As I asked for a free seat at the pub, they just said "sit down and have fun with us" and the next one asked "are you German?" and when I said yes, he just answered "well, congratulations for winning, we didn't score any goal (Germany won 5-1 with the scottish goal being an own goal from Germany) and that's because our team was weak that day" and well... I was considered "one of them" for the evening. Very friendly and amazing fans. After a while the bagpipes came out and the evening got even better.

Holland/Netherlands is a great wee country, Amsterdam being my favourite city in the world 🏴🇳🇱
As a Frankfurt fan, I already had very positive experiences with scottish fans. The europaleague final is not spoken about, without mentioning how great the scottish fans were. Something about you guys is special, dont ever change. And come back any time you want.
The Tartan Army isn't about "pushing people out", it's about having a great time with EVERYONE... In France 98, we had fans from other countries travelling hundreds of miles to come and party with us, including the Dutch. Their band came and played with the pipes and drums... it was superb
To give you some perspective on the numbers in the Tartan Army, the population of Scotland is 5.4 million and there were around 200,000 Scots in Germany (that's nearly 4% of the population).
As a Scotsman I was more proud of The Tartan Army walking 20k deep than the team….and hearing them sing The Flower Of Scotland in the stadium was electric….even the none Scots knew they were experiencing something truly special
The regimental piper led the troops into battle. For a wee country the support was fantastic as usual. Boy did they enjoy the party. Proud of our lads despite the national team not doing well they showed their love of country.
There was also a scene, where a german fan brought some beer to his balcony and was cheered on by the Scottish fans, before he dropped the beer bottles safely to some fans down there. Little Edit: the scene was before the Scottish game against swiss
The scots get drunk, loud and have a good time before passing out. The english have a tendancy to get angry and violent at some point of the way. So yes, the scots here in cologne were quite funny.
The reason you didn't see German fans on the streets in Hamburg was that the Netherlands were playing Poland. In München (Munich), however, where the pictures in the video are from, Germany was playing Scotland in the opening match of the EURO 24. The football fans travel with their teams to the cities their next game is played. So after Munich, the Tartan Army went to Köln (Cologne) for their second match and then to Stuttgart for their third match- and sadly back to Alba (Scotland) afterwards.
There was a great scene where a German couple were coming out of the town hall after getting married (a rare honour only happens a few times a year) and were met by 5000 Scots singing songs and a full pipe band! I bet they will visit Scotland many times.

@@janekmundt579 You are right, if you say Kneipe but the only thing we would call a pub is a classic Irish pub, otherwise we would use a different wording. The concept of a sports bar is anglosaxon in it’s origins, even if we have them too. I don’t think you know what the word ‚disrespectful‘ means. I did not insult or disrespect anything. Have you ever been to the US and visited one of their pubs or restaurants? It’s vastly different. They have screen in every room and angle, even in good restaurants. Charlie Euro Cup is the same exact format of the World Cup,Copa de America, Asia Cup round Robin consisting of 4 teams each, the first 2 advance automatically and some of the 3rd seated advance also. At this stage it's like the Super Bowl head to head winner moves on loser goes home
6:47 The UEFA is no league its just the European Football association. What we have now is the Euro cup which comes along ever four years, just as the world cup does. In the Euro cup you start out with Groups A to F which four national teams per group. Each teams plays each of the other teams in its group after which the top two of each go on into the knockout stages together with a number of the best third placed teams from the groups overall. In the knockout stages you start with the eighth final or round of 16 the winners of which progress into the quarter finals which the loosers go home. From the quarter finals the winners go into the semi finals or round of four the winners of which go into the final to determine which team is the best and second best in Europe while the loosers of the semi finals play each other for third place. That's basically it.
You can add that in order to participate in this championship there is a series of qualifying groups played where only the top 2 teams from each group get to participate, these championships are made up of the elite countries in Europe.
I know in the French World Cup, at least a couple of Scottish Fans tried to start trouble but were promptly sat on/kept down by the rest of the Scottish Fans until; they'd calmed down.
Same in Manchester many years ago. One twat started a racist chant. He very quickly regretted it. Self policing right enough. The station porter made about a zillion quid for that. Poor guy was terrified, but was quickly reassured that he was safe.

