- I run through how I set up my bed in my hotshot truck! Easy platform with 3/4" plywood, memory foam twin matress and rear seats still installed! This is not a DOT approved sleeper setup, split logging and teams cannot use this for legal breaks in that aspect! I have linked a video referring to those rules.

I think this will work perfectly in my Dodge Dakota Quad Cab. Great grandma with 6 great-grandchildren in 6 states from Colorado to North Carolina and looks really comfy. Thanks for the great video. I can do it myself even being elderly. Blessings.
Working in the oil field for the past few years I've slept as much in a truck as I have in a bed...
I subscribed to show you support brother...
Hammer Down
Much appreciated man! 👍👍
Its nothing like a decent bed after a long drive, think about this u save a 100 bucks everytime u lay down lol

Exactly, we can get free shower at the trickster, whole needs motel?
I'm not a trucker, but I live out west between two different states and often make the 10hr drive back and forth.
One time my roommate, a pretty sheltered dude living off his parents, was riding with me in my pickup, and it turned into a huge argument because we were both getting sleepy half way into drive - and so I said he could take the back seat because I sleep just fine in my driver's seat. As long as I have a pillow, I don't even need to recline my seat.
He became all heated and said that there's no way he could sleep in the truck. Mind you, I have multiples of inflatable sleeping pads and pillows, sleeping bags, etc.
He wouldn't have it, was acting like I was trying to serve him cockroaches for dinner. He thought sleeping in the truck was some crazy freaking idea and insisted that we get a motel.
Well at the time I was still new in construction making laborers wages, and paying for college too, so there was no way I was even gonna pay $60 to split a room. So we drove to a motel, he got a room and I slept in the truck 😅
Daniel, I see you called him “roommate” not friend. I’m glad to hear that because he is a a$$hole😊
That works well. I built one similar for my Ford. I later installed a cow town sleeper and that has been a game changer.
Thanks for this video. It was very informative and showed how a simple design can really serve a great purpose. All the best!
Simplest way I’ve seen so far. Nice.
Very cool idea. I did something similar but I actually removed my rear seats (just the bottom part.) Gave me loads of secure storage underneath, and made for a very comfortable bed
Oh and I took a different route for the mattress. Combination of cushion foam and “craft foam” from an art and craft store. Made a custom shaped mattress.
I have a similar set up, i used hinges on the legs and fold down and covered up the plywood with pleather.
Nice set up! Thanks for the video. Gonna try this. Beats sleeping on the seats in a sleeping bag
I have made a bed like that before it works so great I like the way you reinforced the legs The think mattress is a must for a good nights sleep ,,awesome thanks for sharing
You're the best dude with the best info about this hot shot sh*t. Thanks again man. Keep on trucking.
Thanks for sharing this really helpful and have a rest night on the truck for next morning
Simple elegance 💪😁Nice job!
Good set up. Simple and efficient. 😎🤟👍
A serrated electric turkey carving knife is perfect for cutting foam.
What's the next best thing in your opinion?
You are a big help man , thank you !
Very good......you make it look easy! 🤗
Great video. Thank you for the great information.
Thanks for your videos my man. Solid dude.
Looks good man, easy install/removal, too.
Good to see you got your steel toe flip flops on. Nice job they make you look so professional
Load Mizer, you made me wiser!
Thank you for showing us how easy it is to create a bed in the crew cab.
I'm so glad, I didn’t have to attend a scientific lab. (LOL)
Reminds me of what a wise man said many years ago, - My yoke is easy ...
Matthew 11:30.
Now that's creative
You did it again always great content
Thanks for that! 👍👍
Getting my done on Sunday ✌️🤙
Awesome man!👍
Cool video Ricky
Alright, that was a pretty good vid.👍🏽
Good setup bro.
Patent that design call it the Load Mizer deluxe bed kit, great idea!!
I think I’d have to figure out a way to tidy up the bed cover. 🤣
Perfect !!!
That is badass
Nice one!
man thats nice i have to build me of thoses
Awesome!!
Helpful
Question, my husband has started doing Hotshot. How do you stay cool in the summer? Great tip on the bed, thank you
Freaking awesome 👏
Next time you cut foam....use an electric turkey knife. Learn that from a upolstry lady I worked for. She's been doin that for over 20yrs that way. It cuts amazingly easy and clean.
