I hope they never stop making these 80s nostalgia movies
The 80s genre will go on awhile, because the 90s, 2000s, and 2010s have no identity and nothing to be nostalgic about.
The 90s were just as great as the 80s. Well, the very early 90s were, anyway. After 94, things just went stupid.
Maybe, but it's not about "great." It's about having a clear identity. The 60s have that. The 50s too. The 80s. The 90s really don't. The 90s were good in many ways and things happened (like they always do). But there's no real identity, no strong "sense" of the 90s. Maybe very defining things happened in your life during that time, but the historical decade of the 90s has no real strong identity. I may not be explaining it well, but hopefully you get the point.
@@Kube_Dog THIS! Exactly how i feel!
you must not have been alive during the 80s. it was the without a doubt the most ridicule worthy and embarrassing decade in all of american history in pretty much every way possible. and that says alot considering the current situation and events we are now witnessing in this country
This is a HIGHLY UNDERRATED movie. Such a shame I ended up finding out about this movie 2 years later. The music. The ambience. The story is terrifying. And the end is even more horrifying...
The ending shocked the hell out of me, the implications and actions and the way it leaves things. I was gasping.
"Even serial killers live next door to somebody". Such a simple and easy line but still something to think about.
@yo_hello that’s what makes it even more terrifying the ending with no answer wondering will the killer come back we are left clueless just like the character Davey the absolute fear of not knowing
You've got the fat kid, the cool kid, the nerd and the smart low self esteem kid.
Alright all those characters are checked.
you forgot cute popular girl who somehow ends up hanging out with the nerds and falls in love with one of them.
Cough cough “IT” cough cough
Christian Chodeszz Not everything that has a similar storyline/Character plots are the same.
They forgot the token black.
your forgeting the token black kid, which this movie is missing lol
I just found out before Stranger Things existed, there was a whole decade like that called the 1980s. Turns out a lot of writers grew up in that era and were influenced by the music and movies of the time period. Maybe that's why it is used in movies now...
PokeFan487 i also figured out something! what your saying is completely subjective and negative!I also figured out every movie ever is out to make money!i also figured out i made a comment like this on a movie a few years back and i now love that movie but cant remember the name! What im saying is wacth the movie instead of being negative and see if you like it
David Hassan He’s right tho, this film doesn’t look like anything we haven’t already seen.... You ARE allowed to judge a trailer because a film trailer is designed to intrigue it’s audience however this does quite the opposite for me.....The plot seems bland and generic, the characters seem uninteresting and cliche (for example you have the typical average teenage boy who misadventures with a group of awkward friends who has a crush on the hot girl next door, who also secretly likes him or alludes to it) the music used also sounds like uninspired retro. The only thing this trailer is relying on is the 80s nostalgia. Which is just beginning to become overused now.
@@thechosenone2294 agree all the way
I found out before Stranger Things existed, there was a movie called, Absentia by Mike Flanagan that was the entire basis for the Stranger Things series.
princeoftidds I grew up in the 80’s. It was the beginning, when a ton of cool stuff started to take off... video games, comic books, awesome movies...
80's nostalgia constinues to flourish
rear window 80s style
So the 80's are now the 50's nostalgia ride
?
jukeboxx in the 80's , the nostalgia was for the 50's . It was everywhere , now the nostalgia is for the 80's . So the 80's are now as nostalgic as the 50's
nostaligiaception, duhh !!!!
I don’t understand why this movie didn’t blow up 😂
It should have made big screen. Hopefully it's a sequel
such a good scary movie with a stand by me/IT stephen king vibe
I could definitely see that!
Yeah it also gives stranger things vibe
YES!
Finished watching this movie amazing 10/10
I just finished watching this movie and wow, was it great! Regardless of what generation you're apart of, you'll love it. But to those of us who grew up in the 80's, this film will provide you with nostalgia in ever sense of the word. Whether it be the look, the feel, or the sound, it's pack to the brim with sweet nostalgia. The thing I like most is that it's not overbearing, because they did such a good job with individual character development and the overall story. Don't think twice and watch it!
okay
Just watched it. Loved it. Hope they make some sort of sequel.
