They've demonstrated inserting this zip just as though it was a closed-ended one, which is confusing for beginner sewers. It's a separating/open-ended zip like you would use on a jacket, so this should have been a much easier sewing task; you can detach the two halves of the zip and sew one half to each side of your garment separately. So long as you line both zip halves up with the bottom hem, the two sides of the garment will line up when you're done. You can always fasten the zip while you're pinning on the second half, just to make sure everything's aligned, and then separate the zip before you start stitching. This method removes at least half of the problem of the zip tab being in your way when you're sewing!
Very useful video.Thanks. When I stitch over the zip .... things get clumsy and wrong. I just cannot match the two parts of the zip perfectly. Do you have any tips for this?
Thought they are meant to end the same at top and bottom. Hers was longer at top on the second end by quite a lot actually and the zipper didn't lay nice and flat even after pressing it hers was wavy. I thought stitching should of been closer to zip teeth. And also the top stitching closer to teeth
I thought zippers were supposed to be concealed, (unless it's a fashionable feature of the garment) - after all they're not the prettiest of things. This one looks ugly and puckered - you should slightly stretch it when sewing to avoid that happening.
I appreciate the "pretty" edit but you should just do videos in one shot so we can see everything you're doing. Very hard to understand video thumbs down
Hi! If I want to sew a bigger zipper on two stripes of artificial fur. I have tried, I did it, but in the end the zipper is curved. What can I do to fix this? Thank you.
+smtel She is using a zipper foot. Check the indentations on either side of the foot. If you notice at the end of the video, she was able to slide the foot from side to side as needed.

Zipper tight and this defect in manufacturing
You’d think the manufacturer of the zipper could produce a much better, clearer, easier, video of installing a separating zipper.
I don’t understand your criticism! I thought it was a good, instructive video.
Can you please give a link for the zipper foot you’re using here?

would this work for sewing a zip onto plastic?

You're just not that good at sewing, that's why you can't keep up. You need to start with the very basis.
