They are in their late 50's and early 60's now!
jerry dammers left the band not long after . shame he wrote most of their music. saw the specials with jerry at the police picnic in 1980.
Yep pretty rad crowd for that time. I saw Dinosaur Jnr in Shibuya in 92 and everbody was made to sit down in their seats, mind you saw Fugazi in a small club in Shinjuku same time and was complete anarchy lol.

Tears on my face, from both joy - because of the absolutely incredible live footage shown here - and sadness - due to the tragic news of Terry Hall's death... R.I.P., thanks for the great and energetic tunes in those dark times, back in the day...
Tears here too. I saw them about 5 months before this show. One of the best shows I have ever seen.
This is so good I cried when I saw it. Literally
Well it's 2021 and after absorbing every possible Specials video I will have to recommend this show as perhaps their best complete performance available.

I have watched Gangsters a dozen times this week to learn to play, what an unbelievable version. The ska chaos at 37:00 is unparalleled in Specials video history, between Neville bouncing his congas, to Roddy's beer can, to Jerry almost getting hit in the face with the mic stand at 37:28 as Terry smiles, they never miss a beat. Ska madness at it's finest!

I just ended reading Horace Panter books, and he describes the Japan tour, mentioning this tremendous concert, and the congas incident. Thanks for this video, it's a treasure for ska lovers!

How good is this - The Specials at their peak playing an incredible gig with the crowd absolutely jumping and energy just bursting from the screen!!!!!! What I would give to have been in the middle of that beautiful mayhem 😂

1980年、ここにいました！サンプラザ中野のライブ、余りにも客が押し寄せて危険なので当時のディスコ（ツバキハウスだったかな？）で数回に分けてライブ

This is best Specials set
Terry really seems to be enjoying himself doing this gig and his vocals are in fine form. Also, i dig the horn arrangement during Do the Dog which sounds pretty rare compared to most other versions. Also, while Neville is crashing his congas I noticed Roddy trashing an empty beer can, great footage to be watched repeatedly. Five stars!

I just turned 50 last year ! First time I saw the specials was 1980 on the 2 tone tour with madness ! The beat ! The selecter & the body snatchers " I think" have seen them about 4 times over the years ! Still just as great today as they were then ! My favourite songs are nite klub & gangsters !

これ大昔先輩から見せてもらったんですよ。
音質も画質(まあまあ)もいいですね。
このライブってピーター・バラカンがコーディネートしてたんですね。
中野サンプラザでやるはずが、客をステージに上げちゃダメって施設だかと揉めたそうで、やむを得ずツバキハウスに変更。
サンプラザからお客さんの誘導もバラカンさんがやったとかw。
それから、客さんはあんまりスカっぽくないw
前の大阪？だかの公演で乱闘がおきて、サンプラザ側が客が立つのを禁止したそうです。客が踊れない会場でやりたくないとスペシャルズ側がライブハウスに変更。収容人数をカバーするために１日２回公演になったそうです。ピーターさん、色々活躍してとのですね。知りませんでした。
