Noone will fill any shoes of the ones mentioned in this song, and noone will ever fill George's shoes.
Man. We still hanging on Strait
Absolutely 💯 percent correct!
I am a George Jones fan. Believed that for years. Merle haggard has a son Ben that sounds close to his dad. Willie Nelson has a son that sounds just like him. But in the end you will never totally fill their shoes but they can keep the legacy going. Merle has two other sons that can sing as well. I enjoy listening to them
U got that right nobody filling there shoes
Exactly
He was CERTAINLY on that list! RIP George!
The outlaw is Waylon Jennings, man in black is Johnny cash, red headed stranger is Willie Nelson, okie from Muskogee is merle haggard, hello darlin is Conway twitty & Luke the drifter is Hank Williams. They are the greatest Country music Legends.
I was just gonna post all that because I know she has no clue... but that is what the song is about.
@@michellejackson6679 haha beat ya to it😆 but yeah you're right no clue😆
Kris Kristofferson, was he known as a poet, or can you think of something else for him? I know he's a great song writer.
Marty Robbins, Hank Williams, & Lefty Frizzle. Luke the Drifter was the name Hank Williams used to release gospel music. Most juke boxes were put into bars by record companies, free of charge, with the caviot that they had to use the record companies new releases. Imagine someone sitting in a bar drinking, & all of a sudden I Saw the Light, or Amazing Grace comes on, because it was released by Hank Williams!! The gospel music he released, as Luke the Drifter wasn't released in his name, until after his passing.
My man was listing goat after goat 👑👑
I like how you appreciate music. George Jones was concidered to be a living legend before he died. As one of the biggest contributers to country music paying his respects to other greats and asking the question, Who's Going to Fill there Shoes???? Well if you ask me, it is going to be a long time before someone could come close to filling his shoes. If it could even be done. Thank you for the kind words to one of my favorite singers.
PLEASEEEEE do the official video for this! This is a tribute song to a lot of artists you probably haven’t been exposed to yet. The video gives a better explanation.
I totally agree with you. This is one of those songs where the official music video add more feel to the song
Yes, Britt! You need to do that! This song is really special if you grew up with these people who's shoes cannot be filled.
Alan Jackson said once in an interview, "Well, I don't know if I can fill them, but I'd sure like to try them on."
Love this comment! Obviously no one can but some people can step up and try.
Love it! ❤
This song is underrated in my opinion, you'll have to listen to all these songs to understand the significance of them. I'll recommend "the man in black" my personal favorite Johnny Cash song
No one will ever fill.his shoes! Rip George! 🙏🙏🙏
I absolutely love this song and it make me sad and proud that I experienced that REAL music and NOBODY can fill their shoes
He's a GOAT Icon When passed away they Televised His Memorial Service, for 2 hours or more, all I could was cry,Thank you for your reaction hope you have a blessed day 🙏 sending you love from Lafayette Georgia 🙏 🍑
Jones sings of the irreplacibility of country music legends including Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Conway Twitty, Roy Acuff, Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Charlie Rich, Hank Williams, Marty Robbins, and Lefty Frizzell.
Plus in the second stanza he goes to Hank Williams the original! Carl Perkins Marty robbins and lefty frizzel ! Even the king Elvis before he talks about i can almost feel them on this silver Eagle rolling through the night!! ( tour bus).
Question? How many of y’all have been to the wabash cannonball, or just the brands old opry and listened to any set? I know I’ve been to both and the old opry too! Plus tombstone junction which is also a place they’d all play! I saw Lorrie Morgan there a month after Keith Whitley passed away and she did allot of his songs there! Side note! She was hot as the hot can get too!! She has a complete leather ensemble with spiked leather collar Around her sexy little neck!! And a leather tank top! I’d haven’t seen one they’re wonderful Abe’s she was the hottest thing a thirteen year old i think had ever seen!! Woo hoo
Those shoes haven't been filled, because their brand of Country Music has been replaced by today's version.
This song always brings a tear to my eyes...
Who's gonna fill their shoes... A woderful tribute to the great stars of Country Music.
NOBODY can fill the shoes of Cash, Hank, Merle, Lefty, Conway, Elvis, Carl, Jerry Lee... and George!
