When Stephen A Smith says Clemens should be banned from the HOF for pure stupidity, Bonds fits that same category. He was a clear Hall of Famer at the time he started using, and wanted that kind of recognition?? Why tarnish your career? That is the problem with the people thst think steroid users should be in. Max is finally right! His argument is spot on. I was saying the same thing years ago. Bond's statistics were hall of fame numbers prior to his extreme physical change. His numbers as a skinny Pittsburgh Pirate in the early 90's were top notch. Clemens as a Red Sox in the late 80's and early 90's are hall of fame worthy as well. To me in this argument it looked as though Stephen realized Mac's argument was on point and he jumped in at the end and made acknowledgement that he agreed and was thinking the same thing even though he didn't discuss it that way. "Mo" the Yankee (no a New York fan at all) closer very much deserves that honor and 1st ballot election. He epitomized what a closer should be and he excelled at it every year he played. Most closers are lucky to put together a hand ful a years before they are released or moved to middle relief. Rivera is the GOAT at that specific role. Congratulations to him.

Clemens had a dominant second half of the 1996 season, stuck out 20 in a game near the end of the season. He was dominant in '94. When he was healthy, he was dominant. The two things that significantly altered his stats were pitching for the Yankees (ERA went up, strikeouts down) and pitching for the Astros (ERA way down facing NL hitting, no DH). The increase in muscle mass seen in Bonds, McGwire, Bagwell, Galaraggra, Dykstra, Ortiz, and Sosa didn't happen, either.

The rules of voting for the HOF include “integrity, sportsmanship and character.” It doesn’t say to consider those for only part of a player’s career, before they became cheaters. A guy like Pete Rose fails on integrity, as well as being permanently ineligible. If people want an HOF that doesn’t instruct voters to take these factors into account, then they should try to get the rules changed, or found their own HOF. The fact that these guys aren’t coming out and blaming the few admitted cheaters, like Canseco, for ruining it for all of the clean guys indicates their guilt, in my mind. They also have a beef against MLB for cheering on the achievements they accomplished while juicing.

Max...you say all of that about the baseball dudes, but what about your boy LeBron James? I know he supposedly is hurt now, but James is doing things normal NBA players his age weren't and aren't doing now. James was playing more minutes in his 30's than in his 20's. Putting up crazy numbers, but the fan boy Lebron James Crew never questions it. Why?
Look at how much money MLB took in durring the post strike steroid era. ESPN was broadcasting the games and blowing up the highlights, while trying to act as though they were investigating the stetoid scandal.
You media guys are some of the biggest hypocrites. Everyone benefited from those guys juicing, and the scandal you created by outing them. This is just one reason why a lot of folks don't pau attention to nothing that cones from the mainstream media.
You guys love exposing folks, calling them out and putting yourselves on a pedestal, like you're righteous, but you'll never come out and expose yourselves.
For instance, we know sports are "manipulated". You won't expose it, because you are in bed with the various entities. You broadcast and promote their product, why would you. There is tons of proof, and I know you guys monitor it, that sports are manipulated to ensure certain outcomes.
So what these players did steroids. If it hadn't been that "chicks dig the long ball" era, you guys and MLB might not have recovered from the strike of 1994 and then what?
Instead of blasting these players whi helped to put money and resources in "your" pockets, you should be quiet and Thank them for damaging their bodies for a larger piece of the bigger pie ESPN, FOX, and the other broadcast parteners and sponsors enabled YOU to have after the fact.
Stop ragging on these dudes and give them a bit of enjoyment of being recognized for being pretty damn good. A lot of players did it and still sucked. The juice didn't make a guy who couldn't pitch be able to get guys out, nor a hitter who couldn't hit be able to consistantly put his bat on the ball. You guys know that. Its just everyday, in some way, the media has to say to us, we control everything, you just shut up and listen. This is the root of a lot of the idiology spewed upon us from you.
