SAOT CAPIZ 2022: PAHID by the Municipalities of Pontevedra and Panitan

Farmers depend on rain as if it were life itself. When rain does not fall on their rice fields for a long time, the farmers and villagers pray a nine-day long marathon novena ending in a procession honoring the patron saint. When the rain comes, overjoyed farmers look forward to a thanksgiving banquet sponsored by an hermana mayor whose house hosts the celebration.
In anticipation of the muddy feet entering the house, door mats are laid to welcome the guests who each will wipe off their feet. With playfulness getting the better of guests, they came up with innovative movements such as stomping, twisting and gyrating in time with the music played by rondalla - such is the birth of the Pahid.
