I already have a cargo ship that holds more than the CL, so I went with the ES. I don't think they used the space they took away from the cargo bay very efficiently. Without a side-by-side you would be hard-pressed to notice the difference in the crew quarters. And the interior is in a very dark color that makes rooms feel smaller.
I have been mulling this over too, but thought to keep as is because: - some ships have multiple roles - almost every ship has armament and defences - some ships don't yet have their role in game, so I can't review that I tend to pick up the role performance in sections 4 and 5 anyway
@@Farrister Ah snap... should have checked the comments first before making my response about this. As said in my comment, it is clear you stick to the facts and what is enabled in the PTU as of this time, so I get it.
This is the only Zeus variant I intend to keep. The CL is cut out and replaced with the Max, and the MR is TBD... The ES is the perfect solo explorer vessel with the only risk being there's no medical features available. And for an explorer, you absolutely need some for of medical. Very good video. Your format is on point and focusses on the facts of what is possible in the current PTU environment. That said, the ES is an Exploration ship. Comparing the cargo capacity with the C1 Spirit or the Zeus CL is unfair and doing it a disservice, as the gameplay it was made for is not yet in the game. Same with having a segment solely on combat will not do much for freighters or cargo ships compared to, well, combat ships. (ES vs MR comes to mind once the second sister ship releases) Again, I get it, you are doing little to no theorycrafting to not muddy expectations, but a disclaimer* that the ship's role does not lend it primarily to either combat nor transport tasks might be prudent. All that out of the way, your video format is very good, you have a clean structure and you explain everything very clearly. Keep it up :) *disclaimer should be dynamic based on the intended role of the ship you review at the time.
Rent a ship or get a lift to another station, claim your CL there, also transfer your medical ID to the new station, remember to take all the gear you need until you return, or there is a new patch.
Excellent Farrister quality as always. I have bought the MR variant my self and now when I've been flying this ES variant as a loaner I might need to buy this one as well. Its so practical and the space inside the ship is well used. Every corner of the ship has been properly thought out and there is a lot of excellent features. I personally chose the MR variant because I wanted the armory instead of kitchen area. But there is a little catch in all Zeus variants. Their door frames are wide enough from the top that you can fit 1 or 2 scu box thru them! That way you can easily make your kitchen area to be a small armory by placing there 1SCU boxes! This ship is like dream comes true. And couple things to add: Those weapon racks look like they have 6 slots for side arms per rack, but actually top 3 of them are for pistols and the lower 3 for med guns and multitools. Cargo bay fit officially 32 scu of cargo, but if you don't use the grid you can fit there at least 2x24 scu boxes side by side plus some more around them. You can also fit one 32 scu box diagonally in there plus some smaller ones around it. So the cargo hold is way bigger than you might think. Al thought I would not buy it for dedicated cargo ship, since the CL is made for that. But if you find any size box from somewhere you know that it will fit into the cargo bay.
I like the Zeus as it feels zippy and nimble for a pilot used to Corsairs and Connies. I also noticed that it’s twice as fast as a Connie in atmosphere - making the run out of Orison pleasant. The Zeus ES is currently the only ship in SC that comes with an S3 radar, which I expect will become an advantage in Pyro.
One of the biggest negatives of the Zeus line-up, which was not mentioned, is that you cannot use a medical Ursa with it. After the latest medical changes, having a respawn/healing option nearby to any ground operation(s), being solo or in a group, has become a must-have need/requirement for fps players, which heavily weighs these days on which ship to buy/use.
if you rely on this thats bad because i am tellign you CIG will say after some testing they are reverting the respawn in nursa. They just need enough time and space between the cash grab to do it with some face.
If anyone is in the game for the long haul, just save yourself some angst, and deposit a level of cash into your account, then when a ship withing your budget drops/or change......buy it, then melt, and repeat as needed. When buying ships people need to stay away from stats, just enjoy the game, CIG will take care of stats.
I usually don't look at how good a ship will be, more so how much I like it. Imo, that is the most important thing. That being said, I still don't think you should be able to respawn at most beds, but that is a long discussion for reddit, lolm
The 128 SCU capacity that the CL has is only if you use small boxes. If you're doing the cargo hauling missions, the CL cannot do medium hauls despite that 128 SCU capacity. So might as well get the ES and stick with the small and extra small hauling missions.
