When I was a kid we used to have things called a lucky bag. It was basically a bag of assorted sweets with a mystery toy inside. I would expect to find a watch like those in a lucky bag today. 😂
I like these. Each of the past models were interesting designs too. I'm impressed by the adherence to their own design motifs and their clear design story. They are bright. They are fun. They are well made and happily non-conformist. I'm not a fan of the "seconds nub", that could have been more functional and still maintained the design language. The tangerine is a belter. Congratulations for putting "lacrimal" in a post. Outside of medical peeps and those with a penchant for black, velvet, brocade, and pallid skin, I think "lacrimal" is probably unknown by most English speakers.
FYI - Oil Pressed Caseback: This is done by stamping a pattern into the steel with a hydraulic press. It allows for much greater detail and texture than standard industry procedures.
Congratulations on the exclusive as super great seeing newer microbrands getting some love! By the way I'm really digging the trendy dials, especially that burnt tangerine and the GMT is unlike any I've seen before!?
These are great - super fun! Would be interested to see what the bezel marking on the Tangerine would look like on The Judge (colour matched, obviously).
Loved the original diver they did which had a French sounding name and was marketed by a free diver. However when they launched this range I was not so keen. Just looked at the website and they don’t make the other one any more which is a shame, you would of loved the bracelet Jody I certainly did.
Morning jody, well afternoon actually! Travelling this weekend to blighty on the boat. Not my bag at all and the cost seems steep for what looks like a bit of a toy. That said certainly good fun that would undoubtedly draw loads of interest!
I completely missed that second hand on the Judge, before you pointed it out. These are definitely unique looking pieces, with some nice design touches. Although 15mm thick is a little on the large side for my liking.
Love the look of that burnt orange. Attention to detail is superb. I wish there was a bit more of a downward slope on the lugs. It looks a bit too flat, and it would be accentuated even more on smaller wrists. Another great review Jody.
Own the blue night enamel dial version. Was lucky enough to grab one before they sold out pretty quickly. Awesome and unique watch in my collection. Just wish there was a bracelet for the price.
@@JustOneMoreWatch I daily drive the OG Orient Triton on a heavy Strapcode aftermarket bracelet which is over 200 grams with two links removed, so I think I could hand it or atleast like the option. I'm a bracelet guy through and through.
My heart also belongs to the burnt tangerine Isotype too, being a fan of orange dialled dive watches since I first saw one, my favourite in my collection is a Seiko 7002 modded Diver with an orange mother of pearl dial, 'tis a thing of beauty how it catches the light. I'm not sure my budget can stretch to over 1k Aussie pesos to purchase the Hydrium.
That discontinued Blue night is absolutely stunning! shame it's not available anymore. May have to keep an eye out on the used market though I suspect it will be impossible to find one.
Hey Jodie have you heard of the pulsar/Alba manta ray. I just found out about it now it's a early 2000s dive watch and I really liked it ley me know your opinions.
thanks for the review, Jody! Microbrands are always fun to learn about. The cases of these look like Titanium, strangely. In terms of design and value, I will have a Direnzo over them any time!
I like both. Been following them on Instagram for a while, some excellent designs. If I had to choose just one of these, it would be that bright orange dial.
These definitely hit the 'quirky' vibe. Not sure that either of them do it for me. Were the 'will return' version still to be had, however, I would cheerfully part with the coin to get one.
I rather like the burnt tangerine - an original dial/bezel design amongst a sea of me-too derivative offerings out there. Must mean time travel is a thing because for me to be 8 again means a long journey through time! 😆😂🤣
Great t-shirt Jody! :P the famous Ecce Homo from Borja. I hope you know the story of that "restauration"... It is very funny :) greetings from a Spanish living in Paris. Big fan of you! un abrazo!
Court is now in session. 🤣 That shirt is just S A V A G E . I'm definitely digging the finish and case shape. I like the 40/22 look as well, the colors not so much.
I love the thoughtfulness of the designs. “Will Return”. 😂 A bit pricy for a “fun watch”, but I’m not a fungi. 😉 Will keep my eye out for future releases. Thanks for sharing this brand with us!
You know what's crazy is the Owner is apart of a watch group I am in as well and I talk to him occasionally and now I'm watching a professional video about his work, idk why but that's special in a way.
A review of a dive watch by JOMW? Totally unexpected. Fun looking to be sure, but too chunky and too expensive for my taste. They seem to do a good job of marketing by doing the limited edition run etc. What is the half-life of an Isotope watch? Your watch reviews are BY FAR the best watch reviews on YT.
The tangerine IS the pick of the two and I can see why Isotope focus on limited run design oriented pieces because not everyone will like these. However, they do show some unique design language and they work as a little bir of art on the arm. Not my arm mind you! Nice reveal Mr M. Nice watches if you like em!
