@@AniBats actually I have been very curious to know how you do about starting or creating a custom hood. Do you start off with a bunch of single sims or sims already in families?
I've actually been having a hard time creating my own hoods and sticking to them for a long time in the past, so I haven't found a good way to do it yet. What I've most often done is created sims in a separate Uni hood first (which allows me to give them unique last names despite being in the same family) and played them there to get to know them. Then, I've moved them to the main hood and started up their adult lives.
My current running theory though is that it's probably a good idea to put some sort of storyline in place before starting to build up the new hood. If we take Pleasantview for example, one of the things that's so captivating with it is the rich story and the way we can shape it in different ways each time we re-play the hood.
Similarly to that, I think that in order for, at least me, to maintain a strong interest in the hood and the sims in it is for there to be some kind of story. Like, perhaps it used to be a bustling town on the rise, but a criminal gang took over part of town and now they are struggling to make ends meet because half the town had enough and moved away. Or maybe it's an old town that's been very tight knit, but some of the families decided to get into tourism, which has created a divide between the families who thing tourists are ruining their way of life whereas others think they are what the town needs to gain income and grow. You know something like that - something that makes it make sence why we are playing with these families in particular. The moment the gameplay becomes monotone is when I lose interest, and I think that's true for a lot of simmers. I hope that all made sense sorry for the ramble 😅❤
It's so cute that Shanna wants to be like her older sister. Reminds me of how my younger sister used to sneak into my closet and borrow my clothes when we were teenagers 😂 I love how Christa and Warren are gamers; I definitely will be playing video games with my partner well into our old age
Ive only just finished watching the furnishing but just want to say before I forget, well it looks lovely as always, but also, it made me a little emotional when you were saying how our generation are going go be playing games when we are old and grey even though the current elders don’t tend to! I’ll be right there with you - playing through the pain of arthritis probably 😂❤️

It's cute that Christa and Warren have the same hobby. And Warren's the principal at his daughter's school? Awkward!
This is also the first family we've seen that has sims already as a couple with a child. All the others were single parents looking after their sons/daughters [Wilson, Walter, Custer], older siblings looking after their teenager siblings [Pheleps, Grey, Miller], or roommates [Raha 2]. We've yet to get a household with a child so far.
I love these houses! I think I tried to remake them in my downtown after your build video but failed miserably 😂.
I wonder if there's some type of secret subplot going on with the military career in downtown. Or maybe it was some of those sims 2 randomiser quirks. Either way, I thinking it's hilarious.
yay! i have treated myself to a few of your downtown episodes, currently going through your pleasantview series while i study. your voice and gameplay is so relaxing, it's my favourite. not to mention the storytelling, it's so inspiring! i managed to find the section of my mods folder causing my game crashing issues recently so i've just got back into setting up my bacc. hopefully i get caught up to finish watching through downtown soon ♥

@@AniBats it's going well! still setting up but the hood is almost fully decorated and houses built. i'm now having trouble with the stairs catalog crashing, but i can make do with single-floor houses while i track down the source of the errors lol! just got to s02 e08, i love this series so much. ♥i hope you are well.
I loove that they ended up with the same hobbie! They sound like that adorable couple that have fun together with stuff non couple related and I think that's so nice!
I already like the ideia that Shanna and Fricorith could get along. Like a gothic romance of sorts hahaha I am super invested in seeing if they will get along or not

I'm using Gunmod's Radiance Light System 2.4. If you're thinking of getting it, I usually recommend this version that's included in the automatic installation program for the Scriptorium (if you don't already have it). That way you get both the lighting mod plus a program that allows you to easily install custom staircases, fireplaces etc. without editing any game files: modthesims.info/d/192613/the-scriptorium-v-2-2f-bugfix-radiance-2-4.html