I love my Zeus Cargo ship, just not a fan of the cargo grid trying to load full amount, the rear entrance it's very forgiving when trying to load, but everything else is great!
Once again thanks for another amazing tour! I already own a CL and MR, but this a great overview. This doesn't happen very often with your content, but at 5:17 you're referring to a fuse as a relay if I'm not mistaken. o7
@@Farrister ooh! I'll take a look! Sorry for the quick judgement, on other ships these things used to be called fuses, so probably my bad >_> Most of this stems from me not visiting the PU (or SC at all for that matter) for 2-3 months.. There's so much coming (soonTM) that I find interesting, that the game felt a bit empty in its state then and when the (for me) interesting patch finally dropped, it wasn't playable for over a week and haven't had the urge to jump in
Firstly, love your ship tours! Great format, although with this one, I found your external walkaround seemed quite rushed (no mention of this ships ability to access the roof of the ship from the airlock. A useful feature when landing at a hostile location and using the ships shields as cover!). For me, I've been looking for a daily driver for some time. Used to be a Connie T, but it's slow speed and old design held me back from truly loving it in this role. Enter the Zeus Mk 2 ES! I find this ship has many hidden features which I love. From having 3 separate internal storage areas (being a loot goblin), ability to load a ROC (Nursa would have been ideal) and inclusion of 3 points of ingress/egress (as you mentioned, the secure ladder near the flight deck is really useful). The biggest drawback of using this ship is the CL! That tractor beam and increased cargo area just opens up a whole new gameplay loop. But that being said, if you are an RP citizen, the roomier hab area of the ES is nicer. Keep up the good work, and I look forward to your next vid!
The Zeus Mk 2 ES is among the best CIG has crafted up to now. I am especially happy to see a good lateral window in the crew mess area with yet another window enabling a glimpse of that exterior view from the hall. I am also impressed with both the forward boarding ladder and that nifty docking collar with its sort of porch. A feature which also enable topside access to the ship as a bonus. Two things which I'd suggest for the Zeus ES would be air shields across both the ladder entry and that docking collar. It would save the ship from depressurizing and or contaminating the ship's interior. The other thing would be to give the crew quarters couch a focus like a screen, deployable table, a facing chair, or even reading lights.
@Farrister Not a topside ladder, but on another review video another person demonstrated walking out from the side docking hatch out onto that porch. They then accessed the topside of the Zeus by simply walking left at the end of the porch. I like topside access with ships, so it's something I notice. The forward ground side entry ladder is another great feature of the Zeus, but it'd be nice to have an air shield across it. Sorry if I was misleading regarding the ladder.
Finally the review! But we know you where occupied from citizencon. I upgraded from C1, because I never used the whole cargo space capacity, and for me 32 scu is quite good!. The ladder entrance is very very useful, I use it the most of the times. the QT is amazing, is really a very long haul ship. Compared with the C1, I feel is less maneuverable and less speady also, but still are good in those stuff. The airlock is also very useful when you have to go to the vacuum of the space, and by the way, even in atmosphere, you now you can walk away the top of the ship from this airlock? Interesting and funny fact! So then, prepared for explorations in 4.0 now!
As always, very enjoyable review and spot on in almost every area. The only thing I'd disagree with is the opinion that the CL is a comparable option. This happens with a lot of ship reviews where large cargo space is always viewed as making a ship "better". Being a mostly combat focused player (both ship and FPS) and often playing with other people, I don't need most of that space. I actually find cargo hauling to be one of my least favorite activities. The back of the ES provides enough for a cyclone and a nox at the same time. Enough if you need ground vehicles for you and 2 people (I usually run with just a cyclone if solo) and the extra gun rack next to the hab is handy if you have two friends who want to join and you don't want to waste time running around for them to grab weapons. Just jump in and grab the ones I've already looted ;P
I bought the CL version of the Zeus MK2 last year as a stepping stone for cargo besides my Nomad and the loaner C1 I used before the Zeus dropped. Right now it is probably gonna be my daily driver throughout the 'verse instead of my Nomad.
