@Farrister it just seems odd that they'd leave such a big weakness for 400 years. Plus, the S5s aren't going to be as good at taking down fighters as the S3s, so it still won't be good at dealing with fighters, just not absolutely hopeless. Or even just add 2X S3s to the S7 turrets like the Javelin does.

I feel the Perseus will also excel at supply/logistics disruption/harassment. Big enough to be a major threat to those industrial/logistics ships, whilst also having a very modest crew requirement. You can use 3-4 crew assets to disrupt a large array of operations behind the lines. This will require assets to peel off from the main engagement zones to hunt you down. You mad lad, you did it. LOVE IT! I can't wait for this bruiser to get into the game, it would make for one hell of an escort for the larger Hull series ships or convoys. Love the ship, love the video!
It's my dream ship. My favorite ship in Elite dangerous was the Federal Corvette. This thing has Federal Corvette energy. I feel like I'm just waiting for this one ship to go live lol..... none of the other ships matter to me. Some day.... some day...
I've been thinking about org fleets lately, and the more I think about it, the more I feel like a mercenary/escort org would do really well to operate one Perseus and one or two Redeemers as a compact unit. From what I understand, they should both have similar, long ranges, so long haul escorting is no problem. They require pretty small crews for their firepower, so you don't need to split the contract up between too many people or use it all on ship upkeep. And they complement each other's roles well, the Perseus dealing with any larger attacks while the redeemer fights off smaller fighters. For the kind of routine escort work where you're moving through dangerous space but shouldn't expect a massive fleet to come bearing down on you, it feels like an appropriate mix of capability and frugality. As a fringe bonus, if your merc contract involves ground combat, the Perseus should be able to carry along a vehicle and the Redeemer has those extra jump seats. If you're just providing protection and not doing a hot insertion, they should be perfectly fine for transporting ground forces. In both of these roles, the natural next addition would be a Liberator if you wanted to scale up. It can shuttle some shorter ranged fighters for space escort, or some serious ground support. If we think about this as being a smaller unit of a mid sized org, perhaps the org operates a couple of these Perseus/Redeemer groups and has a Liberator in reserve for a contract that requires more oomph. When it's not being used for carrying an escort wing, you could even offer it as extra transportation for whoever you're escorting. Same with the Perseus' hold.
This ship should be label as a corvette, like the Polaris and Hammerhead. Also love this ship, but i feel with the current meta, the Polaris is going to be the better option. I guess we shall see.
@@Farrister I think the Polaris is better than the Perseus by 50 meters, yet somehow the Perseus is consider a bigger class of ship than the Polaris. Maybe it a typo with CIG.
judging based on the look of the ship, i could swear that this was one of those silhouettes that they showcased on the ships that they planned on putting in active development. if that's the case this would be awesome!
The Perseus is the brother of the Hammerhead. Want to kill a lot of small ships? Get a Hammerhead. Want to kill a big ship? Get a Perseus. One of each is functionally equivalent to a capital ship.
Eeeeeeh... I would say the Hammerhead approaches the anti fighter capabilities of a Javelin class destroyer. Javelin has 30x S4 weapons for anti fighter compared to 24 on the Hammerhead. The bigger difference is that the Javelin has 26x S7 rail guns compared to just 4x S7 weapons on the Perseus. The Javelin also has 8x S8, and 32 size 12 torpedos. I would bet that a lone Hammerhead or Perseus getting within range of a Javelins weapons would pose only a minor inconvenience. Without multiple sub-class ships, along with fighters/bombers, the threat of a few size 7 weapons is minimal.
I struggle to tell you how much I am looking forwards to this ship. Thanks Farrister, loving the dry dock content. May be nice to add the internal mapping of the ships if you can find one? Can we have one on the Kraken at some point please ? Another ship in really excited for because of the endless possibilities it offers.

This is definitely one of my most anticipated ships, I think the only one I want to pilot more is the Odyssey. Right now I'm basically using the Redeemer (with my friends) as a Mini-Perseus and it's been great. As I typically play with 2-4 (additional) players, I never had enough friends online to fully crew a Hammerhead (still took it out a couple times though).
I am SUPER excited for the Perseus. Its probably my favorite ship so far that ive looked in to and i am probably one of the few who is more excited for the Perseus than the Polaris. If i have the money im probably gonna buy it as soon as it comes out. All hail the Perseus!
