I can't thank you enough!! I watched the video 5 times and then tried your method. It worked!!! I can't wait to do more! I need petite and they are impossble to find where I live. This will change my life! 😊😊
Thank you for this tutorial! I am autistic and have sensory trouble with sleeves, but don’t like just hacking the sleeves off of graphic tees. Now I can have nice looking graphic tank tops!
I love the way you change the look of your t-shirts. Also, could you show a video as to how to make cap sleeves on a blouse or shirt? You're a wonderful teacher! Thank you!
Hi Jan, Thank you for this great lesson. You taught me a lot. #1. Knit bias tape does not need to be cut on the bias. #2. I can add a knit binding on top of the already finished neck hole! WHOOPIE! Is it possible to add a Yoke to the front and back of a Knit top, to make the garment longer. I am always finding that bust darts are too high for my body on Ready Made garments. Subscribed. Big thanks!
Jan, if I could give you 2 thumbs up I would. This is such an informative video. There was not one thing I didn't appreciate. I learned much. TY. I want to echo Lilian M's comment about V-neck tees.
Exactly the how to I was looking for in first 6 minutes, thank you. It would be great if we see the same firsts 6 minutes but using a serger versus sewing machine.
Jan you are such a great teacher! Quick clarification, when you are stitching in the ditch (love it!), are you stitching into the green trim and blue shirt underneath OR just right next to the green and then down to the blue? Thank you!!!
I was looking for a video just like this! Making a tank top out of a t-shirt with clean edges. Thank you for the easy to follow instructions. I was wondering, do you have a video that shows how to widen/deepen the neckline? If not, could you possibly put it on your list? I'm sure it's the same as these but I would love to see it actually being done. I learn better that way. ;)
Hi Jan! I've watched a few of your videos now and love your method of explanation! Thank you :) I'm new to sewing and I'm trying to turn my tee shirts into tank tops. I traced a tank top whose fit I like and cut the tee shirt to match (like you did with the black shirt at 18 minutes in) but it's created a gap/bulge in the fabric at my boob. How can I adjust the sleeve to remove that extra fabric? Is it something I need to do when cutting, or when sewing the binding on?
When you sew the binding on the armhole, Make the binding a little shorter than the armhole. Then when you sew it to the shirt, you'll slightly stretch the binding as you sew. That should pull in the gapping. Let me know how it goes.
I always love your advice!! Thank you for such a helpful video. When you use a straight stitch like when you were putting the binding on how does it not pop when the fabric is stretched? I don’t love the look of zig zag top seam but don’t want it to pop :(
Good question, and I usually advise to not use a straight stitch on knit, however, I've never had an issue since it doesn't stretch that much. I would try using the lightning bolt stitch if you machine has it available. It's a very narrow zigzag that you wouldn't even notice the zag.

Thanks. You are so kind!
Can't wait ! I know they will all most likely be crew necks, but maybe down the road you will do a video with V-Necks T's too
Grea idea! I'll put it on the list!

Awesome. So glad you back at your sewing machine. Have fun sewing!
thank you. definitely going to use. I wonder if you can use same method to change a round neck to a v neck
Yes you can. I need to do a tutorial on this, because there are some tips that will make it easier.
That is real helpful. I am going to try it. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Helpful tips. Thank you!
You're so welcome!
Jan you are such a great teacher! Quick clarification, when you are stitching in the ditch (love it!), are you stitching into the green trim and blue shirt underneath OR just right next to the green and then down to the blue? Thank you!!!
When stitching in the ditch, you sew into the space right between both fabrics. I hope that makes sense. No need to topstitch.
@JanHowell ok yes and thank you!! I was trying to stitch both, no wonder I was having issues! Appreciate it.
Absolutely beautiful and they look very cute on you. Thank you for sharing your an excellent teacher. Namaste 🥰🐞🤗
So nice of you
Great video!! Thanks

Ya, you would do it the same way. I suggest finding a shirt you like the neckline and just using that as a guide.
I love these tips
Thanks

Awesome .
They are soooooo cute!!! Is it possible to use reg cotton for the binding if you cut it to exact size?
Thank you. No, regular cotton will not stretch, and you wouldn't be able to pull it over your head.
Love this!!
Thank you!
Hi, if I do not have a stretch material to use as binding, it is ok to use cotton material as binding on a T-shirt?
No. Woven fabrics will not stretch and make it very difficult to get over your head without stretching.