Will definitely try that next time! 👍👍
Same thing that i did for my ram. I cut mine in half and joined it together with hinges so that it would fold when I store it in my garage.
I’ve thought of a hinged bed platform. I may mess with that if I need a design change with the Ram if I ever end up with one. 👍👍
Hey so when u sleep in the truck, do you let the truck just run? Or do you idle it up?
Tdubya813 I just let it run. This thing does so many regens while it’s running it’s ridiculous lol
that was actually pretty interesting setup and it was seems easy to build, but it also need a dark tint window or else someone could see you sleeping there. 😁
Haha thanks man. I’ve already got the windows situation covered too ruclips.net/video/8iV5YLOwWaQ/видео.html 👍👍
I would tint the window and have a curtain.
Nice!
just build one my self a month ago forgot to commeng but it work’s perfect i was sleeping in my seat for the longest 😂🤦🏽♂️
Put moving pad on seat then board n 1 down back off seat keep seats good
You could put a hole in the center at the top in-between the 2 x4 as a handle to help cararry it
Are those notches about 2" x 6"? Thanks, great video. About to build one of these for my ford since it can easily be removed.
I like it
Your are the truth 🙌
I’ve gained some good information from your videos. I’m making a bed like this after my first run coming up this week: I’m also doing my window coverings like in your other video. Thanks ... hope the Ford is holding up since you got the rear end done. I got the same year✌🏻
awesome man, I’m glad I could help out! There’s not much room to work with in these trucks but I’m typically either working or sleeping, so the room isn’t really an issue for me lol
Looks good .... a tip to you guys using sleeping bags on memory foam it will freeze hard as a rock at 32°so if you're going to use just the sleepin bag and not idle the truck you may not want to get the memory foam.
That’s true! Running heat in the truck throughout the day knocks it down pretty quick though. Also while you’re sleeping body heat will keep it from getting too cold. But yes if you come out to the truck after a few days off in the winter you definitely don’t want to hop on the bed right away lol
@@LoadMizer I had memory foam in mine and it don't take very long to start getting frooze and your body heat can't really keep up. Course my ex always said I was cold-blooded. Lol
Ez Money I’ll put this to the test for sure. The mattress I had in the semi worked great, we’ll see how this one dies in the pickup.
I did not know that. I was planning of throwing my bag on top- air mattress?
True‼️
Life made easy 😁😁😁😉
I SHOULD BE ABLE TO BOUNCE A QUARTER OFF THAT COMFORTER PRIVATE ! 😂
Haha I if I had a spring rack to climb under I’d get it there 🤣. Fun fact I still roll my socks though 🤣🤣
Nice set up, am a short guy, I ll definitely need a ladder or or jump into the truck once is all set up already..!!
Nah man most of us just slide across the center console between the seats. It’s way easier than trying to jump up on the bed from the back doors. 👍
@@LoadMizer yes that sounds better, where do you drive what states.? What are you pulling rite now.? Flat bed.? Car hauler.?
Dope!
Any measurements for the notches ?
i took the back seat out of my f350 not to sleep but to use as a tool crib
I just saw those oil seal caps for your trailer on I instagram man those are sweet I’ll be ordering some asap
Paul Butler havent had any issues with them. 👍👍
I did something similar to hold my tools in my Ram. The factor shelf really wasn’t built to hold that much weight.
You got that big ass Ford cab. I did this with my 04 dodge and I didn't want to cut up my mattress so I just slept on the wood lol
CP Steve Miller thats borderline homeless Steve 🤣
@@LoadMizer Don't hate, I ran out of time to figure out a solution🤣
CP Steve Miller lmao that’s awesome 👏🤣
LMFAO
I’m thinking of just sleeping in the floor, at least try it but not a good option for storage
where did you get the foam mattress? can you provide the link for that?
Wrap the plywood with marine carpet to protect the seatand make the mattress leess prone to moving.
That’s an excellent idea 👍
Sand it put some felt or other fabric on it and maybe a cushion of some sort on the top and get some more cushion.
