Never thought about a lot of these, it's quite amusing. Here's a couple plot holes of my own. 1) Olivia does say you can't unfold Folded Soldiers once they've been folded, but that's only because they've been stapled, and you can't unstaple them. Once Stapler has been defeated, the staples disappear, so Mario can hammer them and they would presumably unfold, since this is what happened with Bowser. But if you leave the area after defeating Stapler and go find more Folded Soldiers, they don't unfold after hammering them, even though they should because they're no longer bound by the stapler that was preventing them from being unfolded. 2) This one does have an answer but it's still pretty fun to think about since the one answer that does work is very unique. When Bobby tells his backstory, we know it had to have taken place after Mario began his adventure. We know this because there are Toads who greet Bobby once he's been washed up, which means Mario had already rescued some of them. Therefore, Bobby must have journeyed up Picnic Road and Overlook Mountain pretty much at the same time as Mario, and yet they never encountered each other until they met on the tram. But the answer is pretty easy: Bobby *couldn't* have gotten onto the tram until Mario cleared the red streamer, since until that point, it was--well--not working. But after Mario cleared the streamer, Bobby was already waiting there. This means Bobby arrived at the top of Overlook Mountain while Mario was exploring Overlook Tower, and if he arrived before Mario beat Colored Pencils, then he simply waited near the tram until the streamer disappeared and quickly hopped inside. Wow that was long lol
Love it! Yeah, the first one is similar to the issue of there being no post-game content. It's funny when you beat the final boss in a game, and everyone around you still asks you to defeat them. But it's weirder with the Stapler boss in Paper Mario: The Origami King because you can still go back and explore the world, having defeated Stapler, but things don't behave as expected. I really like the second one, and I was thinking about that too! I wanted to draw up a timeline of when Bobby went on his adventure and got on the cruise ship, and compare that to when Mario was at different parts of his adventure. It'd probably be surprising how many moments there were where they almost crossed paths
Nah, I think it's more likely that the great sea was the first place that Olly attacked (considering that's where he's from) and Bobby's backstory is all before Olly's attack on Toad Town and peach's Castle. Since you could've not rescued any Toads by then (and if the ones that could've been rescued that went to toad town weren't very plentiful) also it wouldn't make sense if Bobby washed up on dock unconscious and then two seconds later he's heading off to overlook mountain.
I feel like the explanation for Fact 5 could depend on Olivia’s current state, or what she’s focused on, for example... Handaconda: She’s panicked, and not focusing on the magic circle, focusing on the handaconda instead. Wall: She’s focused on the thousand fold arms, and doesnt really know how to feel. Cave: She’s too sad to even move, why would she be able to activate the magic circle? Forest: She doesn’t even know that Mario is even near the thousand fold arms, Olivia is just trying to escape-- But another plot hole I can think of is if Olivia was stuck in the ground, how would she know when Mario was about to fall?
I have a theory, when fell in the hole he fell to the volcano with bowser jr and kemak then they saved him from burning, but when mario fell they were caught off guard and then you get a game over. Then kamek telaported them to the origami craftsman's house they get the origami craftsman the they teleported back to peach's castle get Luigi's kart.
That's really interesting, that could make sense! There was a dungeon underneath the hole the first time because the castle was in its original position, and the second time you fall down the hole, the castle is above a volcano. That could be how Luigi came across and Bowser Jr and Kamek, which is why they're on the cart too, so that's a really good explanation! Thanks for the comment :)
Um, I think Olivia was the one who was responsible for transforming Mario’s hands into the 1000-fold arms. Think about it: After Mario’s arms became folded 1000 times Olivia asked him his arms are big and also explained about it. Why did ask? Because she was making sure if it worked. Also I have to mention that every time Mario needs to use a 1000-folded arms magic circle Olivia gets out of Mario’s pocket and starting to do a little... dance? Bowing? This could be another evidence that Olivia folded Mario’s arms into 1000-fold arms, that’s why you need her to do so!
That makes sense! Olly is responsible for folding Olivia, so it makes sense that Olivia is also good at Origami and plays a role in folding up Mario's arms! Thanks for the comment :)
The reason bobby had to blow up is because Olivia was getting flatter and if she got completely flat she wouldn’t be alive also it was down stream so it would have taken too long
I'm wondering if they didn't have anything else available that would have been faster than going all the way to the Great Sea, finding the cruise ship, exploring the whole cruise ship, fighting the giant blooper, and coming back! The funny thing in the game is also that you can take as long as you want with that step and Olivia will still be okay
@@ZXMany i think the point is that Bobby already had the knowledge available to him that he could retrieve that fuse, instead of spending time finding some other solution. he knows he was created to live a short life and explode, and he was fine will fulfilling that as long as he could help someone else in the process.
I do think the folded soldier point at #2 is partially a gameplay constraint, since I think there is an achievement/trophy for fighting all enemies, but I feel like they could do your fix where they simply unfold. However, when they get unfolded now they probably need new dialogue, and an unfolding animation for each enemy. So perhaps it was also a time issue? Definitely a weird oversight in the story.
super paper mario spoilers (its a game from like 2007, i doubt anyone actually cares) luigi survived to make up for him dying twice back in super paper mario
Olly folded Bowser's goons first so that they could butter Mario up so he wouldn't be able to resist the folding. And Luigi is just plain unremarkable.
For the 1000 fold arms one, in the forest olivia was head under so she couldn’t see the circle and couldn’t realise it was going to happen. Olivia knew perfectly well what mario was using in the first scenario. In the cave she also didn’t know about mario using it as well
That's a really interesting idea! It's also funny to note that even though Olivia can't see in the forest because her head is in the ground, she can still warn Mario when he's about to walk into a hole
4:15 or maybe you're just thinking to hard. Olivia needs to be with you to know when to give you the ability to use the move. only when Mario is on the circle can Olivia give Mario the ability of 1,000 fold arms. she knew about the first circle you walk over. so she gave you the power. that might not make sense but it's hard to write the explanation i have.
