A great starting pitcher is the most important position in baseball. That’s why Schilling played and won multiple WS titles. He was much more valuable than Trevor Hoffman or any other closer that’s in HOF.
Because of bias and personal relationships, whether it’s guys they like or guys they hate. It’s why when you look at NBA all star votes, you see players giving votes for players they like but clearly don’t deserve. I mean, even just last year, more than 30% of the players voted for neither Giannis nor Lebron to be all star starters. That’s ridiculous. Over 50% thought neither AD nor Luka should be starters. On the other hand, 100% of media members voted both Giannis and Lebron to be starters. So you see, although there may be slight bias in the media, there’s not nearly as much as when players vote, this is fact.

yesterday officially solidified the baseball hof is the ultimate joke and worst of all sports, and the baseball writers are words you cant say on youtube anymore
Problem with that argument is that Schilling is a borderline case for the HOF, even without all the controversy. He had 5 good seasons. 5. The postseason is another story, he was a beast in the postseason. But I don't know that that's enough to induct a borderline candidate.
they arguably have the best hof in all of sports because of how prestigious it is. Basketball hof is a joke because of how easy it is to get in. same with football
Fact is Barry Bonds never failed a drug test. He played at the top level before and after that stuff came in. Even his last years in the league wit a messed up leg and getting walked he banged it out the park. Bonds was just the best!
That's assuming he didn't start taking the juice until 1998. He hit 40 homers in 96 and missed 40 games. The numbers start showing up league wide in 1995 when 21 players hit 30 or more home runs. In 96 there were 43 including 17 with 40 or more. 98 was the year they all started taking HGH that's just when the numbers got crazy it's likely not the start.
The whole Hall of Fame process is antiquated, players voted on by Baseball Writers is ridiculous. The people who should vote are the people in baseball, not writers who work for media outlets, let baseball judge baseball. The whole system should be changed.

Baseball the only sports where fans care about steroids. NFL got dudes testing for peds every year. 4-6 games suspension and back on the field you go making plays. Bonds is one of the Greatest hitters ever if not the Greatest hitter ever . Oh by the way a HOF outfielder . Clemons and Schilling get in to. Only dudes that I’d be hesitant to let in is Mark McGwire and A-Rod, juicing their entire career. Wish they all could get in though because MLB allowed it.
This whole situation is insane. Put someone in the HOF if you can't give the history of that time period without this player. You want to shame them for transgressions put it on their plaque. Rose/Clemons/Bonds are such a part of the record books, how can you leave them in there but not have them in the HOF? Too many borderline players have gotten in with literal legends not. Raines and Trammel are in but Bonds and Clemons are not? In what world?
“How do you do __________ and sit on a moral high ground?” This applies to so many things in so many areas. In general if someone is trying to claim the moral high ground it is because they know they don’t have any claim to it
Barry Bonds in SF was the most dominant player in any sport I have ever seen in my life. They refused to pitch to him more than half the time and especially in the playoffs. If he's NOT in the HOF then there is no HOF. Clemens also I believe had 3 Cy Youngs Before he left Boston and supposedly took HGH in Toronto.
Schilling's comments helped him more than hurt him. He was at 40% now he almost got in. His career on the field is borderline, I don't think he actually deserves it, but lesser careers have made it.