I realy hope that they make like the connies a lot of other variants for the perseus, i like it now already, but i hope a lighter armored one that it can be a solo ship
I like the Perseus because from what I understand its sort of like a 2023 Camaro or Mustang... uses the spirit of the original 60's cars, but with modern power and handling... In otherwords, the Perseus that we will get in game, is the modern interpretation of the classic ship, like the Zues mark 2. This variant will include a drop down cargo elevator like the Connies that can fit an Ursa rover ( if not the exact elevator out of the connie knowing how cig likes to do things. ) But anywho, it seems like a tank of a ship that would be perfect for going way way out into a sketchy area to look for something not knowing what trouble you may find, possibly throw a Fury or two in it for if you come across an annoying Gladius and Mantis combo.
How do I feel about your drydock series? "I fuckin love it." When I saw it pop up in my lil yt feed, it LITERALLY made my Friday afternoon. There is no limit to the number of details or explanations you provide in these videos for me, the more the better. (If that helps.) Perseus is my IT ship. I had a BMM, then, after a certain episode of IR and them discussing the Perseus, i just fell head over heels for it. I like the size, I like the punch, crew number. I dont care if it's slower than other ships it's size. I hope this thing comes with the armor we keep hearing about, the ever present danger of a Perseus just ramming an Org capital ship is enough to keep any group on their toes. I hear all the time about what people want to "be" in SC. Ok.. I want to be a Sub-Capital Perseus Combat Ship Captain, damn it... I actually am glad they'll be using their experience from the Polaris to build it. Make your mistakes on the Torpedo hog, get that design language down, then bring that expertise to my football field sized metal ship of JUSTICE and GLORY. Farrister, these videos ARE AWESOME!!! Thank you.
I really love the design of the Perseus, but unfortunately CIG is not actively developing the ship, Devs decided to work on the Polaris and not going to lie I prefer they make Persus.
First, love your vids. Truly entertaining and a refreshing watch compared to a lot of our content makers who are “salty” and “grumpy” and do nothing but bitch all the time. Keep it up. I love the Perseus. The crew of 3 makes it usable. You never see hammerheads. Ever. There’s a reason….. Last point. Range is never mentioned with the Perseus. The Ares range is noted as 8km. If this has that range in a “small” capital it makes it a big threat for Krakens and Javelins who may have the range but would have a hard time hitting the “small” cap ship while they get pummelled as they can’t dodge. There’s word this may get ammo types. If there’s a S7 flak or canister round…. Fighters could also suffer. Anyway, I love the Perseus and what I think it will be able to do/be. Ones in my hanger. Party on everyone!! And remember! Don’t be grumpy or salty!!
I can be salty and grumpy too :D I dunno, I see it differently. Take the Javelin for example. Yes, it might be hard to hit the Perseus with the big STS cannons at the back. But the 'smaller' turrets on top are all still likely armed with size 7 weapons. So the Perseus has 4 size 7 weapons. The Javelin has 26. And on turrets. It's why I don't think the Perseus is likely to be a risk for a properly crewed capital ship on a 1v1 basis. But I can imagine instead in a chaotic fight where the cap ship doesn't realise that there's a Perseus shooting at it, it's kind of an unchecked threat. I think the Perseus will be a bigger threat for things like a solo Hammerhead, or 890 JUMP, or Retaliator, or Constellation etc. but those are just my thoughts!
@@FarristerYup. I FULLY see it your way, IF those caps are crewed fully, which is my point. 9 crew means 3 fully equipped Perseus. 14 crew, or full Polaris crew…. I don’t even remember a Kraken crew compliment….. is how many Perseus? My main concern is crew. Again, it’s really rare to see a fully equipped hammerhead. I HOPE that’s not an issue as I want to see all these ships. Period. Now as for Grumpy and Salty…. I’m sorry man…. You ain’t that. I love your channel because yes you will point out the negative, but that’s not normal. You continue to be entertaining and interesting without going there. If you look at those channels, it’s all they do now. It’s very negative and disappointing. And it drags the community down. Continue to be one of my favourites. And party on!! ** And an edit…. It kinda looks shaped like a Star Destroyer. Maybe 2-3 Fury’s in the cargo hold may be pretty cool fighter defence! That would be an epic scene seeing 3 Ties…. I mean Fury’s coming out the bottom cargo bay.
@@Farrister I also feel like you give us insights into the larger ships that I'm not finding elsewhere. For instance, the Perseus... I feel like I understand where the ship fits into the grand scheme of things having watched your video. I also appreciate understanding it's potential for minimal crew vs some of the larger capital ships.