I love this ship - upgraded my starter to it. The form of it is just perfect. Design-wise it's everything i like. Visually 10/10 (especially with the paints - the "Argo-Paint" makes it look so cool) and flies well too. I use it for ROC Mining. However i wish there was an ACTUAL exploration game loop in game.... Honestly, the ability to set custom markers and maybe sell them to other players or so would be enough of a starting point. You could explore and scan for good rocks to mine or wrecks to salvage and sell it to others. That again makes me wonder what's so hard about custom location markers and why we STILL don't have them..... That alone is a change that would make the game a lot better with very little effort.... I mean people are already doing it with a box from a cheap cargo mission they drop at the place they want to mark.... Is it that hard to put an item that does exactly that in the game? :(
I was incredibly split between keeping my C1 or upgrading to the CL or ES variants. I ended up upgrading to the ES, everytime I get inside an explorer ship, I get amazed by all the liveries and rooms inside. I can't wait for explorer and pathfinder ships gameplay to drop, so I can use it to it's maximum extent. Meanwhile, I have a good ship that fits all my needs. Now, if I come back to a ship purely meant for cargo, I thing I'm going back to the C1, some people complain about the Zeus not having a cargo bay as practical as the Zeus CL, although twice as large. Also, being able to lock yourself in while loading cargo with the tractor beam is another plus for the C1
I went for the CL, liked the styling and multiple entries for a cargo ship. I'm also banking on it being one of the larger cargo holds capable of going through a small jump point. I think it matches in size to another ship that CIG has said would be the limit of small JP's.
@@Farrister I haven't been paying the closest attention, but I haven't seen anything to suggest they wouldn't be. JP sizes are an interesting way to 'balance' the smaller ships against the large ones.
I was pretty enthusiastic about the Zeus ES early on, and it IS an incredibly well thought out ship with a lot going for it, but the luster wore off pretty quickly as I was flying around in it. As a combat-avoidant solo player, I honestly didn't ever feel the usefulness of the second shield generator, although that's definitely one of the main things to its advantage. The biggest plus that I found was in the numerous weapons lockers and egress points, which meant, as you pointed out, there's a ton of versatility in the ship, if you've got the hand-held bits to capitalize on whatever you find while you're out wandering. It makes for a good mobile base of operations for your travels, ensuring that whatever you need can be on hand. The problem I had was just this: With the interior 'hab' areas being deep gray and blue, they feel neither spacious nor personalized, and aren't interesting to be in. As you pointed out, in this respect, you honestly lose very little by switching to the CL, and for a combat-avoidant solo player, that cargo hold offers a lot more opportunity than the slightly-extended bunk area and mess. I was very very ready to enjoy the tight, cozy crew areas on the Zeus, but... there's just no personality there. Sadly, this means my time with the Zeus ES wasn't very long. I'll say this though, with some customization of the interior, this would be a quick buyback - As it stands, though, there just wasn't enough draw to it to make it take over as a mainstay.
The value of the ES is going to come down to how scanning gameplay works. The massive size three scanner it has should be able to scan down a lot of things. Whether that is what happens or not, we'll just have to wait and see. As for its competitor, it's really just the Freelancer DUR. Similar cargo, similar armament, similar role. Personally I prefer the ES on looks alone, but we'll have to see once we get proper scanning which one does small crew exploration better.
I feel like you've said this before, but when other ships are brought up to "gold standard", you would revisit them in the future, correct? I love the way you make these walk-throughs.
Yeah, as things change my reviews quickly become out of date! I try to keep up but there are so many ships and so little time :( but my aspiration is to stay current, yes
I upgraded my C1 to a CL and as much as I miss the design of the Spirit I don't feel like I've really lost too much. I can take on more cargo and I have 3 ways to exit my ship. I've already packed the CL with more than the 128SCU of cargo multiple times using the off-grid space. I also really like the living space compared to the C1. I went from an Avenger to the C1, and the CL just feels like another upgrade to that, I really like triangle-shaped ships with cargo capacity.
