I just got mine today, and actually was more impressed than I expected. Very beautiful in Silver, and the black box really presents well. I'm an American, and a few Sovereigns. I mostly do Silver, and some Gold, and I think that the Silver edition fits my style. It's not an investment, just a piece that I will enjoy. I don't care about the 50,000 run, I'm just glad to have one.
I bought it today as well! It is a magnificent piece of history and to be honest, it surely looks more majestic than the gold one!! At least the proof edition… Now, whether they will release a bullion version in the future or not, I really don’t think so. That is why, hurry up…before it vanishes!
Regarding 7:31, if you examine the Royal Mint's website for the 2025 Silver Sovereign, their depiction shows the Certificate of Authenticity as being held inside by the elastic strap under the lid of the black lacquer case. However, in reality the actual size of the Certificate of Authenticity is too large to fit inside the case. Therefore the Royal Mint needs to notified that their product depiction is a misrepresentation of the actual size of the Certificate of Authenticity.
I think it's a beautiful coin. So much so, that I think I'm going to buy one. I think it's worth £80. I've spent more on coins less historic and beautiful. Thanks for the video Sy!
Great video, Sy. Beautiful piece! 🔥 I agree, its a lot to pay for 8g of silver, but definitely a piece of history as its the first silver Sovereign from the Royal Mint ❤🔥
Regarding 0:19, the Royal Mint 2025 pure silver sovereign coins with privy mark cost £125 each. Their limited edition presentation is 15,000 coins. The silver sovereign coins have the same diameter of 22.05 mm and the same weight of 7.98 grams as the 22 karat gold sovereign coin. However, the silver sovereign is 68.4% thicker, because its thickness is 2.56 mm compared to the 22 karat gold sovereign which has a thickness of 1.52 mm.
Great Review, it was very thoughtful. I am an American, but I think it is a unique piece. Definitely overpriced, but it is for appreciating art and history. I ordered one for $115, including shipping. I have a few Sovereigns, I like the design of St George and the Dragon. Maybe not an investment, but hey, buy what you like, and there aren't any other options!
I am a USA collector of Sovereigns, love them. From an eye candy perspective, it is worth the money paid. Obviously, what you're getting in value it is not worth it. I have fallen to the side of wait 6 months and see what the pricing does. I believe your correct that it will be cheaper on the secondary market.
I accidentally had a bit to much to drink and went crazy and got the Premium Silver Proof Coin. I know its a lot of money but will look nice on the shelf and is a reminder not to do drunk online coin shopping. Is a little annoying that the COA dont fit in the box. Still a nice video of whats to come.
There is no denying that it’s a beautiful coin( if you’re a collector and want to pay 10 pound a gram for silver, then knock yourself out 👌), but the thing I’m not comfortable with is that they call it a Sovereign 😱😱. It’s a sovereign look alike, nothing more 😱. Thanks for sharing SY. J🙋🏻♂️.
Great vid Sy, not for me but great to see someone delighted with it! I predict they'll drop the mintage next year, and the year after, until it quietly gets discontinued...until it's time for 'the first evah King William Silver Sovereign!!?!' Can't really go wrong as a collectir piece if you love it as it's obviously the first ever, smashing little treat for yourself 🙂
I can understand why you bought it sir you like the design and you collect we are all differant that's one of the joy's of stacking or collecting personally i would have put a extra £5 to the £80 and brought a gram of gold i just couldnt pay £10 for a gram of silver with a fairly high mintage great video sir and happy stacking and collecting 😃

