  • I run through how I set up my bed in my hotshot truck! Easy platform with 3/4" plywood, memory foam twin matress and rear seats still installed! This is not a DOT approved sleeper setup, split logging and teams cannot use this for legal breaks in that aspect! I have linked a video referring to those rules.

      I'm not a trucker, but I live out west between two different states and often make the 10hr drive back and forth.
      One time my roommate, a pretty sheltered dude living off his parents, was riding with me in my pickup, and it turned into a huge argument because we were both getting sleepy half way into drive - and so I said he could take the back seat because I sleep just fine in my driver's seat. As long as I have a pillow, I don't even need to recline my seat.
      He became all heated and said that there's no way he could sleep in the truck. Mind you, I have multiples of inflatable sleeping pads and pillows, sleeping bags, etc.
      He wouldn't have it, was acting like I was trying to serve him cockroaches for dinner. He thought sleeping in the truck was some crazy freaking idea and insisted that we get a motel.
      Well at the time I was still new in construction making laborers wages, and paying for college too, so there was no way I was even gonna pay $60 to split a room. So we drove to a motel, he got a room and I slept in the truck 😅

    I'm looking into driving hotshot too, I plan on just taking the back seat out and having a mattress custom made.
    I'm only pretty much going to use it for work, and I figure I'll be in it.most of the week. I saw a guy get a ticket on another video for being 59 pounds over. If he would of had his back seat out I bet he wouldn't of got the ticket. Point is why haul a back seat around it's just less of everything else you can take along.
    I'm going to make a custom permanent design with under storage on mine, a small RV fridge will be under there, a small.air compressor on one side, some tools etc. Rest of space will be for clothing and such.

    • @LoadMizer

      It’s not legally a sleeper berth without modifications. You can sleep in the truck though. I made a video explaining it.

    Do you run the truck the whole time your out like a big truck or do you think some sort of generator setup would work?

    • @LoadMizer
      @LoadMizer  3 года назад +2

      I try to keep it turned off as much as I can but I idle it when I’m sleeping. It runs almost all day during the summer though. Just really depends on where I’m at and what I’m doing. A generator would come in handy for sure. Would save on fuel quite a bit. 👍

      Load Mizer yeah been trying to find a small AC unit that my Gen could run and fit in the truck and run the exhaust outside... then get a couple of different carbon monoxide detectors for inside the cab ... I’ve seen it done in big trucks.... the AC size is the problem

      Jason's Outdoor Channel yeah man the crazy thing is getting one small enough but it seems like the tiny ones that are made for that are insanely priced. Jason's Outdoor Channel I appreciate that man. Unfortunately in my situation I don’t really have to worry about truck longevity and reliability since I use the enterprise program and get a new truck every 60k. I’d be doing a few things a lot differently if that was the case. 👍

    • @LoadMizer
      @LoadMizer  2 года назад +1

      I idle pretty much every night I’m out unless the outside temp is perfect (spring/fall). I’ve heard it’s not good for the dpf system but I’ve been driving trucks with dpf systems on them since they became mandatory and have never had any issues minus a doser injector or 2. Same guys setup a generator and portable a/c as a substitute for idling the truck.

    Are you CDL with enterprise? If I get enterprise truck how do i get 35k sticker?

    • @LoadMizer
      @LoadMizer  3 года назад +1

      Yes I am. You’ll need to check with your state first because there are a couple that won’t let you register. But all you’ll need is front and back copy of the title from enterprise and you’ll just register it in your name for apportioned plates and when you turn the truck in you’ll just mail back the plate and registration or transfer to the new truck. It’s actually pretty easy once you figure out the process.
