I like to imagine that Soren survived reach and became a ghost story amongst the covenant about a monster on reach
I like how you made representations of the story using the game footage
💯
I think Sorren cut off his crab claw arm, affixed a chainsaw in its place and sold bang sticks at S Mart. Shop smart. Shop S Mart.
They could actually salvage soren-66 by amputating his deformed limbs and replace it with state of the art cybernetics. Like remove his crab claw hand and replace it with a metal hand and have his leg adjusted.
Just give him some prosthetics if surgery doesn’t work. Some Spartan II’s whose augmentations failed were fixed later. Red team is a great example. They were all washouts that would eventually be turned into full blown Spartans.
If I had to guess, they probably considered it, but found it impossible. We know about the obvious deformities, but we have no idea what damage lies beneath the surface.
And have those cybernetics be combined with weapons for extra firepower
@@WoodyisasexybeastI could imagine some mission where master chief goes to reach to find a way to defeat the banished and then bumping into the reject Spartan who cut off his Crab Claw and fixed himself up with Covenant technology that was left behind and he could have been on Reach killing banished troops and you can hear enemies being able to talk about some Spartan with cybernetics and he could have the remaining armor of noble 6 and maybe they can have a story where noble 6 survive and actually helped the reject Spartan get cybernetics so the pain goes away and he can actually be a Spartan like everyone else and maybe after that the banished could show up and kill noble 6 as he sacrifices himself to save the rejects Spartan and that could give the reject Spartan enough motivation to help Master Chief or join in the front lines but in different planets fighting the Banished with the remaining humans and that could be the end of he's History.
"Vikings push broken children and old people over the edge of cliffs like Spartans. Spartans will accept no failures, except if hunchback tries to join the army then allow him no shame and invite him to join so no harm will come." - The Viking Bible of badassery, obviously used and revered by Halsey.
I love the reconstruction of Soren and Regan’s interaction, this is what I think really happened
I promise, Randall didn’t actually get his neck snapped lol
I feel like he'd be the best Oni Headhunter, especially since they tend to work alone.
Definitely a better option than what they gave him
@@Woodyisasexybeast My man definitely deserves it truly.
The editing, voice overs, B-roll, and music selection was perfect. And so was the delivery. I do hope Soren is found in the future, possibly in the games too. And if he does turn into an innie, that could be cool, but I’d prefer something closer to mickey, where he goes back to being in the UNSC.
How would he deal with the pain without the painkiller doses tho
@eyeballpapercut4400 either the pain dulled over time or he just got used to it. Human beings are very adaptable, we can get used to just about anything.
@@Woodyisasexybeast eh I guess it can be written away by writer's magic
12:23 "he miscalculated slightly" EXPLOSION
I JUST got to that point!
It’s kinda crazy how Soren gets his arm injured and is suddenly not fit to be a Spartan, meanwhile Kat lost her entire arm and just got it replaced
I mean, his issues were a lot deeper than just his arm
Not to mention prosthetic legs are also a thing Spartans get
I swear tyat thumbnail made him look like a freaking combat form for a moment. Only thing more terrifying then that is to have him with a rocket launcher down a hallway while in a public library...
Hey man, just wanted to pop on here and give you props for putting in the work. I see your stuff on TT too. Always glad to see a budding Halo content creator like myself.
I read a ton of the books and have a passion for Reach. I love the way you put this story together about the washout Soren. The play acting you used through Reach gameplay was super enjoyable to watch! Great job taking the time to put this story together, REMEMBER REACH
Love the way you put this vid together, both narrative and editing/footage are pretty cool!
What would've been cool is if Soren saved Noble 6 on reach, just a thought, but would've been interesting
That’s where my head was at when I wrote the line about a cave
incredible video, very interesting topic too!
"i got a crab hand, i got a normal hand

@@Woodyisasexybeast "crab hand", by Crudbump. One of the few gems from his musical catalog
@beefs0ck911 of course. Silly me lol
Great ending quote! And I too will most likely go play some Halo

Nice video
Pretty sure I have, at least, some idea of how Soren felt.

This was pretty good i looked past the having a woody for woody thing and subbed 😂👍
Looked past? That should be the *reason* you subbed ❤️
@@Woodyisasexybeast 🤣
This was a way better story than what the Halo series came up with.
Doesn’t take much 😕
Actually, they adapted a lot of this for TV Soren, but not all of it. And he definitely didn't end up at the Rubble in canon or if he did it didn't do him much good: the canon version of the Rubble was destroyed in 2535. Both Captain Keyes and the Arbiter were involved in that.