I have a Valcambi combi-bar I'm willing to break up. Will give you a 10g Valcambi bar for the 8g'er. Final offer. 🤪 Seriously, completely agree with you about the Pistrucci history. Love the design. I'm sure you'll be much happier in the future that you bought one now. Cheers ! PS: Yes, a bullion issue would be a huge win for the Royal Mint -- even with milkspots. 🤣
Saw an advert for it in the Metro yesterday for a special offer of 70 quid....cant remember the company. A lot of money for the silver content, but a lovely looking coin nonetheless! Great video Sy. No chance I can see them not doing Bullion versions as will be a major cash cow.
I bought this and i knew i was being ripped off, but it was released in a year when my 3y/o son has watched the 'new' Wonka film non-stop all year and been asking me for a silver sovereign. It's a Christmas present for him to have a prompt in years to come to remember those memories and his innocence. £80 for that is an absolute bargain
It is a lovely coin! If they were 25/30 quid I’d be ordering one today 😅 nice bit of history but I’d prefer bullion strikes so hopefully they come out. Great video thanks
I think cute is the right word and not the end of the world that the premiums are high if you can afford it and are happy to pay it then why not just not for me personally. Nice looking tho don’t get me wrong
It's a beautiful coin. I too am an absolute sucker for this design, it is iconic. I can fully understand your reasoning for buying it, despite the HUGE premium. It makes a wonderful gift to yourself is probably the best and only way to look at it. Despite the premium, you are still laughing when it comes to the real fools that buy silver from.... Pandora !
Great video. At least if they don’t sell any others you will have a uniquely numbered coin. 😂 I thought you might have had no. 1. 🤣 Still a nice coin though very expensive for what you are getting. Thanks for showing it off. 🍻
Nice looking coin but far to expensive for a 50k production run. If it goes into full bullion production I might get a tube of them, see what happens. Great content.
I would probably contact the Royal Mint about the COA - this is a really irritating oversight and takes all the joy out of having it all as a nice little package. Nothing worse than getting the coin out in 2034, when Charles shuffles off his mortal coil, only to realise with real irritation the COA is not there. Very strange that when you view the Royal Mint website this card is slotted into the lid - with the bespoke elasticated COA holding band. It would at least be interesting to know if it was intentional, an oversight, or if they are completely unaware of the issue. I would guess there has been extremely high demand and the proper boxes have run out, or there was some sort of mix up between the printers and marketing. I would say that even if you call then 3 times over the next 3 months, you may get 3 different answers, so it is not guaranteed you will get a properly researched answer, but some excuse someone made up on the spot.
Hah! the COA doesn't fit. What kind of operation are they running. I was thinking, well the premium is for the box then, but then they got a smaller box and didn't rethink the COA dimensions. Hilarious. Well you bought it. Everyone thought it was a minger. That said, you'll have a rare collectible if no one picked it up.
In case of this coin in 5 years costs 1000 pounds because of the collectible value we all going to laugh. I will buy 3 pieces and if it gets cheaper I will buy more. Gambling is my hobby

Great video Sy, expensive silver 😊, the COA is way too big, you are right 😊
Yes, that was very confusing as the box is made to hold a COA!
Sy, well done, awesome video! Your opening left me laughing out load, very funny Sir.

Thank you very kindly mate!
7:49 that's well frustrating why have they done it like that 😵💫

Looks like the The United Kingdom's first £20 coin from 2013, except that was 15g and only £20. It was only Brilliant Uncirculated though.

“That would be me then… what a knob”😂😂😂
Modern gold/silver coins with this mix of polished and rough surface is not my thing, and to top it off with such a price yeah... thats insane
A box inside a box inside a box inside a box… probably could have charged less and just removed one layer of box in packing to make up for it.
Absolutely gorgeous

Hello all
Nice coin
It is a beautiful coin.
Might even be one of the RM coins now being made of recycled silver from scrapped computer circuit boards.
There are pieces of copper worth tens of thousands. The percentage of silver is irrelevant. If you like it enjoy it.
No milk spots at least, from what we can see.

Thanks for being a knob on our behalf! 😂 of course it's pretty but nah! Happy with my £13 gibraltar silver sovereigns lol

I think the coin is really an stunning piece, but please the price for a high mintage silver sovereign coin is just too high, so not for me.
please lord don't tempt me!!! lol

The COA not fitting in the box is pathetic, typical poor performance from the Royal Mint😟
We love the Royal Mint, Farage, Saint Andrew, and our King Charles. Without them our lives would be without any love.
Price is excessive, even for a proof. Nice box though.
hmmm £10 per gram, hope it comes with free milk spots for that price 😃
Me too it's in my logo
Does look nice in the capsule. I'd rather get 2 nice crowns for slightly cheaper than this 8g coin.
With 20% VAT i won't touch it.
Well, official mintage now = 1 🤣
Do you think I'm the only person in the UK to buy one? 😂
I'm buying an 1875 crown instead for about the same price, much nicer.
Beautiful coin but not worth it at 8gm of silver. I'd be afraid to sneeze and see it fly across the room.
Stunning coin, silly price.

Hehe cough cough crypto col
Silver can never be sovereign..
I think it's a really nice piece just way overpriced! standard for the RM
Stopped buying from RM as they're hugely overpriced and quality isn't great. As for this Silver Sovereign, might look shiny but personally think it's overvalued for such a small amount of Silver and a large mintage supply.
The COA doesn't fit because it looks like the boxes came from Temu. Great looking coin. Fail presentation.
This is the worst value coin the Royal Mint has ever produced. It's a psychological con as people equate the small size with the gold coin. And it's not a Sovereign, a Sovereign is the gold coin. This is a small silver coin in an expense box calling itself a sovereign.
It's only a con if people don't have a choice. I hear you though, you're not one for change and that's all good. You're not alone in thinking a Sovereign should be gold only!
Like to be paying that for 8g of silver I was all for it until I seen good old royal mint pulling people’s pants down once again
