Hi, This video is crucial to know. Please have your time to make another one in details about the preferences. Also, I really want to understand in deep about all the plugs-in in the plugs in manager. Many thanks
Your videos are fantastic, as someone who uses a small part of Maya for a living but has never had any formal training, there are always fundamental holes in my knowledge and i rarely have much time to fill them as I'm not always sure what i don't know! Slowly going through all your other videos as time allows. please keep making them.
Yeah I would do the same, but more often then not, its overkill. There's usually one thing that is causing a problem. However, sometimes wiping all the prefs is the only option, but it should be last resort.
Its funny that workshops, companies have documents of how to prevent Maya from crashing or make work arounds to solve the errors, I have been already working in 3d for 18 years and I can say from Blender, Max and Maya, you will have the worst nightmares with Maya, someday you will wake up to work and the software will not open or crash without any reason, and every time that happens you will have to find a different solution for the error of the software
No such thing as bug free software, imho. Plus the software can only handle the data it's given. Most issues are related to how people use the software and their pipelines.
There's rarely any real need to delete the preferences. That was something that people got to know about as it seemed to be the best and quickest way to fix things. It's very brute force.
@@ZeroConditionaltutorials yeah no, this 30 minute video is what the developers should have done before releasing anything. Good thing (irony) that they don't need to provide any thesis or demo reels to be hired.
Bro I'm using maya22 in rotation there is no lag but we put loop and when we extrude I'm facing very slow response what is the problem My laptop spec I5 9th gen 8gb ram 1650 4gb graphics card
I can't say without more details of the scene, object, etc. 8GB ram is the minimum though for Maya. Personally I wouldn't go lower then 16 for anything.
to reset Maya's default prefs, you can delete them and Maya will create new ones when it reboots. The prefers are in your documents folder (windows), there's a Maya folder, inside that there will be another folder for the version of Maya you have. Delete that and reboot Maya.
Hard to say but basics like not scrubbing the timeline help use playback every frame in the prefs. Also try switching the Evaluation Mode in prefs Watch the scale as well
@@axe_fx If that's your experience, that's fair enough. I'm certainly not stating that Maya doesn't crash. Personally I've been fine, but that's just me and much can depend on the type and amount of work being done. They're all very good solutions though.
@@ZeroConditionaltutorials well thoughts on batch rendering crashing after 2 frames? it doesnt matter the scene, Maya 2022.3 crashes after 2 frames if there is a material applied. no single object/ material is responsible. I tried different scenes. Maya 2020.4 doesnt crash :) 2022.3 crashes after 2 frames no matter which frame I start it or deleting all animated objects. error logs dont give me meaningful stuff
without any details of the scene and type of data being rendered, I can't really say. If Maya is crashing so abruptly, the it could be a corruption maybe? Ifs its started to render and then crashes after some frames, then it could be something in the scene and the data being rendered.

Noted!

Great to hear!
I usually just deleted the whole prefs and reset the settings that i needed. But now maybe i wont have to anymore.
Thanks for sharing.

Great stuff, thank you! I also appreciate that you sound like Garth Marenghi :D
Thanks, I think :-)
I find the best way to stop Maya crashing is stay with 2019 , its been awful ever since, and before thinking about it.
nice update.
Thanks for the visit
Great video! Thank you!
Glad you liked it.
What if you: Wanted to optimize Maya
but Maya needed: You to delete preferences after some time?

please help me. I have lost my defaults. the render looks stupid, no i have not implemented your tutorial yet

what can I do to help with Maya crashing when using ncloth? :)
Hard to say but basics like not scrubbing the timeline help use playback every frame in the prefs.

Watch the scale as well
bruh maya -_- always crashing
All software crashes. :-)
Go blender :D i just got my version of student and that shitty software dont start... 12 gb of TRASH
Blender or Maya? :-)
cant thank you enough. shitty software
Thanks, although that is just one opinion. All software crashes though. :-)
@@ZeroConditionaltutorials not even remotely close to Maya 2022. I am talking c4d/ houdini/ blender/ nuke