And I'm sure, they don't make shoes like that anymore! ;)
He’s talking about the old and outlaw country guys like Waylon, Willie, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, David Allen Coe, Hank Williams and so many more of the founders of country music. Thanks you have no idea how much this music means to me.🌹❤️🔥🥂
Now even George Jones is telling you to listen to Conway Twitty, "Hello Darlin" @ 1:14
Classic George Jones
So crazy he sang this song about the legends and he himself is one of them
This is one of those songs that you need to watch the official video to really get the feel of the song...
You can't really get the feel of the song from the video alone.. You also have to be familiarized with the artists referenced.
That's why I always 😑 every time I see people request a reaction to this song to reactors who aren't familiar with the artists mentioned.. It's naive to think it will hit them in the feels the same way it does to us who are familiar with those artists.. It's just a "meh" song when you don't know who he's singing about.
Here are the legend artists referenced:
"The Outlaw that walks through Jessi's dreams" - Waylon Jennings is the Outlaw, Jessi is his wife, music artist Jessi Colter. (Struggle Jennings' step-grandpa and grandma)
"Red Headed Stranger" - Willie Nelson
"Man in Black or Folsom Prison Blues" - Johnny Cash
"Okie from Muskogee" - Merle Haggard
"Hello Darlin" - Conway Twitty
"The Wabash Cannon Ball" - Roy Acuff
"The boys from Memphis. Blue Suede Shoes and Elvis." - Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley
"Jerry Lee and Charlie" - Jerry Lee Lewis and Charlie Rich
"Go Cat Go" - Carl Perkins
"Luke the Drifter. I Saw the Light." - Hank Williams Sr.
"Marty, Hank, and Lefty." - Marty Robbins, Hank Snow, Left Frizzell.
This song was released way back in 1985.. The only ones who's thankfully still alive with us are Willie Nelson and Jessi Colter.. Jerry Lee Lewis recently passed away last year on October 28th, at the age of 87.
The "Hanks" that left big shoes are numerous. Not only Williams and Snow, but also Thompson and Locklin.
George Jones " He stopped loving her today." Great love song, love your hair.
Three of the country legends were still alive at the time of this performance. Merle Haggard passed in 2016, Johnny Cash in 2003 and Conway Twitty in 1993. There may have been some I missed. George Jones left us in 2013. It must have been a great honor to those George mentioned!
More than you mentioned. Waylon and Willie were also definitely still with us in 1985. Hell, Willie is still around today.
The song was released in 1985.
Jerry Lee Lewis was with us until Oct 28 of last year. He was 87.
Waylon was with us until June 15, 2002.
Jessi Colter is still alive today.
Willie Nelson is still alive today.
Carl Perkins was with us until January 19, 1998.
Basically everybody outside of Elvis and those mentioned in last chorus (Hank Williams Sr., Marty Robbins, Hank Snow, Lefty Frizzell) was still alive when this song was released.
@@Gutslinger Marty Robbins wasn't.
@@ednafenton7558 Wasn't what? Dead?
Marty Robbins passed away in 1982.. 3 years before this song came out.
@@Gutslinger Sorry, l forgot to finish my thoughts. That's my brain wondering away again. I thought the comment was that Marty was still alive when video was made. Sad day when Marty left us. Did you ever get to see Marty in person? I did as a teenager(15or16) in 1975/76. Asked my bestfriend, who didn't like Country Music to go with me & my parents. My Aunt had operation and gave me her two tickets. All l talked about for a week & all the way to the concert was..."You're gonna love Marty Robbins. He has a sexy voice!" My friend thought l was crazy. All she said "ok". Well, Marty started singing & there sat two googly eyed teenagers drooling over Marty. My friend was in love with Marty like me & soon after l found out she was listening to Country Music. She also fell in love with Conway Twitty & The Statler Brothers. Sexiest voices in Country Music Marty & Conway. I still miss them both.
Good job young lady, the outlaw that walks through Jessies Dream is Waylon Jennings Jessie Colter was his wife and a very good artist herself, one of Waylons biggest hits was Luckenbach Texas
him my dad and uncle was raised together. and he drove home just to make sure he was at my fathers funeral
I'm proud I know all these singers he's talking about!!! Keep going on your country journey
Seen so many of your reactions and I love em all... Your Beautiful!
Thank you so much!! 🥹
I love George Jones ♥ Thanks for another great reaction!