This is very minor, but why are there 2 kinds of magic circles? There are ones that just have a plain circle around the symbol (4:13) and there are ones that have a design around the symbol (4:18).
Good observation! I know there were several designs for magic circles that didn't make it into the game and you can view the concept art in the Museum when you unlock it, but I'm not sure what the reason is for why the magic circles are different in the game
The outline with that design is a seal that keeps the circle in the ground. However, Olly broke the seal of some circles and gave them to folded soldiers or hid them somewhere. Once you find the magic circle, it returns to its original place, but it doesn't have the outline with the design because the seal doesn't restore. To sum up, the circles that were already there have the outline, the circles that you find and then a triangle pops out and forms the circle don't. You can tell the outline is a seal because after you use a circle that has the seal, it stays there, because the seal keeps it in the ground, it justo turnos off. After you use one without seal, it disappears, because there is nothing keeping it in the ground.

this specific plot point has bothered me since I've finished watching an entire playthrough the game. what the heck happened with bowser??? I'm so confused about bowser's role in the story for a couple reasons: 1. why didn't olly fold bowser into origami at the start of the game? he clearly had the power to fold bowser into a square, and olivia herself folded bowser into origami at the final boss fight (despite it being stated that olly is more experienced with origami than his sister), so why didn't olly just fold bowser into a folded soldier and call it a day? he would be more powerful than any of the folded soldiers found throughout the game. folding bowser into a square and just leaving him there makes zero sense. 2. why can you unfold the toads when you hit them with your hammer, but you can't do the same with bowser until _after_ the stapler is defeated? yes, when you defeat a legion of stationery member, their effects are undone. however, it's explicitly said/shown that the stapler folded bowser and his minions, so it can be assumed that the stapler also folded all the toads, since bowser goes through an identical transformation when you free him. so how come the toads get released when you hit them with your hammer, but not bowser? bowser didn't turn into a folded soldier like his minions, so it wasn't permanent. 3. why did bowser disappear during the first phase of the final boss fight? mario's partners during this game always accompanied him in battle even though you couldn't control them, and bowser during the origami castle was no exception. I suppose it's because you are fighting a boss this time, but they could've at least made bowser sit on the sidelines or something, but he just disappears. this isn't a plot hole, it's just weird. oh also, this one's more of a dev fault than a plot hole, but why did luigi drive bowser jr. and kamek into the castle at the end of the game? those two didn't say anything during that cutscene, or during the ending. was it supposed to be some kind of weird half-assed "everyone is here" epic moment? because it didn't feel like one. the battle was done.
These are fantastic! I really enjoyed reading it, and the last paragraph gave me a good laugh. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Hope to see some more of your thoughts on other videos if you're interested :) We also have a Discord server (linked on my About page) if you're interested in joining!
1. Maybe he was just too powerful to be completely folded or have his mind altered? Either that or Olly just wanted to see him suffer 2. Toad's aren't stapled, they're just folded up by his minions and left at that. Stapling them would be a waste since they would all just die anyways. 3. Not really, none of his partners accompany him to boss battles. 4. The trap in Peach's castle led straight to hotfoot crater, and since Kamek and Jr. were there and he knew that Mario was working with Bowser on this one, why wouldn't he bring them?
For the third one, it’s probably for consistency. Bobby wasn’t in the boss fight with Rubber Band, and Professor Toad wasn’t in the boss fight with Hole Punch.
This is part of why I like the game so much! So many theories and mysteries to think about! Even though I get it that there are people that would like to know everything.
Yeah, it's a fun game to talk about and theorize about! I'm having a lot of fun making videos exploring the game :) There are so many great ideas in the comments too!
for the first one, it’s just a trap that don’t hurt you (like in the beginning of the game), it’s just that logically, if mario get trapped at the end, even if he can flee after, it’s just ruined and olly basically wins. It’s less important that luigi get trapped, and after that he had the time to go search his kart and the green toad
Also, still about Bobby's explosion, how comes he needs the strong in order to blow up? I mean if he can put It on Fire directly why not just detonating there, on the spot?
That's a really good idea! I haven't tested this with a 1-up mushroom, I wonder if Mario also survives that fall if he has a 1-up Mushroom. I'm guessing if he does, he respawns at the top though, and that doesn't happen to Luigi ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I think you can use the thousand-fold arms if olivia knows what you're doing. In the dungeon, she was aware of the magic circle, while in the cave, she is not aware of where you are. I don't know how she knows what you're doing while inside the wall, but judging by the conversation, she does
Yeah, it makes sense that Olivia is needed for it in some way. It's strange in the forest at the beginning that Olivia can warn you before you walk into a hole, but she can't prepare the magic circle nearby for you
0:59 simple: junior and Kamek saved luigi, got out, if Mario falls neither of them are in the vulcano, so he dies in lava. Luigi then took the kart he PARKED at the entrance of the castle and the Craftsman (AS HE SAID) arrives to try fix things with Olly, obtaining a place on Luigi's kart
I think for Bobby, he basically lied to Mario about how Bob-ombs have a short life. With Bombette, Bobbery and Boomer, they came back out of their own choice, Bobby just decided to leave Mario and stick around with him as a ghost in his own choice and then finally leave Mario's side after the journey was over. Why? Because he felt that he could do a better job at sticking by Mario's side without being in the way and he felt that after his memories were finally brought back, his job in life was done. He was never like the former mentioned guys in this comment, when he was with his own kind of the same looking guys, he felt at home, so with them basically gone somewhere else now after the disaster on the Princess Peach, it makes sense why he would basically commit suicide and "make an impact".