The TV series is amazing
@yvesdikel4297 you think? That’s a rare opinion to have. Episodes 1-4 of season 2 were certainly a major improvement but the 5th episode seemed to return to the crappiness of season 1 in my opinion.
@@Woodyisasexybeast I love season 1. I binged the whole season in a day. Couldn't even stop watching. And season 2 is as good. I wished all the episodes were already out
I wish they made a Halo series full of these stories. Sort of what "Love, Death & Robots" and "Black mirror" already do, each episode is an independent story with no real correlation to each other but all within the Halo universe.
Oh man, have I got a surprise for you. Check out Halo Legends. It’s an anime exactly like you’re suggesting. I also have a video about it 😁
@@Woodyisasexybeast Oh yeah I completely forgot about Halo Legends, it's a shame it was too short but some of the animations were not canon at all. What I meant is that they should make a series with the already canon stories from the books and such. I guess It is possible with the amount of budget they have now thanks to Microsoft.
@kenreed2011 it’s 8 shorts, 7 of which are canon. The only one that isn’t is Odd One Out.
They sort of did that too. Several of the stories from Halo Evolutions, which is an anthology of unrelated short stories. were turned into animations
@@Woodyisasexybeast I always thought the story with the long haired Spartan II and the Prototype were non canon, that's pretty cool.
The Babysitter. Definitely canon. One of the more recent Infinite multiplayer maps, Forest, takes place relatively close to where they killed the prophet during that short.
Prototype too. All canon, fortunately. Again, except Odd One Out
I remember reading that story and it sucked that he was such a hardened kid and to end up hurt and vulnerable like that.
With a few twists this could be an amazing spin off movie
I like how Soren’s fate was kept vague so they could use him later, or just allow for different people to have their own ideas about what happened to him. Too bad the show was a complete dumpster fire. Including Soren was an interesting idea, but he should’ve been horribly disfigured and from what I’ve heard the Spartan armor is as expensive as one of the big UNSC ships making stealing a suit grounds for immediate execution. There’s several different routes they could’ve taken that would’ve been truly great. My ideal version would be a mini series that juggles the plots of CE, The Flood book, and Fireteam Raven. A different universe would be perfectly fine if they kept the thing mostly faithful, while taking the opportunity to rearrange certain events so they flow better, having soft retcons that make connections where things didn’t exist previously and mention other lore that didn’t exist at the time to make the universe feel more cohesive, and adding in Digsite content/weapons and vehicles from other games where appropriate to make the conflict feel larger and more fleshed out. If they wanted to explore different character’s origins they could have flashbacks to Fall of Reach, Contact Harvest, and a few other books/comics. For tone it would mostly be a gritty war movie with some moments of levity, and when Chief is on screen it would become an 80s action movie to show that Spartans can do things that normal humans cannot, and when the Flood show up it would become more horror focused. Unfortunately, that option would’ve made too much sense. Season 2 electric boogaloo of the show looks better, but Halo has always had a phenomenal marketing campaign and Halo 5’s Hunt the Truth campaign misled everyone into thinking the game was something else entirely. Good video.
Well put as always, my friend.
Thanks. What would your ideal Halo show be?
Also, what do you think season 2 will be like? The marketing makes it look like they’ll be able to properly capture the tone/feel of Halo. But, we should be VERY skeptical because season 1 also had good marketing that misled everyone. I’m sure if there are improvements it will most likely be mediocre at best. My expectations are set to zero. I will admit that part of me wishes instead of trying to fix the show they’d just embrace the fact that the show is trash and make it as big of a dumpster fire as humanly possible😂.
I remember early on before the show jumped the shark and everyone was really mixed on the show I was thinking they could do a George Lucas and give us something akin to the special edition edits. What I mean by that is they’d rearrange, cut, and add certain scenes to make the show flow better. They’d fix the special effects, reshoot scenes so Chief would be wearing his armor, replacing that crazy guy who was supposed to be a Jackal in a book with a Jackal (keeping Squidward’s house on his desk is absolutely mandatory😂🗿), and other similar improvements. I now realize that there’s so many underlying issues with the show you’d have to change so much that you’d be better off just rebooting the thing.
Regardless of how things turn out I’m morbidly curious to see where it goes. I’m also super excited to see all the rant videos🤣
@shreksnow1918 much like you, I have absolutely no expectations whatsoever. The first season did so many things that pissed me off. I gave up on it about half way through when “chief” almost decked Halsey.