I've had the Freelancer DUR for years. Never got to use it. Traded it in for the Zeus ES. I like the ship, it spoke to me, but would rather they made the interior walls straight up and down instead of at an angle. If the ship was in real life: 1) Angled walls make approaching a wall or working on anything inside a wall a real problem. This is because your feet can't get close enough to prevent you from falling into the wall when leaning towards it. 2) Straight up and down walls offer more useable space. The halls would be wider and the cargo area could hold significantly more cargo. I understand from looking at the ship's overall structure that the angled walls could be due to a truss type airframe, however, the walls don't have to follow the same angles as the beams. Angled walls are suitable for visual aesthetics, but not functionality. I know... it doesn't adversely affect the player in-game, but it does affect the amount of useable area. Let's assume this ship was designed several hundred years in the future. We have transparent Aluminum right now... so why wouldn't they have it, or something better than it in the future? I am sure that hundreds of years from now, materials science is more advanced. This means the canopy doesn't have to be supported by a structural framework, as the entire canopy is made of solid metal. This would greatly increase visibility, without having to worry about 'glass' and its fragility, or the rigid, sight robbing structure to support it. Must think in the future! Overall, the ES is my favorite ship. When it comes to aerodynamics in-atmosphere, it should be better than depicted. I don't know if the designer intended it or not, but they created what is called a 'lifting body'. Lifting bodies are used in modern fighter and space planes. Coupled with directional thrusters and the winglets, she should be very capable in-atmosphere. Certainly more so than other ships that have thick wings that offer no aerodynamic advantage at all, such as the C1 or Freelancer.
I don't really care what you're talking about anymore, just keep talking mate, what a great voice. You should record audiobooks. I'm still waiting when they finally release Odyssey (or make the game playable with currently existing ships).
I do love the Zues ES, I play solo and while not the best playstyle. I'll mix in some light hauling and bounty Mid group, and ground missions. the extra shield is nice for the bounties. And i can get a few high risks in too. The CL I stay in the mid group missions. and pick up more hauling missions. But at the end of the day for solo I always end up back in Black with the Cutty. Been flying it for 9 years now...want something new but it always just hits the marks for do it all.
You can actually park a vehicle up to the size of a Cyclone MT on the ramp and it fits perfectly with the door closed and does not impede on the 32 SCU cargo grid.
I use throttle and stick, I don't set a deadzone in game but through my calibration software, but I use a long throw grip so it's an absolutely tiny deadzone so I can make very fine tweaks
I dont see any reason to get the ES vs the CL i guess you could say the extra shield generator but id still say the slightly smaller rooms for 4x the cargo is pretty spectacular.
I think that I'd rather have the CL and purchase in game when it finally gets released. It looks like they put a lot of work into the designing the Zeus.
Okay, CIG. Would you please make the interior of the Polaris a lot more in line with what we're seeing here in the Zeus? This looks polished and complete. The Polaris looks just... monotonously gray? And also "gray box" throughout. With the exception of engineering, habs, and hangar, it looks very unfinished comparatively to the Zeus. Just because the Polaris is a military ship doesn't mean it has to be absolutely boring. There's also hardly any pathfinding signage. I mean, just look at the Idris interior. I know it's the hero vessel of Squadron 42, but the Polaris needs to get up to something along those lines in fit and finish.
The lines between RSI and Crusader are quite blurry.. especially with the interior. The main distinction of course being the lack of an additional 20+ doors.
Zeus are a great into into Multi-Crew gameplay. The view from the cockpit is awesome, as is the new Starlancer, im from DCS so these cockpits are very easy to adjust to, and after flying the Viggen/Phantom and F-14/F-15 master modes is childs play. Nice little ships PS: No one buys ships on stats, you should be buying on th role it was designed for, and where it sits with similar ships, also buy ships as an INDULGENCE, Star Citizen is a game, not a second job, you can always melt of upgrade, or better still SUBSCRIBE, and try all ships as they are dropped. Be clever, not a moaner.
@@Farrister As much as im loving SC these days, i still get goosbumps before a Supercarrier takeoff. 4.0 will be a mindbander. Reviews are always worth the wait, Kudos
... the Zeus-ES "can" fit 90-SCU, without the pilot trying too-hard. Combined with its superior-components and additional game-loops... I feel that the CL-version is a distant-second. Regarding all-other mediums: the "beauty-creep" of the Zeus is real and just-too-great to resist. It puts the C1 to-shame... and I didn't think that even-possible. It's CIG's best and most efficient ship-engineering to-date. And... in a game that is largely "what-if"... it only makes sense to fly the ship that is closest to "what-it-will-be". That ship is unequivocally... the Zeus-ES.
