XD great video my dude, a couple of the things you were disliking are understandable, i had similar concerns but I have mine at level 21 and these get relieved as with the 10% rate of fire with the doctrine they do basically snap shot and I noticed you were not activating the baton bolts this also makes them shoot faster, whether intended or not idk but they absolutely turn into machine guns and rip apart a hero in an instant, the bugginess of them locking on and beginning to fire after playing with them now for a bit XV rapidly in the direction you want them to shoot and they lock right on I use the f2 formation with no shield out pretty much ever and is also a nice baiting tool because the opponent thinks you are defenseless and then immediately regret approaching them lol tercios were my favorite unit previous to these and I now just use both of them in conjunction and cycle them throughout the battle, these guys though oh man you are going to love them once you get them up a bit more I got 7 hero kills with them in 30 seconds in a field battle today haha
HandBananaPvP have them too, a bit slugish like they are going on beer, sometimes shoot sometimes don’t, makes me smile somtimes. When i first unlock them vas so confident now you will se, put them in f2 formation and lughin on opponent but they dont fire, it ended me and them bing kiled. So now i often stay in front of them and faced back to enemy looking are they shooting, they are just like drunk sometimes hhahahaha.
@@HandBananaPvP also if ranged units are around I like doing F2 then V so they keep the formation and keep shields up while attacking. That way it isnt only half attacking. :)
Heya evo, i think part of the misunderstanding concerning the unit is that it seems that formations affect the stats of the unit itself. These stats have been posted here and there and it seems to be true from what i played. Loose formation shields on back =100% fire rate 80 range and able to hit more than 1 unit per bolt. Lose formation shields in front = 80% fire rate, 80 range, no over penetration. Shield formation shield on back = 100% fire rate, 60 range, overpenetration, and tighter shot groupings. Shield formation shields in front = 30%ish fire rate, no over pen, and 50 range. Range in shield formations might be bugged not sure but thats how it stands right now. You can shoot far further than what is shown in blue and accurately hit enemies. Blunt bolts ie ability 3 was glitched in the video you saw they fire at a normal rate but decrease whatever they hits armor by 250 and do blunt damage. Pravise are anti cav and anti golden unit at max they get 30% additional damage vs cav and hit multiple cav per shot while also knocking cav out of charge. Maxed they hit around 3500x2 per shot on monas. Defense wise they are in the same ballpark as tercios at max (around 6500 hp with similar def). Best use cases are staying at range to take out muskets, cav, and blobs of units. Switching to shields should only be done if you are actively taking fire from enemies. They should also be used in a well coordinated group.
Interesting stats, certainly backs up what I thought with using shields on and shields off, I have been trying to generally use them without shields when they are safe to do so, More surprised about range difference between tight & scattered formation (without shields) but does sort of make sense I suppose :)
Ok after 6 months I am shocked I am the only person who will say Wow to @Fernando Olazabal for writing so many facts etc I personally think he deserves more credit Also want to say love the vids Evo keep it up mate and to everyone let’s try and get to 15k
The best way to use this unit is to deploy them in tight formation and then hit "V". The formation stays tight but all the bowmen take out their bows and start shooting with the shield up.
It has to be one of the most op units second only to the Falconetti. Pavise melts anything and everything and is tough to boot with its high heath as well as shield bash. It can be used in any situation and unlike gunpowder units, it is not affected by rain. The only reason Falconetti is higher is due to its ability to wipe out shield walls instantly, even if it is raining.
Yo evo! I managed to get my pavise to lvl 25 and let's just say this unit will be the bane of rattans not only rattans anything that is foolish enough to get in it's face. Yes i agree with some of your points regarding their formations and their optimal range but once you get a feel for them they really do destroy anything in their pass. Don't forget they also stagger and since i finished the top line they also have a chance to stun with batton bolts. This unit is also best played in a team scenario because their shields are not that great and it's best that if you have them covered by a shield wall and also when you press v in line formation they tend to fire in the loose formation for some reason. Anyways great content as always looking forward for your next video!
i remember a video of them during testing and they are strangely one of the best hard counters to cav, as their 3rd ability then did interrupt damage and had a insane reload speed tied with the cav changes if a cav was to charge them, they could holt them in place and dispatch them with ease, i dont know if it is changed now
Oh just you wait until more people get their hands on the pavise, since that will be all you will see to the point where you get to a point where you wont have enough melee shields since half the team decided to go pavise.