Absolutely love the look of this ship and the fact it was instrumental during the Battle of Oberon (my gamer tag, Oberon617), it really is a no brainer for me. The crew requirement is more appealing when compared to the Polaris. My only reservation is that it lacks a small hanger which I feel would justify its price a little better and aid with self defence.
True enough, most ships in the game lack something that would make them a good allrounder, and that what makes the game more interesting. If one ship had everything, then you would only ever see that one ship in game and all the others would be left gathering dust.@@Farrister
While I have agreed with you about ships having limitations and there not being a boring "one ship fits all" in the game, I cant help analysing the generic features for a ship of this price. If you compare with a similar priced ship like the Carrack, ignore the role equipment like big guns or drone room/workshops etc and focus on general facilities, I think the Perseus is lacking a little in that respect. A small hanger for a snub/shuttle as well as a tier 3 med bed to stabilise casualties would bring generic facilities in line with its price point. £650 is a lot of money for solely 2 big guns and sparse general facilities. That being said, I still love it and cant wait to fly mine in game. @@Farrister
I think for a naval classification I'd probably say corvette in modern parlance, or gunboat/ironclad in c. 1900 parlance. I think it's far too small to be considered a cruiser or frigate, and lacking in facilities.
I really like this ship in its general concept and in visual presentation, I just hope that they move the rear blade turret to a more useful spot than the butt crack of the ship, and consider adding at least one (or more pls) of the facilities that you would expect out of a sub cap ship such as an armory, medbay, extra small hangar, brig etc. I doubt we will get any of that but it feels like it will come out as a stinker of a ship if its lacking the useful and gameplay adding internal facilities that are found on other similar sized ships. The poor blade turret/pds coverage meant for torps and small fighters could also doom both its solo and fleet combat potential if its cant even reliably protect itself from a lone light/medium fighter or torp on its own. Perhaps its eventual armor will make up for these possible shortcomings. Hopefully I'm wrong about it turning out bad.
I'm very much looking forward to the Perseus. It seems to be in the sweet spot of personnel requirements and battlefield impact and it just looks so nice. It does however carry the usual CIG brand poor design with point defence blindspots. Weak defence would be perfectly fine but the front is only partially defended by the top small turret and since you need to point your torpedo tubes at the target you're extremely vulnerable to torpedoes yourself since there's nothing to cover you.
You might be right, although perhaps that's where some battle mechanics start to come into play (eg limited payloads, reload timers etc.) - gotta decide when to release those torps for max effect!
@@Farrister well I bought this game first for me, but more and more it becomes a game I bought for my kids with all the ships I bought. It's a nice gift for them.
Definitely can't wait for this ship along side the polaris and galaxy. Hopefully they release this ship soon after they announced that they're working on it 🎉🎉
just gunna note to fully crew this thing it is 100% 6 or even more, as you need 1 pilot 4 gunners an engineer or 2 and some other roles like first officer ect.
Maybe, I'm not so sure. I think pilot, 2 gunners, (maybe) an engineer, I imagine most people will run the 2 remote turrets as automated. I think other large ships will have a much larger crew requirement, I think the Perseus might end up being in a bit of a niche of relatively low... I might be wrong!
The Perseus original design does NOT have shields. It relies 100% on armour. Meaning, this is the most heavily armoured ship in the game. (And the reason why its shield seems so weak.) according to lore 1 Perseus defeated 2 Idrisses.
Having a ship that can reach its maximum large ship capability with just 3 crew is crazy. Sure someone for engineering and the smaller guns would be great, but if you strike first with all that power what defence do you even need? Also considering that you can take down a hammerhead in an ares, 4x that fire power could absolutely just melt other large ships.
These s7 ballistic canons may be even more dangerous that some people realise since not only do they penetrate shields (unless CIG decides to remove shield pen on larger projectiles) but they will also be able ot load different ammo types like Incendiary, disarray (distortion) and flak ammunition which are on the roadmap. This will give it more versitility against different types of targets.
I would call it a destroyer focused on taking down ships that are a class above the perseus with its torpedoes. Though, I would've exchanged the s3 guns for 4x2xs2 AA/AF remote turrets and maybe add 4/5 space depth charges to be able to ward off torpedoes up to s7. To me it feels like a underspecced destroyer that magically held its own against vanduul according to lore. I would call this a torpedoboat if it had smaller main guns but that's not the case here.
