    I wish you would have compared just the 16 gb to the 16+ 8 so we could see if it really improved speeds. Cool video though

    Planning to go 24 gigs RAM for the same reason, also to future proof my PC ;) As people did once say 8 GB RAM was overkill at one point in time too.

    • @iku7630
      @iku7630 3 года назад +5

      I did this on my old PC who started out with 8GB which is not that much nowadays with gaming. And then just plunked in a 16GB. It worked fine, but I dont think it went dual channel. Regardless though the perfomance of just having more RAM is very noticeable. Afterwards also check in the BIOS that the clockspeeds are properly set up. (so suppose both are 3000 mhz, I think out of the box it will be set at 2133 mhz) Just use XMP profiles for this.

    The reason they are working as dual channel is because they have the same frequency. Otherwise it would be bottlenecked to the stick with the lowest frequency.

  • @JitinSharmaplus

    FYI, it's not 24 GB in dual channel, it's 8+8 GB in dual channel and remaining 8 GB in a single channel, at least that's how it will be used - hybrid configuration.

      Is 48gb ram possible?
      Combining 2 pairs of 16gb ram and 2 pairs of 8gb ram, total of 48.
      I have 4ram channel. Which is suitable for Dual channel. So could 48gb ram would work by chance?
      The reason behind this is because I used to play Cities skylines which it's CPU and RAM Intensive, so i do really need a massive ram. Soo yeah.

    as long as the cache latency # is close...cl 15..cl 16 and the clock speed in mhz are close to the same...2400mhz...2600mhz you should be fine..bandwidth can very quite a bit and it makes no real difference..the main thing is to use pairs, not single sticks as it will revert to the slower speeds and could adversely affect dual channel performance.

    You should have use only the 16GB one and run the test and get the score also.
    I have seen that they say DDR4 has high fail rates and mixing is not a good idea. But, since you have used same brand and sub-brand, it should be okay.

    seems like it runs at 8gb dual channel (8 from the 1x8, and 8 from 1x16), this leaves 8 gb running single channel. You get the same if not better performance of running 1x8 1x8.

  • @AkashDeep-xm6sp
    @AkashDeep-xm6sp 4 года назад +12

    You can mix a different ram of different frequencies and size but it will underclock the faster ram to the slowest one. On intel platform no worries but on amd ram frequencies matter alot. But going for same ram with same size and frequency is a safer side. Btw love your ROM review videos for whyred. It will be great if you enter on some pc stuff.🤗
