What can i say about this amazing product. Its flawless. And i mean flawless. When used correctly. It has the ability to cover acne and even birthday marks but when sheered out with a gorgeous moisturiser it becomes a second skin. It looks like flawless dewy skin.
The only draw back is the shade range. There are no shades for women darker than a light tan. This is very disappointing but if you fall into the colour category then you will be happy. Estee Lauder - its time to update this classic product by coming up with a bigger shade range to include the gorgeous tones of women that aren't light skin.

My shade range is 09 - deep (i have a tan) which shows you how they really need to update the colours to include a larger spectrum.
Mixed with MAC Strobe cream will give you flawless, dewy skin. Charlotte Tilbury is a HUGE fan of this stuff and i can see why.

This MAC Strobe cream + Estee Lauder Double Wear Maximum coverage is still the best thing I have ever used for foundation, and I keep trying new things every now and then just to see - including all the new HD foundations, etc. But this combination is still the very best.

This is an excellent tip. I’ve tried this foundation with Mac strobe n it works amazing! This maximum full coverage foundation is also kind of thick. Best if I apply with finger tips. I love it so much!!!! Wayne is the boss!

Best foundation ever and I've tried them all! I'm so glad you mentioned it's best to spread with your fingers! If I see one more Sponge soaking up product, I'll throw my phone out the window! I will never understand the hype about sponges, you waste so much product, it's soaks it up. Maybe use it to blend lightly but to actually apply foundation, I just don't get it! Did I mention I hate sponges
Yes, I have bad red/pink acne scars & pimples. it will cover anything and it has not broken me out. i have been using it for like 3 years now.
I believe "Double Wear" is meant to imply that we should get double the wear time. :-) I just started working for EL about 2 weeks ago. I hope that helps. I just got a bunch of stuff to try of theirs, including the DW foundation, and I'm so excited! I played with the DW Max Coverage yesterday and was so amazed at its pigmentation and coverage! I encourage you to go play with it at a counter near you - make sure you put a moisturizer on before the foundation. It definitely needs moisture.
I love this foundation! The colour match is perfect, and it has lasted me over 6 months using it as an everyday foundation! It's also extremely good for combination/oily skin and also acne prone skin!
I didnt add moisturiser but applied a dot with my fingers and really sheered it out. It is my holy grail. It stays put all day but i can still see my freckles :) gorgeous! Thanks wayne

I use Estée Lauders Double Wear Light in intensity 3 and it is amazing. Definitely worth the price. The product is amazing. I have dry, sensitive skin and it has never broken me out. Gives me a beautiful glow. Love love love.
This foundation is incredible
I love Estee Lauder's Double Wear Stay-in-place Make up...that stuff does NOT come off...I can blot my face all day from oil and not a trace of color will be left over. I even wore it at the gym (I don't wear make-up to the gym) just for kicks and sure enough it stayed in place...I was very impressed...that line also has a bigger range of shades thankfully :)

I agree about the color selection! I'm naturally tan, so in the summer I get really tan!
I'm pale as buggery and this is my holy grail foundation.
It's a matter of getting fitted PROPERLY by a MUA.
the only problem with this foundation is that it doesn't stay on like original doublewear...:(
I now use this as my everyday foundation after I had researched online for the best matte foundation. I tried this with several others and although this didn't keep me as un-oily as I'd have liked it was by far the best for covering up my acne scars and genuinely made me feel much less self conscious about them. It is long lasting and a little touch up late in the afternoon is all that's needed if your off out for the night.

No, I had the one that came in a similar tube, blue and had full coverage but the tube was more cylindrical and slimmer. it was called estee lauder maximum cover.
Hi Emilia! Yes - I encourage you to go play with it at a counter near you. All counters have testers that you can play with and they can even shade match you and apply it to your face if you would like. And you are definitely right on about your hunch - I recommend a moisturizer for sure before applying. I have normal/dry skin in summer and I wouldn't dare apply this w/out moisturizer. :-) (I just started working at an EL counter and have been playing with everything!)