Yesterday I ran into a unit standing in line with sheilds up and Glaive hero behind. As Shortsword I was interested in what damage the Ulti Thunderstrike III would do to them when hit head on. Simple answer is that ulti did zero damage, zero breakup of line. No reaction whatsoever :). Now it would be really interesting to see what other heroes ultis and especially Cav charges do in damage and if these break the line.
So I have a friend who has been playing them and noticed a few things bugged with their tighter formation as it slows down their rate of fire. And if they have their shields out in front of them, it keeps their rate of fire reduced. Suggested you play them in loose formation and avoid the shields out unless you get shot at
Hey a new thing came out with the unit challenges. "If you've already used Honour to unlock this unit, then the reward will be changed to: 22 Pavise Crossbowman's Kits, 5 Pavise Crossbow Unit Medals, and +1 capacity. That 1 capacity means you can have 23 right? And does that mean it is the only way to get 23 is to buy it first then do the challenge?
just got started with QonQ Blade ... looking into what units suit me and my playstyl .. as a tanky player I think this unit will do nicely , although I think longbows and their range are nice aswell .. sadly cant play any of them yet , still grinding my Sarg's Spears atm

hey evo i got a question : why dont u just tell your unit to follow you with C instead of telling them to hold every few metres with X? are they running faster if u tell them to hold along the way cause i thought that double tapping C is the fastest way or do u just prefer to do it that way? great video as always keep em coming
When you tell units to follow you, they break formation and usually run about everywhere while trying to follow you making them into a congo line extremely easy to pick off. Most units are absolute morons when you tell them to follow you. Also, when you tell your units to follow you, they just follow and do nothing else. I can't really explain more but ever since i've started making my units move constantly in formations they tend to die a lot less and and are much quicker to get ready for combat. For exemple,When I use prefecture pikeman, if you tell them to follow you and you see an enemy unit and ask them to charge immediatly, since they follow in a straight line and not in a formation, they will charge one by one rather then a full unit width. Most likely half your unit won't connect with the enemy and since they charge in a single file it will be a terrible charge and the unit will not be able to do what it is best at doing (in this case charging for the pikeman). On the other hand if you spam formations to move the prefecture pikeman, they will already be in a decent formation-ish grouping, so the charge you quickly initiate without waiting for them to be completely in a perfect formation, will be much better because of unit placement. Evo can probably tell you more but this is what I've learned over the 3-4 weeks of playing the game.
Yeah so double tapping 'c' does make your unit move faster but as below generally I find the pathfinding terrible and the unit just sort of turns up all over the place, if I move them with X they just sort of seem to arrive in a neat group ready to fight as soon as they arrive. This is not necessarily better than just double tapping C it's just a habit i've sort of got into more recently XD

Yeah I don't know how to feel about them. Haven't played them yet but playing against them just kinda feels eh. Every other 5* Golden era unit sends shivers down your spine when you see it. Tercios are deadeyes, rangers are the most frustrating unit the game, reapers can break any line and come out the other side still swinging. These guys? Meh. Rather ignorable as far as I've seen. They don't have the numbers or rate of fire to really pressure a wall. And they make a really poor wall themselves. The worst position I've been in is sitting my wall across from a crossbow wall and watching my Imp Spear Guards health chip down *ever* so slowly and not being able to do much about it since I didn't have back up. But as we all pretty well know, those kinds of stalemates dont last that long in CB.
I sort of get you but the more I play them the more I am starting to enjoy them more and more. They aren't as flashy as other t5 units but they do seem to rack up a pretty steady amount of kills :-)
Yeah I think that's what it is. They lack any shock and awe. They're a slow and steady, straight shooting crossbow unit. They dont have that wow factor that screams "kill this unit now". That said it still is a bit sad to see a golden era unit keel over to anything in melee. Tercios still put up at least a little bit of a fight.
How do they have penetrating shots but arquebusiers do not? They completely overshadow Tercio and Kriegsrats for me since they have much more accuracy, ammo, durability, and versatility. While the arquebusiers have armour and damage per shot they have such bad accuracy even the kriegsrats with all upgrades miss 80% of their shots past 20 meters while these pavise laserbeams are so much better with their shields that absorb much more. I find most the of the units this season have just made the strong stronger, bow heroes are super stong against these, the pikes and the cannons whilst already having been the top tier class. The same can be said for cav which can run the pavise and cannons down and make mincemeat of the swords with their dense formation.
Yeah certainly from a realism point of view you'd think a musket ball would penetrate a wooden shield! To some extent I think tercios still out dps these guys but yeah generally agree about powercreep through the season 3 units, I suspect we will end up seeing gradual s3 unit nerf and/or buffs to the older units
