At least He said it! at the end where he says to decrease the motion if it hurts. then increase once you get better. BC i was doing the full motion with pain and thought I one had to deal with it or two stop all together. very good tip He gave!
Thank you for this video! I've been looking for good stretches to do while I wait for the VA physical therapy to make an appointment (one month and counting)
Regarding sleeping position; I asked around, and the consensus is that if you sleep ON the affected shoulder, it helps somewhat. One; you’re not dealing with the dead weight of your arm moving and causing you pain. Two; your weight will compress the joint back into it’s socket and hold it there. This seems to diminish swelling a bit. My left shoulder froze after a car crash a year ago last November. So it’s been about thirteen months of gradual exercise rebuilding some mobility, although reaching up over my head is still a problem.
How would internal rotation strengthening help if impingement is when the humerus is in a forward position? Wouldn’t you need to do only the opposite, external rotation strengthening to align the ball and socket back and down?
Hello Very Helpful (I have impingement myself). Two comments. One, the last statement concerning pain and decreasing the range of motion should have been the FIRST statement as people will start doing the exercises as you explain them. Two, when you say to do two sets daily you don't say whether they should be done one set right after another once a day or actually one set and then a second set later in the day, or if it doesnt matter. If you can clarify the second issue, I would appreciate it. Dr. Ken.
Thank you....I have a question to ask. What do you do about the pain you get when you sleep? Is there a right position to sleep in or do I just have to tolerate the pain.?
Yes. I have a pillow under my chest, with a space to place my shoulder. Then my head is on another pillow. If you watch Bob and Brad a couple of physios, on utube they address this issue.
Is this going to be helpful even if the pain is when the arm is above the head? I'm thinking, all these exercises aren't hard for me at all, however when I lift a small weight from the side up through the arc, the pain begins at the fully horizontal point. Going higher hurts even more. Will these simple exercises work my particular problem muscles, in your opinion?
Can these be done if you have a partial rotator cuff tear? Good program, I have some doubts about the wall push ups though, shouldn't the arm stay straight and not bending? Push up plusses for example where the arm stays straight. No bending, thanks.
hello Dr first of all thank you for how you explain everything i have this problem for over 2 years and i have try all exercise and therapy but i still have this problem and i so tired of this that doctor say AC of my shoulder some how its swelling and he say just do exercise but nothing is helping and im so tired, if you can help me some how please ? thank you again
My PT prescribed the same exercises for my shoulder impingement syndrome. So I guess it can be used to strengthen the muscles after the injury has occurred.
Thank you for uploading this vid! I just injured my shoulder and this is a great rehab resource!

+William Carr When I sleep on my 'bum shoulder' I get extreme pain the next morning. Everybody's different.

are these exercises for preventing impingement only, or are they also helpful once the impingement had already occurred? Thanks!

@@Phamineit’s been 8 years now have these excercises healed your impingement or did you get surgery?
@@donmiller2705 It healed over time. It was a long process from what I remember. The exercises and shoulder openings for help with recovery
How many of the exercises to you suggest in one day?
Each exercise 2wice a day !!!
I have to continue if I feel pain?
He spoke about it. Decrease the range of motion.
Are you a robot?
the 3rd exercise made my impingement painful
I tried PT and it made mine painful too. The PT didn't seem concerned about it at all. It was excruciating at times.
