Just here to say I told you guys this would happen in a previous video because y’all doubted Kendrick would be able to do this in this manner. Y’all were wrong. I told you. And I’m glad to be here to celebrate the I told you moment.
@@abdulclutch4509 you sound crazy showing up 9 days after this post with a comment like this. But I do want the digital equivalent of a cookie for having done this, yes. That’s why I posted it. Duh! And I assume you want that too, which is why you posted this snarky ass comment. Sooooo Congrats. You get yours. You don’t wanna read my comments no more? Okay!
"Damn" was the best-selling album of 2017. It outsold Drake's "More Life" the year both dropped. While K-dot doesn't consistently put out 'pop hits,' for lack of a better term, like Drake, he's no slouch when it comes to sales, popularity, and crossover appeal. As long as Kendrick's next record is more accessible than Mr. Morale it will be very successful. However, they are right that if he drops an album within the next 6 to 9 months, it will do gangbusters.
Drake is number 1 in what? Definitely not hip hop. The fact that rap was mentioned throughout this conversation and not hip hop tells me all I needed to know. Please remember that rap is not hip hop and rappers are not MC's. Kendrick was highlighting that throughout this beef. We all like Ghost written BBL Drizzy ditties, but if he comes back trying to be tough and misogynistic again.... 😗
I wanna know what homie means by Drake being number one? If they mean by sales and popularity, yes that is most likely still true. But it was very clear that Kendrick was on another level lyrically. Yes Drake was rapping at a high level as well, but not Pulitzer level 😳
There was a woman beaten that night, but it wasn't Kendrick's wife. We also don't know that it was Kendrick who did it. The woman was decribed to have bloody scalp and facial contusions equivalent to a post UFC fight. That would take atleast a month to resolve. Whitney was photographed the morning after with a completely normal face.
This beef has definitely affected Drake’s career in a negative way for the long term. The curtains were opened and a lot of us who weren’t particularly paying close attention are now seeing Drake for who he is. Aubrey is an actor who perfected the biggest acting role of his career by embodying a rapper’s persona as Drake. And this is just a little part of what has been exposed.
Ironically the first rapper to put unflattering pictures up on screen at a concert was Jay Z. Summer Jam 2001, when he was beefin with Prodigy of Mobb Deep. Drake may continue to make Pop hits but Hip-Hop will never look at him the same. You can't wear the crown in Hip-Hop after losing two battles no matter how much commercial success you have. The Meek beef was him going against someone in a lower class. Meek was never known as lyrical and wasn't a rap battler.
Yall do you know Kendrick has the most profitable world tour for a rap artist? Not Drake, but Kendrick. Do some research if you’re going to put the NYT logo on the screen, someone might suspect you as being journalist
5:23 (Joe Coscarelli): "The main thing is that nobody else is ready for it to end because it has been amazing business for everyone..." *Exactly* why I strongly feel that this kerfuffle is a calculated marketing ploy. The Kendrick-Drake feud is the Barbenheimer of rap beefs. Well played to those in collusion.

To be fair More Life wasn’t marketed as an album but yeah your point stands

White dudes have some blind spots and white biases.
"The audience not dumb
Shape the stories how you want.
Hey, [Popcast], they're not slow."
EVERYONE knows what “Not Like Us” is about… 😂
“Can I sleep?” Joe acting like he was losing sleep following the beef when all his takes are so clueless.

Dry hip hop spell while Kendrick was on break

Right. For all we know, it was a woman with one of Kdot’s guys

“When you put it like that…” 😂
There was a shooting outside Drake’s house. Maybe it’s my Canadian bias, but that feels out of the ordinary and worth mentioning.

If it's true you think they'd be smarter about the dirt they're throwing at each other.
Best podcast ever ❤
Very mature and insightful thoughts
Are they keeping you chained to those chairs? Do they know Jon has a book to finish? Joe already finished his book, let him host with a guest maybe.
Wesley Morris is in the building, isn't he? Get him in the studio.
Drake is not Rap and that's the Fucking problem stop listening to our music if you can't tell the difference
I am ready to let this go hahahaha. I just want a new Kendrick album that's fun
