My Dad shaped with Gerry for years. The shop was way up in the mountains, isolated, and far from the beach. So if I went with my Dad to work I was stuck there for the entire day. If Gerry ever saw me looking at all bored he would stop shaping, take off his mask, pick up a broom and direct me start sweeping. If I was lazy or cut any corners at all he would give me the Chandler grilling and make me do it over. He was so much like Chandler in a lot of ways, amazing to watch shape boards and surf, but very strict and disciplined. He also had the entire Three Stooges collection, and his original sword from Conan
The movie was how Hawaii was up till the mid 80’s. Now it would be about drugs. Now who is capable of smuggling the huge amounts of drugs in Hawaii? Only Uncle Sam could.