The trailer for season 2 looks good but I know better than to trust that. At this point, I’m not even sure I want it to be good. Season 1 bastardized the story so much that I’d rather they start over completely. Keep in mind, that’s coming from someone who absolutely loathes retcons. I’d rather writers build on shitty stories to retroactively improve them instead of throwing them out. In this case though… season 2 would have to be pretty spectacular to improve upon that shit show.
Ideally, I’d want an actual canon show. If Fallout is doing it, there’s absolutely no reason why Halo couldn’t have. At that point, the setting wouldn’t even matter to me. I understand wanting to start over for the show though, pulling from different sources whenever they felt it necessary. Honestly, I think your description would have been the best in that scenario. Although, I think they should’ve focused on the earlier stories of the human covenant war before jumping straight to CE. The first few seasons could’ve adapted the Spartan II program, Contact Harvest, Halo Wars, etc. Then the next season or two could’ve been what you said. A story that nicely mixes elements of CE, The Flood and Fireteam Raven. Also, give Arbiter a presence during those events so that his eventual turn would be more impactful. I would’ve loved to see that duality built upon even more, having scenes of Arby commanding troops on the ring to try and kill chief then chief having to deal with it. If that makes sense
The shows not canon but his back story is the same in the show. In fact when he said " left me in the woods eating bark and beetles" I was like "not the first time".
@@Woodyisasexybeast They could have set the show during the middle part of the war. Like 2540's to early 2550's or done live action version of the book The Flood and it would have been better.
never knew this story despite being your bestfriend
It’s one of the more obscure stories for sure

This story really broke my heart.
The audiobook made me so sad that I never listened to it agan. I just cant take it 😢😞
It’s a major bummer for sure. I like to think Soren is still out there somewhere.
@@WoodyisasexybeastDefinitely not at the Rubble in canon though!!! That was destroyed in 2535.
What book is this from? Maybe I don’t remember this.
@williammuldrow2165 my sources are in the description. It’s from Evolutions. Specifically Pariah
@@Woodyisasexybeast Ah, I appreciate it. Thank you. I am not used to people actually listing their sources. I'm working through your other videos now. Lots of good stuff.
I'm working on my own version for Halo, another timeline that will work better than the Silver one. For the Spartans, I figured out a way for Harsely to get all three hundred she wanted. Now, I'm working on ways that'll allow the augmentations to be more successful so there'll less crippled Spartans as a result. While making it very lore friendly.
They actually adopted a lot of this for the TV version of Soren, except he never joined an Insurrectionist and he had initially planned to flee with John. According to Soren in the show, he even got shot down and survived, but he managed to get to The Rubble in the end.
Getting mjolnir, going to the rubble, trying to escape with John, all very different than the show version
@@WoodyisasexybeastYeah, like I said not all of it was the same. But some of his backstory was, including his escaping and getting shot down. They didn't even HAVE the armor at that age, that's one of the differences in the show. John said in episode 1 that he's got Mark 6 armor, they don't even have that until Halo 2.
"Wasted potential" Understatement. Wonder if it ever occurred to Halsey or Mendez to put Soren on solo missions? Just because he can't operate with a team doesn't mean he had to be sidelined, especially if Soren WANTED to still participate. Hell, even pairing him with another Spartan, like the Headhunters, could've still worked out.
I wonder what would happen if they made like a deformed monster sparten squads that they could use more- without guilt if they lose the soldiers because of their deformities that could be a deadly aggressive task force lol
Love it. Btw, Cpl means Corporal.
When did I say CPL? It was CPO not CPL. Chief Petty Officer Mendez.
What book was that story from I had a collection of Halo short stories two of my favories were Dirt and Headhunters. I think the short story with Sorrin was in there too.
All of the sources are in the description. You are correct though. It’s part of Halo Evolutions, which is the anthology you’re referring to
@@Woodyisasexybeast thank you!
Halo Evolutions. It's an anthology book with a bunch of different stories. There's at least two: Evolutions and Fractures.
and now we know what happened dude!!!!!
They adapted a lot of this for TV Soren, but not all of it. And he definitely didn't end up at the Rubble in canon or if he did it didn't do him much good: the canon version of the Rubble was destroyed in 2535. Both Captain Keyes and the Arbiter were involved in that.
It is possible oni went back and got him back in and made him a spartan 4(knowing that spartan 2 rejects were also allowed to become a spartan 4 of the ones that had the possibility to do so)
Possible but given his frustrations towards ONI and the UNSC as a whole, I’d say it’s unlikely. If he did manage to escape, I imagine his fate would be similar to what the Halo tv show illustrated. He’d go off and do his own rebellious thing. Preferably without the presence of Kwan Ha…
Sorren is a spartan. It’s totally bs what they said to him. Yeah like there’s no such thing as a lone wolf soldier. Our human history is built on incredible stories about these people. Truly a missed opportunity you asked me!
