In practice about 8. One into the net, 1-2 long. In a game probably not that good, maybe 1-2 in to net and 2-3 long. I’m a big advocate of the 3rd shot drop and try to practice it and use it. Probably 2 out of three of my third shots are drops, with the remainder mostly drives depending on serve return placement 😀
@@paulogden7417 Try to remember what return of serves you are having trouble with; then get your practice partner or a ball machine to feed them to you. When you start to get your third shot in it gets harder for your partner to feed you tough balls if they are returning your drops.
Grip strength, I think it would be easier to imagine the pressure one would use in a polite handshake , firm but never squeezing. That is a good start and just adjust to your own need.
Out of 10 shots, how many can you consistently hit into the non-volley zone from the baseline or transition zone?
I don't know. I'll have to try and find out.
Elaine let me know what you find out!
That may depend on the return of serve and how many ball touches I have taken before.

Great catch. I know there was a reason but I can’t remember what it was. I’ll ask her the next time we talk.
I noticed that too.