It's so odd that they keep downgrading the co-pilot and other operational positions to basically having to just sit on their hands. It seems they need to do a LOT more development to actually get these ships to the point where they are actually multi crew.
Being on the bridge and seeing that massive S7 turret in front of you slew round to a target before unleash its rounds will be quite an experience I think!
I hope the S7 guns on the Perspiration are more effective than the ones on the Ares fighters

You mad lad, you did it. LOVE IT! I can't wait for this bruiser to get into the game, it would make for one hell of an escort for the larger Hull series ships or convoys. Love the ship, love the video!
BRUISER! That's the word I wanted! Glad you enjoyed this one
It's my dream ship. My favorite ship in Elite dangerous was the Federal Corvette. This thing has Federal Corvette energy. I feel like I'm just waiting for this one ship to go live lol..... none of the other ships matter to me. Some day.... some day...
Some day...
It's awesome to see what ships will come to play in-game!
Loving this new Drydock series. Keep up the good work!
I like that idea!
This ship should be label as a corvette, like the Polaris and
Hammerhead.
Also love this ship, but i feel with the current meta, the Polaris is going to be the better option. I guess we shall see.
It's kinda almost at that size, yeah
@@Farrister I think the Polaris is better than the Perseus by 50 meters, yet somehow the Perseus is consider a bigger class of ship than the Polaris. Maybe it a typo with CIG.
Polaris is classed as Capitol, in game now
Thr design language of the Perseus is my jam.
Triangle fan? :D
@@Farrister more not having the bridge at the front.
just love the Perseus dont know if I would be able to fully man it but a pilot and a gunner would be fun if the AA was auto / blades
Looking forward to a future Merchantman and RSI Galaxy Drydock episode!
judging based on the look of the ship, i could swear that this was one of those silhouettes that they showcased on the ships that they planned on putting in active development. if that's the case this would be awesome!
It is! They are working on it right after the Polaris.
Love the look another great vids great layout to the info
Thanks :)
Such a cool ship, huge fan of the Perseus, Polaris, Galaxy flying wedges.
Flying triangles!
Kraken is next in the list!
@@Farrister sweet!
Nothing like having the two sharks patrolling together with the support of a Tali
That sounds cool!
Wish they give Perseus the same turrets as the Javelin with the anti-torpedo point-defense secondary guns for gunners.
Really enjoying this new drydock series. And am rather excited for these ships to be ingame one day.
Me too!
One thing I’ve been wondering about the little lore snippets that mention characters like admiral bishop. Do we expect that at least some of those lore bits refer to squadron 42 events?
Thats more disclaimers than a lawfirm, holy shit...
Haha you gotta be really careful with Star Citizen, this is a game where hopes and dreams get mixed with developer statements and become misinformation FAST.
@@Farrister weird, its the opposite from conspiracy theories - those usually all turn out to be true within a year of some censoring outfit "debunking" it...
Well done. Wish it had one more point defense and med bed so it could be used like a coast guard cutter.
I guess that's what you'd use the bigger ships for!
One of the coolest looking big ships, IMO.
I’ve always loved the peruse! I hope to be able to own one one day
One day!
Love your demeanor and your videos. Perseus looks like a badass compliment to the hammerhead and also to other operations. It also looks like a hammerhead killer.
Yes, the Odyssey’s exterior design is awesome. Much more muscular/stout/sturdy(?) looking than the Carrack imo.
I am SUPER excited for the Perseus. Its probably my favorite ship so far that ive looked in to and i am probably one of the few who is more excited for the Perseus than the Polaris. If i have the money im probably gonna buy it as soon as it comes out. All hail the Perseus!
Love the drydock content!
Yay for drydock :)
I realy hope that they make like the connies a lot of other variants for the perseus, i like it now already, but i hope a lighter armored one that it can be a solo ship
I do wonder if the Perseus will get the flak rounds stated to be with the Javelin since they use the same guns.
That would be cool!
Great video as always and I also enjoy the Drydock Vids. Just a sidenote: there's a blank in the link to the lore video, so it's not working
Good spot! Thank you, I think I fixed it now
How do I feel about your drydock series? "I fuckin love it." When I saw it pop up in my lil yt feed, it LITERALLY made my Friday afternoon. There is no limit to the number of details or explanations you provide in these videos for me, the more the better. (If that helps.)
Perseus is my IT ship.
Thank you.
Thank You for this video. Always enjoy some ship pron.
Great format! Can't wait to lowfly the Perseus!
Haha that's a bit too serious for me!
