I honestly think this is a fantastic direction for the Chinese homage brands. Take old, vintage designs that literally aren't being made anymore, make it with modern materials, slap the VK64 movement inside, and sell it for a decent price. If Dan Henry can do it, so can Pagani Design!

This! They should start making watches that are too expensive, no longer made, or does not have variations such as size or colorway options instead of just straight up copying designs.
@@karlsenula9495good point. I've got a San Martin that homages a specific Tudor from 1950s, and it's fabulous and I'm OK with it. So is it bad to watch snob the Pagani? Probably, until Jody exposed the variable levels of photocopying, I mean finishing. Great job upgrading the macro lense Jody as it really shows the imperfections of the dial and its to be expected for the price point of this one! Can't wait to see what you find with more 'premium' watches moving forward 👍
I’m wearing my San Martin interpretation of the Patek chrono with a Salmon dial, I’m very pleased with it even though it was 3X the price of the Pagani. A design to please all of us! Cheers from Missouri!
I came to the same conclusion. Prices for the Furlan Marri were like you said too much, especially for the Havana Salmon, so I bought hold your pants, a Hruodland Design copy of the copy. Trice the price of the Pagani, but guess what? They sent two but still paid more than the Pagani for each one. In the end, I gave one to my surgeon, who fixed the three hernias I had. Now he has it in the rotation with his Submariner and the El Primero.
Pagani in my opinion have improved greatly in recent years. I have just bought the latest v3 Speedmaster homage and it is a beauty. Even the strap feels good. I hate the mesh strap on this watch but that's just my personal opinion.
These are amazing watches, even more if you exchange the strap for a decent leather one. I own the blue and the grey one and both have a lot of wrist time.
I have an unnatural distain for the VK-64. The VK-61, 63, 64, 67, 68, 73, and 83 are all covered in the same "Operation Manual", so they are essentially the same movement. Yet the 64 is the ONLY one without a running seconds hand. Why does it get so much use!?! (Am I ranting? Ok, fine....I'm ranting. Carry on....). 😁
if you want to remove the blue plastic of the crown you only need a little bit of adhesive tape, put in on the crown and it will remove the blue plastic right away. Best regards
Gotta be honest I switched out the bracelet of the Pagani Tiffany oyster to the free nato and it’s really not bad at all the edges haven’t frayed and is still relatively stiff
This does look pretty nice (apart from the macro of course). But I guess for the price that's forgivable. If you're willing to spend a bit more though I'd suggest taking a look at some of Sugess watches. Quite a few of them have the same kind of look and are also mechanical too, if you prefer that.

I like the Escapement Time version of this watch much better. It's slightly more expensive, but you do notice the difference in finishing. Don't bother waiting for a sale though, I've never seen an Escapement Time discounted.
So far I've managed to hold back from buying a Pangani I stumbled across this week that manages to not look too much like a copy Managed to convince myself that even though its a great buy at $100 its destined for little wear and the Tissot I have my eye on may be double the price but would get worn much more (if its unusual case/lug layout suit)..... Says the man with both a Pagani amd Tissot he's never worn
I love my PD1717 which is a homage to the Longines Spirit. The Spirit is my grail watch, but the Pagani sure fits the bill just nice and a very nice price tag to boot....

I was ready to grab the credit card until you mentioned that there is normaly no movement on the dial. Even with a regular quartz chrono you get people telling you that your watch has stopped. At least then you can show the the small second hand ticking away in its little "corner"

A bit of a shame about some of those details but for $65... I'd call it a winner!
Hi Jody, great review of this watch! I share your opinion that some homage watches from China can be amazing value for money and give good performance, features & even outshine many Swiss offerings for a tiny financial outlay!! I have two Paganis, a Seagull 1963, Escapement Time (Seiko King) & a SteelDive Willard. These are excellent watches I came to choose through watch your well-rounded and informative reviews- thanks taking the time and effort to do that for us all- it’s much appreciated! I can’t remember ever seeing a Certina watch you’ve reviewed, have you done one yet? I have the DS Action plain bezel watch, it’s a good basic Quartz chronometer, would you consider reviewing a higher-end model in Certina’s range? That would be great.
Pagani Design can remove the foregoing, and stick with graphic. I have an impulse to get the actual many times, and forego the 'patek'. Not rushing out for this one.
Not bad at all. After checking a Furlan Marri bought by a colleague last year, I found it was neither here not there. Looks very cheap compared to a Patek, obviously, but still a €500 watch. Would rather buy a decent Laco with that kind of money. At less than $100, it’s another story. Nobody will think you bought a Patek, and it will scratch that dressy-vintagey itch nicely. Well done Pagani.
I don't see watches of this sort as being substitutes for luxury watches they will never be in the same category, but they should put pressure on formerly budget brands that have been inflating their prices well beyond their specs
I'm torn between getting one of these or the SeaGull 1963, what do you guys think? Which one should I be getting for my vintage-looking chrono beater? Thanks in advance, cheers!

I have an impulse to get the
actual many times, and forego the 'patek'. Not rushing out for this one.
Someone in the comments on another reviewer's video said that scotch tape gets the blue film right off. May be worth a shot.
I'll definitely try it!
That works for me ..
I saw you purchased this watch in one of tour AliExpress sales videos a long time ago. Finally the review is out.
FYI a bit of sticky tape gets that blue crap off the crown like a charm!
Jody: Use adhesive tape on the crown to remove the blue protective sticker. Fast and without scratches!
Beater? This. The movement is much more robust and it has a higher WR rating.
I like the blue one, the dial has a vertical grain with sunburst sub dials, what can you buy for £60 these days lol