He is pro
Do you idle for heat and A/C? I’ve heard it’s bad to idle a turbo diesel.
What are the legal measurements for cdl setup
You just saved me from having to sleep in the passenger seat. I have been trying to figure out how to sleep in the back seat instead.
Cool stuff, my son wants 1 in the back for when we go moose hunting (rutting season) this cull moon coming up September 'Harvest Moon
Most definitely doable!
Great video, new subscriber, quick question, how much did you cut on the edges to clear the pillar?
About a 2”x3” chunk and rounded the edges.
@@LoadMizer OK thanks, keep them videos coming!
I'm looking into driving hotshot too, I plan on just taking the back seat out and having a mattress custom made.
I'm only pretty much going to use it for work, and I figure I'll be in it.most of the week. I saw a guy get a ticket on another video for being 59 pounds over. If he would of had his back seat out I bet he wouldn't of got the ticket. Point is why haul a back seat around it's just less of everything else you can take along.
I'm going to make a custom permanent design with under storage on mine, a small RV fridge will be under there, a small.air compressor on one side, some tools etc. Rest of space will be for clothing and such.
I leave the back seats in because it’s a rental.
@@LoadMizer Understandable, and I was just putting that out there for people to think about.
I'm glad I did, could you elaborate on the rental you mentioned? I'm trying to figure out how to get started and coming up with truck and trailer is hard to do.
How much is the rental and can you rent a truck and trailer to get started?
I’ve been using an inflatable mattress in the back seat. It’s pretty good considering mine is a Ram 1500 with quad cab.
Does the dimensions work for a dodge ram 3500 2021?
Great video bro!! Question? Do you always sleep at a truck stop? Where is it ok to pull over and sleep? Where is it not?
Sometimes I do. Other times I use rest areas or if it’s confirmed ahead of time I’ll crash at the shipper or receiver if I need to save time. It all just depends. I used to stay at Walmart a lot but they’ve started cracking down on trucks parking overnight. I always call ahead and confirm.
@@LoadMizer Thanks for the info!!
I took the seats out..it took 10 or 15 minutes..then used the 3quater ply and it worked out great..I dont like the idea of having to move the seats all the way up wich means your moving that bed in and or having to flip it up.....I even made made my bed in the morning for appearance lol
Bill T cool deal. If I owned the truck I’d most likely have a seat less setup but if enterprise calls to swap trucks in Indiana when I hit 60k and I’m in Minnesota...I can’t exactly “swing by” Kentucky to out the seats back in before I trade out lol.
Rather than ask how tall this creator is, may I ask if this would work for a six foot 1” person?
This is my challenge with these mods. I think I need a design that angles into the front passenger seat. ☺️👍
But thanks for this fantastic video!!
Great video man, how did you go about cutting the memory foam?
I just measured and marked it then cut it with a utility knife. It cuts pretty easy 👍
Thanks boss!
Do rentals at enterprise comes with the gooseneck tow hitch ?
It comes with the rail system. You’ll have to attach your own ball hitch plate or fifth wheel.
hello friend, excellent video of the bed without taking off the seats. Is it the same for a ram 3500? Since the rear seats are slightly tilted up, any recommendations?
I had to use slightly longer legs on the Ram but it ended up sitting level.
@@LoadMizer ok, ok, I just made it myself a little higher, I put an ikea mattress on it
Slick
Never work for me, 6ft 2 inches and I Got to be able to stretch out or get leg cramps!
Me too dude.
I'm better off reclining the front seat but that's not comfy either.
So do you get in from the front or the back? And how tall are you? Thanks good video.
I slide between the seats to get in and out. I’m 6’1
My question is, is it DOT approved or do they allow that?
Idle all night or what do you have a fan or something to keep cool?
Coty waters I idle when it’s too hot or cold.
Just a heads up that material that wraps the foam mattress is a fiberglass sock, cut it outside away from everything
Great video 👌
my 99 f350 the back seat folding into a bed
Awesome!!! Do you leave the car running for a/c
Every night lol
@@LoadMizer how’s the fuel on it? Is it still the same as idle .08 cents an hour.
