I am so glad that you have shared your gift and your knowledge and passion for singing with all of us. I have always known that I could sing but it wasn’t till I started watching you and your own personal growth through your channel that I realized that I was being overly critical of myself. I had to start believing that I actually can sing. You are 100% correct when you say that it is 90% mental and 10% talent. I have grown so much to in my own worship singing and leadership just by watching you. You are incredible and I’m so thankful for you.

Tara, I particularly enjoyed how you looked at this performance both objectively but also personally. It’s not that often we get to see a great singer look at their OWN performance and really deliver an analysis with personal thoughts. Love these videos!!

wow, love the way you broke this apart to explain your technical choices. This song is a lot of hard work! I do hope whilst singing it, Tara, you're not too in your head, telling yourself to do this and that, because you want to still be in the heart 90%of the time, to truly feel the song and express the meaning, and not thinking up in the mind. You get what I mean? But anyway, you were truly incredible singing this... and explained in your reaction very clearly what you were doing and why. Maybe I'll try this song privately myself, but am pretty sure I won't get that low note, as soprano singing is natural for me... and I totally got what you meant by it being easier to go higher for an effective sound plus vocal break. Good on you!

Thank you for sharing this beautiful performance of "I Will Always Love You" and breaking down how you approached each section of the song. It's always fun to hear you describe what you're feeling and what you're trying to achieve. You mentioned that you hadn't sung this song for quite a while but had coached other singers on it. Which brings me to my question: The performance of your little Unicorn at Rancho Palos Verdes was almost identical (less the whistle notes of course), including the restrained first chorus and the pronunciation of "Joy." Did you coach Angelica on that performance or did she figure things out herself from what you were teaching her? Of course, I'd love to see you react to some of her more recent covers, including her piano covers (e.g., Blinding Lights) and ones where she's recorded her own backup vocals (e.g., Dynamite). Thanks again and take care during this pandemic.

Awesome! A very tough song that even Whitney couldn't sing at the end. So many times, I hear purported vocal coaches music and think, "They're a vocal coach????" But, you have a beautiful voice. I'll have to admit that when I first saw this, I thought, "The ultimate narcissism in reacting to yourself singing!" But, it worked!!

  • @savannahparisian8348

This was a very fun and insightful react video. The performance was LOVELY and like caramel to the ears, but my favorite aspect of all of this was getting to hear what was going on in the mind of the singer for all of the technique and artistic choices. I watch plenty of react videos of musicians/vocalists pointing out critiques or things done well by a singer, but I found it lots more helpful to hear the singer’s perspective on the choices made as well as their outcome. It provides me with lots of strategies and things to think about when it comes to stage performances or just singing alone in my kitchen. Great performance, voice, and insight!!

Hi Tara. I must say I’m mighty impressed. Not only your voice but your musical knowledge and the way you understand the intricate situations. I’ve just found you, & wow. I’ve now subscribed to your Chanel.( and pressed the bell)
I feel you are the type of performer/vocal coach who will appreciate real talent & therefore ask you to have an in-depth look at a young Soprano by the name of Amira Willighagen who won Holland’s Got Talent at the age of nine, and did so without a single singing lesson. She has since had an excellent coach & has performed in some 13 countries, singing in 5 languages. Her concert performances have been to a packed auditorium supported by a full orchestra and backup singers & now has literally millions of followers worldwide. You may not have even heard of her, but do just one reaction & you will be mesmerised by not only her gorgeous voice, but the power & range she produces, & whatever range she is in, it is done effortlessly, without effort, & is never out of breath. All registers are aligned, so you don’t hear 2 types of voice. She is simply remarkable.
I know this is a rather long post, but I don’t apologise, because Amira is worth it. I suggest a few performances ( in order of age )to chose from should you be willing to react to this young lady with the voice of an angel.
... Amira with Andre Rieu who invited her to perform O Mio Babbino Caro at Maastricht in front of 15,000 people who gave her a standing ovation. Aged 10
... Ave Maria by George Gomez at the Canisius Church. Amira gives an incredible emotional performance. Aged 11
... Nella Fantasia. (Pick the concert performance ) aged 12
... Gabriella’s Song ( Again the concert performance). Aged 14
Amira is 17 this month, but these few performances will give you a great insight into her incredible talents.
    Thanks, & cheers, Graeme.

I've been waiting for this ever since you reacted to Whitney's out-of-prime performance from Divas '99. No question that you're a very skilled & knowledgable vocalist. The vocals here are terrific. This was a bit musical-theatre in my opinion. Very bright vowels, forward in the mask, safe & logical choices-- including that well calculated extra high note towards the end. One aspect of Whitney that is terribly under-appreciated is her overall musicality and control over her band. SHE was always in control and completely immersed in the music. This felt like the band was pulling you. Also, as a performer, it really seems like you were in your head while singing--Thinking instead of feeling. I saw no images of who or what you were singing to... it all sounded like a bunch of pretty notes. Whitney commanded a standing ovation even when she wasn't in great voice because she still took her audience on a journey through her interpretation. I'm sure you've grown since then, and impart that on your students/clients.

You did great! I'd love to see you react to other singers from your church that same day, especially if someone sang "my heart will go on".

Absolutely correct. When you have belted for more than 50% of the song, if you are a belter you know those vocal chords are completely thinned and stretched to their max...but practice with this has taught us that they are relaxed and greased and prepped already at that thin point so keeping it high is more of a comfort than slamming them loose to deepen and risk the chords not finding full note placement. It's easier and more comfortable to let them slowly loosen than just all at once. And the foot stomp..if you are a si ger you completely understand it...not only is it showmanship but it also reinforces your vocal choice by inserting dominance and power to that moment. What you do with the body is reflected in the voice so yes, brilliant♡ great job. Keep inspiring us with your amazing talent and it is a goal that one day u will have room in your schedule to take me on...I want to have that Tara stamp on my vocal chords.
