air suspension.) Not to mention the regular firmware updates Tesla pushes out all the time, continuously making their cars better over time. I seriously still could on but I think my point has been made.
My fault for not sharing the timeline. Before the model S could hit the hands of their consumers, they run a series of test. The car is usually a "stripped down to its essentials" version during these test similar to how this Faraday is looking. These versions are not sold to the public. The information gain from them is implemented into the production model tho. Tesla is cool. Faraday is cool. Can't wait to see a comparison should a production model hit the market :)

The P100D has been Vbox tested for a 2.5 0-60 time on the dragtimes channel, without the newly introduced Easter egg which will lower the time to 2.4, and was tested sub optimal conditions (road temperatures, tire temperature, ambient temperature, etc.) with that sort of speed out of a consumer vehicle I expect the car to do 0-60 in the 2.3 range if not lower if it was completely stripped out like this Faraday Future is, and In completely optimal conditions.

Like in your first reply you talked about the M4 when the M4 is not a Model S competitor at all, one is a sports coupe meant for sports/track use and the other is a 7 seater electric Sedan. They probably did a test with the real car with everything in before hand, they wouldnt just have a stripped out car, they would of had a few testing models with everything in.
There is still plenty of room to make improvements to the drivetrain via software. That 130kwatt battery has huge untapped potential from an engineering standpoint. The final production car will likely be even faster than 2.39s.
You are right, but they have to get people excited for their cars and at the very least talking about them. They are a new company and will most likely need to continue getting investors. Remember in today's world there really doesn't seem to be a thing such as bad press, the U.S. election is pretty good evidence of that.

Uhh, not even close. Roadster 2 had 1.9 0-60. The FF91 has a respectable 2.37 with a bare bones interior.

I really like the idea of the Faraday entering the market. This company is going to keep Tesla on their toes and help advance the tech. Hopefully they become more affordable in the near future.

CLUTCH1st As things stand, I'm skeptical they'll be able to bring a production car to market. ATM, they're more or less on the verge of financial collapse. That said, I do hope they succeed. But IMHO the competition should not be thought of as being between Faraday & Tesla, or anyone else and Tesla. It's between ICE and BEV's.

Remember all the hype about the video before the release, it was 2.39. Once in front of people, that went to 2,59. And of course we didn't see the real result, just what they said.
Or simply use the prototype with the seats in it, and all the interior, to have a real idea of their time.
Because let's face it, that 0-60 segment of the reveal was like 95% of the content of it. The rest was ( bad ) filler..
Why not use the model closest to " production " to have a real idea how it performs .. ?
Probably something else they want to keep as discreet as possible before trying to produce them..

FF91 is a scam same as the company. Don't even think about this car. FF was unable to deliver anything that they promised. From the failing car, that totally flop on the CES presentation to the factory that supposed to be built in Nevada. Plus six high executives left the company at the same time. These executives previously worked on projects for bigger names than Faraday Future. Don't expect and get hyped by FF91. it's already a history.

I think the Gigafactory is a great idea, I think all these electric cars are a direct response to their innovation, and I think Teslas look better aesthetically than any other EV I've seen, including this one. I don't use Macs, I'm a strictly Windows/Linux guy. I also use an Android phone. Am I an Android sheep? Am I a Windows/Linux sheep? Am I not allowed to have brand preferences without being stigmatized because of other people that are fanatical about the same products that I enjoy? This car is not on the market, and if it was I wouldn't buy it because I think it's hideously ugly. I think it has some really awesome features though. If Mercedes, Cadillac, Lexus, or Audi come out with a really awesome EV that's comparable in price, or if a new company comes along and builds one that blows my hair back, then at that point I'll consider buying something other than a Tesla. The speed of an electric car today is almost entirely determined by the battery size. For example, the motors on a Tesla P100DL can output over 200 more horsepower than the battery can. This is because the battery can only release so much electricity at once. The only thing Tesla would need to do in order to make their car faster than this one is stick a larger battery under it.

The model s p100d with the new easter egg does 2.4. So this car does 1/100th of a second faster. Otherwise it is .11 seconds faster. How can you even claim that. It is a joke. Who cares about .01 or .11 faster?. What about the conditions of the road and the tires used? A model s still does 2.7 in the rain with a wet road for petes sake. Does this car even have effective traction control at all? So in order to do so, this car has to have more effective hp at over 1000. So that means you have less range than you could have with 130kwh than if you put a it in a tesla. Do you need such ridiculous numbers? Is that range even legitimate that they claim and accounts for eveyday use? Teslas range numbers are real world and have been shown.