Bobby, and the bob-ombs at bowser's castle all acknowledge that they die after explosions. Bombette and Bobbery are likely just exceptions. most people theorize that there's a there are natural bob-ombs which don't die after an explosion and mass-produced bob-ombs like bobby which do.
@@TheAlmightyWizardToad Not really because with the number of Bob-ombs that showed up on the deck, which was I think twenty three, that is a number that runs out pretty quickly, so it makes more sense for them to basically come back to life out of their own choice. That's why the player never runs out of the number of Bob-ombs during the ship minigame.
@@buzzytrombone4353 That was more of a case of the devs not wanting to subject you to a really long laggy cutscene of a ton of bob-ombs getting onto the ship. Enough so that you could constantly spam shots and not run out. So they just put a lower number there but enough so that people would still get the basic idea. This is the same thing that happens with every folded soldier battle.
This is another one, “In Scorching Sandpaper Desert the sun is missing and everything is dark, but the other areas have light to them, soooo r there multiple suns or what?”
That's a good point, I wonder where that light is coming from if the sun is removed. There's some light from the city, but I wouldn't think it's enough to let you see through the entire desert
Another weird moment is that they are acting that it is pretty sad for bob-omb that he dies/explodes but nobody cares about shooting one hundreds of bob-ombs emotionless from the airplane at the last bit XD nobody cares about those but I think that’s not a weird moment from the game, but more from all people who play it (me included)
Yeah, it seemed a bit distasteful to launch a bunch of Bob-ombs, reinforcing the idea that they're just tools that we use, even though we grew a close friendship with one of those Bob-ombs
@@OrangeStaringCat It's not different because they litterally say that the same Bobby does, "make an impact", Mario and everyone else in the game knows that so they're fine with it.
Here’s an idea: You know that part in the dining hall of Bowser’s castle where the folded soldiers fight their regular counterparts? I wonder if it was inspired in part by a certain movie remake that came out in Japan last summer. 😉
@@ZXMany It was a joke about Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution, which came out last summer in Japan, which would have been during the development of this game.
Oh, but everyone knows that explosions are absolutely the best tool for destroying something that your friend is physically in contact with! Especially in a valley that apparently has loose giant boulders rolling around! That totally couldn't backfire at all! (I'm kind of salty that this excellent character was sacrificed for something that makes so little narrative sense! I headcanon that Bobby continues to follow you as a ghost, which kind of helps, BUT STILL.)
There could be an explanation of why Luigi survives and an explanation of his actions in the game. To find the key to Princess Peach he used the Marvelous Compass to find it (you know the item in his adventure in thousand year door). He probably go to get it after he was rescued to help him find the key but instead of guiding him to that key, it guided him to other keys that Mario needed in his adventure. That's why you find him so conveniently ahead of you whenever you need a key. He probably sat in the kart and saw the compass to see whenever he needed to go to get the key but when the compass actually guided him to the key of Princess castle, it pointed out where Luigi was and he didnt understand what the compass tried to tell him and he couldnt find the key. And as for when he fell into the trap, Oli probably put a trap that killed anyone who fall to the dungeon from there as a mean to killed Mario and as Luigi was falling he saw the compass in a moment of desperation and he saw that he should fell into the left (or any direction really) to avoid the trap and he did. Then he saw that the Marvelous Compass told him where the Origami Master was and he decided to find him and bring him to the castle. IDK if this is the real explanation but i think is a good head canon
That's a really good explanation! One funny thing about Luigi getting most of the other keys is that it added more difficulty to Mario, because he could have just gotten the key himself if Luigi didn't take it 😂
Probably a bit late, but when looking in the Mario & Luigi series based on their stats we can tell luigi has higher defense and hp while mario has higher speed and attack. If we assume the same principle applies in the paper mario series that could explain how luigi survived, he is bulkier than mario.
That's a great explanation, I love this, this is fantastic! The Mario & Luigi games that I've played were great too! Have a great day, thank you for the comment :D
1. I think thats just a game thing, dont want the player to get confused on where they should go, and hey, at least they made it so you can fall down 2. The folded soldier one is the only one that confuses me as well, but maybe its cuz they were smaller enemies and they were easier to origami fold and thats why bowser wasnt folded yet? Also how they mightve wanted to try mario last cuz hes known for being incredibly powerful, so they wanted to get rid of him lastly as he could cause some trouble, as for luigi, maybe he was too dumb and they just let him trapped in a wall as he was useless as a soldier 3. Maybe he got the key, the damage of the fall and stuff made him a bit unconcious of what he was doing for a while, put it in the kart, and he just kept searching for it 4. Uh this ones kinda obvious, there was no way mario and bobby would find someone who'd help them, and by the time they found someone and found a way to bring some tech to save olivia, she wouldve already been unfolded and crumpled 5. Yeah you already cleared this one up
Update: i was replaying origami king today and when luigi talks about the shy guy who folded him in the wall, he said that the soldier told him he'd "come back for him later" So thats one mystery down
I really love paper Mario origami king it’s my favourite game this year and your my favourite RUclipsr cuz basically all the other youtubers just have spoilers without saying that there is spoilers
That's so awesome, thanks so much for the really kind comment! Paper Mario: The Origami King was a fun game, and I'm really glad you're enjoying the videos!
I have an explanation for the first question: If you take a look at some Mario & Luigi games, you'd notice that Luigi has more HP than Mario, and if you arrive at princess Peach's castle while getting all the hearts, you'd probably have 200 HP by now, so that means that Luigi could have like 250 HP or something, which could make him survive, and he may just have went upstairs like the one's folded Bowser had shown us, so he can take the kart again.