Gotta love sanctimonious Passan. If you have a vote then you can be part of the sane, rational voting pool. To give up your vote because you think the process stinks is actually the worst thing you can do.
This is what drives me nuts about the whole steroids issue. I understand being skeptical about Manny and A-Rod, but Bonds and Clemens took them in an era where it wasn't outlawed. Can't blame them.
If your gonna win a boxing match by decision but win by knockout and then they find out you loaded your glove then you still get disqualified. You don’t get to say “I was going to win anyway”.
I think baseball does a good job of having a high standard for Hall of Famers. Compared to say the Hockey Hall of Fame, I definitely prefer the high standards of Cooperstown. But to keep Bonds out is ridiculous. He was a three-time MVP before the noticeable bulk and had Willie Mays type stats. He'd be a first-ballot guy just off of those 10 seasons. He needs to get in
You people overlook the fact Sosa continued to play years after players started being tested and he still hit many homers despite his age, a starting way less games. Time in which he never tested positive.
They need a young commissioner or a open minded commissioner that have open dialogue to bring young viewers in and maybe to change the all star game. For example: a SKILLS CHALLENGE for the all-star game. - longest arm (top 6 outfield players) - accurate arm (top 6 outfield players) - fastest guy around the bases (top 6 most stolen bases players) - fastest double play timed ( top 6 infield players) Theses things should be implemented by the MLB but won’t
Can we stop with the Bonds was a hall of famer before steroids but Clemens wasn't. Clemens had almost 200 wins by age 32. About the same as Greg Maddux. Clemens was a hall of fame worthy before steroids.
First of all, if they allowed players who did the same things as the players who they are leaving out, then, yes, the players who are out should be in the HOF. However, my point of view is that any player who is racist, homophobic, who cheated etc... should NOT be in the hall of fame. People always bring up that what they did ON the field is enough to get them in but it doesn't end there. When you're a professional athlete for one of the 4 major sports, you also have a platform and a LOT of people look at what you do and say whether they like it or not. It's about your character and being decent as well. So, if you cheated or you're racist or homophobic, that MATTERS TOO. Think about it, if you're a professional athlete, KIDS look up to you so the stuff you do and say MATTERS and also, you're supposed to represent your team and the league in a good way which doesn't include cheating, racism, being homophobic etc... Can you imagine if Lebron James, Steph Curry, Patrick Mahomes, Tom Brady, etc... were RACIST, HOMOPHOBIC, OR CHEATERS??!!!!! Just think about the examples they are placing for the MILLIONS of kids who look up to them and how they're representing their teammates, teams and their leagues. The HOF is designed to recognize the BEST which INCLUDES ON THE FIELD AND OFF THE FIELD. PERIOD.
@Dontae James Players like Barry Bonds were accused of CHEATING!! So, based on your logic where you only care about ON the field, the fact that he is cheating is affecting the outcome of the games. Second of all, the OFF the field does matter. Especially now when all 4 major sports basically have ZERO tolerance for racism, being homophobic, cheating etc... So, I've seen broadcasters, coaches and owners being KICKED out of leagues because they were racist. You need to understand that you're character matters because MILLIONS of people will stop patronizing your sport if you are racist or homophobic AND it will affect sponsors and endorsements. If you don't believe me,, look what happened with the Washington Redskins and their racist name. A group of companies who do business with them were threatening to cut ties if they didn't change the name and the team would have lost at least 600 million dollars if they didn't change it. And guess what, they changed it!!! IT AFFECTS THE TEAM'S MONEY WHICH IS HIGHLY IMPORTANT DON'T YOU THINK??!!! Also, the kids matter. MILLIONS of kids look up to these athletes, so if they are displaying horrible character, think about the example they are placing for the next generation. Lebron James and other athletes have always said how important it is to pave the way for the next generation so the example of your character does matter. Also, as an athlete, you're supposed to grow the sport, represent your teammates, team and the sport with class and carry on the legacy of the sport for the greats that came before you and for future generations so that INCLUDES YOUR CHARACTER. When they are deciding who to induct in the HOF, they think about ALL of these things because they MATTER whether you want to acknowledge it or not.