Legal issues. Law requires cars to have things to hold up rear view mirrors, the law doesn't talk about the mirror though. It was originally teslas idea to do this but they didnt have the thingy that sticks out the side and ran into the legal issue, so they ditched the idea and added mirrors

Actually, many cars nowadays already have the speed limit. For example, it might be capable of going up to 240 km/s, but the computers, sensors and micro controllers limit it to something like 180 km/s.

Is it really a competition? Tesla's model 3 is 35k with pretty much every feature the model x and model s has, minus performance. This is starting at 150k. This isn't really competition, just a higher budget alternative. I guess thats why people are mad, because they want them to create an affordable car to challenge Tesla.
Firstly, the Model 3 only starts at $35k, most will be a lot more than that. I think they said the average config will be around $45k. Secondly, this is only their first car. Like Tesla's roadster, which was also well over $100k, they need something attention grabbing and something that they can make money on without needing to sell a huge number. Presumably they will be making less expensive models if this succeeds.
I'm not bashing them at all, I understand why they're going this route, I'm just pointing out that at least for the time being, they are no threat to Tesla. And although I understand they need money, I really wish they bumped down to the 100k price range so they can compete with not only Tesla but other luxury SUV's. At the current price point, the only competition would be something like a fully spec'd Range Rover or Mercedes G class, and I don't see most people opting for the FF91 in that scenario.
I appreciate the honest review and optimistic outlook on this new and ambitious concept. The fact that you own a product manufactured by a competitor says a lot about the potential of this vehicle. We definitely need more of this!

I don't think it can really compete. While it does a lot of things better, it is also significantly more expensive. Tesla is now focusing on the average consumer (with the model 3) and presumably will continue to do so with cheaper and cheaper cars.

Tesla was doing the same when testing their stripped down model S to m4s and other competitors before throwing all its luxuries in there. Pretty much every car company does that now-a-days. We'll just have to wait to see if the production model still holds it's own even after adding all of the luxuries. Bet It'll be pretty damn close though XD
JVP Do you have any proof of that? There is no "Stripped down" version of the model S. My brother owns a P100D, and I don't think anything this company creates will even come close to the sort of innovation Tesla is bringing to the market. It's not gonna touch Tesla's autopilot system (pretty much no car manufacturers are) and I highly doubt it will provide the same level of luxury a Model S or X has (Heated & cooled seats, automatic and falcon doors for the model X, Gigantic tablet in the center console, Free Super charger stations all across the United States that charge incredibly fast, Fantastic customer service from Tesla service centers all over the country, great fantastic features like geofencing and Automatic air suspension.) Not to mention the regular firmware updates Tesla pushes out all the time, continuously making their cars better over time. I seriously still could on but I think my point has been made.
My fault for not sharing the timeline. Before the model S could hit the hands of their consumers, they run a series of test. The car is usually a "stripped down to its essentials" version during these test similar to how this Faraday is looking. These versions are not sold to the public. The information gain from them is implemented into the production model tho. Tesla is cool. Faraday is cool. Can't wait to see a comparison should a production model hit the market :)
JVP No that's completely false. The P100D has been Vbox tested for a 2.5 0-60 time on the dragtimes channel, without the newly introduced Easter egg which will lower the time to 2.4, and was tested sub optimal conditions
(road temperatures, tire temperature, ambient temperature, etc.) with that sort of speed out of a consumer vehicle I expect the car to do 0-60 in the 2.3 range if not lower if it was completely stripped out like this Faraday Future is, and In completely optimal conditions.

There is still plenty of room to make improvements to the drivetrain via software. That 130kwatt battery has huge untapped potential from an engineering standpoint. The final production car will likely be even faster than 2.39s.

You are right, but they have to get people excited for their cars and at the very least talking about them. They are a new company and will most likely need to continue getting investors. FlameFlash - Ye, sure, it's $35,000 base model, throw in all the cool extras like autopilot, extended battery etc etc and I bet the cost will go up significantly, at that point it's out of reach of the average consumer again. Look at the model S, base cost is $70,000 but the average cost paid is over $100K. Plus, there are 400,000 people on the waiting list for model 3. You will be lucky if you ordered one now to get it in 2019. By then there will probably be something better and cheaper available. Don't get me wrong, I like Teslas but ye, all of above.
This car seems amazing. I cant wait to see further progress with it.