I think I have it all figured out: Plot Hole 1: Earlier in the game, when Luigi gives you the key to Bowser's Throne Room, you find him in Kamek's bedroom, admiring a Shiny Mushroom, which heals you 100 HP. We can probably assume that Luigi has a higher max HP than 200, which is Mario's highest. Since we have evidence that Luigi is at full health, and Mario dies even at 200 HP when falling into the hole, and assuming Luigis HP is currently higher than 200, he is able to survive the fall. The hole leads to Hotfoot Crater, which is where we last saw Bowser Jr and Kamek. He rescues Bowser Jr and Kamek from the goombas, and they show Luigi the cannon that Bowser and Mario used to escape. They escape to the front of the castle, where Luigi's Kart is. They fly to pick up the Origami Craftsman, and then arrive in Olly's throne room. Plot Hole 2: When Luigi leaves you in the hallway to "go look for the key to peaches castle" at the very beginning, he first goes into the little room on the left of the throne room. You can even see that that door is open in the game, and at 1:05. When you rescue him from the wall, he says that a shy guy put him there. We can assume that the origami shy guy was already in that room when Luigi got there, and was either killed or just left when the castle flew off. The shy guy didn't have the stapler, so he couldn't fold Luigi yet. Luigi also says that the shy guy said that he will come back for Luigi later, most likely with the stapler. This shy guy is also probably one of the shy guys that was in the dungeons with Mario and the minions. As for why they didn't fold Mario, I'm not sure. Maybe King Olly wanted to talk to him first? Or maybe they were worried that Mario would try to save the minions. Plot Hole 3: This one is kind of obvious. Luigi didn't want to tip the valet, so he went to park the kart at the beginning. This made the valet real mad, because they wanted their tips. So they probably already had the key, and the planted it on Luigi's Kart so the cops would think Luigi stole it. Plot Hole 4: Option #1: There are basically three people in this situation who could've gotten machinery to move the boulder. Olivia, who couldn't talk because she was under the boulder. She is also like 3 months old anyway so she might not know about it. Bobby, who recently had amnesia and is still recovering, and didn't remember about that option. And Mario, who we all know is secretly evil, and wants to take over the world, unbeknownst to the other characters. He probably was planning for Bobby to die, and didn't bring the machinery up. Option #2: All the buildings and stuff are basically just non sentient origami, and they can't have been made by Olly or Olivia, because they didn't exist yet. That means that the only person who has knowledge of how to build and move elaborate things like these, is the Origami Craftsman, who Mario and Bobby haven't met yet. This means that they did have no other way to move the boulder. Plot Hole 5: This ones boring, I have no clue, and also I'm tired from writing all this Your videos are amazing and you should make more like these :)
1. I think Mario dying is just a gameplay thing. 2. Good point. 3. It's just to make Luigi's questline sillier I think. 4. Detonating the rock makes plenty of sense. Taking a prolonged detour to the cruise ship is the weird part, but it helps Bobby's characterization at least. 5. Possibly.
I am pretty sure Luigi got saved by Bowser Junior and Kamek since the two were still at the Volcano which is where the trap leads to. Then Luigi tells Kamek to take him to the Toad who made the Origami to get him which explains the fast travel.
Yeah, you can take some pretty big falls without taking fall damage in this game! Except for that one hole. Maybe you fall into lava, because the castle is on a volcano now. But the lava doesn't affect Luigi somehow ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@ZXMany I meant literally falling like a paper. If you look at the cutscenes of the game, everytime Mario falls, it falls like a paper, swinging slowly.
@@leedlelel2373 I wonder if Mario survives if he has a 1-up! That opens the next question, why does the 1-up work for Luigi but not Mario? The mystery continues!
1. That's pretty simple actually. The hole leads directly into hotfoot crater where bowser jr and kamek are, and since Luigi is much floatier than mario he has a high chance of landing on stable ground, from there it's just a matter of using the cannon inside of bowser's ship, getting into his car which is park right outside of peach's castle and driving to the origami master. Which is incredibly feasible considering Mario traveled all around the map in around a day whilst going through all kinds of obstacles. When Luigi could just hop into his kart, drive to the origami master and then drive back. 2. it was mostly a matter of if Mario and Luigi team up to fight stapler it would have no chance, so they stuck luigi behind a wall to deal with mario first. They stapled the minions first for some extra helping hands and to make sure mario wouldn't rally the minions to fight stapler. Olly only trapped people behind the wall who he either had no desire to fold, or in luigi's case wanted to fold later after Mario was dealt with. 3. Luigi is pretty oblivious, dude thinks that every key he finds is the one to princess peach's castle. Without caring much for the actual design or where it was found. And of course, this is Mario we're talking about. A lot of unlikely things can happen. 4. Throughout the entire game with the exception of Bowser's castle you have absolutely no access to anything that can destroy a boulder that large, and as of then you only had access to toad town (which was a ghost town at the time) and shogun studios (a theme park.) both of which I doubt had any access to something that could destroy a boulder of that size and just waiting to get something would've killed Olivia due to being under the boulder for so long. 5. explanation is right.