I always mix my foundation (clinique anti blemish) with the MAC strobe cream. I apply with my fingers aswell and it works wonders! Mch more effective than any brush. It gives me a natural, glowy and dewy finish.
I use this foundation with my Revlon Colorstay Foundation in order to get the right shade. It looks lovely on and stays all day.
I have been using Double Wear since it came on the market. I unfortunately have terrible skin. However, this product covers all of my imperfections, large pores, & scarring. I swear by this product & have not found another like it. Thanks for reviewing it! I completely agree with you, Estee Lauder has done a great job with this product.
On a side note, you should try/review Estee Lauder's Idealist serum. It's pretty amazing as well.

hey Wayne so happy you have a video on this foundation..ive been going back and forth all day whether I said purchase or not as I have acne scars and it says it's a good foundation for it..I was wondering if it's better or the same as illamasqua rich foundation..I seen you recommended on a video and I ordered the illamasqua and I really like it alot..I have a ton of foundation and I always go for the illamasqua now..do you think they are similar? or is one better? I've been in love with the double wear for years now. Estee Lauder seem to be a bit wierd about shade variety, but the one I have is the only one I've ever found light enough to match my skin.
I agree with Wayne, if you can get a shade that fits, it's perfect if you need a lot of coverage (like me!).

When I had cystic acne, this was my life saving foundation! :)
my friend and I both have pretty good skin and we use it neat. the finish is incredible (really skin like) the trick is to only use a TINY amount. I use RT contour brush and my friend uses her fingers.
They do deeper shades. I am olive toned and used to use Estée lauders fouble wear foundation in shell beige before I started this one. But they certainly do shades darker than Wayne's skin

You should do a series of videos of the best products for oily, dry normal etc it would be so helpfull for your voewers!
Thanks Wayne, for bringing up the shade range issue. If enough people write to them, perhaps they will add darker shades. I've had problems getting lighter shades (Boots lightest is too dark for me), so I love Estee Lauder, but I don't want to support a company that exempts women of colour.
Thank you soooo much for highlighting the need for much deeper tones to be available in this and other make-up product line. Do the make-up companies think people of colour do not exist? It's time for a change!

I Completely agree with some comments previously mentioned. Estee Lauder does seem to favor those of yellow undertone besides having a very limited shade range :/ I cannot wait until they make it better available for everyone, I will be addicted lol! (Unless it's still too yellow)

I have used EL maximum cover the old one and its saved my life and my self confidence before 10 years when I suffered from an awful acne although I was a student but I saved money to buy it and I used it for a long time with a sunscreen and later with a moisturizer to cheer it + my acne treatment ratin A and acrutan people couldn't tell that I got acne at that time
I use this foundation! Except I use double wear light coverage, and even though I literally try to put the smallest amount on my face, the size of my pinky nail, and my friends still say it looks like I wear full coverage and my boyfriend tells me I wear too much too! I don't wear too much, look at how much I use. That's frustrating. I love this foundation because it stays on all day and I can feel more confident about myself. It gives me a nice matte finish apply w/ beautyblender for flawless

....I also think that while Max Cover doesn't go as dark as people like my Mum (NC50 in MAC) Estee Lauder as a brand have a tremendous shade range in their other foundations. Double Wear in particular has the most beautifully deep shades (far darker than MAC goes) and shades for very very ivory skins (Cool Bone is lovely). I think it's worth visiting a counter before you judge them on how they view people and their skin colour. When brands such as Dior are bringing out WOC shades in 2013???!! xx

After being matched at a counter to the shade "desert beige" by Estee Lauder for my porcelain skin, it doesn't surprise me that they don't cater for all shade ranges. I agree with you Wayne that in 2013 everyone should be catered for! This includes extremely pale to much darker skin tones. Hopefully companies will begin to realise that there is a greater spectrum of skin tones than they cater for.

I've used this foundation for years but always felt it gave u too much of a flawless coverage (if there's such a thing) so I switched to bare minerals loving bare minerals but I suffer with broken capillaries so I use a cc cream underneath might rebut this foundation again but take your advice Wayne and use the mac strobe and see if I can get a more natural look with great coverage thanks for the tip xxx

Heyday! I am an Estée Lauder employee and I can confirm there is literally a shade called "very light" and creamy tan is only about the third shade there are darker ones also :) great product and great tip! Will definitely be trying this at home
Hi Wayne, I work for Estee Lauder currently, and I am pretty sure that 09 Deep is quite dark. I am an NC42 in MAC and I use Max Cover in 07 Medium Deep for coverage under my eyes and that suits my skin perfectly. I've also tried the 09 Deep and it was far too dark for me - made me look like I had rubbed my face in dirt! So unless the packaging had the wrong shade on it....or they have since changed their shades, I don't know. Just thought I'd say! I'd go to a counter if anyone is interested! xx
I bought this a few months ago and ended up giving it to my mum. I found after about 15 mins of applying it, it turned a much deeper colour and I'm a white as a ghost so it just left me patchy! Such a pity cos it covered my acne scars perfectly!

