im doing this for my mom and its gonna make her life so much better . thank you so much you have no idea how many lives you changed with this simple cheap build . electric chairs are soooo expensive and they are so slow . this is the best
Awesome 👌 im glad that it has helped and hope the mod goes great and thanks for your positive feedback 👍
You the man Cap. He was driving that thing like he stole it. You made him feel like a kid again .. stay safe my friend
lol Joey i think it was stolen because he was going fast lol
Y’all are flipping amazing! I have someone who recently become wheelchair bound, and I’m determined to do something like this for him once he’s ready. I can only imagine the possibilities this may afford. Thanks for sharing!
You can do it! for your friend and im sure that will take his mobility to another level
Having been active in a manual wheelchair, sports, trails, hand cycle, etc. for 35 years I like to see the type of innovation using everyday available scooters; the trouble with ones made specifically by wheelchair manufacturers, even adapted ones they are usually 50 percent to 90 percent more expensive; because they are classified by FDA as medical devices. Its just reality. One thing I noticed on this video is the height deck of scooter and the user bending his back to lean forward for weight distribution because his footplate is elevated about 4" it looks like. For many this will be very uncomfortable with a back injury, however, the lower the scooter deck the better. As technology allows for unique wider market devices like electric scooters, Segway style designs, etc. -- even a modified electric skateboard with a swivel front wheel and steering arm attached might work---being creative is wide open. This video and workmanship is a stable safe easy cheap method once you have the scooter. IMO if I could reduce the overall length of this to 12-15 inches housing a electric motor, and steering device to fit right under the footplate and have the steering pole come up between your legs, it may not even be visible.
Very great points Stan
Thank you👍👍
I’d buy that.
Making one of these myself. I have actually had it working but ran into the problem that he was talking about but with a rear wheel drive model like his. I wasn't getting enough weight on the drive wheel so it would just spin. I made it with a 12 volt scooter I got cheap just to have a proof of concept. Was planning on a different model later on. I have a power chair I use 99% of the time but want to get back into a car from my full size van so need to start using my manual chair but due to shoulder injuries to both its really hard on me.
@@jamesfrost5261 hey bro I get it...with respect I worked in DME business for ten years fitting SCI/adults and kids all levels to chairs and also sports chairs. Shoulder injuries are real. I understand. It's freedom and choice no doubt. Well if your like me researching all the new related devices as you mentioned skateboard you picked up. That is worth trying. I have a hand cycle that s older model and this year sometime, pending $, might buy used electric bike, pull wheel and electronics off and put either one or two rear wheels powered by electric motors. Been researching that.....then just take gears off and put some handlebars on like a bicycle. Having original skinny tires/rims also at same time would like to change them to something more durable....all good stuff good luck going forward.
The world could more people like you. Great video capt.
Thank you Captain, slowly walking more each day. Can’t wait to watch you crossing over to Bimini!
Exelent cap. Get better soon.
And can't wait for Bahamas restrictions to ease up, for now fishing in florida and installing a lot of equipment on my boat until it sinks🤣🤣😉👍
Electric Scotters have advanced since I tried this 8 years ago, will have to look at an upgrade.
Yes they have difrent models and better price now
Wow Cap. You are the master fabricator. Fast, smooth and quiet. You could build those as a kit and make a fortune. Bringing more freedom and joy to the handicap population. You are a humanitarian!

Love the project! Amazing new start up potential!
it would be but sadly someone will do it wrong and sue if you make it a business .
We love watching your helpful videos and what you are getting into next. Keep up the great work & stay safe
Thanks, will do! have a great nigh Debra👍👍
Looked like on the video @ 18:15 your friend lost his coin purse full of gold coins in the grass . The gold coins were going to be payment for such a fine job you had done . I really enjoyed this video .👍
Thank you for watching and it was a fun project 👍
Genius! A couple skateboard truck clouds threaded over those hold down bolts between star-board landing pad & bottom of wheelchair foot pad might could fill that slight void & cushion shock loads when transitioning across uneven surfaces.
very good idea Kevin that makes good improvement, thanks 👍
2nd the idea of skateboard trucks. Longboard trucks are very wide. You could bolt the base of the truck to the scooter, connect the truck to the wheelchair. It would allow the wheelchair to flex. You could adjust the tension of the truck and use firm or soft truck bushings depending on how much flex you want.