1. there’s a room at the beginning of the game so luigi probably escaped and since his cart is a lot faster because the key is no longer in the pipe, he probably went fast enough to get the origami craftsman (the reason mario dies is most likely because they didn’t want u to go through the beginning part again) 2. there were a lot of enemies and luigi would probably be hard to fold, also it’s known that rather than folding the more formidable characters he just hides them in a wall, either that or the stapler probably ran out of staples lol, also i don’t think olivia knew to defeat the stapler because she doesn’t pack a punch as she says several times 3. ur probably right, or it got sucked in from when he started the kart 4. they probably were too afraid to face olly and bobby still needed to find a way to get rid of the paper mache gooper blooper and avenge his best bud once his memories came back so i assume that he did this because it was a perfect sequence of events 5. either that or olivia has to be focused to help mario with the thousand fold arms, she knew that the first thousand fold arms was there so she probably had the power to help mario with the thousand fold arms but olivia didn’t know that there was a magic circle in the breezy tunnel neither was she motivated to do so
Here’s how I think Luigi got back.First he got lucky and landed on an edge in hotfoot crater. Then he met up with Kamek and Bowser Jr.After that they launched themselves out of bowsers cannon to the oragami castle or peaches castle. Then they flew down on Luigis kart to the craftsman’s house on the great sea.He agreed to come with them and they flew back to the castle(Luigis kart can clearly fly because it came down from nowhere). They parked and hid out for awhile because they saw the state of the castle(That’s why the kart was not moved). After Mario cleared out the castle and met up with olly, they noticed they could come out of hiding. They flew the kart all the way around the castle and go there the moment Mario defeated Olly. There, happy now?
the reason mario and luigi got sealed in a wall instead of getting folded instantly is since they would've been able to escape while the folded soldiers were occupied
#5 I think Luigi went to get the origami master from the mushroom island. And I think that Luigi survived the fall, Honestly. I kinda would like if Bobby just stayed with us as a partner for the red and blue streamer areas instead of exploding, I don’t know how that’ll work
That's a really great observation, I like that a lot! Fantastic point, we don't know exactly when Bobby's journey started, and that's really interesting to think about
All of these answers are jokes) 1: Luigi is a god and has super speed. 2: Olly just wanted to see mario and Luigi lol. 3: nah, luigi used his god powers to do it. 4: peach doesn’t allow that technology lol. 5: Olivia can’t be bothered to help you
I don't know why nobody seems to realize this, but when the castle is taken to the volcano at the beginning of the game, the basement should stay there, with a hole above it. However, the basement straight up disappears, there is floor where the basement should be!
Luigis car is still present when you enter the newly formed origami castle so they must of escaped that way. I can understand how Bowser Jr could survive but Kamek though I though was burnt to crisp when the lava rises their it goes over kameks sacrifice’d area. Luigi could of possibly landed somewhere safe why Mario doesn’t is unknown maybe plot reason
The Almighty Wizard Toad it rises during the chase it’s hard to notice since your being chased by the paper macho gate crashers. That’s also one of the reasons why the parts of the destroyed bowers airship mario was destroyed even more
I know I'm really late but for #4 Bobby was probably thinking about the quickest way since he said it's not good to flatten origami like that and getting a machine that would lift/crush the boulder across a RIVER would take forever and Olivia would be paper in no time at that rate Also for #5 maybe it depends on distance as Olivia was in the upper cave crying in the post Bobby explosion scene and when she was trapped inside the wall technically she was pretty close to him so she would of been able to transfer her powers. And you said this after I typed it
The kart is turned around, so we can't see if it has a key or not! It might be there or it might not be :) I can't think of another moment where it's likely that the key got into the kart, because Luigi went searching for the key inside the castle, and we saw debris falling from the castle when the castle was taken!
Great question! Someone in the comments also pointed out that the desert wasn't pitch black while the sun was gone - where was the other light coming from?
Luigi only survives because he is a god and Luigi can just do nothing and he will survive and not be hurt at all. Because that’s how Luigi works in paper Mario, Mario only dies because he does not have the god powers Luigi has
My theory behind why King Olly is secretly friends with Luigi, is because a collectible treasure you can find in the origami Castle, is a little model of Luigi's Kart. So that makes me wonder: why would King Olly have this in his castle?
You didn’t noticed the weird plot? For the Vellumental magic circles, it obvious that Olivia can fold herself into a turtle, dragon, phoenix, and polar bear for those powers. For the thousand fold Arms, It makes sense from the beginning but Olivia is the only one that can fold Mario’s arms a thousand times.
3:50. Literally just ask the Monty moles to dig her out. Yes there technically inside but there has to be some other Monty mole that could help. Maybe the one next to the Yellow toad house in picnic road or the Monty mole that sells you the boss trophy’s.
I got something. *THE FOLDED SOLDIERS!!!!!!!* Like, you SEE at the BEGINNING of the game, that it’s the stapler boss that’s making the minion into folded soldiers, and when we beat it, the staple comes out of Bowser... BUT DOES NOTHING FOR THE MINIONS! Like- *”HOW” DOES THAT WORK?!?!?!*
Mario dying is just a game mechanic thing. By your logic how did Mario survive at the beginning? It's implied that Mario gets trapped or folded in there, or he escapes again and heads back to toad town
Great question! At the start of the game, the castle is in its original place, and Mario falls into the castle's basement. Near the end of the game, the castle is on top of a volcano, and we don't know what's below that hole now! Somehow Luigi manages to come back after falling into that hole, but Mario doesn't. We're not given an explanation in the game for why Luigi is able to survive and escape but Mario isn't
I think Luigi survived because when the castle was folded into origami castle, he escaped somehow because the walls turned into flat paper, then folded, giving him enough time to escape
It's funny that Mario gets a game over if he jumps in right after Luigi! Something must have happened in those few seconds between when Luigi falls in and Mario following him in after that 🤔
For the 1st one its probably becuase luigi floats in other games becuase he can And for the 2nd one luigi was put in the wall by a shy guy for later so i think they where planing to make other all the enimies oragami so they could restrain mario and luigi as they would be able to fight through a small crowd
Very good points made here, but this is a Mario game. Since it's an rpg, plot is obviously much more important and thought out then in a typical Mario game where plot is very thin, but this still isn't Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest we're talking about. It's a very lighthearted and comedic game. Little details like this are not important.
