when I was 15 I bought London calling, I thought it was the best music I ever heard, 25 yrs on, I still think the same. best album I ever owned. the clash are the best
it's crazy how good at bass Paul got in just like 2 years
My dad was a punk, he introduced me the clash and I'll be forever grateful
The last tour with Topper. Such a fantastic, creative and energetic drummer--it still hurts that he wasn't around for the last few years of touring.
The things Joe Strummer taught me as a performer, I still take to heart. The way he just gives all his energy on stage, and so clearly and strongly believes in what he and his band's doing there. It's inspiring.
I was 17 and I was there. I still remember the excitement on that night. I miss the time when the music was good.
The Clash released their first album in 1977 and in this year, 1982, released Combat Rock, going through Give em enough rope, London Calling and Sandinista. In 5 years........ that progression is utterly incredible and comparable with the Beatles 63 - 69 run of albums. Astonishing.
I was there, but it wasn’t on 2nd January, later than the 2nd. Because I remember I went to the gig after school. I couldn’t focus on classes after the gig for a while. I was a kind of state of shell-shock after seeing this performance.
Really wish I lived back in these days to see all these great bands!!
Fun fact: London Calliing was based off a phone book & Strummer used that to name the song. (I wasn't born to even know that until my dad saw my London Calling cassette tape & remarked how thats how the phone books were named in the '70's). Haha! 😂 God bless The Clash! 🫡❤🇬🇧
Seeing them on thursday 29th of may 1980 was the best day of my life. Magical and spiritual experience.
I saw them at the Rainbow, Islington 1978,,changed my life as well,, i was 14. Still love them now. R.I.P Joe Strummer : )
You know a concert is gonna be outstanding when they start off with some Ennio Morricone before playing a single song.
I sure do wish there was more footage of Topper. Phenomenal drummer.
なつかしや。この中にいたのは昨日の事のよう。明日8月21日はジョーの誕生日。生きてる限りこのコンサートは忘れない、クラッシュは永遠。
I was fortunate to be a teenager in the 1980s UK , with UK bands : THE CLASH, THE SMITHS, THE JAM, i wouldn't swap it for any other decade, " Joe Strummer R.I.P "
Minute
great upload of the greatest band ever
What a great film this is!
The Clash are now firmly established among my top five bands!