To honor that brave yet broken Spartan I will dawn my first son with his name His name will be "Soren Sehara Gonzales" I know that spartan will always be honored and he will not be forgotten.
Remember Reach.
Remember the fallen Spartans we all have lost.
😂
This subplot would have been more fitting for Halo Season 02, rather than the disappointing shitshow of a story they've chosen to focus on about him. Man, the writers of the show really dropped the ball on this one.
Ik this doesnt count but Soren is a pretty good character in the Halo show too.
Agreed
Why does Boren have a crab claw ?
I mentioned it in the video. The augmentations didn’t work properly and caused his body to be deformed. His fingers on one hand were bent into a crab like claw
@@Woodyisasexybeast ahh I missed that, also ignore my shitty spelling !
What could have been a great halo video game.
infinitely better than the tv show
Wasn’t the UNSC good at prosthetic augmentations?
Based on Kat’s arm, it would seem so. It’s unclear why they didn’t just give him a replacement. That being said, even if they had, his issues ran far deeper than that
@@Woodyisasexybeast yes yes, very true I’m just surprised Dr. Halsey didn’t try it at the beginning the Halsey we know would usually take a leap at this for more experimentation and to try and correct the process but at the same time his mental state was messed up
its cool to find out Soren was a character before that horrible series on paramount
They actually pull a bizarre amount of interesting content from the games
@@Woodyisasexybeast yeah, its a shame they drag most of it through the dirt. 'looks at sad emo boy master chief'
@joelcoombs2437 I do think they did much better with season 2 though. The fall of reach was way too short but the 4th episode was very solid. Same with the 8th. The flood was done quite well. The III’s sucked though :(
@@Woodyisasexybeast i did like the flood i have to admit but the whole mystic story line with Quan and how they've just made Halsey pure evil rather than going into her story properly. im okey with some creative licence but they are just destroying characters left and right. we wont even talk about their version of Keys.
@joelcoombs2437 I don’t mind the mystic angle IF it’s connected to an ancient human geas (genetic marker left behind by the forerunners to preserve information).
Halsey is a wretched person in the show though, no doubt. There’s no nuance.
As much as I don’t like that Keyes died so early, his death was at least kind of cool.
I’ve given up trying to predict what they’re doing with the show at this point. It’s so dramatically different. I try to just accept that the characters won’t behave like they should because they’re basically not the same. I’d prefer they follow the source material better but at least they ended on an uphill trajectory.
I HATE Makee though. I just want her gone
The true Halsey only a true fan of halo would know also I'm just gonna say it Soren saved noble 6 just an idea
Definitely what I was thinking when I said “in a cave”
@@Woodyisasexybeast I honestly just want noble to be alive which I believe will be canon one day but if they add a spartan 2 id love it more
Isn’t Soren the runaway spartan from the halo tv show and he became a pirate and is good friends with master chiefs
Yeah, they adapted a lot of this for TV Soren, but not all of it. And he definitely didn't end up at the Rubble in canon or if he did it didn't do him much good: the canon version of the Rubble was destroyed in 2535. Both Captain Keyes and the Arbiter were involved in that.
can we get a woody reveal
That would have to be exclusive to only fans
How cool would it be if Soren rescued Noble 6
If only :(
soren could possibly save 6, we never techincally saw either of them die so
Sort of what I was hinting at when I said he could be hiding somewhere in a cave. If 6 was around though, he’d have made himself known I think
the elites would have finished 6 off
But we saw six die rho
Not so fun fact: John 117 most likely witnessed this (not the entirety though)
Where's the source material for this? I've never heard of this Spartan?
In the description.
Much appreciated I like to pick up any books I haven't read yet👍👍@@Woodyisasexybeast
Couldn't they have given him a new arm and let him be apart of a non Spartan team?
Potentially. Had he waited a little while, it’s possible that he could’ve been rehabilitated entirely and become a full blown Spartan. Red team’s augmentations failed but they were able to become mjolnir wielding Spartans later.
I have figured it out Soren. Johnson is his last name soren is sgt Johnson's. Remember sgt Johnson was technically a 1st gen Spartan
I assume you’re joking but Johnson is way too old to be Soren lol. Dude was 78 when he died
@@Woodyisasexybeast
It's a shot in the dark....they've done a lot of deviation from the main storyline so why not.
Wait what? You’re saying Soren is Johnson in the silver timeline, not the primary universe. Correct?
@@Woodyisasexybeast
If by Silver you mean the show yes.... It's just a theory but think about it.