Watched this Live & was blown away… ❤️George Jones…
Yeah, i am that old… lol. I missed work to watch this
absolutely beautiful made me cry
I absolutely loved watching you experience for the first time something I've been blessed to grow up on...
Thank you ❤
Thanks for this reaction Ms. Britt, along the lines of this song and message, would love to see you react to a collaboration with George Strait&Alan Jackson, "murder on music row" I think you would the song and the message they bring
Thank you for this reaction... and no one has filled their shoes
This is my song for my Daddy … he was the toughest loving man we ever knew …. The whole family called on my daddy and knew he would be there as fast as he could get there . Sang and played the guitar and wrote his own music …. We all said the same thing when he passed …. Who do we call on now … funny it’s his children the family calls on now … so it took 5 kids to fill one man’s boots …
You can go back 50 years with George he was in country music singer for 50 years before he died
nobody's gonna fill Geoge's shoes. well said , some substance !!!
Thank you and God Bless you live your channel just found it ! I love all music - I mean all 👌🏽😎
Love some George Jones.
This song will give you a history of the great country singers, unmatched by what we have today. Go watch the original video of that song snd you will see those that he spoke of in this song
Wonderful!! 😊
I love this song and so glad you reacted. As many have said, please watch the official video. It's great!
Look up MO Pitney and do one of his songs. He is young and he sings real country
Today's country cldn't even get on tht bus, jst say'n & these legends & there music n memories still linger throughout the years...
The video is so much better for this song :)
Absolute classic ♥️. RIP Possum
This song should be the basis for a quiz/test for anyone who wants to be thought of as a Country Music fan. When someone knows who all the people being sung about can be identified, they pass. LOL. There are some very talented younger folks in Nashville who are trying to stay true to what they moved to Nashville to do. Write and or sing traditional sounding country music. They are doing it, but not a lot of people (or at least not enough) know them because the people who run the industry nowadays tell them they are too country for country. WHAT??? So look for them on YT and other places. Buy their music and call the radio stations and ask for them. I can't list them all, but here are a few very talented people worth a listen. Mo Pitney. Teea Goans. Lauren Mascitti. To start you off, since you came to hear this song, look for Mo Pitney singing it right here on RUclips. Love you Britt. Enjoy everyone.
May as well put Georges Boots up on a shelf somewhere cause they wont be filled in a couple of lifetimes at least if ever
MUST do official video. It will make sense to see who he is referring to
Gotta watch the video for this song!!!!
I loved George Jones voice and hair in my opinion the best voice and hair ever in country music period
That was the magic of song writers of that era...spinning a tale you would think was real. I can't remember who sings it, but please look up the country song "silver wings".
You NEED TO WATCH the VIDEO of this song! AMAZING!
This is so much better than commercial TV. I really enjoy your reaction videos- thank you for posting, Britt!
You should react to Conway Twitty Hello Darling if you haven't already ready, George made reference to Conway Twitty in the line Hello Darling.
Here's my thing also.. country singers used to sound the same on their recordings as they did live
Country music is no longer country music. The shoees of those country Legends could never be filled by todays artists.
Love 😢you girl great job
Many artists and songs in this song would be worth a reaction. A fun side note. Luke the Drifter was Hank Williams Sr. The record label did not want him doing certain songs for fear they would not sale well. The compromise was that he'd do them under another name and Luke the Drifter was born. I don't think you've reacted to Conway Twitty yet, but he is another artist that has a growl in some of his songs. "Hello Darlin", "Saturday Night Special", "Slow Hand", and "The Rose" are some of my favorites.
I was listening to Luke the Drifter in the 50s when I was 8 years old. My favorites were I've Been Down That Road Before and Everything's Okay.
mmmm .... mmmm ..... mmmm ...... mmmm ..... mmmm ..... one day you will truly understand all these amazing references : some Willie Nelson & Waylon Jennings & Johnny Cash & Elvis Presley & Jerry Lee Lewis & Hank Williams Sr. & Conway Twitty & Kenny Rogers & Merle Haggard & Roy Acuff & Marty Stewart ..
This is the truth from one of the great truth poets ! 💔💔💔🎼💔💔💔🎼💔💔💔
If you don't know all the people he's singing about it's best to watch the video.