@@Farrister then let me take you on a canyon tour of Daymar when we get it in game! :P
@@KarlKaput that sounds ominous lol
I really love the design of the Perseus, but unfortunately CIG is not actively developing the ship, Devs decided to work on the Polaris and not going to lie I prefer they make Persus.
I imagine one will follow the other
First, love your vids.
A heads up since you only have one day left Carrack to Perseus Warbond is only $15 for a $75 upgrade.
This and the Polaris will be my new box mission ships until something bigger and tougher, that can land gets put in the game.
Love the Drydock series.
They're fun to make!
The Perseus should get size 8 guns and more PDS for torpedo protection!
theangriestgamer did an amazing video "the Perseus doesn't have to suck"
Absolutely love the look of this ship and the fact it was instrumental during the Battle of Oberon (my gamer tag, Oberon617), it really is a no brainer for me. The crew requirement is more appealing when compared to the Polaris. My only reservation is that it lacks a small hanger which I feel would justify its price a little better and aid with self defence.
Can't always have everything on one ship!
@@Farrister
The issue is that the light fighter mafia wont be able to solo it or get one shotted by it so CIG will have to nerf it to uselessness. JK
Let's hope not!
A Perseus with 2-3 Scorpius will be a force to be reckoned with
I can imagine
So the Perseus is either a Medium Cruiser or a Light Frigate? If a naval classification is appropriate?
Feel like this and the zeus mr should be put into production in prep for bounty hunting 2.0
if we wait long enough the ship will also be 100 years old in our life time before the game will be out haha.
I don't even want to think about that lol
@@Farrister well I bought this game first for me, but more and more it becomes a game I bought for my kids with all the ships I bought. It's a nice gift for them.
Cant wait to get my hands on mine !
Definitely can't wait for this ship along side the polaris and galaxy. Hopefully they release this ship soon after they announced that they're working on it 🎉🎉
At least it's just modelling time that's needed for the most part, the core gameplay is already in game
@@Farrister exactly aye
This is the ship for me. Its the one im trying to be parient for.
Big guns!
Like the way you did this video
Thank you :)
The Perseus is the ship that they need to start with as we expand upwards into the capital realm.
love it, probebly great to attack a hull c
The Perseus greatest weakness are heavy fighters (light fighters won’t have the power to get through its armour) and torpedo bombers.
Quite possibly!
just gunna note to fully crew this thing it is 100% 6 or even more, as you need 1 pilot 4 gunners an engineer or 2 and some other roles like first officer ect.
I might be wrong!
im just so curious how the Refining gameplay will be implemented when Galaxie comes in game with its refinery
Or the Expanse!
So...any idea when this would be released to the PU?
No idea!
Probably 2025, since currently the Pipeline is Polaris, then Galaxy and then the Perseus
When Will it be released
The Perseus original design does NOT have shields. It relies 100% on armour. Meaning, this is the most heavily armoured ship in the game. (And the reason why its shield seems so weak.) according to lore 1 Perseus defeated 2 Idrisses.
Will be interesting to see how the introduction goes
This will give it more versitility against different types of targets.
this and the starliner are definitely ones id buy if i wasnt lacking the money for them. and if they were actually released
Seems like a perfect patrol craft.
I hope that Perseus wont just be a ship but a Class itself like the Yamato class ships
I think that's the expectation, although the Yamato were battleships, this is more of a gunboat I think
I really hope they nail the power, damage and sound of those guns. I really do. They need to pack some serious punch.
Love the Perseus
Not the only one it seems!
Still trying to make up my mind if I want to add this one to the fleet.
I expect this ship to be extremely popular in game play. A great ship for a group of players not at the true org-level.
Agreed
Wonder how a fight between one of these and a bmm would go
Feel like this thing would be mean to a BMM - but need to see more updated stats of it first!
@@Farrister well just have to wait and see, I know I’ll be trying to go after a Percy with it least once haha
*atleast
Cant wait for mine hehe
i just want to do mission with few friends and compleat the arlington mission with this
Idris is likely to hit Perseus very hard...
It's so odd that they keep downgrading the co-pilot and other operational positions to basically having to just sit on their hands.
It seems they need to do a LOT more development to actually get these ships to the point where they are actually multi crew.
Can I triple speed of video?
It needs two more remote turrets to defense against torpedoes.
Some, or most, ships in SC look like crap but this ship looks like a proper Spaceship.
Another favorite is the Odyssey - a beautiful ship!
