Great tutorial. I love how you take us from the very beginning to the very end. I love how you show your work at the machine. I hate when some creaters omit that part out of the video. They tell you what they'll do and come back to the table after it's been sewn. The work at the machine is an absolute fundamental piece of visual that all beginners should and need to see in order to grow their knowledge. However, just a little bit of feedback here as well... although I am a beginner myself but know this, others may not. You didn't talk the viewers through how to lay the pattern onto the fabric (selvedge vs. crosswise grain). It may also be helpful for beginners to know to always launder the fabric before starting any project to account for shrinkage.
Hi there! Thank you so much for all the feedback! I appreciate it! And you're right...I always forget to talk about prewashing fabric, and grainline. I'll try to remember that for future videos! Thanks for watching :) - Dana
I just HAVE to say. I love your videos, just found you and am so so so happy that there is someone showing step by step videos for sewing that I can understand. I am making matching circle skirts for my nieces and now definitely a tank top for myself. Thank you so much for doing your videos!!!❤️❤️❤️
Genius ! You took something very complicated and made it easy-Peasy lemon-squeezy! No math or measuring! Fabulous! Can’t wait to buy some knits. Thank you 🙏🏼!
I need to make a tank top to attached to a skirt (that used to be a halter dress/I cut up!) to make it a dress again! I purposely searched in youtube for help with making a tank top for dresses and this video popped up. Not at the top. I had to scroll quite a bit to find it but I am so glad I did find it. This is exactly what i was looking for. Thanks!
You inspire me so much and really help me to be a better seamstress! I am so thankful for your funny light hearted attitude and MASTER skills. I really do wanna be like you when I grow up lol! I just set up a sewing room for me and my 3 daughters. You are on the ipad constantly as we learn to sew!
I’ve always loved your how-to videos and I’ve used many of them in the past. Just recently I went back to your “envelope” pillow case and little boys shorts videos. I’ve used the little girls skirt pattern too with the elastic waist. I also like the “how to make a pillow case with cording” video. Idk why on Earth they don't teach this skill in schools. In Home Economics. They should start when kids, especially girls, are around 8 or 9 (as it does require some patience)and continue to advance up until graduation. Like make a tank top, a T-shirt, long sleeve shirt, a simple skirt, a simple dress, scarves, pant, etc. In this country there are so many women who don't know how to sew and it's so rewarding once someone gets proficient and fast. And once we are grown up, it's much harder due to having to work and raise kids especially for single moms who have to work and it's so sad. I have always wanted to sew. Thank you for sharing this beginning How-To. So helpful 😊
Wow, you're so motivational and funny! I could always sew pillows and curtains, but am now doing some simple clothes - this was so informative, definitely making soon!

You've totally got this! Honestly....I've learned so much about clothing construction by just jumping in and deconstructing my store-bought clothing to figure out how the pieces go together, etc. You can do it! And if you mess up, you can start over :) haha. Good luck Elizabeth! - Dana
Thanks for sharing, I’ve been procrastinating, making a sundress for myself, my plan was using one of my existing dresses as a pattern so now you have motivated me to get going. 👍❤️😊

@@stephaniem6200 Oh I'm so happy! You made it and you're wearing it! yay!! As for the bumps, not sure exactly what you mean....are you pulling the binding too tight so it's puckering up as you sew?