@@robertross1903 I'm not speaking hate pal, I was wandering a question and for as for me personally, I don't hate anyone but I do dislike the England football fans, that's where you'll find Hate and and aggressive behaviour, especially towards Scotland team and fans and i can assure you, there's many in the north of England that take part in that too but that's part of the rivalry between Scotland and England. I think you'd have a difficult job convincing the millions from both countries to think differently.
The Scottish footballers right up to the 1970s were very good. What happened after that is that the sport became hugely commercialised and professional, and Scottish clubs simply did not have the cash that clubs elsewhere did. That's when the glory days of Scottish football started fading.
The gang culture in scotland didn’t help. 80’s/90’s/00’s places like glasgow were literal war zones with young teams battling each other. Thats what i blame on our lack of players, I’ve personally played alongside some really skillfull players when i was younger who went down the oath of getting MWI every weekend and getting into bother
Theres a similar tournament right now in the US. The "Copa America". Teams from South Amerca, Central America and North America are competing. Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, USA, Canada and more. Check it out.
In reality, our colour is Sky Blue, but we'd do dark because old dyed flags would bleach in the sun (unbelievably) far too quick. The flag is literally clouds in the sky. People will say "no, it's a cross" but it was seen and chosen as clouds in the sky
If our teams especially football had the heart of our ancestors they would bleed and die on the field trying to win. At least we can be proud of our Rugby
Great Reaction Charlie but NO NEED to watch "UEFA". FOR COUNTRIES like Scotland, the USA, etc there is The WORLD CUP held every 4 years, and in 2026 it is in the USA/Canada/Mexico. Also for individual Nations, we have the EUROS which are The European Championships, also, held every 4 years so 2024/2028 etc. They are held in one Country for all the Countries that qualified over the previous 2 seasons. The South Americans have an equivalent event. FOR CLUB TEAMS in Europe, all have their own leagues, and anyone of any Nationality can sign for and play, exclusively, for any Club like Barcelona/Real Madrid/Liverpool, etc). The best teams play, the following season in The UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE to decide the best CLUB side in Europe.
When wee win our independence I hope the 200.000 fans who seemingly travelled over are as passionate about getting there country back as they are there football and vote correctly 🙏
@@sidgibson5414you do know that in an independent country that you can still vote for the political party you want. And that the Greens and Alba are pro-independence parties... she didn't say vote SNP.
UEFA is simple - all European countries play each other in a football competion over 4 weeks, you have group matches and which result in quarter finals, semi's and the final. What could be easier.
It's been estimated that there were approx 150k Scots in Munich that day, a tiny fraction of whom actually had tickets for the game. Referee's need telling that tournaments NEED Scottish fans, and that they should be more sympathetic when making decisions that alter games 😉

„Fußballkneipen“ are a thing all over germany. That’s just plain disrespectful
They don’t have Breweries or Beer gardens. It’s a completely different culture.
The Bagpipes are also a German instrument it's called Dudelsack. In Schwaben they played it.
The tartan army are always respectful they make me proud to be a scottish person Take care 😘🏴
They brought so much happiness.
Hope you saw the 2 Scotland fans walking with the elderly person holding the umbrella over him/her
Charlie Euro Cup is the same exact format of the World Cup,Copa de America, Asia Cup round Robin consisting of 4 teams each, the first 2 advance automatically and some of the 3rd seated advance also. At this stage it's like the Super Bowl head to head winner moves on loser goes home
Shakespeare makes a mention of the Irish "woolen" pipes -- he may have misheard the Irish word "uilleann", which means elbow.
Self-policing
Same in Manchester many years ago. One twat started a racist chant. He very quickly regretted it. Self policing right enough. The station porter made about a zillion quid for that. Poor guy was terrified, but was quickly reassured that he was safe.
We didn’t push them out, we made them join us, we are friendly.
Scotland invented majority of the important technology in the world including Radar, 📺, telephones ☎️ ect, WHISKY AND IRN BRU originally from my Home town Falkirk
You're always welcome ❤
You should check the Irish fans at Euros 2016. The Irish & N.Ireland fans got the best fans award from the french government
Yes the Bagpipes are strictly Scottish, but you are correct Irish & Scots have a lot of similarities ie gaelic, celtic etc
You should check out the Scots in cologne. It's been even more impressive than the Munich one.
The part in the video where you ask if there’s subtitles…we’re singing “If you hate the fucking English clap your hands”
As a Scot living in Cumbria England i can tell you there are some lovely people here, they respect and love the Scots, they have a saying saying here "Next time the Scots come marauding South the Cumbrian boys are going to stop them on the M6 motorway and ask what they want on their sandwich's because the Cumbrians are coming with them
You should watch the national anthems before each game. The Tartan army are on another level!
as an English man i shouldn't like anything Scottish but the bagpipes are awesome and i love Scotland some awesome places to see
The part you were looking for subtitles but there weren't any, the Scotland fans were singing "If you hate the fucking English clap your hands" then we're clap 🏴
Dont spread hate pal, there are many great English lads in the far north of England and remember that part of the world WAS Scotland at one time
@@robertross1903 I'm not speaking hate pal, I was wandering a question and for as for me personally, I don't hate anyone but I do dislike the England football fans, that's where you'll find Hate and and aggressive behaviour, especially towards Scotland team and fans and i can assure you, there's many in the north of England that take part in that too but that's part of the rivalry between Scotland and England. I think you'd have a difficult job convincing the millions from both countries to think differently.
They were singing if you hate the fucking English clap your hands... that's what
Have you forgotten the Falkirk wheel already?! I just watched you doing that one earlier today ! 😆
This video was done right before the Falkirk Wheel reaction
Scotland forever ín my heart.❤️🏴❤️
Yea, even though Scotland has given mankind many inventions, our forefathers couldn't invent a good football team🏴🏴🏴🏴