That ending was horrible as fuck. Honestly, NO POINT in killing the bigger kid (can't remember his name.) Then boom killer is on the loose. Absolutely retarded. Basically set it up for a sequel that would be utter shit.
@@christianhelton5838 The end was just WTF
Dazed Humanoid I like to disagree... killing the kid at the end was expected yess... but in my views just catching the killer at the end with no struggle would be to easy of an ending. The ending basically was what made it way scarier... it reminds us that that’s how real life is ... the bad guy sometimes wins and there’s not a happy ending
I'm pretty sure Stranger Things Fans are gonna show up here by any minute now...
You do know the stranger things dynamic is a mix between movies that have existed for 30 plus years?
this is a genre now, so id move on, its a thing.
I thought this was Stranger Things
howdy
Jacob Angeles mee🤚😍
UHH You mean fans of 80s buddy adventures
Watched this recently and have to say I was extremely impressed. I am not often blown away by movies, but this atmospheric thriller was a rare gem.
This movie is great. I loved every scary creepy minute of it. Total 80s vibe. Absolutely creepy. The quality is great, the story line is interesting. U are connected to all the kids.. The villain is a nightmare. Watch it. Total recommend
wow youre gorgeous
6/10 at best
How do you know it's 80s vibes, you're not even from the 80s 😂
@@GM-hb1gm I was 13 in 1980. This trailer alone is drenched in 80s nostalgia.
@@napoleonsolo5929 ohhh please, am from the 80's too, and it's not related at all, so hey enjoy your nostalgia
I wish this had a sequel. I watch it every night before sleep . the nostalgia soundtrack is A1
Look up a RUclips channel called “new retro wave” they have all the nostalgic retro tracks fam
Every night huh?! That’s impressive.
This was actually an amazing movie, suspense in every single second.
Highly recommended!
Stand by me + The Black Phone + Disturbia = SUMMER OF 1984
Disturbia: 80s Edition.
u mean rear window wich is the original
Disturbia: Rear Window 2000s edition
Rear Window, What Lies Beneath
I highly recommend this movie! The trailer doesn't do it justice.
Ima watch it rn 🤓
Poor Woody I didn't expect that
Lee Jizzle I honestly was upset! I went “Aww buddy whyyyyyy!?????”
where did you watch it ?
I finally managed to watch this last night and it was hands down the best film I have seen in a long time. I can’t get the end out of my head. Amazing work!!!
Christ stranger things didnt invent kids going off and doing stuff together.
Kevin Young these young stranger thing fans missed out on the goonies :(
I'm 41 and love Stranger Things!
and Stand by Me, Monster Squad, ....
I mean, did they say otherwise though? They probably never saw the original IT or any of the other horror/kids movies because they are young. We are just getting fucking old and kids don't care about our old movies. Even if they did watch them, why would they reference old shit, as good as they are, when they could reference modern shows/movies instead that everyone has seen ?
Goonies did that!
I don’t think anyone understands how this movie had me absolutely SHOOK. just watching this trailer back gives me chills
Marty : When are we Doc?
Doc: According to the time machine its 2019 but all the TV shows and movies say that its still 1985? Great Scott!!
Marty : Oh , this is heavy
I love 80s and 90s those were the good times to live.
Dude, the 80's where a time of civil unrest, constant threat of nuclear war, a recetion, the AIDS outbreak, etc, etc
They where not the best years to be alive
@@jesusramirezromo2037 No, they weren't, but I made the best of it.
Well goddamn that ending was dark. Got me looking over my shoulder now
This movie should have made big screen and had a sequel. What were they thinking?????😠 I watch this just about every night before bed it's so good.
I hope they never stop making these types of 80s slasher movies in these days great stuff exactly what i like.
Please make a sequel like 20-30 years in the future with all the characters grown up. Kind of like Stephen kings it chapter 2 when it comes back. That would be such an amazing sequel.
This movie was phenomenal for so many reasons. Cannot wait to see more from these directors
Best movie of the year so far the suspense is out of this world and the end is even better
just watched it scary AF
I agree.
This is a good movie and the soundtrack isn't something to miss. Everyone should give it a watch.