I had the Isotope "Cool Hunting" GMT in for review, and while it was certainly interesting, I just didn't massively bond with it. I reckon Isotope are a brand that you either love, or you just don't get.
Very industrial looking. Very bright like the Moonswatches. Interesting to look at. But not my cup of tea. I was expecting an Sw200 ETA 2824 clone at that price point. Great summer watch
"If the facts are not on your side, argue the facts. If the law is not on your side, argue the law. If neither the facts or the law are on your side, argue about the judge. If none of that works argue about the venue."
I absolutely love these watches Jody. To be honest the dials remind me of some of the more quirky Swatches, except they're made of cheap plastic, unlike these. The brushing gives them a very titanium look. I think these will call attention to themselves and will even turn the heads of non watch nerds. There is a certain toy watch look about them as someone said here, but they're refined enough to be easily recognized as not a toy. Will I buy one? No, it's only September and I've bought 4 watches this year, my limit, and I doubt these will be still available in March 2023, the next time my wallet opens! Excellent review Jody. As for preference, I could buy both of them. Maybe if I have an unexpected windfall in the meantime? 🤔
I think there is a market for fun Swatch designs with proper stainless steel case. For a cheap quartz watch, I always have to admit that Swatch makes better analog dials designs than similar price point Casio, very 'fun' and bright personality to it. If someone out there did made a stainless steel versions on some Swatch best design analogs, I would snatch that up.
@@bigboiganiga8356 Yes, totally agree. People have a love for Swatches but honestly they're just cheap and cheerful throw aways unless you get a rare collectible that you never take out of it's package. There is definitely a market for fun watch dials in a good quality steel case. I do think this company is onto something good here. Thanks for the reply. 👍
Jody reviewing another expensive watch while I'm still sitting here, waiting for a review of the North Edge Mars. That's gotta be a really slow pigeon this thing must be strapped on!
As I get older and cranky I am finding second hands irritating, there is something calming about a watch face that is relatively static. When I become a gentleman of leisure a one handed watch will do fine 😁
It’s a bit like 60’ architecture . Seemed like a good idea at the time but after a while it’s really quite naff. Sorry they are not going to score wrist presence for me.
The logo looks very similar to Long Island Watches. If I were to pick up any of these I'd have gotten the Back Later stylized one. the rest don't appeal to me
We use both! (And we spell it ‘Metres’). And not just England, but also the other countries in the United Kingdom (Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland). We’re very idiosyncratic! 😉🇬🇧
Oh man, so glad you caught up with Isotope, genuinely original looks without gimmiky illegibility. Love the Tangerine and the gmt. Didn't know they were English, that might just make the difference and push them to the top of "the list" I must say Im a little surprised by the lume and Im balancing Isotope against the Unitas diver which is in fact cheaper. with simalarly uncompromising minimal looks.
Just little bit different from other Micro Brands ,not for me this time, little pricey in my opinion,I guess is about the fun factor, 😉 unfortunately even if I want one is already sold out ,great review on tell the next review, Jody, greetings from St George Utah..👊👋Viva!! Australia 🇦🇺
I love the Judge and the Will Return, but I wish they had gone with a two-handed movement or a simple cap for the pinion. That little stump looks ridiculous, especially because, under macro, you can see that it’s literally just a regular second hand with the hand snipped off. It cheapens the look
I do like and support new brands. The isotope looks bright and cheerful and even through the pathetic lume it makes me smile. I do think they're overpriced for an unknown movement and questionable lume, I would suggest $600 would be closer to the money.
That Judge second nob makes me chuckle every time I look at it go - what a great brand thank you for sharing another great one Jody
Thanks Jody for introducing us to this brand!
The content never disappoints! Big fan of your collection
Btw, the case back was beautiful!
love the tangerine model - first watch I've seen in a long time that I can say looks original

Yes .. a lucky bag for 3$ and these watch ☺️
Wish the "Will Return" would return. Easily my favorite of the bunch!
But will will return return?
The Hydrium looks like the kid's version of a Ming watch, and that's absolutely not a bad thing imo.
Very fun, unique design, I love them both.
My thoughts exactly
Definitely the burnt orange and the night. I like the minimalist look. Thanks for introducing us to another cool micro brand. 😎👍

very unique looking.. that's a breath of fresh air

Very unique watch, no group think nor 'sheeple' design here, refreshing.
that blue night one, wow.
also if they don't do a springfield/albuquerque model eventually, I'll be disappointed.
I had an orange C3 Corvette so the orange one all the way. I like the hands on it more too.
