Calamity of cinders is great with the new Judith. Can convoke it with her and the imps she makes and she gives it lifelink and death touch to make it a full one sided wipe and gain a huge chunk of life
On dragon hawk, Wolfgar of ice wind dale and bello were made for it. Bello gets a big bord of 4 power creatues and wolfguar has so many on attck pump effects you can easely get to 10 cards exiled burn for 20
I like the calamity of cinders take. But it’ll be a bit meta dependent. Whether only 6 damage is enough. Or whether your group is attack heavy so many of their creatures are often tapped.
Yeah when I cast a board wipe, it’s usually because I’m gonna lose if I don’t. I don’t wanna have to worry about if 6 is enough or if anything else is tapped. It seems great if your deck cares about noncombat damage specifically, or as removal in a go wide deck, but doesn’t fill a red board wipe slot like blas act and chain reaction do, imo
Season of weaving is amazing for Brudiclad decks, I have 5 color deck with Brudiclad as the hidden commander, season of weaving is insane for my Brudiclad deck!
I actually ended up cutting Crux of Fate from my Dragon Deck, Dragon's being a popular archtype means typically it misses out on clearing the field entirely.
You know I'm all for new cards that aren't inherently broken, getting some attention. It definitely makes the format feel fresh and not stale. I just wish the catalyst for this kind of discussion wasn't "My friend's disagreed with me, so here's 30 minutes of me whining about why they're wrong"
On calamity of cinders I agree with your premise but I’m concerned too often it won’t play out well. It misses too many targets and one of the most powerful things about one sided wipes is the ability to swing afterwards. You have to wait a full turn cycle to swing while all your opponents largest creatures get to crack back. I very well could be wrong on the card but I don’t have high hopes for it. Convoke is always a very powerful keyword and worth note. Thank you for discussing the card
I have also found Calamity of Cinders to be quite good. One drawback you don’t mention, though, is that tapping down your stuff to cast it negates one of the best aspects of specialized or conditional boardwipes, namely being able to wipe your opponents then attack while they have no defenders. That makes me rate it lower than wraths like Winds of Rath, Damning Verdict or Crux of Fate in decks that have those sorts of options available.
I love Calamity of Cinders. No it's not going to be a $50 chase card, but it works especially well in every red-adjacent token strategy, and anything that benefits from tapping/untapping. Kalamax is an easy one if you have other tokens or if you have a copy spell, oof. He works great with Chord of Calling and this is also great. Then any kind of "untapping" strategy like 13th doctor can make this spell basically free.
Caretaker's Talent is crazy in Calix, Guided by Fate because once he creates a copy of it you can pay one white to copy the token copy of it and since level is not a copied attribute you can then keep paying 1 white mana to get more copies with each new one. Also really good in Brenard, Ginger Sculptor because you can copy the 1/1 food versions of your creatures.
I bought a caretaker's talent for my Yenna, Redtooth Regent deck. If you copy it once with her, you can keep making copies as kong as you have white mana. Have to be careful not to end up decking myself though, as it's draw is not a may.
Just to add to Caretakers talent, it replaced Tocasia's Welcome in my Alela esper deck. The level 1 is pretty much the same effect in that deck and after that it gets better.
I think the main issue with calamity is that it only hits untapped creatures, which means its useless against non-vigilant creatures that have been actively attacking and are a threat.
Calamity is solid. It's not cracked but it's far from being bad. Sure it's no Blasphemous Act but that really can't be the only metric you measure by. Plus sometimes you want *more* than one wipe in your deck.
Overall i think red realy needs to catch up with its boardwipes. Being limited to damage based ones and drstroy artifacts is fine but they are mostly overcosted. I also like the idea of giving red more instantspeed and/or onesided wipes ala deley blast fireball.
so the problem with calamity of cinders other than the already mentioned its not good if your board state is behind and you're casting it for 5 or 6 mana. but it also only hits untapped creatures. so you do run a risk of your opponents attacking with the creatures you want to remove and now not being able to remove them. so there's 3 instances where its just a really clunky card where you might not have the creatures to convoke it, or you can convoke it but their creatures are tapped (especially against like elves or other decks that run creatures who wanna be tapped for reasons other than attacking), and then 6 damage being a number where a lot of times the things you really want gone are going to have higher toughness than that to begin with. now red has a lot of dmg increasers so 6 might actually be 8 or 12 etc but it is still a valid downside
season of weaving targetting coveted jewel twice basically turns into a draw 7 card as you get refunded the mana by copying the jewel twice and the last paw spent on the draw a card
Squirrels are the new mainstream Tomer 👀 watch out for them squirrels. Man says he doesn’t want to talk about frogs and then his first card is a frog 😜
@@BingbongRecto inkshield usually puts a lethal army all by itself and 5 is a lot less than 6 to hold up, but they do both have their own advantages. I'm not convinced but I'd try it.
Very good reasons to buy those but now that you said it they are going to explode in price because mtg goldfish has an impact on the market. Also none of those are cheap right now
LOL yes Tomer gets his own solo "podcast" haha I love it.
He is the Justin Timberlake
Only way to not just get drowned with contrarian takes
Its like getting a bonus podcast! Thanks Tomer.
Curious Tomer didn't call out Plains, Island, Swamp, Mountain or Forest as good cards in Bloomburrow. Guess they aren't playable after all :(
Season of weaving has been nuts for me so far in a Da Vinci deck 😂🤘
If your defense of a card starts with "The floor of this card sucks" then the card is probably not good.
Calamity of cinders is literally the perfect board wipe for raggadragga
Finally someone respects the blue season. I thought i was going crazy or am missing something by now 😅.