@Dontae James I am telling you that those people shouldn't be in the HOF. I explained to you why. If there is already those kinds of players in the HOF, then, fine, let the other guys in as well but I am telling you that ALL of those guys SHOULDN'T be in the HOF. Guys who represented their sport with class are guys like Mahomes, Rodgers, Curry, Lebron James etc... These guys will DESERVE to be in the HOF. That's the difference.
I disagree with their views on Curt's character, but 100% correct. I disagree with a large portion of Steven As political and moral views, but if he played any sport like Curt did, he should be in the hall of fame.
A-Rod ia one of the most known steroids users so he is definitely not gonna get in for a while & even ortiz has had some rumors & history with PEDs (I'm not as familiar with Ortiz's history so I can't say for sure) & that is to add on to the fact that a significant segment of the HOF voters already wouldn't let him him just because he served mainly as a DH.
Mountain Landis also banned women during a time when a woman had a solid chance of making it, the history of the world could have changed for the better if Jackie Mitchell had made it.
Mike Piazza, Harold Baines and Barry Larkin being in the HOF but not Barry Bonds makes the institution a joke. And Roger Clemens deserves to be in too. John Rocker used steroids (and it was real obvious) but dude was still a major scrub. What Clemens did Toronto, what he did to the Mariners in 2000, what he did with the Astros - that's talent that cant be denied. Man knew how to pitch.
This show has three great ppl on this show. After most debates I’m left feeling disappointed. The way they treat each other sometimes is horrible. SAS seems that it is ok to talk down to Max.
who would want to introduce Schilling at the Cooperstown ceremony? he's burned a lot of bridges since his MLB career ended. how decisive would his speech been? does the town really need this hassle, and how much is Bonds and Clemens a factor as well with their superior numbers?
you can have history in the HoF w/o honoring players that don't deserve it. how about instead of immortalizing someone like Bonds, put in an explanation as to why he wasn't honored. also, i don't want to hear reasons for guys like Bonds belonging in the HoF until Rose is honored. Rose did absolutely nothing wrong as a player. if he can't be honored for his time as a player, i don't want arguments as to why guys like Bonds should be
The "the HOF is a museum" argument is a really stupid one. If that's the case, then why do we have voting to begin with? Why do we have gatekeepers who decide who goes into this "museum"? Just put everyone in. If it's to tell the history of the game, you should be putting in Rick Porcello and Bret Lawrie when they're retired.
Now if you see the differences from mid 80's on the Pirates, till this video of him on the Giants '93-95, not much on a bulk build up, normal weight gain progression. He play 21 seasons, expected to bulk up eventually... I went in the US Navy bootcamp 5'10 1/2" 120 lbs.. they beefed me up on simple starchy hit Carb diet. I went from 120-155 in 8 weeks! Guys & Dolls, that's a 30 lb weight gain in just 8 weeks! Barry bulked up over a 21 season/year career! And the proof is in the puddin'... he was tested several times, most being random & unannounced, and he NEVER tested positive! Put him in the God-damned HOF already! He came 65 hits shy of 3000! 2935! Only 762 of those were HR's! And 176 was with the Pittsburgh Pirates from 86-92! And on top of his hitting, he is the recipient of 8 golden gloves! Only one player above him, Roberto Alomar with 10! Please tell me he doesn't deserve it? And I'll sell ya the Brooklyn bridge... But let's investigate the notion that if he was slipped something, not of his knowledge, it can happen. When I was a teen, I was finally invited to help decorate for our HS Homecoming float. When I was driving home, I got into an accident. When I had bloodwork done at the hospital, they found Barbiturates in my system, downers! I know, with my right hand to our Creator, I never took anything willingly. trust & believe Barry when we said the same... but even being tested several times, he still NEVER tested positive! @/bondshof