You are the Cap of DIY Engineering, love it man
Thanks Roig👍👍

Very cool you guys are gonna help a lot of people with this video
Thanks budy 👍
Dude that's awesome!
Thank you it works great
Nice conversion guys. Suggestion - Put another notch in the folding bracket so that the vertical bar matches the angle of the front of the wheelchair = better ergonomics and a sleeker asthetic. OK, I'm off to find a scooter now :)
awesome Brian thanks for the suggestion and we hope yours comes out great too. 👍
@@OutOnTheReef Thx buddy.

I’m ready for that captain let’s do it!
@@edvelz8073 See if you can talk him into it! LOL!🤣👍⚓
@@edvelz8073 is this your chair? How's it holding Up? Can't afford a proper motorised attachment but this is affordable and gives me so much freedom
@@hw5154 it’s working fine. This is my daily chair, I attach the scooter and use it. It is a great alternative. I suggest shop around for the best scooter there’s many options but not all will work
..great idea, good job...stay safe..
Thanks Bob and have a great day buddy
wow, thank you
Thanks for watching
I would install anti-tip bars in back of the wheelchair
good idea
Great video. I use a power wheelchair, and a self-propelled chair. I'm going to buy a 2 wheeled scooter, and try this. Thanks.
Awesome hope it works👍
You are a good man!. . No, a great man.
C. Watts thanks buddy is awesome to help and my friend does the same for me if i needed him.
Have a awesome night cap. 👍👍🏝
De guille brother. Exito
Muchas gracias capitan😉👍👍
awesome video what is name of the wheel chair that has the same footrest that attaches to the scooter? there are so many brands of wheelchairs on the market
No idea peter , is my friends chair
Should put a wheelie bar on for anti flip safety. Great job!
Cool idea cap.👍
This is amazing
Thank you it was me and my friend putting our brains together to make this work👍👍😉
Captain your friend is a daredevil 👏
He is a very active person 😁👍
g8 job guys thanks for sharing. can this go up
hills?
Yes, absolutely but not too incline and thanks for watching Karen👍
I do something similar to this but it’s so top heavy when i get on my scooter. I am about to release my new video of my ebike conversion of my old handcycle and it’s more stable and rips!
awesome and thanks for watching 👍
#brilliant just a shame I don't know any man that has the skills to even do this.
Very cool.
Thank you
Mis respeto dios te bendiga brother 💪💪
Gracias y saludos capitan😉👍👍
I made same concept year ago. Few things to remember:
Your arms are getting tired - lower the hand bar, like you are driving with bicycle.
Front wheel drive will "drag" left and right your rear wheel in tight corners - not a big issue.
Wear helmet
Your back is getting tired little bit after some time.
Thanks for the tip! For the back I use a thicker cushion helps sit more straight
yes that will help the back better cap.
I wonder if you could find a scooter with an angle adjustable handlebar. That would be perfect
@@THESCnando yes that would be awesome but my friend says he has a pillow to straighten up his back that will help also
Drive safe...my friend here using the rear bicycle Red light for safety .and Helmet....regards from Indonesia
Awesome cap. Thanks from USA
@@OutOnTheReef most of Indonesia Business people now watching FOX channel for US election...awesome
@@agaramelan7319 yes is creazy news here cap
Well done Guys, I'll make one soon.
thanks Susan and hope it comes out great, thanks for watching
buy from me,give you purchase price, please cntact sam@mijo.cc
I like that HOWEVER I wish there was a way you could tilt the handle bars.
I know that way his back is more comfortable but he says he likes it
AMAZING! I wonder how his body is doing. Hope he is not in pain as the way his body is positioned a bit bend, he seams to end up in back-& shoulder pain...