Guys I just watched this movie, I will not give any spoilers but let me tell you this is a true HORROR movie and it is very terrifying the ending just blew me away; I have not been genuinely scared watching a horror movie in years and the ending really freaked me out, like very scary. Very well made movie, hats off to writer and director but just be aware this is definitely a HORROR genre movie super scary, and in a way that you never see coming. I was expecting a Stranger Things vibe, but no this makes ST seem like an after school special, just saying.
so what exactly was your job on the film
a member of the audience, highly recommend this movie but not for kids, way too scary for anyone under at least 15 and the thing that amplifies it is you never see it coming until it hits you
@@jnazorn0t pmsl like what we already knew who the killer was so what was the twist
ramona solomon yes we knew who the killer was what I did not see coming was the change in the tone of the film from a thriller/mystery basically to a straight up HORROR twisted psycho fest - I'm talking about the very ending of the movie - don't want any spoilers but one of the deaths really totally shocked me; again not a shock in who the killer was but the DRAMATIC shift in tone in about the last 10 or so minutes
I agree with you, that ending was totally unexpected and left the suspense alive after the movie ended, totally terrifying.
THIS MOVIE IS ACTUALLY SO GOOD OMFG
just saw it scary AF
Nina Lopez yea and RIP Woody
Crap
i loved it
@@jnazorn0t yes the ending is scary af no joking
I loved when they were wondering what the chemical was that the cop had and the kid pulls out a massive encyclopaedia 💙
This kid's dad is most clueless cop since Dewey in Scream
It's funny all these people calling this a Disturbia ripoff when that film was a ripoff of Rear Window. Fright Night? The Burbs? Who cares.
The burbs. What a great unoticed movie.
Damn I just posted almost this same comment verbatim lol.. Oh well
Those "people" are called, 'Millennials'.
Just saw this movie......seems like they will do another....this will sure be a cult classic
I am not from the 80's but 80's always gives me a nostalgic feeling - probably because it's the better of 90's
Propably the best movie of 2018 i watched and believe me i watched many!
WHAT??? MAN THE FINAL WAS TRASH ARE YOU FUCKING KEEDING
For me the final was totally unexpected and the suspense continued after the movie ended, that surprised me in a good way. Great and unpredictable ending!
@@lordsilver14 agreed... definitely gave me the creeps, haha.
same
@@lordsilver14 true
Just watched this last night as part of my 31 Nights of Fright.
Enjoyed and recommend this.
Aside from typical over exaggerated movie dialog from kids and "cause movie" time clocks I think they did a great job.
Saw this yesterday and loved it! I highly recommend it!!!
Holy crap the movie got so frickin dark at the last 15 minutes jeez! Great movie 👌
Just finished watching. So awesome!!
the end is heavy and intense!!!!
Watched this few days ago..
Brilliant 👏
I wasnt going to give this movie a chance after seeing the trailer. I am so glad I did, this movie is def. worth a watch, it sucked me and kept me interested the entire time. And the ending was good, didn't expect it go the way it did. Will definitely watch this again.
Epic movie love it because it’s based off of the 80s it kept me very interested throughout the entire movie 10/10. Great stuff hope they never stop making movies like this one.
84, I was 16, the best summer of my life, end of line.
Okay, I need a sequel after that ending.
As a 80s lover,I just watched and all I can say is it -is-AWESOME. It could be a little better with producing but it rocks anyway.
Don't need to think, just watch it and you won't regret, trust me.
This was awesome!!!!! I loved Turbo Kid as well. The directors are the best! Retro 80s movies are so cool. I loved the Polybius cameo as well. Nice!
3 years later just saw the movie it was so great
I literally shat my pants like 84 times during this movie. 10/10
This movie was freaking amazing!!! Kept me in suspense the entire time! 10/10👏🏽
NI WiLL me too it’s amazing and suspenseful great movie.
The movie is amazing but also really scary
What a fantastic movie!! 80’s nostalgia!!! I was born in 1984
Love watching the 80's themed stuff, not really sure why though but it hits the right spot for some reason.