Zeus ES makes the C1 obsolete, the ladder access will be, and should be a security consideration, especially in Pyro. The ES will come into its own when the new Radar Package and advanced scanning drops.
I do wonder about what the Es well do in SC "explorer" they say ..... maybe it can be used to find a good place to make a base ? cant see a scanner in it or a radar so it maybe an explorer in name only LOL
The Connies' are all good choices over the Zues. The Andromeda is a combat focused vessel of the 4 Connies. For bunkers, yeah the Connie is better because it can carry an Ursa/Nursa. The downside is it is a much larger vessel, with more of a multi-crew focus than the Zues. If that doesn't bug you, then go for it. You get more and larger pilot controlled weapons, much heavier missile payload, 2 manual turrets that add to the offense of the ship, a snub in the back, with plenty of cargo space for a combat vessel. You do lose space on your cargo grid with an Ursa loaded, and you are much bigger target, but Connies have really good defense with great offensive capability.
@@BEAGLEBOSS then Taurus is your baby. A $25 upgrade from the CL gives you more cargo room, with a decent tractor turret on the lower forward manned turret.
13:55 while the CL has 128 SCU of cargo grid, they layout is terrible, only 64 SCU is accessible for big containers(8SCU and larger) and there are issues with unloading fully loaded CL because ramp is too narrow.
The biggest appeal was supposed to be way bigger fuel and scanners/radar. Like TRIPLE the fuel. ....they're currently "rebalancing" all fuel so it's only ~25% more instead. :(
I feel like the mobility of the zeus is kinda weak honestly, I have a corsair and expected the zeus to feel way less slugish considering the size of the zeus compare to the corsair and was kinda disapointed... Hope it receive a small buff eventually
The ES is a nice ship, the polish on it is fantastic. Unfortunately, it’s a melt candidate come IAE. It just doesn’t have the utility for the game loops that I play. Once you get to ERT bounties or medium size cargo missions, the Zeus just doesn’t cut it, beautiful design be darned.
No mention of the s3 scanner?! Considering the PU is a dumpster fire most days, it might be helpful to add some future utility to your reviews rather than just overview what is possible right now. This ship is clearly designed for future gameplay and I think a review should reflect that.
No, I review current in game performance. Because there is no guarantee of what might or might not happen in future. I will happily revisit reviews as features get added down the line
The Zeus series is a very well done ship both inside and outside that doesn't fall into many of the issues the other ships have like clustering all the components in one place. That said, without the exploration gameplay loop the ship is merely okay to good at many things we currently have rather than great. There's always something better you could have taken instead. And for the ES, what you get in exchange for cargo space compared to CL is not impressive. A sofa and double sized kitchen is not a very iimpressive deal for almost 100 SCU.
I’m mainly just excited for that S3 radar. The extra shield is nice as well and am I the only one that thinks the ES generally handles better than the CL? It might have more maneuverability.
I don't really like the RSI aesthetic so the Zeus doesn't win me over from my Spirit. However! I /am/ jealous of the hab section being somewhere other than the back of the cockpit! 😂
@@Farrister yeah. I'm hoping that the auroras and connies get a bit of a reconcept to bring them a bit more in line with the more recent rsi styling. Specifically, I think that they should share more direct design cues with the Scorpius. They all have that central hull with four wing/fin thing going on. Though the Scorpius has them deploy of course.
ES looks nice and has a great Cockpit-view. But after that the benefits end... Less DPS than the other ships in it's size. Just 0.3 more Fuel than the 1.2 of the CL but 3/4 less cargo... And even more energy problems than CL, because of radar and 4. Shield, so you have to turn off weapons, when you want to rly use your 4. Shield...
Cant speak for the ES but the zeus CL is deurable as hell, i litterally pile drove myself intentionally into microtech, at like 700m/s and just bounce off
Unfortunately Zeus range is a failure. ES might as well get the C1 Spirit for $50 less and have twice the cargo. CL cargo grid is so broken get the Max. Or for $25 more Taurus for ten times the ship.