The show is clearly different when looking at the main storyline. I can only assume they are trying to add a human element to the characters.
Per the game you really don't know much about Master Chief. It's not like he's doing a lot of talking lol
I thought you were referring to the main universe because that’s what all of this lore is from. Soren’s story is a bit different in the show.
Yeah, the “silver timeline” is the official designation for the tv show. I can’t say I’m particularly fond of the idea that Soren might fill the role of Johnson but I wouldn’t be all that surprised. I was hoping for an actual Johnson adaptation towards the end of this season or the beginning of the next.
Jesus loves u narrow is the way❤
What is the source of this lore?
Every source is in the description
Halo Evolutions.
This kid was a sociopath
Maybe but I don’t think so. He deeply regretted trying to kill his step dad. He had empathy for him, just much later when he was old enough to understand
@@Woodyisasexybeast or a psychopath point is Halsey should not have pick this guy. Also isn't it funny how the only kid she gave a choice was one who really didn't have a good choice. It come with me or live in the woods. I could never see at that age giving kids that had loving families that choice. Nope just him
Also possible but the way he’s portrayed, I really don’t think so. He’s described as feeling genuine guilt and remorse. Empathy as well, which is something neither a sociopath nor a psychopath can feel. Regardless, it’s all very twisted. As you said, the kid really had no choice at all. Halsey even thinks that to herself upon asking him
more of a reason to hate halsey
Yeah :(
The sad thing is that Halsey cared about Soren in her own way. She genuinely cared about the Spartans, she was just something of a mad scientist. Unlike TV Halsey who is just completely despicable.
I still feel they could have used some prothstetics to fix some of his issues and maybe put him in charge of marines or with a band of marines in a defencive position that was semi important. That way his strengths as a spartan would be properly utilized, but hed be out of the direct conflict
Shit, he probably could’ve survived through direct combat. Just outfit him with a none Spartan team. Problem solved
Is this all made up or is there actual source material?
All sources are in the description.
@@Woodyisasexybeast my bad bro, appreciate you, you got a sub here
Bungie with their retoric of 7 being the perfect number and their favorite number, of course 6 will be their least favorite number cuz is imperfect and represent evilness
I don’t think bungie really had anything to do with this story… However, that’s a really clever observation. I wonder if it’s a coincidence or truly plays into it as you’ve suggested. Funny coincidence at the least
Why wasn't this in the show!?
This question could be applied to many things.
@@Woodyisasexybeast true, I try to be forgiving and open minded but I cannot stress how many times I have said I don't. care about Qwan or Soren B plot. But this... a spartan who was given a choice by Halsey no less... holy shit I would have cared.
Soren was the only interesting aspect of that entire arc. It feels like they were literally trying to make Kwan annoying in the first season. She’s been a lot better in season 2 at least. Seems like they’re setting her up to be connected to ancient humanity or something? It’s so unpredictable in such weird ways though so who knows.
@@Woodyisasexybeast watching this video I was never more interested in Soren, I think the line Halsey made in the last episode about letting him go was the closest overlap.
Kwan has something to do with the monitor and I like her more now but still the b plots barely push me to caring,.They seem like they aren't taking me anywhere interesting, just serving as distractions from what should be the main plot.
Which should be the fall of reach;
which seems to be over? 2 episodes and done...
sorry I'm ranting.
Yeah, his tragic backstory is what made his character so interesting but it hasn’t really been mentioned in the show. Aside from once in passing.
It seems like they’re implying she has an important geas. At least, that’s what I’m hoping is going on. I agree though. Episodes 1-4 of season 2 were actually good and 5 just wasn’t for that same reason.
I’m with you. 100%. I was really bummed after episode 5 because 1-4 tricked me into thinking they’d actually created a more consistent vision that was slightly more in line with the books/games. Episode 5 though… bleh. Let’s hope 6 is more in line with the first 4. I’m trying not to get my hopes up though.
does anyone else think they made to show just to kill the master chief fan base so they can have their way with the franchise? Not a fan of the new halo they should've just let it die after reach
Not even remotely. Halo 4, the forerunner trilogy and even Infinite to a lesser degree are absolutely excellent. The show isn’t written by the same people.
You people are SERIOUSLY taking the master cheeks show seriously enough to make stupid lore videos about it 😂😂😂 this isnt Halo. "iNfInItE" isn't halo. Neither is 5 and as much as i personally enjoy 4 it's no Halo either.
You people are enablers who then turn around and complain how Halo has been ruined. 😂
This has nothing to do with the show, you nitwit. Soren is from a novel published in 2009.