Fun fact: if you try to use the boat after bobby’s explosion you will see a note that says ‘ill be back! Either swim or wait your choice’ so that means that the oarsmen left to go some where, but where? Any suggestions?
I have an IDEA! What if we moved a Magic Circle over to the boulder that Olivia was under... ...and then used the 1000-Fold Arms to break the boulder... AND THEN BOBBY WOULD STILL BE ALIVE!

That’s a meme
I fort he was all ready in the tram
Nah, I think it's more likely that the great sea was the first place that Olly attacked (considering that's where he's from) and Bobby's backstory is all before Olly's attack on Toad Town and peach's Castle. Since you could've not rescued any Toads by then (and if the ones that could've been rescued that went to toad town weren't very plentiful) also it wouldn't make sense if Bobby washed up on dock unconscious and then two seconds later he's heading off to overlook mountain.
It's also funny how Bobby waited inside the tram *UNTIL* Mario came
@@RGC_animation the tram probably had to be mostly full to detect that it should start moving
For goodness sake man. Luigi is clearly a God. That is literally the whole answer.
@@PlayAlongEternally ah but what about terminal montage and his overly Christian luigi

How did Luigi survive?
Thanks for the good laugh, that is perhaps the most important question!
𝘽𝙮 𝙙𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙗𝙨𝙤𝙡𝙪𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙣𝙜
It's because Luigi's rich.
the hole is above a volcano with those goombas but bowser jr and (forgot his name)magic koopa so
I feel like the explanation for Fact 5 could depend on Olivia’s current state, or what she’s focused on, for example...
Handaconda: She’s panicked, and not focusing on the magic circle, focusing on the handaconda instead.
Wall: She’s focused on the thousand fold arms, and doesnt really know how to feel.
Cave: She’s too sad to even move, why would she be able to activate the magic circle?
Forest: She doesn’t even know that Mario is even near the thousand fold arms, Olivia is just trying to escape--
But another plot hole I can think of is if Olivia was stuck in the ground, how would she know when Mario was about to fall?
I love the explanation, and your last point gave me a good laugh, that's a fantastic point, I completely missed that! That's hilarious!
ZXMany Thanks!
She saw the hole when falling
Yeah that is a really good theorie!
Jojojunior Utsey or scuttle jump.
Or super jump
If Kamek could teleport people like that, he would have broken the entire story.
So much could have been skipped/ignored if he had such an ability.
Yea 😂
Yeah, there's a lot of room to think about what it could be! Thanks for sharing your thoughts :)
Mario only dies because the game needed more instant game overs for the player, Luigi survived because he is not a player so he gets plot armor
it's usually the other way around.

Great, never thought about Luigi having infinite HP tho XD
Maybe that's why he isn't a partner in battles in this game, he would be too OP :)
ZXMany exactly, nobody ever thought luigi was stronger than mario but he does survive the fall and mario didn’t
Another good vid man. Love the possible explanations for these mysteries
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you very much!

I'm so confused about bowser's role in the story for a couple reasons:
1. why didn't olly fold bowser into origami at the start of the game? he clearly had the power to fold bowser into a square, and olivia herself folded bowser into origami at the final boss fight (despite it being stated that olly is more experienced with origami than his sister), so why didn't olly just fold bowser into a folded soldier and call it a day? he would be more powerful than any of the folded soldiers found throughout the game. folding bowser into a square and just leaving him there makes zero sense.
2. why can you unfold the toads when you hit them with your hammer, but you can't do the same with bowser until _after_ the stapler is defeated? yes, when you defeat a legion of stationery member, their effects are undone. however, it's explicitly said/shown that the stapler folded bowser and his minions, so it can be assumed that the stapler also folded all the toads, since bowser goes through an identical transformation when you free him. so how come the toads get released when you hit them with your hammer, but not bowser? bowser didn't turn into a folded soldier like his minions, so it wasn't permanent.
3. why did bowser disappear during the first phase of the final boss fight? mario's partners during this game always accompanied him in battle even though you couldn't control them, and bowser during the origami castle was no exception.
Either that or Olly just wanted to see him suffer
It being a trap that stops the progress of the game is an interesting idea, thanks for sharing!

@@duttfisch I would expect that to happen, thanks for the comment!
My completely random theory on why they didn't fold Luigi into a folded soldier: they didn't wanna risk Mr. L v2
It's strange in the forest at the beginning that Olivia can warn you before you walk into a hole, but she can't prepare the magic circle nearby for you
@@ChibiHuey Yeah, exactly!

That's a really interesting idea, thanks for sharing!

I headcanon that Bobby continues to follow you as a ghost, which kind of helps, BUT STILL.)
Absolutely! And yeah, have you been to the photo studio in Shogun Studios?
@@ZXMany That is a big part of the reason I headcanon that.
One funny thing about Luigi getting most of the other keys is that it added more difficulty to Mario, because he could have just gotten the key himself if Luigi didn't take it 😂
ZXMany: but why didnt they folded up luigi
Me: OH WELL YOU DEFEATED THE ENEMYS AND THE STAPLER TOO!
I love it 😂 Thanks for the comment, have a great day!
