Hey y'all! This video took a LOT longer to publish than I thought, however, using shock troops only actually made the game pretty easy after I got 100 shock troops, so I tried to put more work on Baldric story-wise (Oh i mean Balric, sorry!)
Never thought about hurting a faction by making horrible tactical "mistakes". I usually become a mercenary for whichever faction is fighting the one I want to destroy.
Works wonders. Just spent a few days irl getting income from vlandia, before making several tactical 'mistakes' that took a lot of land and influence from derthert
Made a army of companion and horse archer from kazuit and then easily demolished armies 4 times mine in size, was pretty late came tho and i then just started executing their clan members
I thought the very same but in my playthrough there only a few moments where I lost a lot of units due to ranged, like that narrow bridge scene against an empire faction. Most archers I fought against actually had 0 kills against me, I just used a few lines of loose formation and just charged with hundreds of shock troops, but before I would usually wait behind a hill until they got close. I pretty much maxed two handed, athletics, polearm, (and a lot in one handed from tournaments) pretty quickly, so had a bunch of perks that increased HP of troops, reduces some damage taken, increases in movement speed, swing speed, damage, etc.
@@steffent.6477Javelins are the hard counter but fortunately 0 armies are made of just that so it works. Love using the Javelins against two handers in multiplayer since I’m trash
I think they nerfed Archers i remember before Archers was stron then i started to play now after maybe 5 months and Archers are weary weak now..@@Mr.Chicken

if you force the villagers to give you goods or recruits then proceed to raid them, the raid will go much faster for your quest so you can get more gold from caladog
Everyone of these bannerlord challenge videos are hilarious. I applaud you for taking your time on making these. I would love a part 2, and maybe you could do these challenges with mods like Game of Thrones and the Musket era.

I am happy that Balric didnt sell his merc service exclusively to the Sturgian. Try join Battania (And later quit again) to obtain the "Reaper" , a Falx given by Caladog. Swift like a two handed sword and pack a punch like a greataxe. Mmm what a weapon❤
The fastest method to obtain a Falx if you are not dedicated to blacksmithing. Another beautiful weapon in the game is Early Retirement (I don't know if that's what its name is in English), a possible tournament reward. It doesn't have a good cut like the falx, but it kills horses with one thrust if they charge at you.
@@samuelrussell5760 I had doubts since the translation of retirement is "Retiro", and can refer to withdrawal in Spanish. Perhaps since the company is not English speaking, there may have been a change in meaning in the translation and in fact the real name is different. It's a bit ironic yes, since if you play without blacksmithing and you get this powerful weapon, you're going to want everything but retire haha.
My favourite shock troops will always be Heroic Line Breakers, I love two handed axes and throwing weapons, and they have insane athletic skill allowing them to move scarily fast on the field
He was blinded in his left eye when he lost it due to an axe...And what about the two other scars you may ask? Well it all started when he lost one hand and had a replacement hook in it...
Nice run with a cool story! I'm playing a great bannerlord run right now with a friend, where they get to make every major decision for me, ( turns out stupid) lore wise my character is an idiot and illiterate so it makes sense. So now i have about 90 bandits vs half of Calradia
Shock troops are great on their linebreaking properties when mixed,or mass genocide when flanking.I personally favors the Linebreaker,because they got 20 more skill on the 2handed,and with the comically fast 2h axe that they got.
Man idk how people think this tactical about bannerlord. I always use legionnaires for infantry, elite Cataphracts for cav and fian champs as archers/ backup for the infantry if they’re getting kinda fucked, and sometimes getting khan guard. Then I just use the same hammer and anvil tactics, bringing my cav behind the enemies lines to kill the archers and make some of the infantry turn around, giving the fian easy kills, then crushing them between my infantry and cav while sending the fians perpendicular to get a better shot. Usually ends up with some deaths but never more than 10 if I face a same size army or slightly bigger. I try to change it up sometimes but hammer and anvil is what I’m most comfortable with
@@Chadius_Thundercockhammer and anvil is extremely effective in this game to be fair but i’d definitely recommend you try some mendavillions keep them behind the shield wall by prioritizing shields then when the enemy infantry gets close extend your line and watch them slaughter everything

U should try some sort of viking palythrough with just bandit bosses and companions, fuck with every faction then crush everything with an impenetrable shieldwall
There's just something visceral about thousands of men decked out in dozens of pounds of armor, wielding axes and heavy, chopping spears charging in line formation.
Shock troops scare me. I was defending a seige as sturgia, and I died early in the seige. We were gonna lose because it was 1500 to 500. But my heavy axemen held the line for easily like 30 mins before we ran out of other reinforcements. They killed hundreds of people. And the fact I didn’t help at all concerns me. They will f around and find out
They’re probably the best seige troop. They one hit small enemies and 2-3 tier 5 enemies compared to the 2-4 hit tier 1-3 enemies and 4-8 hits on tier 5 from non shock troops. Making just nothing get past the ladder

i like as a main shock troop the aserei mamalukes. they have probably the best all around 2h since it hits like a truck but i like to sprinkle some vlandians in since theirs is basically a swingable polearm great vs cavs
Hmm, favorite shock troop is kind of a tie for me, I like the Sturgian line breakers' heavy armor, but am quite fond of the Battanian falxmen's falxes, favorite weapon in the game.

the videos I listed has a some of that. Like use high ground for everything but cavalry & that high ground is the best for archers so always look for the high ground if you have a lot of archers. The archer video shows the best formations vs every troop type. For shield infantry Just place them in front of your archers on high ground. The archers should still be able to shoot because of high ground. Try to use less lines in a shield wall then more (never use more than 4), it will help a lot in melee vs other infantry. With shock troops just charge enemy infantry. You can have them in the same formation you have your shield infantry in and they should block most ranged projectiles to protect shock troops. But if you have enough shock troops like I did in the video, you can just charge them all and there is simply too many for the enemy stop. With mounted archers, just camp on high ground and let them fire their bows. Charging them makes them run in circles against the enemy shooting their bow, but they will miss most of their shots and the AI will screw up and they will charge directly into a spear. A better tactic is to split your horse archers in two formations, and place them in opposite sides of the enemy. Enemy infantry will not know which side to use their shield on. If you have a bunch of cavalry only fight in open maps (this depends where you fight in the world map, so never fight in the forest). Then make 2-3 lines of cavalry and charge.
As a Turk watching this, Khuzaits accepting Balric of non-Khuzait ethnicity into their empire only to get betrayed resembles a lot with the actual history.

There is just something about the Sturgian linebreakers that make them my favorite by far.
Maybe it's that the big dane-axe looks much cooler than that spear-thing the menavs have^^

Imperial Menavliaton's are my _"Go To"_ shock troops. They absolutely slaughter everything.
I prefer the line breakers because they have the toughest armor and they just fit the viking slash shock troop role

Honestly as far as I know, all the mods I use are outdated. But you can find mods on Nexus mods and see the comments on how stable they are

and then balric faced a smart human opponent with 300 khuzait khan's guards and his whole army took a nice warm arrow shower :D

something u could've done is use the My Little Warband mod to make a custom troop tree only consisting of shock troops
I used it for my previous playthrough. It does not support the beta version so I couldn't.
