After watching the movie, I have noticed a lot of comments about people saying the father abused her, and he's the incestuous biological father to her baby. When I was watching the movie, I thought differently. My take was Jennifer was responsible for her mother's death and had a psychotic break. Then, she burned the house down. Jennifer also sets fire to the houses after she kills Marvin and Greg. Then, her father takes her on the run, so she won't get arrested. Her father isn't perfect, but he isn't abusive. The twist at the end is that he is actually trying to help Jennifer. The stories she told were lies. Marvin seems nice at first, but he is cheating on his girlfriend. Greg shows remorse for his actions, but he cheats on both Sarah and Jennifer. Greg isn't pure evil, as he cares greatly for Lily. But he is a liar and cheater all the same. Sarah is also not pure evil, but she went through Jennifer's purse and was not honest with Andrew when she easily could have been. The characters who survived Jennifer's wrath were Greg's mom, Jennifer's father, and Andrew (not really a survivor) , but they get to live because they are pure at heart. I don't expect that Jennifer calculated her crimes to kill people who were sinning, but it is the underlying message of the story. The people that showed her selfless care lived, and those with self-serving agendas did not. I am not the writer, and a lot of people have written out good explanations , but I like mine.

I see so many comments of folks repeating the same thing over and over.. Never bring a stranger into your home. Define Stranger.. because honestly, anyone can be a stranger. You can spend time with them every single day and and they can message you every morning "Good morning beautiful or handsome". And they'll spend every night with you and yall could be laying in bed sharing your thoughts and goals with this person and he or she will say that they have the same goals and it will seem like yall have So Much In Common. Yall are just inseparable. You thought He or she was really the One.. the One you've been waiting for for so long. Time passes and yall end up moving in together and then a little after that.. that's when they start to show their True Colors. He or she has become Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. That person whom you thought was The One turned out to be sick & twisted. So what we should really be saying is: Be careful with who you allow to come into your Life Period. Anyone can seem like a good man or a good woman but you gotta always pay attention to the Red Flags. There are Always Red Flags. And Honestly.. The Eyes Don't Lie. You can look into someone's eyes and tell if they're empty. Secondly.. the tone in someone's voice. Body Language is of course another one.. but it's Mainly the Eyes. I studied in Psychology so I pay close attention to these things.

Start your day with prayer and end your day with prayer.
It’s hard to find a movie these days that’s sicker than the reality we have right now. Truth doesn’t seem to matter. Everyone simply shuts out what they don’t want to believe. And they continue to support “leaders” that don’t give a crap about them.
Ever listen to that song by Paul Thorn? You might be wrong? I respect the Koran… Like the Bible people interpret it to go along with whatever they want to do at the time… For example that thing they chant when killing or doing a suicide bombing… It is similar to the Bible that says to remove the LOG in your own eye before you remove the spec in the eyes of others… It doesn’t mean to murder. They had a true story movie about a sniper in - I think it was Iraq but it might have been Afghanistan… It’s a true story where a Muslim farmer land owner protected the sniper from the enemy Muslims who wanted him turned over for execution! At the end of the movie you had to READ THE TRAILER that explained the verse’s in the Koran that stated he had a spiritual obligation to protect him even though he was an invading soldier from a foreign country. Problem is-- EVERYONE LEFT the theater and I was the only person who read this. Everyone else watched all the blood and guts warfare and apparently enjoyed what they saw! Called it a cool movie and was inspired to go and follow in their footsteps and glorify themselves in continuing to occupy their country and kill Muslims… Ever try to convince ANY soldier that he MIGHT be doing wrong? I dream of people coming to the spiritual attitude described in his song YOU MIGHT BE WRONG… But it’s just a fairytale brain dream… Humans have a history of being TOTALLY INSANE!! Each insists they have the truth! Muslims war against other Muslims over the correct direction to pray to Mecca … In the Muslim religion this is EXTREMELY important!! I don’t remember the names now but these two tribes have been murdering each other for over a thousand years each one thinking they are the ones praying in the correct direction. Muslims have many wonderful things that we need to respect. And Allah is the Arabic word for God. Not two different Gods… But when you make money selling weapons of warfare your income stops cold to zero when there’s peace in the world! Don’t you think they might conspire to make a war? Or maybe they will find a place to store all those weapons they no longer have a buyer for! I’m sure filthy rich people are going to suddenly be willing to live with a bare trickle of money after they are used to living in the lap of luxury- the best life money can buy. Muslims are proud of their food. They will not poison you. They might cut your head off or commit violence in some other way but food made by a Muslim country is pure and honest! I bought olive oil from Tunisia… Oils are extracted using hexane that poisons the consumer’s liver! It should be outlawed but people only care about MONEY… Tunisian olive oil has a proud history… I educated myself with RUclips videos about Tunisia. It’s a cool place to visit right now… But you must respect their religion. I watched a trip made by a Christian American woman traveling alone… She was not persecuted for being a Christian. She simply respected their rules and enjoyed her trip… Watching made me wish I could visit too. Which group has the truth? My opinion is it’s impossible for any of us to know the truth… Including myself. But I don’t pretend to know. There are many different forms of the Muslim religion just like there are different forms of the Christian religion… I like keeping things simple myself… Shoppers are not even aware of the hexane. Most just see the lower price for the more amount. They don’t believe people in authority would allow harmful stuff in food. But they are WRONG! And children are dying before their parents die as a result of money before anything else… Problem is no one thinks their group is wrong! And human attitude will NEVER get to where that song describes.👍😇

