Wow, to my mind the Tokina looks significantly sharper. I always knew their macro lenses were sharp but never looked into the 85mm. Thanks for the review and comparison.
You've set my mind at ease. I have the Tokina on order and expect to get it in the next few days. I do a lot of video interviews (also on an A7III) and often shoot in situations where the subject is closer to the background than I would like. I'm hoping the lens will help me achieve better separation.
@@OmaGhomrawi razor-sharp at 1.4, fast AF (faster as the 85/1.8 GM), no CA, aperture ring, MF/AF Switch, free programmable Button, high contrast, naturaly colors, weather sealing... Only the price (1099 Euro) keeps me to wait.
Have you experienced camera locked up? While using the tokina, my sony a7iv is locking up after couple of shots. I like the performance of this lens (image quality and quick autofocus) except my camera locked up issue.
very good comparison video. please tell me how you edit video of this comparison? side by side view and zoom and .. . in premiere is very long time spent .... are you using plugin or software?
Wow, wasn't expecting this result. Have heard almost zero of the Tokina brand. I have the f1.4 30 and 50mm from Sigma for my Sony and will get a couple of new lenses when I come to Dubai for some shopping. I was thinking of spending more on the f2.8 24-70mm or 28-75mm Sigma or Sony. Then get prime 85mm. This one seems to be amazing value for the price to add to my lens bag. Again, great content!
2:32 False. Boceh footballs with smooth round edges(on each side) are more desirable than octagonal boceh ESPECIALLY when the octagonal boceh is lop-sided like you see in this image.
2:43 look behind her head. notice how garbled the octagonal boceh looks. look how much smoother the Sony looks with its smooth round sides. That's why smooth round sided football boceh is more desirable than octagonal boceh. In other parts of this picture it's more of a toss up.
None bokeh is the best. As it's subjective, I would pick Tokina bokeh over Sony. Besides my personal feedback, the point here is to show you the difference, and you make up your mind what suits you the best.
@@OmaGhomrawi And you didn't show us the difference. You pointed out the things that looked good on the Tokina and didn't mention what looked good about the Sony. You specifically zoomed in to spots where the Tokina looked good and not where the Tokina looked bad. If you pointed out the good things about the Sony then I wouldn't be here saying how biased your opinion was. It's almost as if you got paid to say Tokina was better.
@@professorstein5855 if you’re watch my other videos, you know I am tough comparing lenses. As far as I experimented, I see tokina 85mm image quality is better than sony. Speaking of unbiased feedback, please check my reviews of Tokina 100mm macro and 20mm, where I crashed them upside down because they are no way close to their competitors.
I never used a Tokina lens that I did not like. But, I owned the Sony before the Tokina was issued and don't think that I want to switch... However, I might seriously consider the Tokina if I did not own the Sony!
In my opinion Sony 85mm 1.8 is good because it has auto focus, manual focus button and is light weight
love from India ❤️ 🇮🇳

HEy! Can you tell me please what you think of this tokina lens? What is your experience with it?
My winner is Sigma 85 f1.4 dg dn, but if i have small budget, so the Tokina is the champion 👍
Thanks for this Video and greetings from Germany 🙋🏻♂️
Thanks for watching! I should test the Sigma 1.4
Why it’s your favorite?

@@WU_Foto sounds interesting! Now you made think getting one on rent to test
@@OmaGhomrawi good idea! 👍👍👍. This time, the streetprice of this lens is higher as the offical price from Sigma. This says so much...
@@WU_Foto For 1,100 EUR you can get Zeiss glass and not terrible Sigma... Too expensive.

What about focus breathing Oma, have you noticed any?
Many thanks
Weight is always a big negative for my use
I will buy Tokina .Thank you brother.
from thailand ✌😁
sony (a) pics have more swirl in the edges. Tokina (b) is more clinical, a bit sharper too.

That was done in after effects :)
Great review. I’m on the verge of buying this lens and was wondering how the firmware updates work for this lens. Appreciate your input
Glad you enjoyed it
Me too. How?

Thanks for the detailed review. Tokina wins 👍
Thanks for watching!
Tokina lost.
Make a video on Samsung 85mm 1.4 vs Sony 85mm 1.8
Will take your suggestion into consideration
The Tokina looks to be an excellent piece of glass! Thanks for the review 🤙🏼 (P.S. - I'll be visiting Dubai in April, maybe we can link up)
Thanks for watching! Gald you find the video helpful.
Hit me on Instagram when you’re here
It was easy to see A was Sony because it was that much better.
Appreciate the review Oma. Just want to ask if the provided link for sample files came from Tokina only or is it mixed with Sony?
Hi Alen, it's a mix of images from Sony and Tokina
Thanks!
Good morning my brothers

Tokina has been around for a long time. It’s nice to see tokina improving their quality. I was hoping for a sigma like resurgence for them.
Great review!.

Tokina bokeh is awesome
Tokina is better then sony???
As you watching the video, you will find that both lenses does a great job. Sony is lighter, while Tokina is cheaper
