This channel will blow up soon if you stay consistent with it man, keep the vids coming, The editing is very well done and the vids are clean and detailed
Wow! I really appreciate it! Due to some hiccups in my schedule, I am not able to produce as much content! However, I am building a dedicated studio space just for the channel and will return. Thanks for taking the time to watch my video!
I became interested in watches in College while studying to be a commercial pilot. I was fortunate to get an Omega Seamaster GMT when I graduated and that watch has been on my wrist almost every day since I graduated in 2003 - 19 years. The true GMT function is handy and since I am an airline pilot I traverse timezones often multiple times a day when I'm working so I fiddle with time adjustment frequently. Recently it became evident that my Seamaster needed another service (its 3rd) and wanting a substitute other than my small trusty micro brand swiss quartz watch I have had since high school (the late 1990s) I bought a Seiko 5 on a whim to tide me over while the omega is getting serviced since I recalled reading about how they were such a great, economical automatic watch and liked their styling. I fell in love with my SRPD51 and how incredibly affordable it was. After reading more about the Seiko lineup and the new Seiko 5 GMT I had to have one of those also and grabbed it on sale. I am a huge fan of both my SRPD51 and SSK003 (blue GMT). The SRPD51 seems to run about +10 to15 seconds per day but my GMT is running -2 to 1 seconds per day! right up there with my Omega in recently serviced top shape. I'm floored by its performance / price. The ONLY knock is the office GMT and I"m not too crazy about the Cyclops. It doesn't feel or look as quality or clear as my Seamaster GMT but it still cost little more than 15% of my Omega's price 20 years ago. 10% of its used value today. Its nice to have an affordable watch that isn't quite as flashy or expensive especially since I am often walking through unfamiliar cities and towns (sometimes not the best areas) to find a meal while on a layover during a 4 day trip for work. Its also nice to be worry free about knocking or scratching it as much while out and about. I'm looking forward to having my beloved omega back looking and working like new but my Seikos are definityly going to see some wrist time and shelve the omega more often than it ever was. Now I only have to hold back my desire to get the black SSK001 for more color options and start swapping out bracelets and styles. I'm a huge fan of this watch.
Wow. Thanks for sharing! Seiko’s in general offer amazing value and, like your Seiko 5 has demonstrated, can keep up with the big boys mechanically. Like you said, it can be used as a great watch in shady areas but still have some eye candy for the wearer to enjoy. It’s unfortunate we have to be careful where to wear our “nicer” watches out and about but that’s just the world we live in. Thanks for watching and hope you enjoyed my video 😃
Just bought this exact watch, the orange. I own several high end watches. I purchase watches through moments that change my life. I bought this watch because I completed my first job as a business owner and made a large profit. This watch isn’t my most expensive but it’s mind blowing how beautiful it is for the price and that is why I bought it because it reminds me of my business.
When I first saw this release from Seiko, I was super excited, I think this is probably my favorite watch in years. And that isn't because of the watch itself, I mean it's nice to see an affordable GMT from an established brand, but because of the movement inside the watch. This four hand GMT movement will open up a whole new range of affordable GMT watches from microbrands. And because it's a Seiko it's perfect for people who like to mod or create their own GMT watch. I can't wait to get my hands on this movement and make my own watch with it.
Very good point! I was always fascinated with GMT complications, especially mechanical GMT's, which not too long ago came in at a pretty penny. I feel like this year really opens the door to many getting into this hobby with many affordable options to choose from. I'm excited to see what other brands have in store for this new movement. Thanks for watching!
Great review, I picked up this watch last weekend & am really enjoying it. Previously owned & sold a polar 216570, and the main thing I miss between those watches is the easy-link clasp extension. I’d gladly spend a couple hundred bucks extra for Seiko to include a quick-adjustment… maybe some day!
I have a Rolex GMT Master II with a true Traveller's GMT function. I wanted a cheaper and less obtrusive GMT watch for travel and thought this would work. I even bought it at a 25% discount not knowing the Seiko SSK003 does NOT have a true Traveler's GMT function but an Office GMT function. They work quite differently. The Seiko got returned. If you know how a true Traveler's GMT function works, you may not be satisfied with this Seiko. I also own the Seiko SKX.
I got the blue one recently - never owned an SKX or a 5KX, and gotta say I love it! The bracelet is way better than any of my other Seiko bracelets, I like where they’re going with this
Seiko is definitely going into the right direction with their redesign of their jubilee bracelets. Now if only Grand Seiko can listen up and do the same haha. Thanks for watching! 😃
All the reviews mention it is a great GMT, but it is a good value watch by itself? I really want a diver-style Seiko, I don't really mind the GMT complication but the bracelet and bezel look way better than the ones of the 5 sports, so I am torn.
Ah the dilemma! I completely understand. I'd say save the money on the GMT and get yourself a Seiko 5 Sports dive watch on a strap and pick up a jubilee style bracelet from a 3rd party brand like StrapCode or Uncle Seiko. I know StrapCode has some jubilee options and Uncle Seiko has one as well, although I'm not 100% positive it'll fit the 5KX. I have what they used to call the Angus Jubilee from StrapCode and it's a great quality bracelet that almost never leaves the watch. Hope this helps!
@@ClickyBezel Yes!, that really helped to make up my mind. And the dial and color choices on the 5 sports are way more extensive, so I had a lot to choose from. Thanks!
I own the SSK001 (the one your dad owns). I absolutely love everything about this watch so much so that I’m willing to overlook the accuracy issue. Perhaps it’s just my particular watch but the accuracy has been less than impressive. It’s within Seiko’s margins so no use in complaining. The 4R34 is a workhorse movement. It’s sort of a crap shoot as these movements are not regulated to a high degree before being cased. Your review was excellent and touched on all the major points. It’s an all around great watch!
Yes, this GMT is super nice. I’m surprised for the quality and look for such affordable price. Got myself the blue black one and got lot of compliments.
It's a great watch, especially if you've been holding off on a mechanical GMT from a microbrand. With Seiko, you know exactly what the quality expectations will be. Thanks again for watching!
Have them both, love them both, can't really compare the Seiko 5 GMT to the Rolex Pepsi for fit, quality, clasp, height, and overall panache. I wear them both, but Porshe beats Honda every time.
Great video! First time viewer of your channel. Question, did I see the 24 hour hand adjusts as a "jump hour," or am I interpreting that incorrectly? If so, seems like a good option to adjust time in the travel destination to get an "almost" traveller GMT functionality.
Hi! Thanks a lot for joining and discovering my video! It does jump an hour at a time but only forwards as the other direction is how you adjust the date wheel.
Nice video. Really like your short and concise reviews. I really wanted to like the orange one but when I went to check them out in person I liked the blue the most. Didn't buy it though as it's just too cookie cutter.
Thank you! That's a very good way to put it "cookie cutter". I think it's safe that Seiko did this with their SKX case. Hopefully with the development of this new caliber, or rather modification, we get to see more affordable GMT's from Seiko!
I own the SSK001, you are wearing your watch too tight by bracelet indentations on your wrist. You should add one more link for a more comfortable fit.
You’re absolutely right! I don’t know why travelers gmt came to mind when filming. Thanks for pointing that out and most of all, thanks for stopping by to watch 😊
Aw, I was really ready to buy this to replace my Black Bay GMT until I learned it's not a true GMT. I do frequently track other timezones and would hate to only be able to use the rotating bezel. Great looking piece though, and the bracelet does look great.
I mean it’s a bit finicky but you can still use the gmt hand to track the home time one. You just change the local hour and minutes. Then go back and change the GMT hand.
@@ClickyBezelonly a poor fit on skinny or limp wrists, or guys who wrar them way too loose. Loving the bezel on orange model. Great watch for that price hellyea. I love my 2 orange monsters and 1 orange baby monster, now this one next!!
I wouldn't say the quality is cheap, it's what you expect from a Seiko 5 Sports model. Good bang for your buck but with the added GMT complication could be a little steep for some. Considering it is a mechanical GMT complication from Seiko, I say it's something worth thinking about! Thanks for watching.