Not disturbing (which given this particular tale should have been) but it was adequate. But the story is fantastic! Shocking, insightful, quite compelling and very intriguing. What a character study into the human mind and Ioved the balancing act with forcing us to be unsettled by Jennifer and at the same time yanking on our hearts for her. How Jennifer married to boss and when while he said her to stay away? 3rd who's father of this baby? At the end I thought her husband or police couldn't know her reality that murder anyperson before
Please tell me you're kidding?? The first man she stabbed after falling out, getting out, of the van at the beginning, is her father. Her father was molesting her. Her father is the father of the baby. The man in the freezer was the guy who was nice to her starting in the train. The man she stabbed at the restaurant was again her father trying to get her back. Her dad seemed perfectly alright at the end...like he was not even psychic...now I doubt that maybe she was the one who killed her mother and blamed her dad for that
No I would disagree..the DAD was abusing his daughter and the mother found out and so the dad killed his wife. Then continued on the abuse for years until she got away running into the woods. At the end he got her back into his spider's web to continue the abuse...that was NOT a good man..very nasty child molester/rapist .
If Jeniffer's father was not the one who killed her mom. Then who was responsible for her such condition and what was the reason behind her psychic behaviour. I think it was his father who sexually abused her and made her psychic.
Her father is a psychopath. He raped her evidenced by the rocking van in the beginning of the movie. Like many rape victims she took a shower afterwards to "clean" away the memory. She then began a frantic search to get a husband to help her care for the baby ASAP. Her father grabbed her, slapped her in the face hard, would not respect her wishes to be left alone to live her life, and insisted on seeing the baby, indicating that he knows it is his child. Her father is calm at the end not because he's nice but because he knows he's in control again. In order to avoid the police she has no choice but to move in with him and end-up being sexually abused again.
And somebody running through the woods why is it that everything I watch that's a thriller or mystery starts out with someone running through the woods?
I had a roommate they could've made a psychological thriller/horror/drama about. Took multiple law officers to get her out of the house. Warning to roommate seekers- BE CAREFUL!!

