    Great tutorial. I love how you take us from the very beginning to the very end. I love how you show your work at the machine. I hate when some creaters omit that part out of the video. They tell you what they'll do and come back to the table after it's been sewn. The work at the machine is an absolute fundamental piece of visual that all beginners should and need to see in order to grow their knowledge. However, just a little bit of feedback here as well... although I am a beginner myself but know this, others may not. You didn't talk the viewers through how to lay the pattern onto the fabric (selvedge vs. crosswise grain). It may also be helpful for beginners to know to always launder the fabric before starting any project to account for shrinkage.

      Hi there! Thank you so much for all the feedback! I appreciate it! And you're right...I always forget to talk about prewashing fabric, and grainline. I'll try to remember that for future videos! Thanks for watching :) - Dana

      Which sewing machine needle and size are you using❓❓❓My experience: many stretch and ballpoint needles cause skipping stitches. So far, the best for me have been Janome Purple Tip needles, yet I sometimes I still get skipped stitches, so I sew over stripes of tissue paper. Great video!

    what needle do you recommend for knits? Thank you so much for such great videos!

    • @MADEEveryday
      @MADEEveryday  9 месяцев назад

      Technically I should recommend a "ball needle" to you, which is best because it rolls off the knitted fibers. BUT....to be honest, I just sew with a standard needle on my knits because I've never had a problem and I hate changing my needle! haha. So there's the honest answer :) You can learn more about all that, and sewing with knits in my other video here, How to Sew with Knit Fabrics: ruclips.net/video/kYI9AG7pORc/видео.html

    When you stitch down the binding for the armhole, what stitch are you using, same zigzag as seam or a longer, shallower zigzag? Thanks!

    • @MADEEveryday
      @MADEEveryday  9 месяцев назад

      I believe I used a zigzag in that part also...but you could probably use a straight stitch here as well, since you are sewing it back and forth a few times. Less likely that the stitch will break

      Thanks Dianna! There are tons of options on Amazon and in fabric shops for wool pressing mats. I can't remember the exact brand I have, but here are some options for you: amzn.to/3PnyGdE

    You are a wonderful instructor. Where did you purchase your fabric?

      Thank you Robin! The fabric is one of my own designs, manufactured by Art Gallery Fabrics. I'm not sure if you can still find this exact strawberry print online, but I know you can find my cat fabric on Amazon: amzn.to/3PHyZSe Also, so an online search for "Dana Willard fabric" and you'll see other shops pop up. Thanks for watching! - Dana

    The bias strips don't need to be cut on a diagonal?

    • @MADEEveryday
      @MADEEveryday  10 месяцев назад +1

      In this case you don't need to, because you're using a knit fabric, so it will stretch as needed around the armholes and neckline. Yay!

    Can we do it with a two way stretch?

      @MADEEveryday  10 месяцев назад

      Yes totally! Make sure the stretch is going horizontal across the chest.

    Maybe someone can answer this for me. I dont sew clothing, but im assuming on the pattern you add the seem allowance?

    • @MADEEveryday
      @MADEEveryday  10 месяцев назад

      I did not add seam allowance, because the seam allowance was already included in the tank top that I traced for my pattern piece. Hopefully that makes sense.

    Someone may have asked this or maybe it was said in the video, but how much material will be needed to do a medium tank top? Thank you.

    • @MADEEveryday
      @MADEEveryday  15 дней назад +1

      Hey there! You need about 1 yard of fabric to make a tank top, depending on size. Most knits are about 55-60" wide, so you get a lot of fabric per yard! Hope that helps. I usually put this info in the video description notes if you need to find it in the future. Have fun sewing! - Dana

      She does say it's a knit fabric, zig zag stitch 1.8" or any stretch stitch and she has other videos on sewing with knit fabric that goes into more detail. Hope that helps.

    You are not really creating your 'own' pattern. You are copying it from a ready-made shirt.

      Yes, correct. But it's a great way for new sewers to understand clothing construction and how the pieces go together. I recommend all sewers to start this way!