Hi Wayne, just a suggestion-do you mind doing reviews of foundations next time both with and without the strobe cream (and other things that make foundations luminous)? I realise that you do like a more luminous finish but I am sure that there're other viewers out there besides myself who would like to hear your views about the matte-ness whilst being able to see the appearance of it (applied neat) during your review xx
Best foundation in my opinion.Maximum cover...transfer resistant....it give's u a perfect skin .After using this foundation for 2 years, no other foundation just does not seem good.
I love this foundation. Its work great with my skin. And I have to use very little product.

I agree with using your hands to apply this! Also another way to get a gorgeous dewy glow is to mix a drop of Estee Lauder's ANR in! x
In the area in which I live (KY, USA) they have a hard time keeping this particular product in stock, but I lucked up & got 1, in the color "Creamy Vanilla" which was my color. It is a very full coverage-which it's meant 2 be as I believe it was designed to cover things most normal "full coverage" bases don't, i.e. birthmarks, tattoos, hyper-pigmentation, etc. I loved it from the get go. Only problem is, I find that it settles into very fine lines I wasn't aware I even had--I am 37 tho, lol. Maybe if I try applying it the way you just did Mr. Goss, I may get a better result/finish. I never thought about mixing it w/an illuminating creme OR applying it w/my fingers...Only thing is, is that the strobe creme is not sold here around where I live. The closest thing I have is "Maybelline Blur + Illuminating PRIMER"...I'm wondering if that will work. I'm telling you, where I live the ONLY places to buy makeup around here is Belk, for High-End such as Lancome, Clinique & Estee Lauder-that's it. As 4 "Drugstore" makeup, you've got a choice between Wal-Mart or Kroger...and if you want NYX then Goody's clothing store is the only place to sell it. I guess my point is that for myself this particular EL Foundation was a lot of money for me, I've only worn it less than a handful of times & your tip was absolutely GENIUS-maybe the way I shoulda been wearing it all along, I just don't know what 2 mix w/it as there's not a possibility that I would be able to get the Strobe Creme & need advice, seeing as you are my go-to makeup ICON. I know this Demo is a few yrs old & you may not be able 2 get back to me, but I know you do some "drugstore" Demos & being the pro that you are, I'm hoping you'd have a suggestion or 2. Likewise, If any of the commenters happen 2 read this & know of a product that produces very similar results, just know I would also greatly appreciate your advice/suggestions. I wouldn't even bother w/it, but like I said, I have a very limited income & basically had 2 save to get this product & I'd hate to see it waste. Also try not using a primer or setting powder, it is meant to be worn without anything helping it I guess you could say. It sets on its own beautifully.

It does, ur rite! But as a makeup artist I do sometimes, depending on the person & their skin type, hv 2 set it.
no some foundations create little mimic lines that aren't there. If they aren't there without makeup then it's the makeup that gives the illusion of them. lol!
Why don't you shop online? MAC Strobe Cream is available online and their online store return policy is unbeatable...1 year! Not even joking, you get a full year to return a product. I had no idea, I thought Sephoras 60 day return window was great until I found out about MAC's!

you should try boots no.7 beautifully matte its cheap and one of the best full coverage foundations i have ever used.
The regular Estee Lauder Double Wear comes in 30 shades! And I think its just as good. Although I prefer the Double Wear light for a more sheer coverage(it is my holy grail foundation). DWL comes in 6 very forgiving shades. I'm an NC45 as well and wear number 5 if that helps. (:
I love this foundation! I needed something full coverage when I had past break outs that left me with dark spots all over. I literally had a year of weddings to go to... This stuff works so well, tho a little goes a long way. I never thought to use it with something like strobe cream... I'll have to buy that when I need to get a new Estee Lauder foundation...