Though the writer of this movie never says it, seems that the 1st stabbed man from the van is her father who was abusing her; hence she became pregnant. Jennifer said her own mother started to figure things out which is why her dad killed her mom. The baby's father was not the man from the train nor Greg's, but her own father. Interesting I haven't seen any comments about that.
Wow, MF. You might be the first to catch all of these plot points. Well it's a movie and I think all you got to do is use your imagination is pretty blank in your face she went back to the only person she knows and that was her father even though he was a scumbag she went back to him because when you're dealing with abuse even if your father's the abuser incest you still love your father you want your father in your life the movie was a great movie it wasn't unfinished the fraternity was her father's baby that's why he said let me see the baby I want to see him that's why she didn't get attached to the baby that's why she didn't want to hold the baby because the baby reminded her of what she went through
Did u watch it? Dad killed mom, raised n brainwashed Jennifer. Raped and impregnated her repeatedly. Jennifer killed 3 people...went back to her dad on run now
Did anyone think Oh no, she's gone back to the abusive father who was the reason she was so screwed up in the first place?! It's a movie about how sick people can get and how they end up destroying everything that is in their path intentionally or unintentionally
Yeah, the way the screen clicks off as the door slams was haunting. The ending adds a lot of creepiness imo. We see this monster but then we see her parenal "source" luring her back to abuse her... It's also about generational trauma.
The reason victims stay or return to abusers is the psych term , Stockholm Syndrome. Abuse victims often have feelings for their abuser as a coping strategy. That , along with gaslighting & coercive control that go hand in hand with with abuse, often means they're too mentally ground down & conflicted to leave.
Unfortunately things of this nature are not uncommon. This is the underbelly of many many messed lives. Was a well done film. Worth a watch if ur up to such a genre.
Though i understand it was just a movie but really haunted my mind the way she played with the life of people and at the end behaved if she was the biggest victim.

@@ceemartin5624 hi Cee. Thx for your comment and I agree 100%. I would say 99.9% are NOT killers. My intention as the filmmaker was to use metaphors to express the many ways in which Jennifer has been damaged as a result of her abuse. Relationships are nearly impossible for her … she “kills” most any one who tries to love her. Her father, the “abuser”, lives on unscathed and no matter how hard she tries she can’t escape him… he (the damage done from abuse) is always with her. He’s the only one she can’t “kill” no matter how she tries. I hope this makes some sort of sense to you. Thank you so much for watching… be well…
@@nenaeskridge5372 Yes it does make sense, thanks for explaining. Jennifer will never get away from him, more than anything, psychologically because he is the root cause of her own psychological trauma: not only the sexual abuse but the death of her dear mother. That's why when Greg's mother seemed to be so understanding and caring towards Jennifer, well it seemed like she started seeing her like a mother figure and I don't know if I'm being far fetched, but maybe she was starting to 'heal' somewhat from her trauma because of her. Were you tempted in making the ending be Jennifer, Geoff's mother and the baby leaving together? Although I suppose she had to leave with her dad because she will never truly heal from what he did to her and her mother, and the ending represented that. Btw I really liked the film. I know it was done with a low budget so kudos to you and the crew for making an interesting film.

I thought id give this a go, came across it while looking through movies starring Liam Neeson. Giving this motto the stamp of approval , dont let strangers in your house
In my opinion, she is a narcissistic sociopath. She has no empathy for others and once things don't go the way she wants, she will do anything to get satisfaction and rationalizes it, by saying he/she left me no choice. The tears at the end are not remorse for the people she killed. She was feeling sorry for herself because she lost her backpack. The man at the end must be her father because only a parent would want to protect their child no matter what they have done.
Gosh no! Her father is a monster. His abuse created another monster and the cycle most likely would’ve continued had Jennifer not left her baby with Edna.
@@masausophiri3273 well it IS a movie after all...a normal person would have noticed that. If he noticed, and said something that would have changed the whole trajectory of the movie. They could have actually showed her in action at the start. A lot better than the beginning as they showed her as the victim, not the perpetrator...
Not the usual serial killer, she uses people by her slick passive presentation. Serial killers usually have good to excellent presentation and take advantage of people who are naive and are too flexible especially with a total stranger.

