I finally had some free time to mod up my Pac Man machine with a 60 in 1. When I was finished the machine wouldn’t do anything. I went online researching some forums with no success until I remembered your countercade mod video. I have to say your video was a hundred times more informative than anything else online. I was able to get my 60 in 1 to work. Thanks Ralph!!

Neat little mod. I want build a couple small bartops too. Did not know DIY had that 60 in 1 board previously but that is good knowledge for future builds thanks again. Keep up the good work man , inspire the masses !! 🤘🕹 time to put on some Black Sabbath and veg on the couch for me though later!
I have Ms Pac Man, Pac Man, Frogger, Dig Dug, Space Invaders, Galaga, and Centipede in the 1 up arcade countercade..I’m going to get the Pac-Man 40th anniversary edition also but can anyone tell me if it’s any new cabinets that came out in 2021 that’s not on this list? Countercade only !! I like this size please let me know
In the settings screen if you turn off all the games but the 1 you play the most it will boot up right to the game instead of the i cade menus!
Just picked up a Centipede countercade at Marshall’s for 50 bucks. Couldn’t pass it up! I have plenty other cabinets I built but this is just fun.

Hey Ralph. Im doing this 60-1 retro with this same set up for my full size galaga cab...simply because its not to hard a mod and its one of the only ones out there to do the cabs with the vertical monitors. I would love for them to come up with a pandoras box with vertical board mod....especailly for questionable games that could be ok with vertical versions, like the punch outs, driving games, Popeye, timber, tapper, track and field, ect....Thanks for showing this video to show that I can at least mod the galaga or pacman cabs for something other than just the 2 games they come with.
Also after the recent CES--I'm super glad the countercade are coming down to the $100 price range...$200 was just way to much for what you get and then you gotta mod it and drop about 100-150 to do that.

I never thought about modding my Arcade1ups besides upgrading sticks and buttons but I got the Galaga Counter Cade from Walmart for $49 so I might give this a shot

I just picked up the Dig Dug/Dig Dug 2 countercade on Walmart.com for $99. That price point is about right for me, and I love Dig Dug! Would like to get a better joystick. The one on the arcade is a bit loose, or takes a lot of travel to input a direction.
Agreed, it’s a bit of a “wiggle stick”. Swap it out for sure 👍🏻
@@RetroRalph I picked up the Dig Dug when it was on sale before Christmas too, I think I paid $120, but love that game. Having said that I'd love to mod it or my Rampage cab, but am at a loss for 2 things. First you mentioned grounding the PCB's, I'm a bit fuzzy on how to go about doing something like that properly, and second, how to install and setup the software for the games. Or does that 60 in 1 board come with those games preloaded? Thanks again!
I just ordered a Galaga 1up countercade from walmart on sale for $50. I might consider modding it. Thx for the info! I really want Frogger!

You know there's a free play mode right? You don't need to wire in any weird coin buttons for free play.

Modding is cool only I think you rather buy one from China.
They are not cheap only most of the time they comes complete package deal with Pandora's Box or Key.

My dig dug countercade arrives today...ive already modded the space invaders cab with sanwa 4way gate joystick...as soon as i get home from work im gonna put pcb board from digdug into full size arcade1up space invaders to see if it will work.

@@dwarfer2309 No, because Arcade 1up has never mentioned plans to make a full size one, and I already have a modded Pac-man to play games on.
I'm buying it as a fan of Dig Dug, arcade style, the artwork, and officially licensed versions of Dig Dug and Dig Dug 2, which you can't get anywhere else. There was never even a standalone Dig Dug 2, it was only a conversion kit.

You mentioned you had issues with the video board, which is the key ingredient in these mods, but you edited out the discussion. What was the issue?

From the get-go I've said these are ridiculously priced and the screen is way too small. Maybe once they get severely discounted? A fun mod project at that point.

I bought a arcade 1up 17 tabletop or hang on the wall and comes with 8 games. Is it possible to add the 60 in one to the unit and if so where or what would I google to find someone to do it for me
I was going to get the Centipede countercade but I think I will hold off until the price drops on these. I was disappointed to see how small the screen is. Good review of your mod. By the way I’m interested in the shirt too, but not seeing the link.

I have added this Icade board to my Arcade1Up Space Invaders cab. I am running into a similar issue with my screen. There is like a 2” area at the top of the screen that is not used. I don’t know if there is any way to adjust the screen with the 60-in-1 itself. Or maybe some kind of video board adjustment. Did you ever get yours fixed? I am just using vga from the 60-in-1 to the video board.
They had them for $99 dollars doing Christmas season! I’ll pay $99 dollars for it and mod it the way I want to!

