Yes, Pretty much. But i would keep in mind that windows 10s explorer is more unstable and prone to crashes. Im also thinking of trying this with some older operating systems.
Suggestion: Do a cool experiment,Try To install VMware tools before setting up windows,When installing windows,When that crappy OOBE starts up,Click on vm and click on install VMware tools and do shift + f10 to open cmd,On cmd,Type in D: and Press enter,Then type setup.exe and press enter
@@CaptainJRW no problem,Also make sure to try this experiment during windows oobe setup not installer,If vmware tools fails to install then go for virtualbox by installing VirtualBox guest additions before setting up windows (If you don't have VirtualBox then guess I'll have to experiment this myself)
You didn't execute it from cmd properly... You weren't even in the desktop directory and you typed explorer without quotes which directs to the one in the system PATH, you need to type "explorer.exe" under the desktop directory
Hi @A_nice gaming, i can not distribute copies of windows 10s explorer, however if you download a windows 10 iso from Microsofts website and install it to a vm, you can copy the explorer from there.

Windows 11 Explorer is actually Windows 10 Explorer justo that Windows 11 taskbar is a UWP app and other things but un reality is Windows 10

Cortana does work, Its actually the weather widget but disabled. Thats what happened with me in ExplorerPatcher.

You can also use ExplorerPatcher if you want the windows 10 taskbar back, without tampering with the system files