I finished with mine and we almost started working I only have one question, they sleep all the time with the truck on
I do unless the weather is nice
What exactly are the laws for sleeping in the backseat for hotshots is it considered a sleeper berth
It’s not legally a sleeper berth without modifications. You can sleep in the truck though. I made a video explaining it.
ruclips.net/video/L7L363DssFI/видео.html
So you can run teams in a hotshot with a DOT approved sleeper?
Ok you say its not DOT approved, so when exactly do you use it then? Sorry im new to all this and trying to learn.
It’s not approved to log sleeper berth. It’s legal to sleep in the truck you just have to log off duty. Basically you just can’t team or split log. 👍
Do you sleep with a fan or how do you do it during the summer
Depends on the temperature really. Most nights I idle though.
@LoadMizer I try that but I feel like the engine is goona breakdown sooner what fan do u have ??
Do you run the truck the whole time your out like a big truck or do you think some sort of generator setup would work?
I try to keep it turned off as much as I can but I idle it when I’m sleeping. It runs almost all day during the summer though. Just really depends on where I’m at and what I’m doing. A generator would come in handy for sure. Would save on fuel quite a bit. 👍
Load Mizer yeah been trying to find a small AC unit that my Gen could run and fit in the truck and run the exhaust outside... then get a couple of different carbon monoxide detectors for inside the cab ... I’ve seen it done in big trucks.... the AC size is the problem
Jason's Outdoor Channel yeah man the crazy thing is getting one small enough but it seems like the tiny ones that are made for that are insanely priced. Seems like they try to trap the market like that. Just like the factory fridge in my semi was over $700 new. I can buy an 18 cubic foot fridge for a house cheaper than that! Lol
Load Mizer yeah you right definitely price gouging ... seems like you could rig something up..... ima keep researching. You doing some great video’s man thanks for everything!
Jason's Outdoor Channel I appreciate that man. Unfortunately in my situation I don’t really have to worry about truck longevity and reliability since I use the enterprise program and get a new truck every 60k. I’d be doing a few things a lot differently if that was the case. 👍
Do you or can you idle the truck ? I have a 2021 dodge ram 2500 or any advice its too hot
I idle pretty much every night I’m out unless the outside temp is perfect (spring/fall). I’ve heard it’s not good for the dpf system but I’ve been driving trucks with dpf systems on them since they became mandatory and have never had any issues minus a doser injector or 2. Same guys setup a generator and portable a/c as a substitute for idling the truck.
@@LoadMizer thanks for the info brother. Be safe out there
Great if you are under 5'2".
Nice setup but beign otr is hard enough as it is, a semi truck isnt much more expensive with the prices of diesel pick up these days
Do you have a link to enterprise rental for your truck?
I do but I’ve been asked by enterprise not to send any new entrants their way until the truck order situation gets under control. Last I heard it’ll be sometime this winter.
@@LoadMizer
Then is there another company you can refer me too? I think leasing might be a better option right now than buying.
Are you CDL with enterprise? If I get enterprise truck how do i get 35k sticker?
Yes I am. You’ll need to check with your state first because there are a couple that won’t let you register. But all you’ll need is front and back copy of the title from enterprise and you’ll just register it in your name for apportioned plates and when you turn the truck in you’ll just mail back the plate and registration or transfer to the new truck. It’s actually pretty easy once you figure out the process.
I removed those seats for a better space😎👍
I know it’s an Enterprise rental but do you prefer Fords over Rams?
For this job, yes I do. The fords are set up better in every way for hotshot compared to the rams
@@LoadMizer Thanks! I’ve learned so much from all of your videos. How do you feel about an F350 single rear wheel as personal everyday vehicle/hotshot rig?
Is that d.o.t approved tho? I know there are some set must be's but not sure what they are.
Not for sleeper berth, you can log off duty though. Just can’t team or split log
@@LoadMizer so if your stopped you can sleep there and reset hours? I'm getting ready start hotshoting local/regional. I was o/o tractor trailer for 12 years. Back seat I could drive 11hrs sleep parked for 10hrs and then drive again? But wife couldn't sleep while I drive then drive?
What about the air situation for night time?
I idle every single night year round
@@LoadMizer what does that mean? I'm curious. New to all of this..
I leave the truck running and just set the air to whatever is comfortable 👍