Im a crusader fan boy to the fullest and what piss me off the most is, we couldve got this build in the c1. Or close to it. I have no idea why they keep screwing us over with crusader ships like that? They always moving the goal post for RSI
I can't see myself getting this. As much as i like this ship, my next ship can't be a midsized ship. My Connie Taurus would be my go-to if i were trying to choose what i needed. And i can't get the Ursa in there. Shame, it's really sleek looking. Wassup with the gold standard for the Taurus...
It's just looks like eye Candy, your Taurus is far more efficient at handling cargo, loading and unloading. Zeus CL looks like a pain to fully load. I wouldn't get the Zeus with real cash, not even as an upgrade. Maybe with credits in game when available but still there are better options out there cargo wise.
@GUnit2214 i bought my Taurus after one of these tours. I use it for almost everything. Including as my home. I want a capital ship but I play solo. Eye candy is a good description
I think I disagree with regard the facilities on board. For myself I have far more trouble getting invested in any ship that does not have the crew spaces as it does not feel as "real".

Their door frames are wide enough from the top that you can fit 1 or 2 scu box thru them! That way you can easily make your kitchen area to be a small armory by placing there 1SCU boxes! This ship is like dream comes true.
And couple things to add:
Those weapon racks look like they have 6 slots for side arms per rack, but actually top 3 of them are for pistols and the lower 3 for med guns and multitools.
I'm excited to see the MR!
As always my week is completr with a ship review. Thank you for the informative video.
Glad you enjoyed!
Thank you Farrister! I am considering to pick this one up. Your review helped me make my decision :)
Can I interest you in this Zeus CL? *taps blue scratched paintwork*
@@Farrister Nope, it's the ES for me. Explorer to the core. I've got other Haulers... but no medium sized explorer.
Is there any exploration gameplay in Pyro ?
@ hopefully, CIG have been selling explorers since the Carrack, and they need to add this gameplay loop sooner or later…
@shawnc5188 hope so XD
Let's wait and see!
No one who is serious about that type of gameplay wouldn't take a Zeus.....unless your a Noob, stop being ignorant.
If I made a video about what ships can't do, they would be very long videos!
if you rely on this thats bad because i am tellign you CIG will say after some testing they are reverting the respawn in nursa.
The CL can do medium hauls, just not on the cargo grid. Watch for my videos on it next week!
I love my Zeus Cargo ship, just not a fan of the cargo grid trying to load full amount, the rear entrance it's very forgiving when trying to load, but everything else is great!
Yup, there are issues but it's good for me too
Yep thank god that you can’t do damage to the ship when loading cos some time you can only ram the into the ship to make the cargo fit lol
The Zeus is a great looking ship, I was sad when I found out the Ursa Medivac wouldn’t fit without disabling it.
A few people felt the same, I think
Once again thanks for another amazing tour! I already own a CL and MR, but this a great overview.
This doesn't happen very often with your content, but at 5:17 you're referring to a fuse as a relay if I'm not mistaken.
o7
I think the formal description is a relay! (I think it's even written on there?)
@@Farrister ooh! I'll take a look! Sorry for the quick judgement, on other ships these things used to be called fuses, so probably my bad >_>
Most of this stems from me not visiting the PU (or SC at all for that matter) for 2-3 months.. There's so much coming (soonTM) that I find interesting, that the game felt a bit empty in its state then and when the (for me) interesting patch finally dropped, it wasn't playable for over a week and haven't had the urge to jump in
@@Farrister Grabbed the part in the CL just now, clearly says Fuse (I think the components of a Relay are the Fuses iirc)
You can get to the roof from the airlock?!
I wasn't even aware of the topside ladder!
Pretty good looking ship. I see folks flying it in game all the time. I also run across abandoned ones at bunkers very frequently.
No med facilities for bunkers
Always takes a couple of weeks!
Another amazing review, with it's ups and downs, this is a very nice daily driver for the average citizen, gets the job done!
That's kinda true, bunker play is one of the things I rarely do so I definitely tilt towards other gameplay
I bought the CL version of the Zeus MK2 last year as a stepping stone for cargo besides my Nomad and the loaner C1 I used before the Zeus dropped. Right now it is probably gonna be my daily driver throughout the 'verse instead of my Nomad.
I've been flying a lot of Zeus CL!
Perhaps one for the future?
