The "plane must dip" argument would also be false around a very small planet. Here is a simple experiment that shows why: Take an analog clock and a small stick such as a match or a toothpick. Attach the stick perpendicularly to one of the clock hands. The stick will rotate with the clock hand without ever having to dip its nose. For an external point of view, the stick rotates with the clock handle. The same applies to planes. They do not have to dip their nose. They only have to perform a rotation proportional to the traveled distance ; 1 degree every 40000/360 = 111 km. For a commercial plane traveling at 1000 km/h that means 9 degree/hour or 0.000417 rpm. This is an incredibly small rotation speed and as explained in the video, the pilot has nothing else to do than keep the plane roughly perpendicular to the direction of gravity (which also rotates by the same amount).
I have an ex air force step uncle who spent an entire day saying the earth was flat when staying with him,I'm definitely sending this to him and hope he responds
On Antarctica, we also don't go there on a mass scale because 1: they have winter storms all the time that are dangerous to fly in, and 2: it's so cold that the plane fuel literally freezes so only certain relatively warm parts of the continent during the summer can be landed at.
Technically, aircraft would have to change their attitude to deal with the curve. However, the atmosphere is a dynamic system, aircraft have to constantly adjust their attitude, any curve adjustments would be insignificant and lost among the much greater ones needed to maintain straight and level flight. The same applies to adjustments for the Coriolis effect.
@grahvis none of your explanation was necessary in response to what I said. What I was pointing out was how stupid it is for flat earthers to use the pitch of an airplane to refute the earth is a sphere. By stating that the earth isn't a sphere because airplanes don't fly with their noses down to account for the curvature of the earth is a stupid position to take when we know that planes can and do land with positive pitch angles.
Notice how when measuring degrees of a circle in trig or calc, you divide degrees into minutes and seconds. Almost like math in general has been related to circles, spheres
It's amazing to me how people in the states can just say shit with confidence and really believe it's true. Its so bizarre. When I used to live in England I would have little conversations with people about cultural differences between us and the Europeans. In American everyone is told there are no limits, so they behave that way. We have finally reached a point where the rugged individualism shit is poisoning the collective wellspring of thought. It's so extremely embarrassing...
hmmmm.. If we where living on a flat Earth, wouldn't we all see the same stars in the sky??? I mean shit I am not a smart man but I would think if we were all standing on a flat Earth wouldn't we all look up and see the same stars or am I wrong?
The concept is easy to understand honestly. Podcast like this exist for one fundamental reason: For a multitude of societal issues, people don't not understand how little they stand to "lose" by simply admitting to not knowing or not understanding something and get the corrected answer when questions arise. Instead, many will make something up, like some act of refusing to show weakness from lack of knowledge. To avoid looking like fools short term, but in fact become true fools long term. Then add the need to "double-down" rather than course correct, still preferring the illusion to save face over growth. I don't know if it's Media or discomfort among peers but they would rather do anything other than admitting to a gap in information or understanding and growing from it.
The point of planes not “dipping their nose” is so painfully obvious. It’s crazy that Ish even said that shit so confidently to be honest. The picture of the plane n the globe in contrast to how small the plane actually is compared to the earth is a great visual way of showing the point also.
Circumference of the earth at the equator, about 40 million meters. A380 wingspan, 80 meters. We are but a speck of dust in the grand scheme of things.

@6:52 absolutely right, and your point is backed up even more by the fact that multistage rockets exist. Each stage in a step rocket has its own propellant and engines that get jettisoned as they are no longer needed, and this even being necessary for rockets using powerful fuel and designed to go straight up makes a plane flying off the earth seem even more ridiculous Great video man, hope it prevents some people from going down the flat earth conspiracy rabbithole
Henrietta Lacks' story specifically, or eugenics, phrenology, psychology, forced sterilization, medical discrimination, and so many other things rooted so deeply in white supremacy that if you really look into things the rabbit hole gets very dark, very quick; are just a few things off the top of my head as to why black people don't trust science. BUT, we are some of the largest consumers of technology, and our adaptation to new media and platforms is LITERALLY BEING STUDIED. That being said, i read books so all this flat earth stuff HAS to be for the clickbait, right? RIGHTT!?

Oh this is lit 🔥🔥🔥🔥 3:35
I have an ex air force step uncle who spent an entire day saying the earth was flat when staying with him,I'm definitely sending this to him and hope he responds
Yo that outro song is Debussey, right? I just heard that song the other day.
Very live.
Your the reason why I try to do more research and ACTUALLY try to understand these things.
Thank you 🙏
On Antarctica, we also don't go there on a mass scale because 1: they have winter storms all the time that are dangerous to fly in, and 2: it's so cold that the plane fuel literally freezes so only certain relatively warm parts of the continent during the summer can be landed at.