Love the idea 🏆🎁‼️👍but would improve a bit on the drivers positioning💖
Yes i agree with you he is thinking to improve that soon
I love it
thanks for watching
Duuuuuuddeee that is dope I need to do something like that for my wife
Is very easy cap. I hope this video helps you do this for your wife👍
coñooo capitan eres un barbaro tremendo invento como corre y por la hierva como camina 💪💪💪💪👍👍👍👍
Jajaja gracias Parece que ba a 20 mph
Bravo ❤
😊
Thanks for watching
COOL ....😊
thanks 👍👍
How is it holding up? I can't afford a proper motorised attachment but this looks amazing
Is holding up great buddy is a great alternative for those expensive ones
Can reverse using the throttle?
No I don't think so
What kind of sheet you have used, it was difficult to hear???? Thank you
Check out the links in the description below to see the otems i used ,hope this helps
I'm kind like your friend I some disability my self but I to overcome alot thing.
yes buddy don't let anything stop you😉👍👍
Genius
Thanks for watching
I need one of these. The ones on the market are way too expensive. My only question is how difficult is the dismount off the scooter once you're done with it?
Su song the video is just two bolts that's all it takes to put it on and take it off my friend found it really easy to do himself
buy from me,give you purchase price, please cntact sam@mijo.cc
Hooking a $3000 wheelchair to a $2000 scooter. :) How many hours of use on a charge? Distance and speed is not an issue it is the longevity of traveling the same speed as my family on foot.
My friend uses his scooter about 2miles and he has more the half of the battery left but if you run it slower you may get more battery life
I love this. Can you put the links to the scooter and parts in the description?
Hello and sorry this is a old model and we dont jave the link for it
Brilliant 😎
What brand of wheelchair is that?
is a Tilife ZRA
@@OutOnTheReef
Cool thanks
Loctite on those bottom nuts would keep them from working loose. Nice job.
Thanks for the tip Dennis👍👍
Nice....going to need those gloves for 'emergency' brake...:)
Yes you do and he use them a lot for that👍😉
@@OutOnTheReef What I do with mine is if it's rear brake (on the scooter), pull back a bit on the handlebar so that there's more pressure on the rear wheel...that will decrease the stopping distance without the emergency hand brake as much lol
@@bluemaz6 very good idea i like it👍
Is the size of the rear wheel of the wheelchair you are in 24 inches?
Not sure is my friends chair
Wery good
Thank you👍
Are there holes drilled into the scooter?
Yes into the frame tubes, being careful not to hit the batteries
i wonder those people given you thumbs down for your videos are the same people as you getting 6 neg's very quickly.
Those people should get a life....
lol yes they are hatters but the funny part is that they cant look away lol, thanks for watching cap.
capt..your bicycle is using 7 speed Shimano Altus?..sound familiar in my ears
The brand is try-diamond and yes is a shimano , you must have a good ear how do you know that?
Thank you I have an off road wheelchair and an electric scooter that I darent stand on as my left leg is very weak. Ill be getting something like this.

Looks great.. Just need the bars further back somehow. That stance looks uncomfortable while riding.
Good point 👍
What electric scooter mode is that?
I placed the link in the description below of a similar scooter hope you find a helpful
what brand of chair does he have? TiLite?
Yes cap. Is a TiLite
18:02 😂😂😂👍👍👍
theres a reason mobilty scooters only go as fast as they do ) least in my country , they restrict the speed as they are used on public footpaths/ areas and you dont want someone going around at 20mph or more possibly hitting someone ..........those wingnuts to secure the chair to the scooter id have made the holes in the board tapped or secured a nut in it with epoxy then changed the wingnuts for starhead knobs or similar , would be much easier to take on and off especialy for a tetraplegic
Awesome info Joe thanks for sharing buddy👍
Yes good point. Though there are no such restrictions for e scooter users or cyclists. I often have to use my chair on the road anyway as the pavements are not fit for purpose, camber, width, condition, no lowered kerb etc. I have an expensive add on so a bit of speed is necessary in these situations. Problem is the world isn't designed for us. I'd never go at speed on a pavement unless it was obviously clear of people.