@@nenaeskridge5372 it honestly was what made me decide I liked the movie. It's so relatable when you've lived a similar life or know someone who has. I was VERY taken by the telling of how abuse effects an individuals mindset. I enjoy the fact we are left to speculate if her father was truly hurting her and she had a form of Stockholm syndrome or if he was truly keeping the world and herself safe from her. What was the most impactful though was the back pack ending. Her pack made her safe, even when she gets a new bag her comfort pack is with her. When she gave the baby in her pack up it was the single most selfless thing she's ever done. When he says he'll get her a new bag it just isn't the same. It doesn't hold the metaphorical weight her backpack did. Its as though she's lost everything she ever knew about who she was and what she wanted now that the bags gone. Also "how did you find me?' .....-I followed your sin. That got me too. Sin as opposed to scent. The sprinkle of religious up bringing/potential mind washing. Okay okay now that I seen your comment I understand who the old man was that was her father I think he was the father of the baby then that's why he said let me see the baby and she keeps running back to him
Scars have nothing to do with it. Abuse can drive a person insane or appear weird to others but psychopathy comes from within a person. I think they are born that way not made that way. Or a little of both in some cases.
Some kids when grown up after abuse seem to get the help and make something of their lives but other children end up so broken that it has affected their minds and they are made into sociopaths it seems.
@TheRoamingGnomad Exactly, the propensity for psychopathy/sociopathy is congenital. I had a horrific childhood, many people have had horrific childhoods, but we didn't grow up to become killers, or abusers. And some kids had a perfectly safe childhood, and yet the kid ended up becoming a school shooter or something equally violent. Biology and Environment are both important, but it's like this: "Biology loads the gun, Environment pulls the trigger." I.e., no matter how horrific a kid's childhood is, they don't grow up to be a sociopathic or psychopath unless they have the biological propensity to be. Edit: spelling (sorry, but English isn't my first language)

Test them out before marying one or get out as soon as you feel their true nature; at times, might loose out too so much, but it's necessarily essential for your life! And the lives of your loved ones 🥲😭🤮🤮🤮🤮
Times thinking you just save someone from the muds, but instead of gratitude, they'd turn around and destroy everything you have, materially, spiritually... Be warned, friends! 🙏🙏🙏

How is the movie ?
Hi 👋
Technically I'm from earth but
After watching the movie, I have noticed a lot of comments about people saying the father abused her, and he's the incestuous biological father to her baby.
Damn BlackBox I LOVE this! Never had any viewer go in this direction. Makes me sound SO brilliant (lol. I’m not) and a much better filmmaker than I actually am! thank you! I’m reaching out to you first when I finish my next film! Nena writer/director

Be aware and don't talk to strangers even when you are an adult stranger danger. If you have to, watch out and don't trust until you know them until they earn your trust
Not a bad movie and the fact that she doesn't change her jeans I think is a tell tale sign of the abuse and self esteem 😢
She was a good example on how the devil come to do.To steal,to kill and to destroy...thats his mission..and once the mission is completed,,,to disappear...That lady mission was completed and know she goes back..but pained me on hos she ruined the life of those Beautifully people...and the Mama's life have become a mistress😭😭.
your right, every day I think about the devil's intentions and how it affects so many things, while people are deceived or just don't care. When Jesus returns he will destroy all evil and wickedness.

She's sexy in those Gucci jeans for $5,000.00
Don't say that . She's just a country girl. What does she supposed to be ? Sophia Lauren ? !!!
I think she is really pretty actually
So what we should really be saying is:
Be careful with who you allow to come into your Life Period.
Yes the crazy eye 👁 haha . I have seen these types too .
They show their true colours reflecting yours ,sooner in that person you can tell your true colours. Start from within yourself
@@misteryummyearth1055 it's called Mirroring. These folks mirror your behavior. But you can't tell that's what they're doing in the beginning. The only way you'll know they're toxic is by paying attention to consistency & inconsistency.

So true
The disturbing part about this movie is she is a narcissistic/sociopath/psychopath character, could be anybody really who has drama trauma in her life and instead of talking about going to jail for murdering people this character gets sympathy from the audience.
Exactly, and escapes in the end too I wanted to see her receive justice after killing that guy, having a bad childhood doesn’t cause people to kill innocent people that are trying to help. Plus the guy Could of easy overpowered her, she only had a small knife
She belongs to be put away, locked up.
Not this audience. She was a totally unlikeable character. No redeeming qualities, at least not enough.
I would like to see in what you all could have developed if you had been in her shoes... being raoed by a father since 10...

@@TheVidkid67 lah izidek, maybe you just didn't read 2nd chapter around verse 7 a shitan, ila khasara, rkhees. Lol

The dialogue? Not sparkly, but it works.
Plot structure? Good.
Directing? Not disturbing (which given this particular tale should have been) but it was adequate.

