ARod handled this interview so well...Let me paraphase "I made my case when I made my mistakes...If I don't get into the HOF I have no one to blame but myself"
He handled this interview with so much class. As flawed of a guy as he is, he’s trying to do better and this interview is proof of if
Yes he really configured his attitude and behavior. He is now a class act and should be recognized
Good ; Because You won’t
A-Roid ; Does Not Deserve to be a Hall of Famer !!!
He made the same mistake over and over again. He obviously did not learn the lesson the first time and he certainly did not learn anything from the second time.
Easy for him to say
...not sure if you watched the video.
that's exactly what A-Rod admitted to lol
He still would have been that great of a player. Honestly, I would take him over Jeter.
J. Scadoots a rod would’ve never even sniffed 500 hole runs if he never juiced
@@josephscaduto9971 did Arod ever show up when it mattered? Cause I know Jeter did
A- roid was already on the juice when he 1st came up
Facts!!! He was on the juice since the beginning
Did u listen to the vid? There's no way to prove it.
@@jacksonraisbeck1934 Yes, I did. But there is actual substantial evidence, it gets detailed by numerous first hand sources in Selina Roberts book on Alex Rodriguez.
Jose Canseco, a former teammate of Rodriguez, said in Roberts' book that he believes Rodriguez has been using steroids since high school.
"Was he on steroids in high school?" Canseco said in the book, the Daily News reported. "I think probably so. I worked out with him when he was 18. He could lift almost as much as I could."
Rodriguez put on 25 pounds of muscle between his sophomore and junior years. Former high school teammates told Roberts that A-Rod was using steroids back then.
@@amirtz3342 K, I’ll admit that’s solid evidence
been juicing since highschool for sure. max let that go right over his head.
ARod's handling of the PED/HOF conversation was perfect...his PR team probably high-fived after the interview. He admits his mistake repeatedly, and lets it be known that he would love to be in the HoF, but if he doesn't get in he's okay with it and knows its his own fault. He then refuses to be the voice of other athletes who have been accused of or proven to have taken PEDs, again saying that he can only speak for himself and that if he doesn't make it to the HOF it's because he has to lie in the bed he made. Finishing the interview by saying that three of his close friends getting in to the HOF makes him feel like a little bit of him also made it was the icing on the cake. Perfect candid responses.
A-Rod is ver smart, very media savvy.
100% agree. Arod seems more likeable here than he ever did during his career. Doesn't even make excuses like 'everyone was using, I wouldn't have done it if I didn't think I had to" (which would probably be the truth). Pretty sure with a few more years, public opinion on PED users is going to come around if guys just start being open and honest about it.
A Rod is a piece of shit but he knows how to play the media like a fiddle
wavetoyou
He's still a cheater and what's more stupid is, he didn't have to! He was probably good enough without those drugs but his self-esteem was very absent during this time! He got a great contract and believed that he must have been the greatest, even though he wasn't!
I hoping that with the excellent job his doing in the broadcast booth and his involvement in Baseball throughout the years that he can be forgiven and voted to the Hall. I couldn't agree with u more on how he answered the questions.
A-Rod actually handled this pretty well surprisingly.
hes doing his best to be honest.
@@IronMikeyT for the first time in his life--and knowing the kind of character A-Roid is he had an ulterior motive for "being honest"
I wonder if A-Rod would still say steriods shouldnt ban players from HOF, if he didn't use it?