That pop orange 👍🏻
I’m a sucker for a orange pop dial!
Yes there is a difference with the case. The gmt case os thicker to accommodate the 4th hand

Can you do a side by side comparison of the Seiko 5 GMT and the Rolex GMT master II?
That sounds like a fun comparison video. Thanks for the idea!
Great review 🎉 thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi, is it made in japan?
Good value for a gmt and looks great but friction bezels bug me. Maybe it’s just me.
I don’t mind it but I definitely wouldn’t want a 120 click bezel on a GMT. Overall, I think it’s a great watch! Thanks for watching!
I bought an SSK003 blue dial and I wear it almost as much as my Rolex Submariner in ss/gold with a blue dial.
It’s such an easy go-to watch right? Thanks for watching!
I own the SSK001, you are wearing your watch too tight by bracelet indentations on your wrist. You should add one more link for a more comfortable fit.
Haha that’s just the way I like to wear my bracelets. Thanks for watching!
why did they choose to do the black and blue?
I'm assuming they were inspired by the color scheme of the Rolex Batman. Unoriginal but I could understand their strategy. Thanks for watching!
Bugs will replace your meals too yay
Yum 😋
Damn, so seiko can not even put strapcode kevel bracelet on 500 buck watch?
Haha sadly... Regardless, it still has that Seiko charm.
340$ not 500 lol
These are actually Caller GMTs.

Yup! Takes extra time to set the time haha
If you track other zones this should be fine. If you travel, that’s another story.
Really. you must be easy to please.
It’s a great watch!