I wonder how people who think planes have to dip their nose to fly try to explain planes landing with their noses pointed up.
Their brains short circuit.
13:53 no lie, for a second...
i thought you went to antarctica to prove a point. lol. i havent wake up yet🤣😂😂😂
Really liking these new videos birdman great work as always, gladly watch more but still need that eew cinemasins the crow
Ish believes he's highly intelligent. He's just a very good business man.
We need waaaay more of this!!!
hmmmm.. If we where living on a flat Earth, wouldn't we all see the same stars in the sky??? I mean shit I am not a smart man but I would think if we were all standing on a flat Earth wouldn't we all look up and see the same stars or am I wrong?
Slight correction 5:39, he was not wrong-Ish. He was completely wrong. (This is a joke don’t yell at me😐)
Been a fan for a while now, videos like THESE, are a an absolute GO!!!!!
It’d be dope if you made more debunking videos like this
Please do more content like this! It's been a great video to listen to.
A subtitle to this video could’ve been “let’s see a bunch of people not know how how big the Earth is”
I agree with everything you said, I’m not a flat earthier and hell me and my friends actually joke about them
Oh Im down for debunking
Circumference of the earth at the equator, about 40 million meters.
A380 wingspan, 80 meters.
We are but a speck of dust in the grand scheme of things.
Lord jamar went off about flat earth on the godfrey podcast too. The ignorance is concerning. Thanks for a bit more perspective on why some folks might believe this stuff.
I've been enjoying your EWW and movie review videos for years and if you slamming on idiots is going to be a new thing, then I'm here for it. Not only do you insult people, but you take the time to do reasearch if you don't know an answer and give quality content.
Keep it up!
@6:52 absolutely right, and your point is backed up even more by the fact that multistage rockets exist. Each stage in a step rocket has its own propellant and engines that get jettisoned as they are no longer needed, and this even being necessary for rockets using powerful fuel and designed to go straight up makes a plane flying off the earth seem even more ridiculous
Great video man, hope it prevents some people from going down the flat earth conspiracy rabbithole
I love these Debunks!
RIGHTT!?
This video gave me liking of science than what highschool taught me. (Ngl, I like science, but it’s hard to learn from the subject, you just said fluently)
I like these cause I can get educated while I'm doing work.
Hell yeah this is becoming a series!
These probably aren’t your most popular videos but I’ll watch every single one with glee! Th3Birdman suffers no fools and I’m here for it every time
I really like these types of videos. I hope that you do more if you feel like it.
Another Birdman video dunking on dumb conspiracies? Hell yeah!
Professor Dave explains would obliterate these guys.
Yeah, but I'm sure by now he's tired of explaining every way their conspiracy makes no sense
Professor Dave ripping Flat Earther Dave in a live stream was the best
I really thought his Globebuster video put an end to flerf crap for good. I had too much hope for humanity
Oh lord what Joe do this time? 🤦🏾♂️
Joe wasn’t even in this Patreon ep
Nice, video about flateartherers made on my birthday. Thanks! Btw these "icewalls" somehow reminds me Lovecraft and his hidden mountain ranges in Antarctica...
we debunking ancient aliens next?
i love this video. u are so smart u explin everything in an easy and understandable way
Aircraft have flown over Antarctica, the main reason why they don't is that it doesn't lie between two major airline hubs. The great circle route between Sydney and Santiago only passes over sea ice, not the continent itself. Of course, the concept of great circle routes goes way over flat earther's heads.
Love you, Birdman!
Da govment don’t won’t yous to know 😂😂😂
That had me cracking up.
Good to see more people who're not mainly "globe-youtubers" standing up to this idiocy.
Shame this is necessary, but here we are in 2024 having to "discuss" the shape of the planet...
I've thoroughly enjoyed this series, I'll admit I'm not one who's watched your gaming content (don't hate me), but this has brought me in despite only previously watch EWWCS series
take a model globe, glue 2 laser pointers to each pole a few degrees off perfect axis (off center for the kids). spin the globe with a floor and ceiling or a wall on each side, observe the relative spin from the laser pointers.
This video did a great job about making me realize how cool this planet it, I never pieced together that if you live in the southern hemisphere you’d see different stars from the north that’s cool asf
Honestly, hearing Birdman’s soothing voice explain stupidity and why it’s stupid is exactly what I needed to start my day ☺️
The algorithm has finally brought you back to me after the drought i had since godzilla vs kong did it suck. Good shit birdman!
Ahhh. I had to begrudgingly agreed with Joe Budden recently so this was a good pallate cleanser. Thank you 🙏🏽
Oh shit... I love the recent diversity in content brother💪🏾💪🏾
Please continue making these debunking videos
