- There have been a lot of changes from Amazon recently on their Firestick & Fire TV streaming devices. In the latest update Amazon have added a brand new feature which includes a QR code & virtual keyboard. There are mixed opinions about this so let's take a look.

Also gives Amazon access to you phone. Just bought a mekool and sent Amazon firesticks (3 of them) too the land fill.

Wrong direction, their snooping
People are starting to drop Fire Tv devices! Fire Tv RUclipsrs are gonna have to start making videos on something else.
Now that my friend is a wrong statement. I will never leave firestick unless they block third party apps which is highly unlikely.

They're going off of Android and using their own. I believe it is called Vega.

Mouse toggle ADB is done ….we don’t know what’s next ?
I imagine anything not in the Official Amazon store will be gone by this fall. 2025 is supposed to be when they rollout their own Operating system. So i expect a cleanup is gonna start this year with most sideloaded apps removed.

When you said the keyboard doesn't have a back button, did you mean a "delete back button" or a general back button that is found on the remote, as I have a back delete button on my Samsung phone.

That's pretty cool! Until they get rid of the full screen ad thing, I've got all of mine disabled. I got some cheap Walmart google TV sticks that are actually faster and don't force ads on you!

it doesnt work on all keyboard interactions for eg the search function on the home screen to search for apps :(
Create a shortcut of the URL to your phone desktop. You can then open it from there and it'll type in fine.
Taking things I do use, like ADB and giving me stuff I will not use.
Any alternative for mouse toggle
I bought a cheap Bluetooth mouse from Amazon and connected it via "Bluetooth & other devices" in the settings menu.
It's much smoother and more responsive than the mouse toggle app and you are not restricted by any cables.
Note: Make sure that you get a B/Tooth mouse and not one of the wireless RF ones that come with a dongle.

I cancelled Prime only 2 hours ago. I never really watched Prime but had it because I had Amazon. The quality of TV and movies was always poor. I know its a matter of preference but for me, Prime is shit. Now they are starting to indroduce things to the firestick Ive had enough.
This seems to be a complete contradiction in actions. This is a great update for copying and pasting long logins with mixtures of upper case lower case and special characters. A great time saver. But they're also clamping down on the apps from unknown sources that'll use this feature. 🤷♂️
Personally I’d rather be able to permanently delete Amazon bloatware that I’ll never use like Amazon Kids etc

Don't see why I should need the use of a website to "control" my Firestick like I need to give them access to my fones contents to use it. Nah I'd just use the on-screen keyboard or better still a bluetooth keyboard.

Doesn't the fire TV app give you a keyboard for the Kindle devices? I don't use QR codes because people are using them to steal from people so watch what source the QR code comes from

There will always a workaround developed for anything to come in the future just like always. Amazon is successful because they are not dumb. They do just enough to keep regulators off their back and keep their customers happy

Once they in your phone they know everything about you... They know what your copy pasting tying and go inside your phone...

I've used Award VPN. There's no sign-up and it's completely free. You just have to go to their website and generate a PIN code, enter that on the connect screen and you'll get 6 hours of free VPN. When the PIN expires after 6 hours, just generate a new pin and you're good to go again.
Don't fall for it. Get rid of your firestick and find better alternatives.