Good music in it a throwback feel. I'm like 45 minutes into it on Showbox. Download from Google hint. So far it's suspenseful. ...... update: just finished watching and I did NOT expect that ending. Wow. Shocker😞😞😞😞!!!!! great movie. I give it an 8 out of 10 and I'm anticipating part 2. The young men acted their roles very good.
got to love an 80's movie
The soundtrack in this movie is absolutely amazing
Actually a very good movie. Surprisingly good.
I liked it. The 80's was a magical time.
I loved this movie. This is a homage to those 80s movies but at the same time is fresh and original.
Looks good. The cover looks so 80's I thought it was a mid 80's movie that I just happened to miss.
Just watched it, awesome movie, really. I don't know why it's so underrated.
Quem tem fascinação nos anos 80 levanta a mão 🙋🏻♀️
I like it and the ending surprised me! I hope there’s part 2!
This is one of the best movies of last year. Really good
Oh, I love it!!! Good to be back in 80's. Thanks for creators of this movie. :D
Needs more synth
Shook
THE WHOLE MOVIE IS FILLED WITH SYNTH DUMBASS
@@slowfire69 why so salty on a comment? You must be the only one forgetting to turn off your caps lock. Tough guy.
Needs more Metal imo.
Anything with synthwave music set in the 80s with some horror.. you know its gonna be good! They need to make more movies like this & it follows
This music, this vibe, i LOVE IT
This movie ruled.
Just watched this. What a great film. Blows all that super-hero shit right out the water.
Looks good, and I love the 80´s and stories with groups of friends solving misteries and riding bikes! I miss the old good times :D
You seen Stand By Me?
so underrated !!! awesome film!!!!!
One of my favorite movies ever. So good!
EXCELLENT MOVIE!!!!
I love the 80s :)
Would love to see a sequel. Summer of '85. Feels like they set it up well for one, in case they have intentions of doing so. For me, that's what made the end the best part.
Just finished watching this movie got to give it three thumbs up. Worth watching.
This was fantastic, I loved it
Travis Scott saw the movie and guess what.... ITS LIT 🔥🔥
Recommend this omg !!! It’s so good
An absolute must see/own. I bought it before watching it. Follow my lead! I cant wait to show it to my teenage nieces and nephews.
you can't do 80's nostalgia wrong with a Le Matos soundtrack
Great film. Just saw it.
Why have i not heard of this movie till now :O looks amazing
Just finished watching this movie , its is an absolute slayer !!!
this movie is so underrated aAaaa!!!! also - does anyone know of any other horror themed 80/90's movies?? i love them a l o t
Just saw this yesterday and for a loooong time i thought it was just a kids movie ...
Boy was i wrong !
Recommend it. It's a great movie and the soundtrack is sweet as hell
This movie is excellent! Highly recommend! Donno why it is not famous!
Currently watching so far love it!!! Davey looks like a John Gallagher Jr. Junior lol ( I know that means the III) but seriously looks it which gives more 80’s vibbbbe
I freaking loved it! Watched it with my whole family. SUPERB!
Great movie, twist ending which i have a hate-love relationship with.
Pmsl what twist?we already knew who the killer was
@@ramonatan4406 *SPOILER* But we didn't know that everything was going to end up so awful, the killer is free, one of the kids is dead, the group of kids separated and the kid is traumatized knowing that there's a psycho that wants to kill him.
For me that ending was totally unexpected and left the suspense alive even after the movie ended. That's great!
めっちゃ面白そう!絶対見ます!
I love that 80s music sound!!
Best movie so far this year! I was lucky to see this at Cinemapocalypse 2018. This shouldn't be mixed in with Starnger Things or Disturbia. More like "The Burbs", but with kids instead of adults. I highly recommend this film. I thought about this movie non-stop for about two weeks after I left the theatre.
Did you enjoy working on the movie?
Ending was kind of disturbing, if you think about it.
This movie sucked! The last 5 mins was the only good part and that wasn't even worth it!!!
Wow really? Then you must be a 12yr old with no life. This was one of the most boring movies I have ever seen waiting for something to happen and was a total waste of time!
Or everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
I just watched the movie and it's awsome.
I just love the movies of 80 s they are the best
This movie is underrated. ❤️