The ladder is very useful too
I went for the CL, liked the styling and multiple entries for a cargo ship. I'm also banking on it being one of the larger cargo holds capable of going through a small jump point. I think it matches in size to another ship that CIG has said would be the limit of small JP's.
I also went for the CL... Do you think jump point sizes are still going to be a thing?
I loved reading about your experience!
I'm liking the ES Mk2. I have it as a loaner for the MR, which I think will be very interesting.
I could be very interested in the MR!
Yup, if scanning becomes more useful in future, I can see this ship leaning into it
I feel like you've said this before, but when other ships are brought up to "gold standard", you would revisit them in the future, correct?
More on the CL this week!
Everything is so clean
Yup!
The bottom mounted turret may be useful for staying safe during landing and take off.
I'm not so sure - feel like top mounted would make more sense for that!
Transparent aluminium? That takes me back...
I don't really care what you're talking about anymore, just keep talking mate, what a great voice. You should record audiobooks.
I'm still waiting when they finally release Odyssey (or make the game playable with currently existing ships).
Thank you for your kind words
bro i was waiting for this vid i have subbed to others for ship tours and stuff but they don't really do it as well as these vids
Glad you enjoyed!
You will be doing the Zeus CL right? Hope so always love your reviews reason why I subed long ago!
Friday!
The gun racks can hold multitools and medguns at the bottom.
They are well thought out
Great video as always Farrister. Too bad they gutted exploration gameplay plans to just fetch quests.
What were you expecting from exploration gameplay?
Omg bruh new fav ship!!!
Not the CL?!
I also ordered the Starlancer Max however I wish they made ships component based so I could swap out a stateroom with a med bed.
You can actually park a vehicle up to the size of a Cyclone MT on the ramp and it fits perfectly with the door closed and does not impede on the 32 SCU cargo grid.
I was hoping the Zeus was gonna be a bit bigger. Like closer in size to the corsair. Still a really fun ship though. Waiting for the MR to release 🎉
Would be too close to the Constellation if it was, I think
Question;
Do you use sticks or k&m for flight?
If you use sticks what is your dead zones set at? I cant figure our how to smoothly fly like that. Lol
I use throttle and stick, I don't set a deadzone in game but through my calibration software, but I use a long throw grip so it's an absolutely tiny deadzone so I can make very fine tweaks
Yes my new favorite
Its a pretty ship. I'm not worried about a re-balancing because with its current performance, it should be a boost.
No one should be concerned with REBALANCING, its out of their hands, and you dont buy a ship based on STATS, but the role it was designed for.
Time will tell, I suppose
I dont see any reason to get the ES vs the CL i guess you could say the extra shield generator but id still say the slightly smaller rooms for 4x the cargo is pretty spectacular.
For me personally, I agree
I think that I'd rather have the CL and purchase in game when it finally gets released. It looks like they put a lot of work into the designing the Zeus.
Love the Zeus CL
Well done Farrister. This so far the best review of theZeus ES I've yet seen. Many thanks.
Thank you!
I think it’s because the Polaris has actually been in the pipeline for a very long time now, where as the Zeus has been in for like a year.
star citizen Attenborough
Where?!
The lines between RSI and Crusader are quite blurry.. especially with the interior. The main distinction of course being the lack of an additional 20+ doors.
How good does it perform ingame ? I'll speculate it will perform great until it gets nerfed two months later ?
It's a possibility
You get a like from a DCS Tomcat RIO
@@Farrister As much as im loving SC these days, i still get goosbumps before a Supercarrier takeoff. 4.0 will be a mindbander. Reviews are always worth the wait, Kudos
@davewills6121 for me it's the recovery - case III always gets the heart rate up!
... the Zeus-ES "can" fit 90-SCU, without the pilot trying too-hard.
Many design choices reminds me of the Carrack, just look at the corridors.
Edit: i've said it from the start that the turret should have been on top.
Agreed on the turret!
Or improve in future
Can you do a review on the cl version?
Soon ;)
Iv got this Zeus Mk2. Considering trading up to the Constellation Andromeda, do you think this is a good trade up. I am doing bunker missions
I love the Andromeda, it's great. If you are trading up, might be worth considering the Taurus as a cheaper option
@@edwarddomenico9601 thank you for your in depth reply, appreciated
I ended up getting in to hauling so got the Zeus CL
@@BEAGLEBOSS then Taurus is your baby. A $25 upgrade from the CL gives you more cargo room, with a decent tractor turret on the lower forward manned turret.
