Jackass dudes wouldn't need that chair, only the motor in a shopping cart and they would have fun with it :D
Anyways an interesting idea. I too have had and idea of rollator for elderly that ebike motor would be so easy to just fix it into that kind of rollator and make it go.

"Jackass dudes wouldn't need that chair", probably just a butt plug, a motor, battery, and a wheel. Scratch that.. the battery could double as the afore mentioned seat.

I think you just showed how cheaply and cost effective mobility can be. I wonder if Colin furze would take you guys up on a dodgems bout? Or go full wacky racers? In a e vehicle tournament. Around the world perhaps.

@@ThinkingandTinkering even on a small scale it definitely expands peoples options. I’ve seen many verities or mobility options from tracks to skid steer. I think we should alway greet anyone in a wheel chair as m’lord or m’lady as the must be like kings or queen to have their own mobile throne. I dwelt and dreamt of a hover throne to do just that. seeing all the Dalek comment believe you might be on the right track. The m.o.d would be interested in a personal mini tank that spins on the spot. A 3inch plate version would be awesome to see. A multi plenum design should do the trick. With converging airflow. What is they say? Start small aim big! We rod you most certainly have done that. Does that mean Canterbury will the site of the world first hover tank factory? I know Star Wars and many an RPG have aspired to it! Crazy but that’s how it goes as Ozzie once sang. Fun how one simple thing raises up such possibilities. Q branch would be proud!

I would like to make a similar kind of thing for an elderly person. They find the joystick which is fitted on commercial chairs difficult because it's both throttle and direction. Steering and throttle separately seems a far better idea. This is for a home use scooter needing a small turning circle. If anyone has any suggestions on the kind of motor which would be needed, I'd be most grateful. Scooters can be phenomenonally expensive and seeing this video makes me think it would be possible on a DIY basis. I have bicycle parts, welding machine etc and the skills to do it.

the motor I used on this was a 120W dc motor - you really need very little power to get around - the drive is a toothed belt - you would probably pay around £40 for the entire drive train, wheel and motor and could source parts for it from a scooter store online

I disagree mate to me people with disabilities are people too and sometimes people need fun - everything being 'rock solid' all the time is just plain dull and if I can say so - depressing - a simple lever to lock the rear wheels would make this a 'normal' chair - then it could be either depending on a persons mood

    • @-robo-
      @-robo- 3 года назад

@@ThinkingandTinkering As I mentioned in another comment, so long as there is a disclaimer that states "this is intended for entertainment purposes only". I am a person with disabilities (not pleased to reveal that in order to make my point) and I think I can speak for my friend and others when I say nothing is more depressing than ending up in a hospital bed. While I hope that I am smart enough to know the difference, in this I am not sure I can speak for others. As I also mentioned as, I am not trying to rain on anyone's parade, this does indeed look like a ton of fun, however there should IMHO be a modicum of caution applied. Oh yeah, thank you for acknowledging that I am people too, although some of us disabled may have found that a tad bit patronizing.
