I’m having the same problem right now it all started a week ago when I overfilled my gas tank at work, as soon as I was done i went back in to started and it made a noise like it wanted to turn in but it wouldn’t but it always starts after like the 3rd try......I appreciate your videos bro I respect your work.

I had the same code on my 15 Impala. Ordered the part online for $25 and replaced it. Thanks to this video I was able to fix the issue with no more check engine light and issues

Thank you man. I just replaced mine following the instructions in your video and it was super easy. I also did the test and when I blew in it the air was passing through. I tried it with the new one and it was completely solid. I cleared the check engine light and I’m hoping it doesn’t come back.
How do you clear the check engine.. please help
@@richdevaysolid1 I cleared mine with a scan device. But you can always do it the old fashioned way. Disconnect the battery for 5 minutes and connect it again. Doing this should clear all the codes.
So the code won't clear just by fixing the problem?
@@charleskinkade5380 most likely it won’t. But if you don’t have a scan tool you can always go to any parts store like AutoZone or O Reilly’s and they can clear it for you for free.

Yep figured it was this and the video with the comments confirmed it. Mine however was located on the top of the engine by the air intake. 2016 Chevy Impala LT Limited so if you have this kinda Impala that's where it's at and it is the same part he shows in the video not the other purg valve the have...or guess it could be but mine was the same he has shown.

Had this issue with my 2014 impala and actually took it to the dealership. They were supposed to replace it and now the check engine light is back on and I checked with my OBD II plugin. I have that exact code and I have trouble starting it after putting gas in it. Could it go so bad after replacing less than a year ago? Or could it be something else? I read something about the canister. Thanks for the super informative video. Following you now.

Thank you answered all my questions about this, crazy thing when I took off the part the hose connects to it had no rubber O ring to seal it. Put a O-ring on and codes fixed. I am still scratching my head on where the O-ring went.

My car got the same engine warning and trouble starting when I fuel up. Glad I saw This going to try this fix tomorrow. Got a question though. If I’ve had this problem for a few months would this also cause a problem with the alternator?

I have p0442 as well as p0171/p0174 running too lean. Would this still be the solution for those codes or something else?
I have a 17 premier no check engine light but car has a slightly rough idle and when I’m accelerating kinda putters or struggles could this fix my problem??? Thought it was a misfire and changed spark plugs.. not sure what to do to fix my issue..

So, I have a 2015 Chevy Impala like this one, and I've been hearing sort of a tapping noise that sounds like it could be coming from the purge valve. The check engine light does come on intermittently, and I went to Auto Zone and they said it was throwing the P0171& P0174 codes. Could it be a bad purge valve? I know these cars are notorious for these things going bad.

It seems that P0442 code is the norm with any Impala. I had the same issue with my 2009 and now my 2015.
I changed the purge valve, the check eng. light turned off and now came back and still giving the same reading
What is the purpose of the purge valve or solenoid?

My check engine light came on and scanned code and got the p0442 code , would this cause my remote start not to work?
Some vehicle manufacturers disable remote start when the check engine is one. Hope this helps

The code P0442 indicates that’s there’s a small leak in the EVAP system. That can range from a torn and damaged hose or a part that might defected. The evap system is a complicated system, but I have a video that explains all the parts that are a part of the system

I replaced the purge valve on my 2014 Chevy but the engine light has not turned off. It's been a week and a half now.

@@OzMechanics when I filled it up with gas rhe car would stall out after a jump start. If you can call it that. I also checked for suction in the purge valve..the test you did. Sure enough, after I fixed it all was well except I cannot get that engine light off.
Did you reset the system after replacing the valve?

no one knows the(or if there is a) differance between purge valves & iac valves - these days(I’m not sayng that wasNt a purge valve)👋
Purge valve is a purge valve and an idle air control valve is an idle air control valve. Not the same thing

none the less, Iv found out that impala switched from iacv to this, ok differant, purge valve in around 2005.. now I gotta find out why my purge valve has N intermitNt knocking sound(& yes I switched it a couple years ago - no change)
