Honestly, for me Jacob wasn't as likable, charming, interesting and relatable as Jonas and that was my biggest gripe in this game. Despite having a bigger map, most of the times the game felt uneventful when compared to the first one. Riley is one of the best protagonists I've ever played tho!
It"s too bad tbh, when I thought about this game being "bigger" than the first I've been theorising about things like causing the Sinking and even preventing it, with Maggie having a much bigger role in the game than brief cameos, deeper and thought-provoking conversations throughout the game instead of whatever Jake's rambling (talking with Alex on the boat is a good example), parentage being a mystery to be solved and discovered (like the sunken in the first) instead of being explained right away at the beginning of the game,...
The climax was great though, the story improved whenever Alex was in the frame. Oxenfree 2 served as a closure to the prequel and was nothing more I guess..
Still though, the Oxenfree franchise will always have a special place in my heart because of how personal it is and the timeless message it brings to so many people with similar/different backgrounds ^w^
    Great video!!

First game was a masterpiece in my opinion. Second one was kinda meh? Like the best part of Oxenfree 2 is the references and connections it has to Oxenfree 1. I remember that I wanted to replay Oxenfree 1 as soon as I finished it. Once the credits hit in Oxenfree 2 I haven't had such a desire and probably never will.

Oxenfree II was a total let down and this really bums me out since the first Oxenfree was a literal masterpiece! I just can't understand how you can go from something as mind blowing as Oxenfree to...whatever Oxenfree II is.

That painful part to me is that is sullies the ending I got in oxenfree 1. I worked my ass off to get the best ending in oxenfree 1 and this game just says oh yeah every single thing you did was pointless as they all turned in to ghosts.

@@SuperMattman21 There is no best ending in Oxenfree. If you’re talking about the one where Alex is back on mainland and doesn’t go to Edwards Island it’s some alternate timeline Alex. The one you’re playing in the game is still stuck in a loop on the Island no matter what ending you get.

Definitely play the first game. And, no spoilers here, but: be sure to play it AGAIN after you've finished it. I won't say why, just do it and you'll quickly see why I told you to.

Play the first Oxenfree. And as someone else said, play it again. There's a reason and it elevates this game into masterpiece territory! However, you can totally pass on Oxenfree II. It's utter crap. 🤣

@@sigil3376It is not possible in first game too, as one version of Alex is in the loop always.

@@kvm6 it is, broke it on my fourth play through, if you choose the correct things to say to yourself, you convince your friend, stepbrother and yourself to never go to the island, and you head to the pizza place instead.... Thereby breaking the loop.... You can restart the loop by starting a new game +, but it doesn't automatically throw you back into it.... Thereby showing the loop is actually broken until you choose to return to it, all other paths start it over without your input..so yeah , you can... Sorry if you've never achieved it. 🤷

@@kvm6 that's not what I said , saving all the versions doesn't matter, the one you save never enters the loop... Meaning you broke it, if one is saved then the loop is broken... Everything leading up to that is just leading up to it. One escape is proof it can be broken, otherwise no one could escape at all... So tell me how that is not breaking the loop? I have a version of Alex, she, and the other guys she rode the boat over with never took the boat, therefore never entered the loop, therefore I have versions who never entered it, therefore broken....

No, I agree. I don't understand where this review is coming from as every other one I've seen isn't that great and everyone I know that played it disliked it. At least for people that played the first one. Oxenfree II fell totally flat and was a huge disappointment. And it was soooooo boring comparatively.