Shocking, insightful, quite compelling and very intriguing. What a character study into the human mind and Ioved the balancing act with forcing us to be unsettled by Jennifer and at the same time yanking on our hearts for her. She seemed to be one of those rare people who were born without a conscience. Like she was handicapped, more than just sociopath, a “special needs” person who is missing the ability to see people as more than mere bugs. She had me RIVETED!

Hmmm… I like that… that Jen’s father didn’t kill Jen’s mom, Jen did? Hmmmm… thx for the comment!
Nena, writer/director
Was thinking the same
No I would disagree..the DAD was abusing his daughter and the mother found out and so the dad killed his wife.
It's kinda scary to have someone like Jennifer near you!😲😥

Though the writer of this movie never says it, seems that the 1st stabbed man from the van is her father who was abusing her; hence she became pregnant. Jennifer said her own mother started to figure things out which is why her dad killed her mom. The baby's father was not the man from the train nor Greg's, but her own father. Interesting I haven't seen any comments about that.
Wow, MF. You might be the first to catch all of these plot points. I’m the writer/director and the only time I give away the fact that Sy is her father is when he calls her Jellybean in the final scene. Jennifer says earlier in the film that her father calls her that. You really paid attention! Ty for watching!!

Its so unfair. Greg suffered for nothing
I believe that too after the baby is born, she cares very little for it and looks at it like it is a monster.
well in that case i think Jennifer's reaction is understandable especially her flinching with every slight touch
Murders unsolved, paternity unresolved. An unfinished movie.

So true..I met my carma
There is more evil going on than just that
Kind of hard to find a relationship or simple friendship these days when people always ghost you after they milk you dry. Some people get pushed too far from that shit and end up as serial killers. Maybe people should learn to not be so mean.
I agree, SN. Thx so much for watching.
Ppl ask.me all the time why am I still single,,, that I'm beautiful, have my own home, cars job .. and this is WHY ITS SO HARD TO DATE THESES DAYS.. SO IM STILL SINGLE
true but don't justify serial killers lmao, from your logic then all people would be serial killers, only weak ppl turn into such monsters
...or you could agree to marry at "catfisher." They don't even want money, no exchange at all...you are just fooled. Or the "suicide squad," target a person in school or community-- to corner into suicide....

Need a part two Jennifer ends up with the same clothes on Everytime. Killing people that get in her way.
Yeah' those things, plus she's knocked up too..I'm wondering why this movie is all chopped up? 🤔 there is parts cut out and the beginning starts from the mid..meh, shyts all messed up in this posting 📫
And She apparently got away with it , crazy
The thriller movies are more horror than the horror movies
You're damn right! I even avoid horror movies of nowadays...so artificial. The only one that stood the test of time is "The Exorcist I "
Thanks
I thought id give this a go, came across it while looking through movies starring Liam Neeson. Giving this motto the stamp of approval , dont let strangers in your house
This was a truly great movie!
Great psychological thriller movie, loved it.
Bingo! Thx so much for watching. Nena writer/director
@nenaeskridge5372
...and a very well done movie.
I look forward to more films from you. Your future is bright!
Her father is tha main culprit..he only sexually abused her in her childhood..the baby is her father's baby ..you are saying him a good father
Gosh no! Her father is a monster. His abuse created another monster and the cycle most likely would’ve continued had Jennifer not left her baby with Edna.
She's showering!! And brushed teeth . Seriously . He is complete stranger.. Crazy .
Yes that showering etc would completely freak most people out. Most men or women would throw this chick out of their house over that.
Justice was not served. What a shame
The movie ended without a tail
Chestnut Hill, Pa. That's where I was born😃 Pretty good movie, watched until the end.
Greg's mother is a really good mommy, very kind