X-RaY ViDz that’s why he said he’s the wrong person to ask dip shit
That’s a great question 👌👌👌

I dont know about you guys, but I love how honest ARod is. Legit says hes the wrong person to ask about players getting put in the HOF after being associated to PED use as he obviously wants to get in...
Ever player should be want to be get in the hall of fame LOL
SHAME on MLB.
they knew damn well who was juicing. either you give them all a chance, or lifetime ban. this has been dragged on for too long.
4:29 one of the most weirdest seconds I’ve seen on live tv or is it just me lmao
Those PED's helped save baseball
i think that's a myth. It helped baseball recover faster from the lockout, but Baseball would have come back eventually without the steroid era.
I can agree it did, but the discovery of it ruined it as well
lol🤣🤣🤣🤣
It didn't "save baseball". You listen to too much sports radio. In business if a company doesn't make more than it did the previous year it's considered a loss, even if said companies product is inferior to years previous or the market doesn't warrant the growth. PEDs made baseball a lot more lucrative for the owners and the players. It would still be around today without Sosa, bonds, McGwire etc. the fact is it would be around and have a lot more integrity. It hurt more in the long run but not for those who cashed in at the time. ESPN is complicit in all this too. Without ESPN there'd be no Sosa vs McGwire that was regurgitated ad nasium that whole year.
Tim I can attest that baseball was better to watch when everyone was on the juice. I stopped watching after they tries to "clean up" the league
A-Rod handled this really well... he was in a pretty vulnerable position here and conducted himself beautifully. Respect 👍
Very insightful and poised discussion all around. I especially admire that Arod graciously answered several questions about his own PED use and owned up to his mistakes. Max's ruminations about being able to pinpoint the time that Clemens, Bonds and Sosa started using while at the same time admitting it was not so clear cut with A-rod leads to one of two conclusions, one that Max proclaimed openly (that ARod was great before he used), and another that he kind of stifled (that Arod was using since he came into the league)
I’m not a baseball fan but this guy is obviously a legend 💯
the tom brady of baseball. the talented player who still needed to cheat to show how “great” he is
Now you guys got Stanton who is the exact same as Arod but less talented lol. He even makes the same. He hits less HR as Arod, way weaker batting average, less RBI and every bit the asshole
@@TheJester39 I'm not sure where you're getting the fact that Jeter hated him... They were rivals before he even committed to being a yank. You're a horrible fan lol dude helped the Yankees in 09' and came up clutch when he was needed.
Covfefe Hamberder
That’s interesting because I can’t stand Derek Jeter and ARod is my all time favorite player. He was the most talented player. Derek Jeter is a fake asshole that should have let the far superior shortstop take his position.
FLintxor
I never seen A Rod come up with a clutch hit ever! If you said he made one then I believe you, but personally I've seen him many, many times in a clutch situation and NEVER seen him come through or read anything that said he delivered! He was the worst in clutch plays that I've ever seen!
5:20 "A-Rod you have my vote." Smiles devilishly.
PED's turned Bonds into the Hulk. But he was already Thor before that. He was a God in almost every aspect of the game. His biggest flaw was his ego. He saw these guys transforming from Steve Rogers to Captain America and getting all this undeserved attention because of it, and he didn't think it was fair. He wanted the recognition that he felt he deserved and those one-dimensional players didn't.
It might be safe to say your a marvel fan lol