A great starting pitcher is the most important position in baseball. That’s why Schilling played and won multiple WS titles. He was much more valuable than Trevor Hoffman or any other closer that’s in HOF.
*Imagine if Scott Rolen goes in before Schilling, Bonds, AND Clemens in 2022!*
Wouldn't they be off the ballet? Theres a 10 year eligibility max
@@keynanvarnado7592 The Veterans Committee can vote them in every two years if not after the 10th and final ballot in 2022.
Ortiz and Arod will be if the sh..hits the fan.
I never got that NO players in any HOF can pick whose a HOF, how can a media guy tell me that someone is HOF when players disagree or vice versa
@@back2back379 I’m talking about voting for HOF. I would think the other HOFers would take it more seriously to become apart of them.
@@qdub6581 I understand that you’re talking about HOF, and I’m talking about biases players display when voting for each other.

yesterday officially solidified the baseball hof is the ultimate joke and worst of all sports, and the baseball writers are words you cant say on youtube anymore
Problem with that argument is that Schilling is a borderline case for the HOF, even without all the controversy.
He had 5 good seasons. 5.
The postseason is another story, he was a beast in the postseason. But I don't know that that's enough to induct a borderline candidate.
It's the only one that matters. That's why people care.

Fact is Barry Bonds never failed a drug test. He played at the top level before and after that stuff came in. Even his last years in the league wit a messed up leg and getting walked he banged it out the park. Bonds was just the best!
I think he did actually fail three years no? And the MLB kept it on the low until the whole story broke and they HAD to release the info

Sammy sosa was a 30 30 guy 5 straight years before he was on the juice maybe he wouldn’t have had 650 hrs but definitely 500
Don’t forget about the corked bat. Who knows how long he was using that for.

In general if someone is trying to claim the moral high ground it is because they know they don’t have any claim to it
Jeff Passan has vinyl copies of wu-tang, rage against the machine and radio head. Plus the snes, you sir are a legend
Pete Rose deserves to be in!
I also think there is no Hall of Fame because the all-time hits leader, Pete Rose is not in as well.
Omar Vizquel has the highest fielding percentage in MLB history for a shortstop. Put him in the Hall of Fame now!

Barry Bonds has to die to get in ? Bonds isn’t dead
Schilling's comments helped him more than hurt him. He was at 40% now he almost got in. His career on the field is borderline, I don't think he actually deserves it, but lesser careers have made it.

The baseball HOF is a joke if Pete Rose, Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens aren’t in. Absolutely ridiculous.
It's a crime and hypocritical
He needs to get in
I want to hear what Elmo thinks about the Hall of Fame
MLB Should Be Ashamed Of Themselves
You people overlook the fact Sosa continued to play years after players started being tested and he still hit many homers despite his age, a starting way less games. Time in which he never tested positive.
They need a young commissioner or a open minded commissioner that have open dialogue to bring young viewers in and maybe to change the all star game. For example: a SKILLS CHALLENGE for the all-star game.
- longest arm (top 6 outfield players)
- accurate arm (top 6 outfield players)
- fastest guy around the bases (top 6 most stolen bases players)
- fastest double play timed ( top 6 infield players)
Theses things should be implemented by the MLB but won’t
No one likes skill challenges
Can we stop with the Bonds was a hall of famer before steroids but Clemens wasn't.
Clemens had almost 200 wins by age 32. About the same as Greg Maddux.
Clemens was a hall of fame worthy before steroids.
All three of them should be in especially schillings and bonds
Barry Bonds has never failed a drug test. He also is clearly the greatest baseball player to walk this earth.

I disagree with their views on Curt's character, but 100% correct. I disagree with a large portion of Steven As political and moral views, but if he played any sport like Curt did, he should be in the hall of fame.
What did molly mean in the beginning of the video?
Clemens,Schilling, and bonds aren’t getting in next year sadly cuz Big papi & A-Rod are eligible to be voted in
A-Rod ia one of the most known steroids users so he is definitely not gonna get in for a while & even ortiz has had some rumors & history with PEDs (I'm not as familiar with Ortiz's history so I can't say for sure) & that is to add on to the fact that a significant segment of the HOF voters already wouldn't let him him just because he served mainly as a DH.
And Papi will get in smfh
2002 Barry Bonds is probably the best player who ever played and I never seen a hitter who carried a team so much to win a world series.
Max didn't propose a new way to vote lol, he just argued for and against some of the guys on the ballot.
Mountain Landis also banned women during a time when a woman had a solid chance of making it, the history of the world could have changed for the better if Jackie Mitchell had made it.
I don’t care what anyone says Barry Bonds would see one good pitch in a game and that one pitch he would destroy it the guy was amazing
SAS seems that it is ok to talk down to Max.

you can have history in the HoF w/o honoring players that don't deserve it. how about instead of immortalizing someone like Bonds, put in an explanation as to why he wasn't honored. also, i don't want to hear reasons for guys like Bonds belonging in the HoF until Rose is honored.