Tomer tomer we love tomer
My take is that pollywag prodigy is super hyped, you cant put it in a generic deck and hope is gonna draw a ton of cards.
I love that several of these cards are super budget
Commander Clash Podcast #1 and Commander Clash Podcast #2: Just Tomer

Thumbnails looking amazing these days 🙏
The fact that pollywog prodigy is already the cost of esper sentinel is wild, I’m glad I bought family matters
here I was thinking "damn, no tomer takes" and see there, the problem was solved! :D

I think the logic for Calamity of Cinders is sound, it's worth testing more to see
Dragonhawk definitely going in my Sarkhan deck, which is very "sneak attack" like, also.
Calamity of Cinders is phenom, it wipes so many boards. i think a lot of people hate on it because its sorcery
Calamity of cinders in my Magda deck? Yes please
The thumbnail looks like prodigy is tomers favorite child and the rest are jealous.

Already built a Dragonhawk deck, and it is busted. Roaming throne, combat celebrant, and any damage doubler is a 30+ damage turn to each opponent.
15:17 analyst and Lumra are both 6 mana right?
Yeah oops both 6 mana to get the full effect
Tomer has the best takes anyways lol
No. He is often the voice of reason though…until he’s not and he dies on the most unreasonable hills out of anecdotal evidence
I think Calamity of Cinders is really niche, it seems like only very specific decks want it
season of weaving targetting coveted jewel twice basically turns into a draw 7 card as you get refunded the mana by copying the jewel twice and the last paw spent on the draw a card

Tomer about to eat the frog in the thumbnail
White season card blowing up in standard commander too removal
No perch protection? I’m so high on the cards
6 mana is so incredibly high to keep up as protection. I can see it being powerful in certain situations and in Draw-Go but it's very narrow imo.
@@tomerabramovici32 I consider it closer to inkshield than tpro, especially if you run overrun effects

season of gatherin against necron precon ...I WIN

Forget the haters, Tomer. Calamity of Cinders looks like a bomb.

I hate this set.
It's both boring and overpowered.
Spare me from frogs and rodents. Zzzzzzzzzzz
