  • All sorts of Sea Planes landing in Vancouver Harbor between the Lions Gate Bridge and the Iron Workers Memorial Bridge. It was so much fun to shoot this video, with airplanes landing constantly. I shot this video in about 15 minutes while on break from a convention in the center next door.

    WOW cant believe how busy it is and how close they get. The reverse pitch on the turbo props to stop at the jeti is awesome.

    #1 is a old Turbine modified Otter, #2 is a newer Twin Otter. #3 is a old and original Beaver. Pretty Nice!

    In 2007 I enjoyed a flight in in a DHC-2 Beaver floatplane from Vancouver Harbour and up around Horseshoe Bay. I had only ever flown a D20 Katana and I would have given anything to have flown up front with the pilot. Unfortunately an elderly gentleman had pushed his way to the front and insisted his tiny trophy wife must sit beside the pilot. She could barely see over the dashboard. Still, I managed to get some spectacular photos of Vancouver and the coastline. My ambition now is to fly in to the Barra beach airstrip on the Loganair DHC-6. If you haven't seen it on RUclips please look it up.

      You are a true gentleman. I am a crazed banshee when it comes to optimum window seats on an aeroplane.

    Thank you. My 4 yo is fascinated with the sea plane on Animal Crossing New Horizons and this video helped exactly to explain how sea planes work!

      It's not a lake actuialy, it is Burrard Inlet and part of the Pacific, but it looks like a lake. There used to be a half dozen floating gas stations and a lot more small boats. Just one left now.

    6:18 did those pilots just put in full speed in 1 second?!

    • @wcolby
      @wcolby  Год назад +1

      The Turbine engine is spinning a fairly constant speed, the pilot just changed the pitch of the blades to provide near instant thrust. That sound change is just the pitch of the propellor blade changing.

      Yes, you are right, but many people have videos on RUclips and don't own them. I wrote because we really like your work on the video and I hoped to promote your channel and air your videos on my online channel. My