Yes, this was before there was a video board compatible with the built in screen. This is a pretty old video at this point.
Are the guts of the mini arcade1up bartops same as the standup arcade1up units? As in could u take a digdug thats coming out and put cpuboard in a standup space invaders? Thanks
As of right now you can't transfer the boards around, they won't work. I'm working with a few people to come up with a solution but nothing has been discovered as of yet.
Thank you so much for letting me know...was gonna order digdug from walmart and put cpu in my space invaders....im surprised arcade1up didnt stay uniform on this bc u can take the wave 1 and 2 cpu's and switch them around....i have galaga in my space invaders cab now.....what a bummer!! 😃
David Deming I will put a disclaimer on this that I haven’t tested every wave 2 board, just MK and the Pac Man Countercade Board.
If u get a quick second free maybe try putting pacman/pacnpal board in the mk cab to see if it works...i got this idea for digdug by watching ur pacman barcade video and it looked like everything was uniform...thank you again so much for responding....greatly appreciated plus may save me $200 on digdug purchase if it doesnt work 😃👊

How did you wire in the test switch? Instead of a switch could you use an arcade button?

How did you know which lead off the joystick direction and the buttons were ground?
I noticed each button only has two wires coming off of it
Does it matter which is ground
Can someone help me? I purchased a 60-1 Blee and i seem to have wired it correctly as the lights flash solid green after power up and blinking green on the second light but the games never seem to start up. It always boots to service screen and I have verified that the dip switch #4 is off and not in service mode. I have two of these boards and it seems to be doing it with both boards. I also have multiple harnesses. One player and two player harnesses. Please Help, thanks!!!
Boot the board without the Jamma harness connected to see if the issue is with the button wiring

Retro Ralph, you need to start selling these modded projects you build. I have money but I don't have skills.
I would not buy this cab and mod it like you did, what I would do is buy some 1/2" MDF board, cut out the pieces I need then order online the kit and it would cost me about $150.00 but I do like your effort you put into it and it looks nice.

These things should be 60+ games to begin with. $200 for 1-2 games is BS.

Great brake down for this mod. No i would go with the full size cad arcade1up pacman if i had room for it. I agree if you do not have the room for the big brother this is perfect. Great video buddy I've done similar stuff with full size arcades in cabarets and yeah two hundred bucks is definitely too much money for something that size when you could literally build retropie Cabaret machine for not much more money

I liked the mod you did, if only some company would make a 60 in one for $200 It's what I would by, but if it just cam with 2 games from arcade 1 up its too much for me.
What's approx total cost for this build?
That button layout sucks. I know originally pacman was just the joystick so the company wasn't really worried about putting them in a functional place.

No offense I find it odd that different games appear on cabinets that are different such as Donkey Kong on a Pacman cabinet. Don't knock your work, I could never mod a game.
I added speakers to my street fighter 1up cabinet with a volume dial. I wouldn't advise using the same speakers as they're quite difficult to install but it's pretty sweet. As seen in this link imgur.com/gallery/s8wdt81

I'm working on that. As of right now, I haven't found a video controller that will work with the stock monitor. That's the only way to make this even remotely cost effective. Stay tuned as I'm working with a few others to try and figure it out. Thanks for watching!

Definatly not worth it. Anyone who is seriously wanting to expand these are better not getting one at all ($200 for it to be gutted and pay more for the icade jamma board ..wow!). You are better getting a bartop kit, a cheap LCD monitor (I paid £15 for a computer monitor) and a joystick/button set with a pandoras box. I built my 2 player for £200 all in and included spray paint, tmoulding and screws with a cheap set of speakers. You could go the whole hog and design bezels and add a marquee and scanline generator if you wanted too. It was a project I loved doing and is really cheaper than buying a prebuilt one or one of these.

ugh, to much work. rather buy one already done. I have a 60-1 with track ball on a full sized taito cab, and i used to have a 48-1 on a capcom varth cab. I bought a varth board to make my varth cab stock, so i have an extra 48-1, that I would like to put into my arcade 1-up bartop dig dug (walmart.com 99.99)... but now after watching this, there is way to much stuff to order and to much wires, converters, etc. i would rather pay someone 100.00 and pay 50.00-65.00 in parts to get it modded. it will end up being 250-265.00 for a 48-1 on it. not bad. i would like to have the bartop in my house, as my pinball machines and cabs are in my hot ass garage.

What u need mod is that small ass screen. Please cover that whole screen with a bezel. It looks like u have an ipad screen and it looks horrible.