She wasn't a good mom.. she was a drunk. And worried about going to see a random man instead of her som that just died
She limped from the car but once he replied “Yes,this my house” she ran quickly up the stairs 😒🤨
True and the man didn't notice
@@masausophiri3273 well it IS a movie after all...a normal person would have noticed that. If he noticed, and said something that would have changed the whole trajectory of the movie. They could have actually showed her in action at the start. A lot better than the beginning as they showed her as the victim, not the perpetrator...
Right! I said dang there’s nothing even wrong with her damn ankle
She was only pretending to hurt her ankle…weird he never questioned her about it….
And made it her business to take a shower in his house and brush her dahm teeth.
Not the usual serial killer, she uses people by her slick passive presentation. Serial killers usually have good to excellent presentation and take advantage of people who are naive and are too flexible especially with a total stranger.
Thx so much for watching my little film.
If my daughter kept stabbing me every time I saw her - I'd take a raincheck on Thanksgiving Dinner! Hahaha...
Some people mistake Kindness - for Weakness!
What a powerful ending. The backpack is amazing. When she handed it over...then said i dont have my backpack anymore, what am i supposed to do😢 it was powerful.
People who dont understand this movie should be greatful. It seems those who've lived similar lives took a lot from this movie.
Gosh, Yokohurama, your insightful comments are spot on… I think you’re the first to reference the importance of the backpack and I thank you for it! Nena writer/director
Brilliant
That being said if you or someone you know (obviously) relate to this movie my heart is with you all. 💞
@@yokokurama3 seriously, your observations are astounding…. I didn’t expect anyone to catch or understand half of what you’ve mentioned. Clearly we both know a bit about the topic and that breaks my heart. But also made the many hellish days spent making the film, worth it. Ty Yokokurama.
@@yokokurama3 I wouldn't say I relate to it in a personal way, it was written in a way that it makes someone like myself (easy and forgiving up bringing) think about what makes ppl who they are.
One cannot miss the catholic school girl uniform. I knew then it was going deep and for the jugular of a lot that has screwed up society.
Seriously, Laura, you noticed the uniform!? Nobody has ever noticed that.
It's a good movie but it's shady it's missing a lot of details, it can be an abox office movie if it was directed better and played by a well-known celebrity.

This was definitely an amazing movie- Witnessing your mother’s death then Being a victim of sexual abuse by her father- definitely would leave emotional scar’s ! I am a retired counselor for children of mental & physical abuse.
Thx Widow! I appreciate your comments - you hit this mail right on the head. Nena
her father, instead of fully protecting her from the sinister elements of society,he himself is one of those, these kind of people should be severely dealt with,so as not to ruin the peaceful cycle that exist,MORONS
they should love and think of ways to make their daughters lives enrich and fruitful, not doomed to oblivion, contradiction to what GOD wants to be
Okay okay now that I seen your comment I understand who the old man was that was her father I think he was the father of the baby then that's why he said let me see the baby and she keeps running back to him
I wish I knew about you many years back..back .45 years at least

So bad, I couldn't stop watching.
This movie can be real life Documentary. Shockingly there r people who prey on innocent kindness
Thank you, Bhupendra, for watching STRAY. Nena
@@nenaeskridge5372 Welcome
I am so angry that Greg, Sarah and the first man that helped her had to be killed by her. Despite her scars, she shouldn't have been so wicked.
Scars have nothing to do with it. Abuse can drive a person insane or appear weird to others but psychopathy comes from within a person. I think they are born that way not made that way. Or a little of both in some cases.
She's a serial killer and that's what serial killers do.. Kill innocent people
Some kids when grown up after abuse seem to get the help and make something of their lives but other children end up so broken that it has affected their minds and they are made into sociopaths it seems.
Biology and Environment are both important, but it's like this:
"Biology loads the gun, Environment pulls the trigger."
I.e., no matter how horrific a kid's childhood is, they don't grow up to be a sociopathic or psychopath unless they have the biological propensity to be.
Edit: spelling (sorry, but English isn't my first language)
especially the first man that helped her; so much evil in this world I wish it would end
she sleep with him without knowing his name and after that kill him just wow
Statistically it is more like men do, not women.
Childhood trauma destroys lives. The end of the movie was emotional. Her chance at success in life was minimal. Her father killed her mom. Sad story
Thank you for telling it i won't watch
That poor girl. It's sad to think about how often things like this happen in reality.
Poor to the people who got murdered not that ugly chic

This could have been a good movie if the camera person knew what they were doing. It went from dark to whiteout and the glare was intense. A simple set of filters would set up the tone of the movie.
