Most important thing to remember is when you start, begin as close as to the edge as possible. You have press down with enough resistance to hear the a cutting noise. If you don’t press hard enough, there will be almost no noise. Also- it has to be done in ONE firm slice, don’t go over the area multiple times.

A brand new glass cutter only costs about $4 at any home improvement store. The one in the pic is about $20. The $4 is fine too.