Every single person.. Every. Single. Person on this planet could take steroids right now and NOBODY would be as great at baseball as Barry Bonds. NOBODY
A-Rod is an absolute yes for me. He’s a top three hitter of all time that I’ve ever seen.
true. but he fucked up
He had been taking steroids since high school. Doubt he would have put any where near the numbers he had without Roidsz
@@soarinskies1105 u have no proof
Hell yes they should be in the HOF. Majority of the MLB was using PED's so the whole thing is stupid. Barry Bonds is the best player of all time.
that's the same stupid argument that sprinter Ben Johnson used in the 1988 Seoul Summer Olympics when he was disqualified after winning the 100 m race. "Oh Carl Lewis used them!! so did SO AND SO etc" maybe so but you were the STUPID one who got caught. When Johnson was being interviewed after the race his eyes were so yellow it looked like he had jaundice-one of the side effects of using too many steroids
"I made my case when I made my mistakes"..... Bravo A-Rod. I think people are hoping for this kind of honesty from Barry Bonds
Bonds is more likely to get in still
they werent mistakes. he knew everything he was doing.
Awesome 👏🏻 video
Hundreds and hundreds of mlb players have used peds, but only a handful have gotten caught.. And only the big name players take the blame
2:06 I love when he says you're asking the wrong person. How in the world you think he can come up with an objective answer.
Wakakak....
Yeah, definitely no bias or conflict or interest with his take on this matter.
As a 25 y/o Red Sox fan who hated A-Rod growing up, He belongs in the HOF. As does Bonds
Smart baseball fan
@@CompWin7Helper 🤝
Absolute class act. Arod should’ve been the new manager for the Yankees.
Obviously nobody has an idea of what steroids do to your talent when you are already a major league player. Yes, it adds strength, yes, it helps your durability. It does not change your eyesight, or your major league talent. Before Alex took steroids when he first came up with the Mariners and when he stopped taking them in 2013, he was already and still a generational talent. He is a Hall of Fame player and deserves to get in.
Obviously most people don't know first hand what steroids do to your ability, but Bonds is a perfect illustration from a statistical standpoint. He was an all time great player already, he started taking PEDs and had basically the 4 best offensive seasons in MLB history. The absurdity of his numbers from '01-'04 clearly show how much better steroids can make a player. Sure, they don't turn a scrub into the GOAT, but they can turn a scrub into an everyday player, an average player into an All Star, an All Star into an MVP, and Bonds shows they turn a hall of famer into a superhuman.
Exactly the reason to keep superhumans out of the hof...Rose was never superhuman but his hit record will stand for a long while. He deserves in for on field performance but he did it to himself as well.
Indeed
So here is my opinion on this:
I have a new respect for A Rod. Acknowledging your bias because of your past and understanding that you might not ever get in because of it, there is something you can respect about that.
Max makes the most sensible argument anyone can make if you let go of your bias. What were they before the PEDs, and what were they after. Any baseball fan knows for a sure fire fact that Bonds was first ballot before the ACCUSATIONS. Max was right about Clemens being really good, but a maybe before the juice. And Arod is also a hall of famer. Maybe not first ballot, but definitely second and his PED did not really change who he was, an already great player. Sosa and McGuire can kick rocks.
Bonds and A Rod would have my vote, Clemens would not.
no. cannot "respect" it though, "tolerate" is a more accurate word. The man openly lied to the entire world and tried to cheat the game. It's not bias to say that cheaters do not deserve the same if any consideration. Kick rocks all of em. Their entire careers ought to be forgotten. Undeserving any attention. Next.
@@kennyannunziato5477 agreed. Saying you cheated outright doesn’t justify your own responsibility and make it okay/candidate for the HOF. That’s not how that works. And if it does it tarnishes the validity of the HOF all together.
I wanted more out of a-rod and griffy jr in Seattle.
Nobody using PEDs should be allowed in.
As a die hard Dodgers fan i will say Bonds, Clemens and ARod belong in the HOF
He'll no
Dodgers don't claim you
If these guys would have just admitted everything from the get go, it would have blown over and they would be in the HOF right now. But because they made themselves look like villains by hiding it, everyone is still holding a grudge. That’s why ARod is getting all this love because he came out and just told the truth.
Love ??? What love , everyone hates the guy you must be a yankee fan
Great interview by Rodriguez. Was never a fan of the guy but he was honest about his assessment of Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens. He knows there is no way he makes the HOF unless those other two guys make it first. What i would like to know is what happens in about two years when David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez become eligible for the HOF.Two guys who were also linked to steriods.Do they get in?
😆... needed a good laugh this morning....
From A-Rod....Now let's hear about the betting From Pete Rose...lol...
If any of them get into the HOF there would be millions of people that wouldn't follow baseball anymore, including myself!
Then you should stop following a long time ago lol Pudge, Bagwell and Biggio used the roids lol
A rod is smart and really mature now , I like both versions of him because he’s the 🐐
Facts
They should put Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens: Pre-1998!!! And put an a asteriak post 1998!!!!
Never thought I’d see A-Rod on this show the way that Stephen A went in on him
Yeah he had to eat crow after ESPN hired a-rod for sunday night baseball. now they're best friends. interesting what kind of strange bed fellows money can bring together.
Big ups to Arod for doing this interview.. Yes I'm biased, he's my favorite player
Respect the humility of A-Rod
He just said Mo was a better centerfielder than Griffey......
6:05 i felt that 💯
Sosa n McGuire was the most amazing time baseball. Cubs vs cardinals was a beautiful rivalry
PED usage doesn't make you a better player. You can take all the PED's in the world and you'll never hit or pitch like Bonds and Clemens! These guys (and A-Rod) should be in the Hall of Fame!
It will definitely extend their careers though at the least. Dont act like theres no benefit from taking peds.
It greatly extends careers (just look at all the baseball players that are now falling apart at 35) and it enhances skills you already have. It won't turn a minor league player into an all-star, but a good player because an all-star thanks to drugs.
@kaleel clark yes, they should let them. The game was much more exciting when it wasn't against the rules. Which it wasn't when they were using. So if they weren't breaking rules why should they be punished anyway
@DoubleFailMech who was it that broke this home run record a year ago
@DoubleFailMech because i didn't i guess. And who said anything about losing viewership?
*A-Rod is saying that, because his ballet voting is coming up in a couple of years in 2022 so he can look good for the voters*
lol well ya he literally said that
2022 is so far away they won’t remember this
A-Rod should enter the hall of fame. He was already a hall of famer before he went to Texas.
I don't know the whole interview, but from this portion of the clip, Arod never once said that PED users should not be automatically barred from HOF. He only said that he cannot speak for the others, only for himself, and said that he made mistake, and if that mistake barred him from HOF, he understands and have made peace with it. He also said that he would love to see Bonds and Clemens be accepted in the HOF, but said that it was not his decision. It is in fact the anchors who made the case that Bonds should be in the HOF, and in my personal opinion, i agree with them; his pre-steroid era were case enough on its own.
A-Rod is a two-time goat. Goat as a player and an analyst.