This is such an outstanding tribute to the Legends May they rest in peace
Sad things is that of all the people mentioned in this song, only Willie Nelson is still with us! And as for who's gonna fill their shoes? Nobody!
David Allen coe is still around believe it or not
George goes thru country and rock&roll artist and the songs they made famous, Jessie's dreams, Colter a country music artist and her gorgeous husband outlaw Waylon Jennings. Red headed stranger is Willy Nelson, man in black Johnny Cash. Okie- Merle Haggard, hello-Conway Twitter. Elvis, nuff said. Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins, Luke the drifter AKA Hank Williams. Marty Robbins, Hank Williams, Lefty Frizzell. The irony of this song is who could EVER fill George's shoes....He sung this as a fan but he left us in tears. There will NEVER be another George Jones, his voice was off the charts, he could get up pumped up with "I don't Need Your Rocking Chair" and then tear your heart out, (Grand Tour) "He Stopped Lovi'n Her Today" was and is the greatest country song, sung by the great country singer Mr. George Jones.
Choices by George Jones is great
And he's with all of them now. It brings
a tear to those of us who knew and grew up listening to the ones that are gone. I listened to Hank or Luke the Drifter and Roy Acuff when I was about five. I didn't know then that Hank had died before I was born. Roy Acuff was my dad's favorite of all of them. I saw Roy at the Opry. Over the years I saw a lot of these singers. They did real Country Music. The type you could play with only four chords on your guitar and piano. Hillbilly Heaven is another song about singers who have gone away.
No Show Jones. The Possum. George Jones is legendary. He has some great duets with Tammy Wynette, as well.
To really get the depth of this song please, please watch the official music video. It conveys more heart , soul, and love than you can handle. Im 60 and cry watching it.
One of the ole Opossums greatest.
The song pays homage to many of the great country legends. He references some by their nicknames, some by their songs, and some by their names. It's always interesting to watch the video to see how many of the actual people reactors will pickup on. There might be a few in country music who will be able to carry the torch but none will be able to fill their shoes
For more George Jones deep voice effect, listen to "One Woman Man" and "She's My Rock".
Thanks for posting. I'm a Jones fan and think there is no one better.
Brit- ever since Toby died, this is the song I hear in my head.
You must hear George sing Bartender Blues.
The official video is great!
George jones cold hard truth
I knew others would already have said what i'm going to.. You REALLY need to watch the original video. It puts the faces to the ones he's singing about. And IMO, no one could ever sing the song the way George did. Heck, he knew them all.
Great song and I will say nobody is going to fill their shoes ❤
Love you baby thank you for the love you have given George ❤️
The Righteous Brothers do a song called Rock and Roll Heaven which is in the same view.
Some shoes are never filled. RIP Possum.
Hey you have a good singing voice WOW
Nobody else can George
Oh gosh! You have to watch the official video!
I love your reactions sometimes when you are doing some more older country you should really react to Charlie pride he is in the country music hall of fame and you should react to kiss a angel good morning
amen
Good song good reaction
Farm Aid was Epic that year in Champagne, Illinois
Great reaction honey! React to George singing "the race is on"...
Darealdeal
love that song. if you ever get to react to Bartender Blues by George i think you will love it
Damn Brit! Amazing beauty
Patty Loveless and George Jones
"You Don't Seem To Miss Me"
No one is filling them and it is heartbreaking.
I love that you're checking out and liking the older country masters. I have a few suggestions I think you'll like,
Johnny Horton - "North to Alaska". My favorite because of the John Wayne movie of the same name.
Charley Pride -" Kiss an Angel Good Morning". A beautiful song that sums up how a woman should be treated.
Roger Miller - "Kansas City Star". A fun song to hear what he is like.
Grab the offiicial video and do another reaction. So much more to work with, and you will throw this reaction out!!
Let recommend that you listen to some Conway Twitty. “It’s Only Make Believe” and “Hello Darling”
You are wonderful
Great song! Also, just wanted to say that your videos are great and you are quickly becoming one of my favorite reactors to watch🥰
The good old boys
Glad you did this one, Ive always loved this song, not many people know about it these days
He's shouting out country singers. The red headed stranger is Willie Nelson.
You should have downloaded the official video it has a good story to it....
He lists off a lot of the greats of country music - Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Conway Twitty. You could spend 2 months reacting to the artists he mentions.