I wonder which seat will have the scanning station
How dare someone get here first 😢. Time to watch!
Haha
13:55 while the CL has 128 SCU of cargo grid, they layout is terrible, only 64 SCU is accessible for big containers(8SCU and larger) and there are issues with unloading fully loaded CL because ramp is too narrow.
More on the CL this week...
The biggest appeal was supposed to be way bigger fuel and scanners/radar. Like TRIPLE the fuel.
....they're currently "rebalancing" all fuel so it's only ~25% more instead. :(
I like the fuel tank behind the glass window though...
I feel like the mobility of the zeus is kinda weak honestly, I have a corsair and expected the zeus to feel way less slugish considering the size of the zeus compare to the corsair and was kinda disapointed... Hope it receive a small buff eventually
Seems like there are some big reshuffle of stats coming for many ships
If Morphologys is the sales man at a super car showroom, then Farrister is the sales guy that sells you yatchs
I would have thought it was the other way around!
Zeus CL works for medium cargo missions
How important is comfort in a game where you can't feel it
I’m mainly just excited for that S3 radar. The extra shield is nice as well and am I the only one that thinks the ES generally handles better than the CL? It might have more maneuverability.
I want to get this ship but i cant help but feel that this ship would have been better being 2x its current size
This is true for most ships xD
The ES has replaced all my other "all rounders" like my msr, connie and black.
Oh really?
@@Farrister Yeah man. Its kinda like goldilocks and the three bears lol
The inclusion of large galleys has always been questionable as it's basically wasted space, but otherwise it seems like a compact, practical design.
Wow
Wow!
I don't really like the RSI aesthetic so the Zeus doesn't win me over from my Spirit. However! I /am/ jealous of the hab section being somewhere other than the back of the cockpit! 😂
It's just weird how there are 2 different RSI aesthetics now!
Shield...
What are Explorer ships going to used in the game with 5 systems?
I noted that while it has a S3 Radar (+1 Size), some ships have a Radar and a Scanner. Not sure it this is an explorer or long range taxi.
It's a good question!
How do you have money for that?
The important part is not to mention anything to my wife
@Farrister yeah I know that😂
4 size 2 shields? Damm normally ship that size would have maybe 2 size 2 or 1 size 3.
I know, right?!
Cant speak for the ES but the zeus CL is deurable as hell, i litterally pile drove myself intentionally into microtech, at like 700m/s and just bounce off
Not officially supported by RSI, of course...
@Farrister but a big selling point if they put it on the brochure " frame so tough it wouldt break if you tried"
My Zues, when my wife is in the copilot seat, wont go in and out of quantum. When shes in the gunner seat it works fine
Yeah it seems to be an issue!
@Farrister glad its not just me. 😊
Maybe it’s like the millennium falcon when there’s two pilots where the copilot activated quantum that’ would be sick
its funny how you can see a new ship so much it makes you hate it
Sorry!
Unfortunately Zeus range is a failure. ES might as well get the C1 Spirit for $50 less and have twice the cargo. CL cargo grid is so broken get the Max. Or for $25 more Taurus for ten times the ship.
Taurus is insanely good for the price
after a few weeks of release i still can fly a single ship ......tons of 30k error....
Oof :(
Im a crusader fan boy to the fullest and what piss me off the most is, we couldve got this build in the c1. Or close to it. I have no idea why they keep screwing us over with crusader ships like that? They always moving the goal post for RSI
These ships look great and they're clearly well made, but for some reason they've never really clicked with me. 🤷♀
Fair enough! There's plenty of room for personal preferences in the ship lineup for this game
Connie Taurus is one of the best value for money options out there
I think I disagree with regard the facilities on board. For myself I have far more trouble getting invested in any ship that does not have the crew spaces as it does not feel as "real".
That's fair enough - each to their own!
The Zeus interior disappointed me immensely. I really thought I would love this ship but will probably melt it down for something else.
Those beds look really narrow and uncomfortable
I'm unable to comment :D