1. I think thats just a game thing, dont want the player to get confused on where they should go, and hey, at least they made it so you can fall down
2. The folded soldier one is the only one that confuses me as well, but maybe its cuz they were smaller enemies and they were easier to origami fold and thats why bowser wasnt folded yet? Also how they mightve wanted to try mario last cuz hes known for being incredibly powerful, so they wanted to get rid of him lastly as he could cause some trouble, as for luigi, maybe he was too dumb and they just let him trapped in a wall as he was useless as a soldier
3. Maybe he got the key, the damage of the fall and stuff made him a bit unconcious of what he was doing for a while, put it in the kart, and he just kept searching for it
4. Uh this ones kinda obvious, there was no way mario and bobby would find someone who'd help them, and by the time they found someone and found a way to bring some tech to save olivia, she wouldve already been unfolded and crumpled

@@ZXMany ok
I have an explanation for the first question:
If you take a look at some Mario & Luigi games, you'd notice that Luigi has more HP than Mario, and if you arrive at princess Peach's castle while getting all the hearts, you'd probably have 200 HP by now, so that means that Luigi could have like 250 HP or something, which could make him survive, and he may just have went upstairs like the one's folded Bowser had shown us, so he can take the kart again.
I think I have it all figured out:
Plot Hole 1:
Earlier in the game, when Luigi gives you the key to Bowser's Throne Room, you find him in Kamek's bedroom, admiring a Shiny Mushroom, which heals you 100 HP.
Plot Hole 2:
When Luigi leaves you in the hallway to "go look for the key to peaches castle" at the very beginning, he first goes into the little room on the left of the throne room.
Plot Hole 3:
This one is kind of obvious. Luigi didn't want to tip the valet, so he went to park the kart at the beginning. This made the valet real mad, because they wanted their tips. So they probably already had the key, and the planted it on Luigi's Kart so the cops would think Luigi stole it.
Plot Hole 4:
Option #1: There are basically three people in this situation who could've gotten machinery to move the boulder.
Plot Hole 5:
This ones boring, I have no clue, and also I'm tired from writing all this
Your videos are amazing and you should make more like these :)
5. Possibly.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I appreciate you checking this out! Such a fun game! Have a great day :D
I am pretty sure Luigi got saved by Bowser Junior and Kamek since the two were still at the Volcano which is where the trap leads to. Then Luigi tells Kamek to take him to the Toad who made the Origami to get him which explains the fast travel.
Remember one thing in Paper Mario on the N64:
They're made of paper, so falling isn't a problem.
Looks like nintendo forgotted that
Yeah, you can take some pretty big falls without taking fall damage in this game!
@@mystcat3 Ah, I see what you mean! Yeah, like the beginning of Paper Mario 64 where Mario falls off the veranda and flutters down?
The first one is very confusing my theory was oh because Mario fell in the just killed because its Mario but then remembered that LUIGI SURVIVED
Yeah, exactly! How was Luigi able to survive that when Mario wasn't?
@@ZXMany luigi had a 1-up
There, case solved
Lol
@@leedlelel2373 I wonder if Mario survives if he has a 1-up! That opens the next question, why does the 1-up work for Luigi but not Mario? The mystery continues!
@@ZXMany 1-ups only work in battle, so...
When you fight Cheep-cheep or Blooper on the Great-Sea, they're in the water, but when you enter battle mode, the battle occur on ground
Love the explanations, especially the third one, that's hilarious! Thank you so much for the comment :)
1:47 theres was a cure because if we kill Stape doggie it makes all the stapes dissappear from their bodies and cures em
1. there’s a room at the beginning of the game so luigi probably escaped and since his cart is a lot faster because the key is no longer in the pipe, he probably went fast enough to get the origami craftsman (the reason mario dies is most likely because they didn’t want u to go through the beginning part again)
2. there were a lot of enemies and luigi would probably be hard to fold, also it’s known that rather than folding the more formidable characters he just hides them in a wall, either that or the stapler probably ran out of staples lol, also i don’t think olivia knew to defeat the stapler because she doesn’t pack a punch as she says several times
3. ur probably right, or it got sucked in from when he started the kart
4. they probably were too afraid to face olly and bobby still needed to find a way to get rid of the paper mache gooper blooper and avenge his best bud once his memories came back so i assume that he did this because it was a perfect sequence of events
5. either that or olivia has to be focused to help mario with the thousand fold arms, she knew that the first thousand fold arms was there so she probably had the power to help mario with the thousand fold arms but olivia didn’t know that there was a magic circle in the breezy tunnel neither was she motivated to do so
1:01and how did he did not get folded
There, happy now?
i would have gone for another bob-omb and let bobby alive
That's a good idea, I like it!
Now that I think about it, we never actually see any bob-ombs or even origami bob-ombs until the end of the game after Bobby's death.
@@St4rryTV we see paper macho bob-ombs in th volcano but no origami versions, same for monty moles
@@St4rryTV we see paper macho bob-ombs in th volcano but no origami versions, same for monty moles
the reason mario and luigi got sealed in a wall instead of getting folded instantly is since they would've been able to escape while the folded soldiers were occupied
I don't know if someone already did it before but what happens if the goombas in hotfoot crater gets you ?
Oh, that's a great question, I've never gotten caught by those goombas! I'm guessing it's just a game over screen
#5 I think Luigi went to get the origami master from the mushroom island. And I think that Luigi survived the fall,
Honestly. I kinda would like if Bobby just stayed with us as a partner for the red and blue streamer areas instead of exploding, I don’t know how that’ll work
Thank you for the comment! It's funny that Luigi can survive the fall but Mario can't
The paper mistake enemys seem to be ollys minions but the blooper seemed to be around before ollys time
That's a really great observation, I like that a lot!
Exactly! The basement wasn't taken away with the castle, we can see that it's still there when the castle is torn away
@@ZXMany But where did it go?
Luigis car is still present when you enter the newly formed origami castle so they must of escaped that way. I can understand how Bowser Jr could survive but Kamek though I though was burnt to crisp when the lava rises their it goes over kameks sacrifice’d area. Luigi could of possibly landed somewhere safe why Mario doesn’t is unknown maybe plot reason
Yeah, this all almost makes sense!