More entertaining but that's about it
Sean Gahan no, baseball had by far more flash, popularity, and fun during that time. The home run battles, media attention everywhere. We’re lucky to even get a bit of that today

JustTooLit yup I agree ppl talking shit let me tell you something from being an Olympic assistant and coach for what country that’s for me to know only. THERE IS NO WAY I REPEAT NO WAY any Olympic athlete can be even in the TOP 10 if not 20 in the world without drugs illegal. I have witness numerous athlete and different country actually using drugs ( won’t name which ). It’s all about $ there is to much $ involve for athlete to not drugs the rewards outweighs the consequences that’s why. Country gets passes if they pay and promote the sports well enough. There are virtually no sports on this earth that the top 50 if not 100 do not drug if ppl are naive enough to believe that I’m sorry to burst their bubbles. That’s just the way it is. Athlete might drug and even they coaches doesn’t know their parents doesn’t know that’s the reality. Fame and fortune outweighs all the consequences in sports that’s why ppl don’t care it’s simple economics specially if you from countries that don’t have a lot of ressource recognition etc... I’ve seen it with my eyes several time and still seeing it. It will only get worst but what I can say is there is a shift that is going on to start talking about allowing drugs in sports . My 2 cents is it will be allowed eventually because it’s just a hypocritical witch hunt now when every coach , team , athletes know them well what’s going on. Yes some ppl don’t do drug but they don’t win they are not none they are at the bottom of the totem pole. Your favourite athlete is “cheating” YES HE/SHE is. Especially in individual sports. If ppl think nfl player are clean then shit ppl are stupid same with hockey etc.... but hey wtv float your boat

PED use got players bigger contracts, so they went for the money instead of the HOF. They shouldn't get both.
It hurt the economics of baseball. It hurt the non PED users, because they weren't on a level playing field.

Good players can become great with the right drug cocktail. There are a number of players who were outed as drug cheats and never put up the same numbers after getting caught.
