    Beautiful video. We don't see float planes at all here in South Africa, because of the shortage of suitable water landing facilities. My long time goal is to get a ride in a Beaver, preferably in Canada.

    I found my dream! As seen in this video ... the sound of birds, the magnificence of the landscape and the plane, in my judgment most beautiful ever created. I wake up every day with the idea, the illusion of being able to make it happen, live aviation, ambient sound, silence .. then contact the magnets, turn on, vibe alive, feel the power, the vibrations increase and then quiet, only the sound of wind and the powerful engine that shows me that indescribable freedom, nature, the DHC2 a powerful machine that rises above the horizon ... breath ... I look fly that's me saying to my interior. A big hello to the pilot of the aircraft that returned to give me that feeling, that urge to keep trying and fighting for what ... maybe someday come true. From Argentina, Buenos Aires, city of Tres Arroyos. Thank you!
Gracias!!

    In 1980 we were passengers on a 5 day bush pilot tour in British Columbia and I always remember the experience. Of course we had no recording device at that time to keep our memories, too bad to share it with others.
    However this short film without voices shows best the sound and feelings of starting and landing on lakes with a beaver in the wilderness we were. So, now we can share and refresh our memories as often we want, Thanks.

    After I had my first experience last week with C172 Seaplane in Florida, I can understand why there is a strong addiction component attached to this seaplane flying. I really loved it. Too bad that here in Germany we have almost no opportunity to do that.

    I (and my crew) took a ride in a Beaver at Cargair, North of Montreal on a weekend layover once.
    Rented a car for the weekend n headed out to find a seaplane base, found it at St Michael des Saints.
    That got me going, the next month I went to Florida & I got my ATPMES rating...!! 😁

    Curious.. you back off throttle when the pontoons break the surface on take-off. Is that about 80% to break free? Then off to 60% ish?

    Pilots learn from older pilots and duplicate the same mistakes. There is no need to reduce power just after take-off. Wait to reach 80 MPH before any power reduction This will allow you more control in case of a power failure. The engine is made to provide it, and with more RPM is less loaded after take-off, gaining speed. It is a matter of safety and competence. Most engine failures happen at take-off because they are used badly or are simply tired. If you do not have money at the bank you want cash in your pocket... -If you do not have altitude... you want speed... Altitude is money at the bank...-Speed is cash in your pocket... If you do not have any you are broke and already broken. Pilots that fly the ocean know that.

    • @yedaki76
      @yedaki76  8 лет назад

      +Jolinator Never had a spinner on any beaver I flew on floats ... maybe due to the high drag of the large engine area in the front it doesn`t really matter? (just a guess)

    • @Jolinator
      @Jolinator 8 лет назад +3

      +yedaki76 i have noticed lots of beavers in Canada on floats without spinners, there must be some secret canucks magic to it. once again amazing video, all the best from downunder!