/tp kamek ~ ~20 ~
when does the lava rise?
The Almighty Wizard Toad it rises during the chase it’s hard to notice since your being chased by the paper macho gate crashers. That’s also one of the reasons why the parts of the destroyed bowers airship mario was destroyed even more
I know I'm really late but for #4 Bobby was probably thinking about the quickest way since he said it's not good to flatten origami like that and getting a machine that would lift/crush the boulder across a RIVER would take forever and Olivia would be paper in no time at that rate
Also for #5 maybe it depends on distance as Olivia was in the upper cave crying in the post Bobby explosion scene and when she was trapped inside the wall technically she was pretty close to him so she would of been able to transfer her powers. And you said this after I typed it
Awesome! Thanks for sharing your thoughts :D Have a great day!
The key didn't fall in the kart when the castle start flying because we see the kart without the key when saving Luigi.
The kart is turned around, so we can't see if it has a key or not! It might be there or it might not be :) I can't think of another moment where it's likely that the key got into the kart, because Luigi went searching for the key inside the castle, and we saw debris falling from the castle when the castle was taken!
Here is a plot hole in the desert the Sun is gone and you reclaim it after you beat Hole Punch so how did he Hole Punch the Sun?
Great question! Someone in the comments also pointed out that the desert wasn't pitch black while the sun was gone - where was the other light coming from?
Luigi survived because he didnt nothing v:
5:27 What if she transformed inside Handaconda 🤔
Oh goodness, I couldn't even imagine that! Maybe she would grow large and explode the boss from the inside
Luigi only survives because he is a god and Luigi can just do nothing and he will survive and not be hurt at all. Because that’s how Luigi works in paper Mario, Mario only dies because he does not have the god powers Luigi has
Yeah, Luigi has plot armour!
Maybe King Olly just likes Luigi so much, that he put a cushion there just for Luigi, or something
Yeah, Olivia's role in getting Mario to fold the 1000-fold-arms is interesting!
1:54 if olivia say that, that makes no sense about saving peach
Luigi just remembered to ground pound.
3:50. Literally just ask the Monty moles to dig her out. Yes there technically inside but there has to be some other Monty mole that could help. Maybe the one next to the Yellow toad house in picnic road or the Monty mole that sells you the boss trophy’s.
those were rocky wrenches not monty moles
If Bobby didn't explode, we will save more time when we're dealing with Olivia
The first one was a literal Plot HOLE
A plot hole involving a literal hole, I love it 😂
So many plot holes and not enough answers
There's not enough answers, but Luigi has enough HP to survive falling into that hole somehow!
He's invincable
Clearly all these plot holes were made by hole punch
Imagine the circles actually working Mario
2:25,but that’s just a theory.A GAME THEORY!
I got something. *THE FOLDED SOLDIERS!!!!!!!*
Like, you SEE at the BEGINNING of the game, that it’s the stapler boss that’s making the minion into folded soldiers, and when we beat it, the staple comes out of Bowser... BUT DOES NOTHING FOR THE MINIONS! Like- *”HOW” DOES THAT WORK?!?!?!*
Also in previous paper mario games, bob-ombs don't die when they explode
If you don’t remeber, you fall down the thing you go into the dungeon. He prob escaped it and I don’t know about the craftsman one
@@ZXMany good point! Judging by the layout of the mountain Mario ends up in lava, which is an instant KO. I didn't think of that.
I think Luigi survived because when the castle was folded into origami castle, he escaped somehow because the walls turned into flat paper, then folded, giving him enough time to escape
It's funny that Mario gets a game over if he jumps in right after Luigi! Something must have happened in those few seconds between when Luigi falls in and Mario following him in after that 🤔
@@ZXMany hmmmm 🤔
Luigi's just immortal. No biggie.
Mario could have used a bunch of pow blocks on that Boulder.
For the 1st one its probably becuase luigi floats in other games becuase he can
And for the 2nd one luigi was put in the wall by a shy guy for later so i think they where planing to make other all the enimies oragami so they could restrain mario and luigi as they would be able to fight through a small crowd
Great points, thank you for the comment!
Luigi *obviously* had a 1-up mushroom, and a glider
I wonder if Mario survives if he falls into there with a 1-up mushroom!
ZXMany Well... he doesn’t... but *LUIGI IS SPECIAL*
He has more stamina and Luigi has something Mario Will never have.itsa weegee timee
4:28 I'd say distance AND current action olivia is doing
Luigi just respawned lol
Very good points made here, but this is a Mario game. Since it's an rpg, plot is obviously much more important and thought out then in a typical Mario game where plot is very thin, but this still isn't Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest we're talking about. It's a very lighthearted and comedic game. Little details like this are not important.
SHAME
They probably forgot about Luigi
Luigi can win a game of Mario Party without doing anything, so we can't even imagine what he can do if he starts moving!
Any plot holes are probably just because of the hole punch
Fun fact: if you try to use the boat after bobby’s explosion you will see a note that says ‘ill be back! Either swim or wait your choice’ so that means that the oarsmen left to go some where, but where? Any suggestions?
Damn I missed that part
that cool
I think luigi survived because in the games luigi has a higher jump and slower jump then his brother.
Maybe Mario dosent have enough mony to buy more expensive boulder moving tools
Luigi survived cus of the debree and and olly has time to make the last crane because it takes to long for us to get back on Luigi’s cart
Maybe the 1000-Fold Arms are activated in her presence.
I have an IDEA!
What if we moved a Magic Circle over to the boulder that Olivia was under...
...and then used the 1000-Fold Arms to break the boulder...
AND THEN BOBBY WOULD STILL BE ALIVE!
Because it can be activated while Olivia is nearby
