    Spreadbore as mentioned above is true other than driveability. It has the best of all the worlds for a street vehicle. Small primaries for great throttle response/driveability and fuel economy. Very large secondaries for when needed. The primaries use a vacuum metering rod for better fuel control to also enhance these things. The secondaries use a fuel metering rod also but controlled by flaps above the venturies opened by incoming vacuum pressure. Chrysler's thermoquad had a plastic body, hence the "thermo" to help with vaporlocking. Now you ask squarebore well. If you go racing, you only see a Holley. They dump fuel to make power and are very tuneable. The Carter AFB/Edelbrock carb is a simple kinda design with less going on than a quadrajet. It is about in the middle for performance and economy. Application dictates the best CFM and carb type. Hope this helps as I've built/sorted/chosen countless carburators for a lot of years.

    Lee how about fab a system to hang a rack in the oven so you can pre hang the parts on a rack then powder coat slide the rack into the without touching the parts then slide the rack out to cool Mike

    Liking the powder coat setup.. good comments on the rack setup and the riser for the oven, we used heat treat ovens which all had doors that opened vertically so the hot door was out of the way.. 1700+ F probably more work than its worth for your setup but if you ever go powder coat crazy, well there your go!

    Lee, if you're going to do much more Powder Coating, do yourself a favor and place your oven on top of a shelf or cabinet to get it a little more out an even height with your booth.
    Much less chance of a transfer mishap.

    I run a similar style powdercoat setup--I found a second junk oven, cut the top off the bottom one and the bottom off the top one, bolted the doors together and it really increased the capability of the setup.
    And it was basically free cause it was just a junk oven.

    I'd put that oven on a 18 inch or so riser so you don't have to crouch down and awkwardly try and hang stuff in the oven box.

    Another great video ! Nice attention to detail - craftmanship and informative as usual. There are some great suggestions on the powder-coat set up in the comments - so I'll just say congrats on the up-grade to the shop. Sorry you miss'd out on the "T" bucket parts in your last video. That look'd like a good deal.

    This build is one of your better series/builds. It can teach/show the steps to repower any project. It takes a lot of guesswork out of a major step of hotrodding/carbuilding.

    Great video Lee! Now you need to invest in some specialty tapes so you don't have to run the die over the threads. Silicone plugs for threaded holes.

    36:49 GM Quadrajet carbs (spread bore) were made for fuel economy. Small primaries and large secondaries.
    Chrysler made the Thermoquad which was a spread bore also.

    12:25 could get another stove, hack them both up, and weld them back together to gain almost twice the height. Would just have to extend the bake element wiring with the wire from the discarded stove.

      Does it? It’s not like I’m standing there watching it the whole time haha. I just open the door, put it in, and come back 20 minutes later.
      Same as putting your favorite casserole in the oven at home.

    Cant you powder coat the parts on the rack then put the parts and rack into the oven ?

    • @LGKustoms
      @LGKustoms  4 месяца назад +1

      Probably. But the rack does not slide very gracefully going in and out of the oven.

  • @PCo-oz6mh
    @PCo-oz6mh 4 месяца назад

    Why don't you hang everything on the rack outside of the oven and then slide the rack in??

    • @LGKustoms
      @LGKustoms  4 месяца назад

      The rack does not slide in and out very gracefully and I’m worried it’ll either shake the powder off the parts, or the parts will actually fall off the rack.

    As @gordsmith7656 said below, raise it up. Washer makers offer riser units that include a finished drawer. Mine is only 12" tall, but got one free when daughter upgraded laundry equipment. Top it with 3/4 plywood and mount anything. Carl, TX