Fake news mate!! Totally exaggerated!!! Everything alright at home?
@@Jimbee-s1c who is that post meant for?
In Ireland play people bagpipes, too and in USA are the bagpipes connected with Irish.
Theres a similar tournament right now in the US.
The "Copa America". Teams from South Amerca, Central America and North America are competing.
Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, USA, Canada and more. Check it out.
If you like Bagpipes try listening to a Scottish band called ( The Red Hot Chilli Pipers )
They actually drank a pub dry
There are bagpipes in Irland as well and they also have kilts.
But its the irish Version. Not the same, just similar.
No shit Sherlock 🤣🤣🤣🤣

In reality, our colour is Sky Blue, but we'd do dark because old dyed flags would bleach in the sun (unbelievably) far too quick.
The flag is literally clouds in the sky. People will say "no, it's a cross" but it was seen and chosen as clouds in the sky
Pity our team is so poor. Someone called it mediocre but we're no as good as that. 😬
Thing is we know it but still have a guid time without chucking chairs
There were roughly 100,000 fans in Germany. After they lost to Germany 5-1 (ouch) they all partied afterwards.
When will you guys move over to th EU?
We will appreciate and welcome you with open arms...
When wee win our independence
I hope the 200.000 fans who seemingly travelled over are as passionate about getting there country back as they are there football and vote correctly 🙏

If Scotland manage to qualify for the 2026 WC finals in the USA............................................get the bars stocked up !!! 😁
As a German living in Munich, I have to say the Scots can come back any time but the Dutch can stay home. Dutch fans are nasty.
The Scots are out and the Dutch not yet. I would love to see them compete together and the most sober person kicking the winning goal
The Germans loved the Scots and the sound of the Bagpipes
How UEFA works? Just watch The Godfather I and II. 😁
True…unfortunately
if I'm not totally mistaken... 5:00 it's the infamous Hofbräuhaus beer hall
It is indeed
Yup...It was a wee bit quieter when I visited it!
You got a good channel mate where in indiana are you my wife is from muncie
There are pipes in Northumberland too. They are smaller than Scottish pipes. Northumberland is a county of England that borders on to Scotland
Only 175k plus Scottish fans turned up at Munich....Check out Scottish clubs and supporters in Seville.
The Irish do have bagpipes, the the Irish instrument plays in a lower pitch, not as martial as the Scottish version.
Look up pipers in war , that'll blow you're mind and show you the bravery of men...
There were no German fans, because the Netherlands were not playing Germany, unlike Scotland who were on this day. The point of fans going is to join in with the opposition fans and have a good time. I have had many a good party before and after Scotland games in Scotland with the opposition fans.
The irish do have bag pipes too
Uilleann pipes, right? The ones you play with your ellbow?
Bagpipes are Scottish
Bagpipes were known long before they were used in Scotland
@@MikeM-n1v there's no evidence of who invented it, so it's a Scottish instrument
